The food quality is reasonable but it does seem quite expensive for what you get. The menu is a bit strange, instead of starters they have light bites like toasties, soup and haggis bon bons. Main courses include loads of different kinds of burgers and an £8 ceasar salad (without chicken; that costs extra). The restaurant itself is quite contemporary, very similar in style to the Wetherspoons that occupied the unit prior to this venue opening up here. The waitress was very nice, though extremely softly spoken so it was hard to hear her, but the service overall was good. I thought the meal was ok, very average, and not a particularly good deal. However not a bad choice if you're just looking for a hot basic dinner and you're stuck in the town centre of Bathgate. I would definitely not make a special trip to eat here in future though.

Had a fab time with friends and family for one of my friends birthday. Food was delicious big portions I had to get one of the lovely friendly staff to put the rest of my meal into foil coz I was gony burst...I shared my steak with my furbabies later on that night...Pippa & Marley gave it 5* aswel 🐶💗💙 😂

Food was delicious, staff very attentive and mid week deal is very affordable, will definitely be back.

Excellent. Perfectly attentive servers and just the right amount of interaction. Our servers were very pleasant, smiley and very helpful without being over bearing. Food itself was brilliant. If anything the mains were too much. That IS NOT a complaint !! I should have stuck to the wrap. Overall very pleasant experience.

My wife and I arrived with our two dogs to have food. Having done this previously we knew that we would be asked to sit at the bar side of the establishment. The waiter brought us water for the dogs and one of them lay down on my wife's jacket on a plastic bench seat. The waiter suggested this was OK. The waitress on shift then spoke to both dogs and we were told that the dog on her jacket was OK. Shortly after our food arrived I approached the man behind the bar to ask for salt and when he brought it he aggressively stated the dog wasn't allowed on the seat then he walked off. We sat for one minute then decided we were leaving but not before we went up to the bar to engage this man. He couldn't wait to tell us he was the restaurant manager and that he was implementing the policy on dogs. There was no hint of an apology for the way he spoke and he just kept repeating the same reply. We told him that we were leaving and he seemed non-plussed. He needs to go to customer service training and maybe even anger management. The bar where we had been seated had no other customers so there wouldn't be any complaint. We have just returned from The Lake District and found everywhere dog friendly but you can't find this at home. It seems to us that this place will close and the customer service may partly be to blame. We most definitely won't be back.

It's just okay. Food was quite tasty but quite expensive for what you actually get, especially the starters (2 spring rolls £7.50 as an example). Also, some of the cocktail ingredients were not in stock (!) which eliminated a few cocktails from the rather short list on offer anyway. Not for me, but others may like it.

Had a beautiful meal with friends here last night. Beautiful setting too. I had the king prawn Vivaldi and it was absolutely delicious and piping hot. Back next week and can’t wait 👍😃

Ate here on Sat 26th March around 6pm, I was greeted by 2 girls both very friendly, advised there was no space in the dining are but could eat in the bar side, given a menu and shown to a table. I ordered at the bar and again found the barman very friendly. I had the burger and chips and can honestly say it's the best burger I've had. It was my first visit here and will definitely be back soon

since the new owners have taken over in feb 2022 the food is fantastic. chic vibe, great cocktails, made properly not lile the “ open a sachet” type you tend to get in a lot of places. Great new DJ on a sat night playing top tunes inc House, dance etc , much better than the cheesy stuff used to play, its as good as any top chic bar on george street Edinburgh now and will deffo be back

Nice vibe, good menu with nice choice of light and bigger plates. Food tastes great although only tried a couple of things so far. Service is great with very attentive servers. Big improvement on the first time I went when it was quite new and staff seemed a little lost so training must be working and staff finding their feet now. Back soon!

A lovely venue with a city vibe, great to meet up with friends for a drink or a meal. Staff go out the way to make you feel welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The food especially the Sunday roast was delicious and very filling with great portion sizes!!

Good vibe at the weekends.... Atmosphere is good Saturday nights if the DJ plays the right up to date club tunes and not the 80s mush that was on last night.... Jesus!!!! I loved the 80s but I'm done with them tunes now that it's 2021... But otherwise love the place ♥

The food was spot on and the staff were very attentive. Great, inviting, open space with options of booths for some privacy. Very welcoming for families. Felt at ease with the kids and well looked after. Left with happy faces and full bellies. Looking forward to our next meal.

What an impressive job the Hopetoun have done in refurb of the premises. More importantly they have blended the ideal recipe of smart, welcoming and efficient staff with a great range of drinks and a realistic and tasty menu. I really enjoyed the prawn cocktail followed by the tandoori chicken burger which was a tasty adventure in eating not to mention a first. One of my friends had the fish and chips which certainly looked (and I'm told tasted) like the proverbial real thing. The Hopetoun deserves to be a great success.

Decor is lovely. Big different. Service was terrible but we thing she was new. Took our order, came back asked a question. Went away came back asked another question. And then did it again! The pie! Was just a massive pie on a plate. No veg, chips or anything. Pie was too big. Would have been better to half hit and add something else to the plate! Fish was a big size. Batter tasted rotten. Finished meal so wanted a good chat. Waitress asked us 5 times if we were okay and could she get us anything. No! On the 5th time we asked for the bill. If you go.

The food, service and decor are fantastic, amazing improvement on what it was like previously. I have been in many times and I can say that the Seabream and the smoked haddock croquettes are as good as ive had anywhere....the Sunday roast is excellent too!
