Not sure I'll be able to do the food justice. Genuinely fantastic food. I had a grilled cheese and it's very possibly the best grilled cheese I have had. Soft bread, which incredibly held together, and a stunning filling. I'll be dreaming of the katsu fries for a while. If you are in Belfast then you have to go.

2 really good mains and a decent side. For this reason it scraped the 4th star. We had to sit ourselves when we entered and waited about 5 mins before a member of staff came out from behind the scenes and the music was way too loud. Could hardly hear ourselves talk and found ourselves shouting. That really did disappoint our trip as we had been looking forward to coming here for a while and our first visit was was a let down.

Not a huge menu but what they do is excellent. A few solid options for vegetarians. Great Icelandic beer I'd never tried before. Staff are lovely. Despite being in a container they manage to keep it warmed up. Can't wait to go back!

Amazing food & service every time here! Delicious menu with great options and a willingness to make adjustments for various dietary requirements, including veggie, gluten-free, and with a dedicated vegan menu. And also picture-perfect presentation! Upbeat, friendly atmosphere, tunes on the go, and if you're lucky, you might have a wee doggie seated nearby! The effort that goes into this place is evident and I'm pretty certain that anyone who gives it a try soon becomes a regular.

The weather was excellent so we enjoyed outdoor dining with fabulous food! Definitely recommend going and will be back for the French toast with bacon, egg and rhubarb! 😋 The staff were really helpful and friendly.

Really really great food and friendly staff! However, we waited 50 mins to an hour for food and the background music was crazy loud - could barely have a conversation or hear ourselves think. Also, the ground was a little dirty. Maybe not the best spot for a relaxing lunch/brunch but would be a good breakfast/dinner spot I'd say.

Well presented food and overall very tasty in a great location. A few disappointments: Half a banh mih for £11 is very steep. Cash only is bizarre, particularly in current circumstances. You are able to see into the kitchen, a nice feature, but not when you can see the chef casually texting on his phone and then preparing food without washing his hands. In terms of social distancing it was very good and well spaced out. All staff wore masks (even if a few had it beneath their noses)

Very nice eating experience of course the lovely weather meant you can sit outside and enjoy the location , very clean bright and staff very attentive and friendly great for the tourists too. It is a bit hard to see from the main road but definitely worth a visit Update. I have been dining here for over a year now ,my favourite place . I try to go at least once a week. I have never been disappointed and regularly surprised, The food is always amazing they use the best quality fresh ingredients, and you can tell, there’s a lot of love in the cooking . All the staff are great a real friendly welcoming atmosphere... a fantastic addition to the area .. 🌟 🌟 🌟 ⭐️ ⭐️

Great food with an Asian-ish twist. Not cheap but then not expensive either. Set in the heart of east Belfast in converted shipping containers. Staff are great too. Not licensed but you can BYO. On the downside £6.00 corkage for wine and one bottle of beer is a bit steep. Coffee isn't great either.

We drove 4hrs up to Belfast from South Tipperary for the weekend and had a massive welcome the second we landed in the door.. Michael and the lads in Freight are gas craic and their food is savage. Highly recommend any dish my wife is vegetarian and I'm a meat eater, we were both blown away by the quality, service and friendliness.

I've had a number of brunches at the CS Lewis Square restuarant and recently an evening meal for the first time. The menu is consistently very good with dishes that are full of flavour and interesting twists. I - The place A nice and hip café with an interesting menu (and taste in music?) II - The Food and mood As we wanted to see East Belfast, we spotted Freight and made a brunch stop there. The setting is actually interesting, with a good and bright space and nice comfy furniture. The staff was also very nice and helpful, funny also, while remaining discreet and efficient. About the mood, my only comment would be that the music is wayyyy too loud, particularly when the electro tracks kick in. They are nice, but I don't need to feel like I'm in a club while eating brunch. On the food side, things got really interesting. The fish tacos were excellent, and the Vietnamese omelette was also full of flavour, overall a great value. I was surprised by the "wet" pad thai, but both the broth and noodles were very good. The snickers cake is a bit rich to my taste, but that's more me being silly as everything is well laid on the menu haha. III - Anything special? An unusual setting and fairly original menu, mixing brunch items with Asian fusion and other odd proposition, which can often be suspicious but here very well executed. IV - Verdict A place I would happily go back to, particularly to try the many other original dishes, but hopefully with a softer soundtrack haha. Recommended.

We’ve just devoured a covid take away dinner and it was fantastic. Beautiful starter of goats cheese and pea tart followed by fish pie and lamb shoulder and a veggie cauliflower steak. All cooked and tasted delicious, as good as the main restaurant always is. Very very tasty, arrived on time, fab value and will do again! Such a shame to not give this place a more positive review. The food is excellent, easily one of the best places in Belfast for brunch however the staff member that served us was just too full on. No idea why but we were greeted by an incredibly loud member of staff, who continued to shout throughout our entire experience. We were also sat beside the automatic door when there were plenty of other tables available. As well as having to wait a bit too long to make an order which of course was needlessly yelled back at us. It actually got the point that we were laughing at the staff's lack of professional manner. Having spoke to two other people who have visited the restaurant, they have said they had the exact same experience, incredible food but terrible staff. I hate to say it, but the conduct of the staff really did spoil our brunch. Which is just a sadness as I really would love to go back!

Had heard about this place on the news so called in for brunch today - was not disappointed! Lovely Asian themed grub, well cooked and good portion sizes. Big shout out to the chef who sent us over an extra bowl of DELICIOUS XO fries (have to find out what they use for them) and to the gentleman who served us who also threw in a couple of coffees on the house - nice touch and good service! Will be back to try different things once I get over this food coma!! :) Lovely local munch!

I had a mixed experience - on the positive side Freight has a nice modern interior and the food was nice. On the negative side the menu is extremely pretentious to the point where an explanation might be required, the air con made the place absolutely freezing and finally they struggled to understand multiple food allergies (gluten and egg) - they kept offering me things that were gluten free but contained egg or vice versa. Having said that they did fair better than some places in respect to my allergies. I would go back because the food really was nice but would dress warmly.

Very spacious and lots of light. I found there was little signage as to how the service worked: Do we find a seat? Do we wait to be shown a table? Do we queue? The place was quiet so when we were told to just find a seat, it wasn't much of a struggle. The menus themselves were hard to read as the ink had rubbed off a bit. Our waitress apologised for this this does present problems for those with vision impairment. I do think there is room for improvement but as they've only recently opened, I would extend my grace of custom and defiantly look forward to returning.

I went for lunch to Pot, kettle, black, and unfortunately I wasn't overly impressed. The menu is a bit fancy for here and I can't help feeling that it's more a café trying to be a bistro. The staff were attentive and welcoming, but the fact that it's a container was obvious in that you couldn't have a proper conversation because of the sheer volume of chatter. In fact my ears were relieved when I left. I do hope I'm not doing the place an injustice, but, I can only be honest.

Luscious lunch 4stars When you go to Freight, you know you are going to have great food.
