Excellent food, excellent service. Served by Lauren, a hard working young woman with a friendly smile. Nothing was to much trouble for her and she never stopped smiling. Ask Italian, and Lauren, we had a meal that melted in our mouths and the welcome atmosphere made it a very special night. We will definitely be back

Yes! We spent the weekend in Birmingham with my best friend, we wanted to have a quick meal before our train was due and came to this place as our last meal in Birmingham. I think George was greeting us(sorry if I missed your name) and followed up with excellent service from our waitress… could not catch her name, but on my receipt is Emilia(I believe she was a manager). I had seafood pasta and my friend had vegan AND gluten free pasta. It is nice to know that this place can accommodate people with different food beliefs and on the top of that they are making us welcomed. Definitely will be back!

Had a delicious meal here with my family. We had pasta, pizza, sea bass and lasagne, all dishes were cooked very well and super tasty. The head chef served us our mains which was really cool in its own right, and then as a surprise, he made us an off-menu family recipe dessert!! Just as his mother used to make for him. This was such a lovely treat and a really personal gesture of kindness- it really made our evening. The restaurant itself is really nice and service is quick and good. Thank you!

This place was fantastic! The servers moved tables to make space to fit us in without a reservation, and were super attentive of a member of our party who was coeliac. They provided a gluten-free menu with lots of choices. The pizzas were really tasty and the staff helped us find the best deals to get cheap desserts, which were delicious! The atmosphere was great and it's a five minute walk to Birmingham New Street. Thoroughly recommend!

If you have not been to an Ask restaurant before, or even if you have, then you may not realise you can have a good meal here for much less than you think. Two can share a main course, then add a side and take advantage of the free dessert offer. I find that the food is good and the service always friendly and helpful. The only problem for me (and I bet it's not just me) is that they want you to do your order over an App. OK, this can be straightforward unless you would like to make any adjustments to your order such as adding pepperoni to one half. Good luck with that!

Great experience today. Ordered to take out via online and the food was ready and being packed when I arrived. The gentleman offered to help me take the food to my car in the car park as I didn’t park on the street l, but in a nearby car park. This was very kind. We popped in for lunch because everywhere else was busy and we were glad we choose Ask Italian. We were seated straight away. We expected bland food, bland service but we were pleasantly surprised. Despite the December rush the food and service were of good a standard and we really enjoyed our lunch.

Beautifully presented restaurant but the food falls short of expectations in my opinion. I've been twice this year and ordered the specialty vegan pizza, both times the pizza has arrived lukewarm and been basically cold within 10 minutes of having it. I went yesterday and ordered the spicy vegan n'duja pizza. The pizza arrived, no n'duja, after I highlighted this it was brought over to me cold in a condiment pot and I was told it was supposed to be served on the side. I believe this was a lie, they'd forgotten to put it on the pizza and lied to save themselves making a new one. I'm unimpressed to say the least. Courgette frittes are always nice & the elderflower drink was nice so I didn't bother to complain but I won't be going back if I can help it. Overpriced and underwhelming unfortunately.

Been to Ask Italian many times and enjoyed it many times. However this particular branch of Ask is very mediocre. Food is it's usual standard chain style Italian food however the service is what really let's this restaurant down. It's simply abysmal! It took, 10mins to order food, then took 10mins to receive drinks! And they didn't even apologize! Will go to Ask again...just not this particular one

Big place that caters to groups of all sizes and covers the full menu of pastas, pizzas and everything Italian in between. Great for those that have food allergies or are vegan as there are separate menus to order from. Staff are good and helpful as well.

We had gone into Birmingham for The German Market...and we always go to Bella Italia for our meal....but decided on Ask Italian for a change. We didn't have to wait long for a table...even though it was extremely busy...The place was buzzing and the staff were amazing...very efficient and friendly. We thought we'd have to wait a while for our food...but were surprised at how quickly it came...and it was all beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. Excellent value for money too.

During our evening meal, we were seated behind the door. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy, and the staff were relatively attentive. I was delighted to learn that all orders were made on the app. Running the food order process like this enables the customer to choose the speed that the food comes out - a personal bug bare of mine when dining out. The food was fresh and well cooked, I was delighted to taste an Ask Italian pizza after being away for so long. The reason this visit didn’t achieve five stars was due to being rushed at the end. It was near closing time and the lights were put up to full and the music turned off. Not the best ending to a rather pleasant evening. I would have preferred some light communication on closing time rather than the indirect measures to encourage customers to leave. Service was good and both waiters were pleasant.

Friendly staff. I love the starters, mains are okay but always disappointed at the dessert menu as they hardly have anything left from the menu and I’ve been quite a few times. I wanted the chocolate orange tart but they didn’t have any today either so went for the baked chocolate gnocchi and I wasn’t a fan... However a nice place to eat overall... worth it because of the taste card :)

Came in the off peak hour, but waited more then half an hour just to get a starter. Waited another 15mins to get the main dish, 25mins for the dessert. While the restaurant was not even busy, had no more then 5 tables, staffs were the right amount. the table came 20mins after me even got there main dish before me. You can hear the kitchen staff chatting, the main dish I had was asparagus pasta, all sticked together and was not worth the price and it was the most loved ones which was recommended on the menu. Dessert was the white chocolate swirl, it’s very nice but very slow. The staffs were very friendly but the food was extremely slow, can’t imagine how it would be like in a rush hour. Also staff did not ask for any allergies, which most restaurants do.

Firstly, the boring part, this place has excellent government guidelines in place during the pandemic and the staff made sure tables were clean and they kept their distance throughout our meal The food was lovely and portions were fantastic. I don't hate the restaurant at all. In fact , there's a lot of positives about the premises & the staff. Me & My Partner arrived at about 5.43pm (22/02/20). It was our first time here was greeted by an assistant,.She first sorted out a query regarding the use of a gift voucher to find out if it was acceptable at the restaurant..which it was, then we were shown to our table. The menu looked good from starter to dessert, in which we had 3 courses, which was very tasty. Chefs hats off to the Chefs for the food. The Staff were friendly, attentive & you couldn't fault the service. The place was busy & lively. Looking forward to our next visit & will be recommend this restaurant to friends & family. We had a delicious lunch here, my friend had a pasta dish which looked lovely and I had a caprino pizza which was very tasty and nicely cooked. The company adhere strictly to covid guidelines which is great to see. Part of this however involves ordering and paying on your phone which relies on your phone being able to read a qr code. Note: not all phones automatically read a qr code - you may need qr code reader app and not everyone has a smartphone, believe it or not! Helpfully, they allowed us to order by conventional verbal means, and during our meal my friend managed to down load a qr code reader and we were able to pay using that method, although I'm not entirely sure what the perceived risk of a contact less card payment is! So be prepared when you eat here or anywhere else, places may quail at the sight of cash, or even a card contact less payment - so these are enquiries worth making before booking. I'm saying this to be helpful and not as a complaint. Food and service were excellent and I would go back again.

Popped in for a quick fixed price meal at 5pm on a Friday. Warm welcome, nice atmosphere and decor. Tables are well spaced out. Our meals were perfect portion sizes for eating 3 courses. With this said, it wasn't terrible however we did not pay to treat like warm food. Vegan green pizza, wasn't what I expected, a little disappointed as I've had other similar pizzas from ASK that were much better. But would still recommend the ASK chain as a whole.

It's the end of November and understandably they're trying to promote their festive menu - we had to ask for the "two courses for a fixed price" lunch menu but it was so worth asking! Service was really quick and the pasta dishes and desserts were superb. I like Ask Italian's habit of starting you off with a little glass of their gorgeous "proper" lemonade.

First and foremost, I’m typing this review based on my last visit with a friend of mine. Overall, I must acknowledge the efficiency and quality of the service given from the waitress who, by the way, has provided us with a five star experience: attention to detail and care for the customers besides the much over average quality of the food. I’m Italian myself and consider my cooking skills to be high enough to know how a particular recipe and specific food should taste like. Loved it !! I’ll come back again and again to try something different every time

Really enjoyable meal. We came after a show at the town hall as it was an alright walk from there. Fairly quiet for a Saturday in Birmingham when we arrived but got busier. Food was good - however the garlic bread with cheese barely had any cheese on them. Service was slow in places but understanable with how busy the restaurant was and our waitress was very friendly and appologetic when she noticed a wait between courses.

Went here once for an evening meal and was pleasantly surprised. It has a nice open plan style seating, which does actually provide some privacy. The menu items are clearly authentically Italian and done well. I thought the price was reasonable also for what was served. Toilet facilities very clean and tidy - something which I think says a lot about an establishment.

Ordered the four cheese ravioli, and a chicken pasta dish , had to send back the ravioli, no cheese inside and so hard that I’d have probably cracked my tooth eating it .also the beef Ragu was burnt and virtually non existent...the chicken pasta was just spicy but bland even after having Parmesan on it ! Staff ok but not really up to par with staff at the solihull branch ...who are always very very attentive and happy . Also the food seems to be a lot better there !

It's a chain Italian restaurant. You know what you're going to get - adequate, filling food which won't be the best taste experience you've ever had but will reliably rate a solid "okay". Service was pleasant but not very attentive - the garlic bread and a stack of plates were dropped on our table with alacrity before the waiter disappeared too quickly to speak to - and the table was visually clean but had crumbs on it to the touch. So, so-so.

Lovely food, good service, and great at accommodating a very last minute booking. Only slightly marred by the fact we overheard a manager telling off a member of staff. He was teying to be discrete, but really, rather than do it in the restaurant, I feel that should happen privately out the back. This has a good menu and prices are average, the quality is always good; I'd say it's an upper market chain where you can always be certain the food will be good quality.

Great food. Great staff. It was the first time there and it was wonderful. Love the Italian touch with the lemonade shot. The only thing was the carbonara didn't taste very good, missing some salt. But overall, great restaurant. Really recommend!

Great waiter and food. My only gripe is that I had to wait ages for a glass of wine, so had nothing to drink with my main course. By the time the wine arrived I had just a little food left and that was cold. Then a large glass of red to drink, which did not exactly complement the dessert. TIMING!!!

Always good at ASK. This particular one is nestled centrally in the middle of Birmingham. Great location. It wasnt too busy for a Saturday evening, and the staff did a great job of getting round to everyone in good time. The food was great but I am a little unsure whether a Prima pizza really is bigger or more generous than a normal one. It actually looked smaller and less generously topped that my girlfriend's normal sized pizza.

I ordered the spicy arrabiata chicken pasta and it was very tasty and came in good time. The waiter that served me was really nice however there was another waitress whom I asked if I could order my food as I was in a rush however she rudely replied that she was busy and told me wait, then the same waitress served my food to the another table. Another waiter told her that the food was meant to be for me so she just took the food of the other table and gave it to me without saying sorry and then seemed quite annoyed when I asked for seasoning pepper.

Despite being peak time during the Christmas Market where visitors flock to Birmingham, ASK Italian still provided prompt service as well good food and drink. The staff were really attentive and helpful and the atmosphere was nice and warm (despite it being cold outside!) Located perfectly on the central street of Birmingham this is a great choice if you want good tasting Italian food in the heart of the city.

As for the food, you know what you're getting. As for the service, considering its 3:00pm, incredibly slow. Even when making eye contact with staff, they just don't come to your table. Will visit again as the food is ok but that staff need to be more attentive.

Very disappointed that it has gone downhill quite a bit since last year. Menu has been changed and now they don't cater for those with a small appetite as they once did by doing half portions.I used to eat here all 4 nights I was in Birmingham but this year once was enough. Very busy and service took awhile. The food was just ok, I had the spaghetti pomodoro and it wasn't flavorful and was slightly old as if it had been sat for awhile before serving. Prices are reasonable. The pizzas didn't have much sauce or cheese on top and the toppings were just in the middle. Not great but OK. There was an olive in my aperol spritz which was quite peculiar. Who does that?

I have been to this restaurant twice and both times, i have immensely enjoyed the food. It is well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The butterfly prawns are delicious as well as the calamari. I would highly recommend this establishment to all, fantastic dining!

Here we have a chain of Italian restaurants, one of which located right in the centre of Birmingham City Centre. Firstly It look very nice from outside, sophisticated, and cosy. On entering this theme continues with the inside of the restaurant looking warm and quite authentic. I visited at 6pm on a Wednesday and waited about 15 mins for a table of 3. The environment looked good but it was a very noisy restaurant. Due In part to the decor but was hard to even hear my fellow diners talk. Food was ordered and the staff working quickly but the place did look a little dirty, not un clean but just food debris everywhere. The bar was covered in drinks and dishes from dinner services. The food quality was good, all the meals were cooked to a good standard and tasted nice, some were a little cool. And the food did take 40mins for a starter and then the main was only 10 mins after. Overall there was nice food, good decor but a little slow in service and loud environment. To pricing now and for the food we had I'd say it was well priced. It isn't a cheap night out but the price truly reflects the food prep and quality. Shame the food I had was not a little warmer. Would of possible gained a star.

Having arrived in Birmingham for a meeting, which incidentally dear reader went very well. I found myself rather edacious for some tasty consumables. Wandering around the busy streets filled with business people, merry makers, the poor and unfortunate along with the ferral and feckless I entered into Ask italian. Being acquainted with Italian cusine I decided to indulge my rapacious appetite with thier bountiful offerings. The surroundings were appealing, comfortable and clean with the scent of bruccetta permeating the air. My order taken quickly arrived with a warm smile , which continued throughout my stay at the afore mentioned eatery. The food stuffs were delicious in taste and the price was not hard on the pocket. A quick coffee to abate my rapidly approaching carbo-snooze I left the building while still munching on a small delicate biscotti.

Let me start off with the most important matter, the food. I ordered a Pork Belly Porchetta for 14.50 pounds, illustrated in my picture. The broccoli on the side is a nice and healthy addition to the rather prosaic presentation and weak taste of the meal's supposed superstar, the slow-roasted pork. Perhaps the fault lies partially on my side, for going with a main to be found in the meat and fish section in the far-right lower corner of the menu, rather than with one of the numerous pizza or pasta variations advertised in the centre. Nevertheless, the meal satisfied my hunger which is great. Service and atmosphere are on the brighter side compared to the food, with the former being quick, friendly and attentive, and the latter being family-friendly while not necessarily Italian. If I remember correctly the playlist included Rita Ora and other currently popular pop artists. Maybe one or two Eros Ramazotti tunes would spread the expected Italian flair at least on a superficial level. Oh, and a funny fact, they ran out of my friend's initial liquid dessert choice, Bailey's. How can you ever run out of Bailey's? On the whole, out of all the Italian restaurants I have been to in Birmingham, Ask Italian would be among the better places, but is unable to hold a candle to La Galleria located only a few minutes by foot away.
