I'd like to thank Alex Smith in particular for keeping in constant communication. Despite some jobs not getting done after emails , phone calls and texts Alex gave me at lest some form of communication and always writes back and kept me updated. Despite the difficulties during these early days of the pandemic, Romans were very communicative and helpful to ensure our move in was as smooth as possible. Having lived in the property for a year, we have continued to receive outstanding service from the staff, in particular our property manager Kimberley who has always been available to answer calls and emails, solving any issues we have come across swiftly and successfully. Overall the entire team have been friendly and considerate to talk to, even now whilst arranging viewings for the next tenants that will move in after our contract ends. Me and my partner have been in our current apartment managed by romans for almost a year now, and the service has been some of the best I have ever experienced from an estate agents. Kimberley our property manager is incredibly fast and professional while also being very personable. We have had issues with ovens breaking and they are always fixed within the week which is great! I also really appreciate that Kimberly wont just leave us hanging for a week waiting for a response, she will get in touch to let us know what the hold up is if there is one. She will also personally call us if there is bad news, like not being able to keep a pet, or a delay in fixing an issue.

Great service over the last few years from this branch (as a renter, not landlord). My property manager Kimberley Garcia Jones is my main contact and relays any problems swiftly to the landlord if needed. She responds to any inquiries the same day and sets up appointments with competent builders and handyman quickly. Never had any issues with Ms. Garcia or Romans whatsoever. Renewals are also organised well in advance, never letting any anxiety rise up.

I have had two different, and rather contrasting, experiences with Romans. Firstly with their team that deal with the lettings of property. It took far too long and many attempts to get references through and to prove our guarantors earned over the threshold even when all the correct information was supplied early on. Even though it eventually all went through I was left with a sense of dread that I would be handled by them throughout the rest of my tenancy. However nearly 4 months in I have been very pleasantly surprised by the Property Management side of things. Most of my communication to this side of Romans has been through Charlotte, who has been excellent. She has answered every query and issue within the same day usually within a couple of hours and swiftly dealt with any problems I have had in the flat. It's thanks to her that my experience with Romans has become so positive. So overall I would say that if you can get through the first hurdle with Romans their Property Management team are incredibly friendly and helpful, better than any of my other experiences with Property Management elsewhere.

He tried his best to make us happy with the new property, updating us all time, via phone&email. I would recommend them, even if the fees are ridiculously expensive. So, our agreement came to an end after two years, so now I have a massive complaint about the girls from the reception I suppose. The company I work for sent me a parcel to my oldest address, so the tenants sent it back to Romans. They’ve emailed me to go pick it up ASAP, and when I did, my parcel had the packaging all ripped off and the goods inside were wide open!! Why on Earth you would violate someone’s privacy?!? When I asked the question, they said this is how the delivery guys brought it! Which is a massive lie! Not to mention that the receptionists are useless and they have no idea how to speak respectfully or how to do their job! So, I would like an official answer about my parcel being opened, as I can see the owner reads our reviews. Thanks !

No accountability and responsiveness is generally on a 1 to 2 week turnaround. Only email is available and no phone lines which is fine given the current situation, but the answers have been short and incomplete at the best of times. The majority of the responses have also shown a lack of comprehension of questions or simple inability to answer more than a single question at a time. UPDATE: Through email I was able to get another person to help with looking at my contract amendment request. Since they've taken over the whole experience has changed night and day. The responsiveness and completeness of answers is now better than I'd expect and the amendment is proceeding through much smoother. They are now an estate agent I can recommend to others again! (P.S. My experience at Romans can be broken into two divisions; the initial sales, and the offer and administration. Of the former, Romans did a significantly better job than any of its rivals at actually selling the property - leaving me with a relatively full understanding of what it was I was viewing. Despite some teething errors however, Romans was always relatively quick at remedying them, and was diligent in helping all parties involved find a complete and satisfactory solution. EDIT (06/10/2016) Following a very productive call with Jon I have decided to change my initial rating of 1 to 3/5. I wish I knew of his role within Romans when my dealings with the estate agent went south. After a conversation with him we settled a few of the outstanding issues and while i cant recover the time i lost i can accept when someone is going out of their way for customer satisfaction. In short, my dealing with Jon have gone a way in restoring my faith in Romans reputation... As i said earlier, i only wish i got in touch with him sooner - i might have settled issues with the agent sooner! OP - After finding a property i liked i was relieved to see Romans as the estate agent. Colleagues in the past had high praise for them and they appeared to have a good reputation. Unfortunately i would not come to the same conclusion or praise. Aside from the mortgage advisory team, who did a brilliant job, I am still shocked at my experience with the sales team in the Reading branch. During the process i had two estate agents handle my case BOTH did not instil me with any confidence. Never had i received a call from either updating me on proceeding where I was required to chase things, where i would be greeted with phases like "i left a message" or "i was just about to email you" all too much. I often got the feeling they also would not convey questions I had for the vendor and would provide answers they thought were correct. Eg I requested information regarding work that was to be carried out on the property they assured me that all work had been done... Queue a few days later where i was informed no work had actually taken place. I lost a number of weeks trying to get to the bottom of that one! I am truly shocked at my experience with Romans in Reading and would NOT recommend them. Unless you enjoy being talked down to and treated with no respect. I only added a star for the Mortgage team who handled my mortgage and queries with the utmost respect and professionalism. Something i cannot say for the agents.

Living in Reading I was aware of Romans and their experience and knowledge of properties within the local area. Luckily I was in the very good hands of Lindsay who works at the Reading branch. During viewings I found Lindsay to be open to questions and she takes the time to let you walk round the property without rushing you. This is very important as it allows you to take your time and actually see the property through your own eyes. I have experienced other viewings with agents from other companies who have talked at me and constantly tried to push the property whilst following me from room to room. This puts a lot of pressure on the viewer and so being showed a property by Lindsay was a pleasant break from that and her approach and manner helped make it a much nicer and easier experience. As a first time buyer I thought that Romans performed better than the local competition throughout the sales process with lots of property availability, viewing availability and regular updates to the status of viewed properties (in particular Cassim). The comms in the sales process was great and the bid process was good. I did find the after acceptance - completion process less transparent than I was expecting and I was often chasing the after sales process team for updates. I must say that any communication with the aftersales team was very good - in particular Bernadette and Paula. My bid was accepted in late January with no onward chain for either the buyer nor the seller. I did use the Romans preferred solicitors - Lamb Brooks.
