Reviews of Tafarn y Maes

Firstly we had a good welcome. Then the food was outstanding. Starters were plentiful and tasty. (Only possible criticism was the Thai soup was more of a curry soup, but still very good). Steaks were perfectly cooked, full of flavour. Would highly recommend this place.

Lovely, quiet place to eat and spend time in general. Very clean. Great staff and a good choice of dishes. The pizzas in particular are excellent. We will definitely be back!

What a fantastic little gem! We had Sunday lunch here during a recent weekend stay nearby. The welcome was very warm and friendly, the interior is lovely and the staff very helpful. They catered for my food allergies and even sorted out additional things with prior warning. I was shocked to be offered a vegan gluten free dessert - a rarity in some places. Not only that, it was DELICIOUS. Our server - Michelle - deserves a special mention for her excellent customer service and friendly manner. Excellent hygiene and covid protocols as well. Thank you Tafarn y Maes.

Ate here for lunch two days in a row and it’s sensational! Chef Ludo is one of the best in the business. First lunch, we had the specials including pigeon and guinea fowl. Today we had the Sunday roast. This place is a must for anyone from near or far! Very friendly and welcoming staff too

Had to drive from Oxford to aberystwth 200 miles this was the only place we passed it at 9, 30 am done a quick u turn to find out if it was definitely open and I must say the full Welsh breakfast did not disappoint ,if anything it was probably to much , exceptionally great value for money, nice friendly staff , service very quick and not preheated food , I wish them all the best in the future and will definitely be returning 100% from me and my dad thank you once again 😀 just glad no one else was open on our route in the early morning , hopefully see you again

This is a place worth travelling to. It's really nicely done up, and the food is extremely high level - amongst the absolute best experiences I've had in many years of eating around these parts. There's the usual pub classics like gammon with egg and pineapple which are flawlessly executed plus some more adventurous options like a stunning beetroot and goats cheese risotto. Don't leave without trying the black pudding scotch egg which is glorious.

Stopped off on the way home with no reservation. Seen from the side of the road as driving by. Lunch was good. Generous portions, especially the children's meals. Rustic feel to the restaurant, which looks to have an open fire in the winter.
