Had a great experience as a new tenant recently. I booked a viewing of a property with Emily. When I viewed the property she was punctual, very friendly and informative about the property I was viewing. She gave me plenty of time to look around and started the process of becoming a tenant straight away. Allen and Harris are the best of all Estate Agents I have been with. Specially Jonathan who dealt with my property sale was really good. Efficient, polite, realistic. Realistic because he didn't give me false hopes by telling me a very high price or made me sell my property at a lower price than its real value just to get his commission quick. He helped me a great deal through all the stressful process of selling my property, he kept me informed, he really did more than put my property on Rightmove in order to find buyers. I can honestly say that Allen and Harris are the best of all Estate Agents from the BS10 area I had my property for sale with, because I tried them all. And my beautiful property was a more difficult one due to restrictions of who can live in a park home and still sold it at a good price. They worked hard for their commission. I viewed a property with Allen and Harris, prior to the meeting I asked specific questions regarding the property such as rental value. at the meeting the gentleman did not have any idea of who i was, the type of purchasing I was or any answers to the questions I had asked them to find out. Dissapointed already at this stage. I then asked for guidance on an acceptable offer as I am already purchasing a similair property on a road over. The gentleman I dealt with became irate 'do not speak over me, if you cannot offer asking price or over it will not be considered'. Whislt you cannot give an exact figure, I know you can offer your proffesional guidance as it is your client. Rude and no due-diligence was done. Not a positive experiance.

An estate agency can seldom be judged properly or fairly on an "overall" basis. So much depends upon the individual with whom you deal. Overall, I can only rate Allen & Harris as average - BUT, as I have been fortunate to be able to deal directly with its Lettings Manager AMY GARROD, any "issues" that arise from elsewhere in the agency are promptly resolved by Amy. She fully deserves a multi-star rating! Amy has looked after my rental property from when I acquired it in 2008 - albeit that was with a different agency - and her service was exemplary. Fortunately, despite that agency having been taken over twice (it's now Allen & Harris) Amy moved with it. Without any exaggeration, no matter how small or complex an issue has been (and there have been plenty of both), Amy has always taken care of them superbly and professionally. She never fails to relieve me of all the aggro. On that basis, I'd "If you want a good lettings agency, Allen & Harris is amongst the best". But I have to qualify that but adding "As long as Amy Garrod serves you". A&H is currently selling my flat - but yet again, both they and I have had to call upon Amy for help. Hopefully their sales department will also turn up trumps. Can one individual make or break an agency? I have dealt with this branch for many years. As a landlord I have been very pleased with the way they secure suitable tenants. Renewals and changes of occupancy are dealt with a minimum of fuss. Any maintenance issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently by Amy Garrod the Property Manager. The trades people they appoint have all been of a high standard, and as an absent landlord I've never had the feeling I've been overcharged. I think they deserve the five star rating I've given them.

My general experience has been positive, though I find it confusing that I seem to deal with so many different people. I am therefore glad that Amy Garrod is there who can resolve any problems with the touch of a magic wand. She was particularly helpful in withstanding tenacious efforts of a non tenant to stay on in a flat after his girlfriend(the true tenant)had left. I was fearing litigation but Amy waved her magic wand and the awkward customer vanished in a puff of smoke. Have also had positive dealings with Eve Parsons and Lee Brown.
