Wow. Food was stunning, food, staff and premises are spotless. Service is discreet and excellent. A really highly trained, professional team. The food is inventive, fresh and beautifully done. There is spice for flavour and done to perfection, you are able to choose for the table or individually, wine list is carefully chosen for the food. I look my family to dinner there tonight. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, the staff and owner made us feel special and welcome. They shook our hands and showed us to our seats. The decor of the restaurant was warm and inviting with a living room ambience. We had a number of Indian staple dishes and each dish was simple and delicious. The entire evening was an amazing experience and we will definitely be back.

Myself and my partner came here tonight for our anniversary and we were both amazed by the quality of the food. Not only was the food amazing but the staff were really friendly and seemed to truly care that you get the best experience at the restaurant. The portion sizes are perfect, and the prices are cheap for what you are getting. The moment we got our starters we already knew we would be returning in the future.

This is a real gem! I can honestly say it was the nicest curry I have ever had and I've had a lot. The staff we're very attentive without being too pushy. We dined in the Royal Gurkha for the first time a few days back and it's a winner for both of us. Walking through the door the first impression is of a clean and tastefully decorated dining area with well laid tables with quality cutlery and napkins etc. For us though what's important is the service and food, both of which get top marks. The service was friendly and attentive without being over bearing, but it was the food that was the 'pièce de résistance', the starter (momo steam) was a perfect preamble for the mains which we both remarked tasted freshly cooked and vibrant in flavour, colour and presentation. We'll definitely be returning.

We visited yesterday evening, on the occasion of my wife’s birthday. We had heard good things and went on recommendation of our son, who had been before. We were not disappointed. Lovely welcome by Mr Kumar Shrestha (owner) all staff were very smart and attentive. Food arrived promptly and was delicious.😋 I would go as far as saying everything passed off with military precision - no surprise as Mr Shrestha is a former Gurkha ‼️ For a Thursday the restaurant was busy so always worry booking if you want to visit. As Swartzenegger would say ‘I’ll be back‼️’

Nice ambience and excellent service. I did recommend them to make egg free Naan's for vegetarians as they complement traditional veg curries. You could go easy on amount of sugar you put in your curries (paneer) and Manchurian. That said, I would highly recommend them and Diya Royal in Kempston.

Before lock down we used to eat here often, but due to the current pandemic had a takeaway instead. After the current Government announcement we were there last night. Foods were absolutely delicious, arrived quickly and was piping hot. I find a lot of Indian takeaways and restaurants too greasy but this is the best ever. They always seem to get the blend of spices spot on too. Definitely the authentic Nepalese. Will definitely be ordering and dining again soon. This is the best Nepalese and authentic restaurant in Bedford.

Good food for good prices. The menu is a mix between Nepali and Indian dishes, westernised (having been to Nepal, outside the typical Momo plate, I did not recognised traditional dishes I would find there, such as Dal bhat - or maybe I haven’t read well -, or masala chai tea and Nepali milk tea). However, the food was very nice, service impeccable, and staff extremely welcoming and friendly. The place feels warm and professional. I do recommend for a nice and yummy time there ! (Photo below is one of the starters taken: sort of mix of peppers, onions and roots kind with a yummy sweet sauce)

AMAZING food, some of the best in Bedford. I have long been a fan of the sister restaurant in Kempston, and was recommended this one by the staff in there. It is certainly a more luxurious dining experience, with attentive staff and a large restaurant. Excellent, attentive service and professional manner. Cannot recommend the Biryani and noodle dishes enough.

My Boxing Day this year was topped off with a perfect meal from the Royal Gurkha ,the flavours in all of the dishes were fantastic but my go to is the Helambu Chicken. It’s also great to see a business owned by a former member of Her Majesty's armed forces too.

If there were more stars I'd give them to the Royal Gurkha! The food is authentic, different and delicious. Everything came out fresh and sizzling hot, and the service was excellent. The owner is very attentive and makes sure he says hello and goodbye (at least) to all his customers which is a lovely touch. He even remembered us from our last visit. Great place and we will definitely keep coming back.

A truly outstanding meal.The chicken starter was very tasty, the squid cooked to perfection. The lamb shank came in a superb spicy sauce and the mixed vegetable curry perhaps the best I've ever had. This is not your typical Indian restaurant fare, but embrace the difference of the Gurkha ( Nepali) influence and you will not be disappointed. Very attentive friendly service and very reasonable prices too. Excellent.

Very tasty Indian and true Nepalese food, also very good customer service. The famous Indian momos are available here. Also main dishes like Mix Grill, Sherpa Lamb Chops, Dum Ki Naali, Ever Sizzling Chizken Noodles are really awesome. Starters are very delicious. The staff there are very polite and humble. tried Royal Gurkha yesterday and got very impressed with Food and service. Their Steamed Chicken Momos were gorgeous, Tazilo Chicken was alright and breads were good too. Malabari Jhinga could have better creamy sauce but was still quite good. Ambience was pleasant, real star of the restaurant is Kumar(the manager), he was extraordinary when it comes to guest service and hospitality. He was knowledgeable and been an excellent host. Will visit again. Royal Gurkha and Blue Monk are 2 new amazing restaurants in Bedford.

But everything we ordered was utterly mouthwatering. The staff were lovely and welcoming. The owner came to chat and told us about the food and explained some Gurkha weaponry to us!! He himself served as a Gurkha. Really welcoming, lovely guy. Great hospitality and will definitely come back here after lockdown!

Food is delicious and full of flavour. The service wasn't the best unfortunately. Once seated we had a lengthy wait for the menus and had to ask for them in the end, not a massive issue. The venue is elegant and sedate and the menu is extensive with distinctive Nepalese dishes as well as Indian standards. The service is courteous and friendly and the food was of a high standard. The cosy cellar wine bar is also a good place to both kick off and round off your evening. Definitely going again.

We're mid 40s professional and eat out 2 or 3 times per week. We enjoy a range of cuisine, thai, Nepalese, Indian, mexican, Italian, British, European etc. The food is fantastic and typically cooked to perfection, great range of drinks, pleasant surroundings and ambiance. Highly recommend for date nights or celebrations. The staff are attentive and friendly and really make a person feel welcome. The Royal Gurkha is definitely one if our favourite spots for dining any day of the week.

We visited again during Lockdown 2 (takeaway, obviously) and the food was still great. King prawn curry was fab, the momos were great. Still 5 stars! We had our first visit this evening. I love momos so we had them in soup, then steamed, then fried. Fantastic. Taste was spot on, very authentic, just as you’d hope. To have three different styles of Momo, all available in lamb, chicken or veg, shows a real commitment to producing an authentic Nepalese experience. Wines and beers were good, decor was very good, all in all it was excellent and we’re really looking forward to the next visit and trying something else on the menu!! 😛

Absolutely outstanding - not only one of the best meals I’ve ever had in Bedford - one of the best ever, anywhere. Four blokes for lunch on Friday, one of them had tried the sister restaurant in Kempston a few times, and loved it, so I booked this new one as we all live in Bedford. Just faultless - service fabulous, wine properly cold, I had a brilliant lamb tikka starter, followed by Tezilo Chicken - all 15/10 - spicy, but not too spicy, beautiful flavours, served in very clever dishes that didn’t let it go cold and the chicken was cooked to perfection - I’ve told lots of people about the fantastic meal we had and have already made plans to return with girlfriend and other friends - the usual popular “Indian” restaurants need to really up their game now. Well done Royal Gurkha - see you very soon !
