We worked with Angela Williams throughout the purchase of our new home in York. She was wonderful!! We met her on the launch day for the property and she very helpfully played with our two young boys as we looked around the house! This was most appreciated so we could have a really good look at the house without kids hanging off us! She facilitated communications with the vendor and explained their journey to selling. She was genuinely really motivated to support the couple as they had had a bit of a long road to finally selling and this natural interest very reassuring. We feel that we really lucked-out in having Angela supporting us throughout our sale, a very knowledgeable, friendly, and lovely person who we feel was genuinely happy for us when our offer was accepted! Had an issue with a bill resulting in electricity and gas being shut off unexpectedly. Informed Tom Hawes of Preston Baker who is always very responsive and helpful, polite and hardworking. He gets things done quickly and professionally. Liased with billing companies and the landlord on our behalf and he got our electricity issue resolved. Also full of very handy advice. A pleasure to work through house issues with. Can’t recommend Preston Baker enough purely for the professionalism and thoroughness of this man.

Preston Baker were exceptionally good which justifies the relatively high commission costs. Angela was extremely helpful and organised the launch day very well, which resulted in a sale above the asking price within 3 days of the launch as they had predicted. The house though needing much renovation had great potential with original Art Deco features and in a brilliant location. Angela negotiated the sale for me and looked after the whole sale process extremely efficiently. She was very supportive and helped immensely at the end by involving the buyers, also extremely kind, in helping to clear and pack the contents of the house. Conveyance was through the recommended solicitors in Leeds, also very helpful but once again rather expensive with extra costs added from the initial quote. Overall extremely pleased with the help and support provided by Angela and Preston Baker.

There wasn't one house that I viewed with Preston Baker that wasn't beautiful, and the price was great and in accordance with the quality. Even though I did not end up renting with them, I highly recommend Preston Baker in York. In particular, Helen Jollands is a top professional and person that will really care for the potential tenant/buyer and their needs, and Holly Stonehouse is another example of an agent that provides top-class service. This agency's professionalism went as far as to providing me with advice, even when I managed to find a house and take it off the market through another agency; they knew that as a new professional, I had struggled a lot with house hunting, and they did not hesitate to help and answer my questions. For all the above, and taking into consideration my experience with other agencies in York, I highly recommend Preston Baker. During this time, I have been looked after by Alex Renardson, whose service and support I cannot fault. No request has been too much to deal with, and no question has been too difficult to handle. It is a slick well-oiled machine, but the agents know their stuff, they really care and pull their finger out to a) get the best possible sale price and b) help make the next stage of the process through to completion as painless as possible. Angela looked after my sale and was brilliant. I simply don’t know how she manages to do it and stay upbeat and give level headed advice. She went above and beyond and I am hugely grateful. Now, I am biased slightly. I used to be the marketing manager at Preston Baker 4 years ago. This means I have seen all the numbers for property launch and know first hand how much the company cares about getting its clients a higher price. Well it works, we accepted our first offer which was £12k over our asking price - a month or so later the buyer pulled out which meant our in second launch we got a lower offer. But the principle worked and I can’t recommend Preston Baker enough. Again a massive thank you to Angela. Solicitors / conveyancers take ages and aren’t the best communicators so I appreciate her persistence in maintains communications up and down the chain on my behalf. Thanks all.

I rented a flat for just under two years with Preston Baker. The positive aspects of my service from them were: 1. They got the paperwork sorted in very quick time, over the Christmas/New Year period. 2. They were understanding and non-judgemental when we said our reason for moving was eviction by a rogue landlord. 3. Installed a new carpet throughout before our moving in. 4. Friendly, upbeat staff. Some negative experiences: 1. Being inspected once every three months for "structural issues". Was really inconvenient. 2. Slow response on some things that needed fixing, however generally prompt if the email was marked URGENT. I believe PB have made improvements on this since. 3. I complained when someone wanted entry to the flat without the 24-hour notice period. While this did happen after I had given our notice to terminate our occupancy, the contract was still binding. My complaint was met with a "well you are moving out soon" response and a promise to chase up what had happened. This wasn't followed up, so a week later, I called again to ask what happened, and there wasn't an explanation nor apology. 4. The £60 check-out fee is a joke. What other industry charges you to stop using their services without a breach of contract? If I wasn't on the verge of homelessness, I wouldn't have agreed to this in the tenancy agreement. Overall, no better and no worse than other lettings agents. Fees comparably similar to others. Would be happy to use their services again.
