It was such a privilege to experience foraging for foods that would later be turned into a delicious fine dining experience.
We foraged with Dan during the day, along the riverbank and through the woods, while learning plentiful about the plants we walk past everyday without stopping to question their properties or uses. Dan was an excellent host, an encyclopaedia of foraging goodness!
We came back to the restaurant in the evening for an intimate fine dining experience. Matt’s attention to detail and passion for using local ingredients was magical to watch. Each dish was so creative, to a degree I haven’t experienced before in fine dining.
Matt and Naomi were exceptional hosts, and you can truly see, the huge labour of love they put into this restaurant.
Thank you for being the highlight of our trip to Pembrokeshire!

Just stunning. Eating in the intimate wonderfully curated ambience of Annwn was profound. I have never tasted food of this quality. It was an adventure, and the passion, processes, and creative flair were far and beyond anything I have experienced before or will experience. We felt it was a once in a life time experience and one that will be treasured as one of the most exciting and rewarding culinary experiences of my life.

Wow! What an incredible dining experience we had on Saturday. Not only did the food taste amazing but Matt's passion and knowledge was extremely interesting; opened our eyes to a world of culinary possibilities right on our doorstep. Thank you for an evening that we won't forget.

A fantastic foraged feast!
An amazing evening start to finish with incredible flavours from all different dishes. Everything is based on locally foraged foods and Matt draws out a depth of flavour in each element that shows his absolute passion for both cooking and foraging. His descriptions and stories behind each dish were informative and inspiring. A night to remember!

Wow! This is local and wild ingredients transformed into food as art. The most memorable and unique food experience I’ve had. All my party were blown away. Matt is a genius and a total one-off. The menu takes time to work through so set the whole evening aside and arrive hungry - you won’t have experienced food like this before!

Had an absolutely amazing Valentine's meal at Annwn with Matt and Naomi. The intimacy of Annwn, with the history behind Matt's dishes, coupled with the knowledge of the source and rareness of some of the ingredients, not to mention the dishes themselves completely sets it apart! It was great to be able to interact and quiz him through the experience and he was more than happy to share the history on each course and how it's sourced showing his passion for each part of them! Thank you both! As said at the end, look forward to seeing you again.

We spent the most wonderful few days away relaxing and recharging at the little retreat. The highlight of our stay was a day spent foraging on the shores of the cleddau estuary. Our foraged gatherings were then turned into the most spectacular tasting menu by Matt at Annwn, a small and intimate restaurant within the grounds of the little retreat. Matt and Naomi are so obviously passionate about food and hospitality and it showed through in every mouthful of the creative menu and attention to detail. Annwn may be a secret destination but it won’t be for long. This is seriously good food which rivals any Michelin starred restaurant I’ve eaten in and I recommend a visit soon!

We had the privilege of dining with Mat recently at this gem of a restaurant. Having eaten in many high end restaurants this would rank alongside and better than most. This foraged dining experience was truly incredible, the attention to process (curing, pickling etc), detail, taste and care from just Mat in the kitchen was magical. A real journey of Pembrokeshire foraged food. A lesson in the importance of preserving what we have for free in our countryside.

Matt & Naomi served a seriously delicious multi course dinner from a huge range of ingredients. Listening to the processes showed how much work, time and thought had gone into each element of each dish. I can only begin to imagine the years of work that have gone into perfecting each one. The stars of the show are a Kelp broth that has a serious mushroom depth & the Hare dish, which lo and behold does taste like a darn good Steak.
I would recommend you give this a try

We spent the most fabulous evening celebrating our anniversary at Annwn. Matt & Naomi were awesome hosts and treated us to the most amazing dining experience. We have eaten at Raymond Blancs restaurant where Matt spent a couple of years, I can confidently say that The food at Annwn was better, it was that good!! Do yourself a favour and check it out for yourself…

Quite simply the best dining experience on offer in Pembrokeshire, made extra special by the fact that most of the food you’ll eat has come from the local surroundings, and if that isn’t good enough then the experience is topped off by the sheer brilliance of Matt’s passion for the best possible way in which those ingredients can be presented.
In a lovely intimate loft setting the welcome is warming, and engaging the food will take you on a journey which can be intriguing, scintillating, uplifting and in places even touching. If you love Pembrokeshire then you must eat here because it’s as close as you can get to consuming it fully!!

I visited Annwn Valentine’s weekend, what an experience!! Matt the chef exposing everybody who enters to the beautiful dishes that can be created within the surroundings of the beautiful Pembrokeshire national park. Inspiration is taken from elements of the dishes that can be fished from the seas, or foraged and farmed from the land. As well as a Welsh folklore twist to the tale of the dishes. The restaurant is an intimate but cosy setting. Matt preparing the dishes whilst you chat and drink. It’s easy to get to know the other diners and share your thoughts on the dishes as we venture on this magical journey to the ‘otherworld’(Annwn in welsh mythology) together. And you actually feel that. The dishes are presented and explained by Matt, and you can just see the effort that has gone into some of the dishes (some of the elements take months or even years to prepare) and it shows. If you’re in the Pembrokeshire national park area of south west Wales, or if you like fine dining and want to try something a little different, this place is well worth a try. The menu changes with the seasons, I can’t wait to see what’s in store in the summer months!

An amazing experience - we did the foraging day followed by dinner at Annwn. We learnt a huge amount about what can be eaten in the wild and then were presented with elements that evening at dinner. The food was top quality, every course was exquisitely presented with interesting flavours. The highlight was eating many things we hadn't tried before. I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique culinary experience.

We did the full foraging and dining experience - not our first time doing it with Matt and his team, and another fantastic day. It's spectacular to see what can be done with such local ingredients, and it is really an amazing and highly recommended day.
A great gift idea - that's how we first found it (even before the restuarant was there) and we loved it so decided to go back ourselves since!

Thank you Matt and Naiomi for a wonderful evening. Matt has gone to extraordinary lengths to locally source and choose his ingredients which are of the highest quality. His attention to detail is incredible, he obviously loves his role and sharing his joy in the wonderful produce of the area. Prior to each course every element of the preparation and cooking of the dish was described .The meal was a treat to behold and savour. This is our second experience of this unique dining experience and we are already looking forward to our next.

Beautiful presentation, work of Art!
Food taste sensation, wild food foraged daily, cooked, fermented or preserved in traditional ways. Great for the gut microbiome and taste buds.. The chef was passionate about quality locally sourced foods, attentative, knowledgeable and it was obvious he loved what he does. You will never experience anything like this. The atmosphere was perfect; relaxed, clean and friendly. Well worth a visit. 👌🏼

Annwn Restaurant is Pembrokeshire’s latest addition to fine dining. This outstanding restaurant has a unique menu of foraged foods that Chef Patron Matt Powell displays pure theatre and outstanding flavours with his locally foraged produce. During my visit in March 2022 I tasted delicious seasonal food that tantalised my taste buds. Limpet Mouse and littoral zone seaweeds, Kelp broth with siphon weed emulsification with sea radish and scurvy grass are some of the more unusual dishes at this fantastic dining experience. The Turbot with a delicious fresh laver seaweed was to die for. This is a great experience you do not want to miss and Chef Matt’s knowledge of foraging and years of crafting his trade at the highest level are evident here.

unbelievably good, attention to detail in taste and presentation all with locally foraged ingredients rates with any restaurant globally. Go now before the world beats a path to Matt's door in Lawrenny. The welcome from Naomi and intimacy of a 10 seat restaurant make it more personal and memorable.
