Reviews of Celebrity Indian Restaurant
A. R.
Firstly, let's talk about the good things -
Ambience excellent
Customer service 5 stars
Music good
Easy to locate
Waiting time after ordering the food - hardly 10 mins
The final part -
FOOD - we ordered chicken Tikka makhani , 2 tandoori rotis , dal tadka, drink and lamb Tikka
Chicken Tikka makhani - portion was ridiculously less , chicken was hard, curry was sweet and absolutely had no taste.
Lamb Tikka - my son could eat lamb for breakfast, lunch and dinner, whatever the quality of lamb is , it doesn't matter to him. But here he literally couldn't finish the plate was the lamb was very hard.
Dal tadka - we ordered it as a side dish and again the portion was beyond imagination.
Taste wise , it tasted like pithala.
Rotis - were good, only thing that we could finish. But 2 tandoori rotis for £7 is insane and on top of that gratuity 🙄
Waiters - were very sweet, so the 3 star rating is for ambience and the waiters and 0 stars for the food.
Orange chocolate - served along with the bill, that was lovely. I asked for few more and the waiter gave me 4.The chocolates helped me change the taste of mouth 😂
I wouldn't go back or wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

My Favourite Restaurant In Brum.
Amazing Food, Spotless Decor And Totally Worth The Visit and Money ❤
I. H.
Amazing service and food. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Had my baby shower here and the atmosphere was lovely. Will definitely be visiting again soon. Thank you so much again for everything ❤️
M.
Food was nice and service was good. Lost a star for being a bit pricey, lost a second star for adding tips as standard. - not a good practice for repeat custom in my opinion.

Our first time here and we are kicking ourselves that we haven’t been before! A friend recommended this place to us and it didn’t disappoint. Staff were so attentive and made us feel very welcome. Food was delicious and presented beautifully! Starters and mains were on point- my fav was the butter chicken and was the best I’ve ever had!!!
Due to the endless roadworks going on in Birmingham getting here by car was a little tricky but I am already planning my next visit regardless!
E. S.
The service by all the staff was great, they truly cared about our experience. The food was absolutely delicious – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Absolutely the best meal we had while in. The atmosphere was lovely too - the location definitely sets the scene with the views of the canal!
R. B.
I visited here with family recently and we had such a brilliant night. Great atmosphere, beautiful sleek decor and the food was absolutely delicious. My favourite was the prawn puri starter and chicken tikka curry. The customer service was brilliant, very attentive and cheerful. Highly recommend 👌

We have eaten here for the 2nd time now and it was as good as the first time if not better. Don't be fooled by the front door as it does look like you are entering a pub, your not you are entering food heaven. When you get to the top of the stairs the welcome you get is 2nd to none. The surrounding are great and the staff are amazing but that's not the best bit. I can honestly say this is by far and away the best Indian food that I have ever tasted and the waiting on staff are brilliant, infact they treat you like long lost friends. Covid19 has an awful lot to answer for ,for keeping us away so long. Gents we will be back very, very soon to sample your hospitality again. Till next time, thank you so much xx

From when we entered and left the service in here was class. Honestly felt so welcome and attented to throughout my visit. Genuinely thought it would just be another typical indian restaurant but food was so good. They serve halal food which is what or dietry requirements were. The flavour of my chicken and the softness of the rice, this place has exactly what I expect a top noch Indian restaurant to be. Genuinely will be returning in a few weeks again and posting my review on my instagram but keep up the amazing work guys.

Convenient location directly above the Brasshouse pub on Broad St. Great venue, spacious and stylish design. Plenty of attentive staff who kept us hydrated with delicious beer whilst waiting for our table. Starters and mains all tasty and spices to order. The onion bhaji starter is some next level design! Overall excellent service and food. Recommended.
P. G.
Chicken balti was lovely. Could have done with a bit more spice, but that's my personal taste. The onion bhaji was amazing!

We booked a table for 2 Friday 13th April 18. Couldn't find the restaurant at first I thought it was in brindle place as I looked at Google maps and it looked to be there. Having arrived soon found it was in broad street. I never checked the address as we got the train over and we are familiar with Birmingham. I must admit if I knew it was in broad street we may have not booked in here being a busy hotspot for people drinking etc etc.
Anyway when we arrived it wasn't very busy as we came early we were going out for drinks after so we went for the lunch menu which is on till 7 for the price it was fine 3 course for 13.95 standard poppadoms to start then choice samosa e.g then your main meal which is the curry it's self.
All in all the food tasted nice was it the best curry I've had. No.
It was just ok to me don't think I'll be returning as there is a lot of competition around and may find a nicer place to eat.
If your looking for a cheap night out as a couple then this may be the place it's in a good location next to a load of pubs either in brindle place or broad street. If your willing to spend a bit more on a meal you might enjoy more I would rather do that.
We both enjoyed our dinner I wasn't keen on the pilau rice that came out the actual curry sauce and chicken I had tasted nice and the naan bread was nice also.
Overall felt the place and food was ok

Ate here on a Friday evening, I had booked a table for 6pm but we turned up early which was no problem as we were seated swiftly. We were offered drinks and popadoms although we declined as I prefer to have a proper starter and mains. The starter have a few items which are different, namely the duck. I ordered the haash shaslick which is served on a skewer. We got the complimentary dips and sauces which i must admit was good because the duck was slightly dry. Although overall the duck was quite pleasant.
For main I ordered the lamb pasanda which was amazing. I sometimes get a little worried when ordering lamb as sometimes it can be a bit tough but the lamb in this dish was brilliant and just right. The nutty sauce of the passanda was spot on. The nan bread was nice and fluffy (I requested no butter) but i did notice it didn't dry up. The rice was quite standard- very tasty.
Overall the meal itself was great. The service was brilliant really friendly. Only downside was the lack of Indian music but I don't think that it warrants a one star drop!
F. s.
We had a very lovely evening here. We arrived shortly after 7pm and was seated straight away. We had the option of being seated by the very pretty lit up mirrored back drop with a window view. The whole restaurant itself was very nice and spacious with a delightful ambience.
The staff were very attentive and courteous throughout our evening.
We got offered drinks and poppadoms with a variety of tasty sauces and chutneys.
For starters we had a mixed grill that was served sizzling on a bed of caramelised onions. It was cooked perfectly with it still being very tender and succulent, not dry at all with a very tasty aroma bringing out all the flavours.
For the mains we had a prawn a curry, Bombay potatoes and chicken curry dish that was cooked with tomatoes and peppers (sorry forgot the name of the dish but highly recommend). All dishes were very flavoursome, served hot and very promptly. We also ordered a vegetable pilau rice and a garlic naan bread. Both cooked to perfection. The naan bread was very light and fluffy, both full of flavour.
Overall we had an excellent evening. We Highly recommend visiting here, you won’t be disappointed. We most definitely will be returning!

Unfortunately I've not been able to get out and dine here so when I saw that they now deliver....
Just placed an order via Uber eats (thought I'd make use of my promotion voucher) delivery was at a decent time, and food arrived piping hot.
I just love this place! And so does my son. It's his favourite Indian restaurant.
Service is great, food quality is divine. Polite, professional staff.
I always leave special instructions for the chef and restaurant...they have never failed to deliver my request.
My only criticism is the rice portion could be bigger as the mains are a nice and healthy portion (but I could just be being greedy)
D. B.
Very tasty food and friendly service. If you're looking for a decent Indian restaurant in Birmingham then look no further.
F.
Amazing service amazing food. Best restaurant in Brum as far as i'm concerned. Must try!
A. C.
Lovely food and atmosphere. Service was very good
M. J.
Nice food and quick service. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
E. W.
This is the second time that we have gone to The Celebrity in two months. Unfortunately the issues that we encountered were the same as the first. The waiting staff were quick to take the orders but we were let down by the waiting time between dishes. We could not understand as we were the first customers through the door. The food when it came was absolutely first class though but the issues with waiting outweighed the experience.
J. O.
Just had a lovely meal at this restaurant! Food was delicious ... chicken tikka starter was especially tasty!! 👌 Staff were absolutely lovely. Made us feel very welcome and we're very attentive! Would definitely return!
A. R.
Very mediocre place. Nothing special... Same with the food as well... The naan we ordered seemed old or just heated up just before serving.. Also the price was bit on the high end
J. P.
Great place, accommodated a large group (20) very well with only a couple of days notice.
C. S.
Went Sunday evening with a friend for a meal, we had startes and main course. We were unsure of what wine to purchase so the waiter let us pre taste the wine they had. That was very nice of the waiter. Deco is very warming and plesent. The waiters checked up on us to make sure we were happy, overall had a lovely evening and we will return again to try some more of the dishes they have to offer
J. L.
Very accommodating n super efficient.great decor too
A. E.
Place is amazing located in the heart off Birmingham's night life. Food is amazing and always on point. The staff are very friendly and have good customer service skills. Even when it's very busy its nice and they try to do as much as they can to bring the food out without you having to wait a long period off time. Everything is cooked to order. Their nan breads are absolutely amazing. The place is located on Birmingham city centre. It is a beautiful layout and modern and uo to date will be going again
d. l.
Ordered chicken byriani enormous dish very tasty with good service
O. F.
Food and service were just about okay.. can be better
A. A.
WOW just WOW!!! Every time I've been there, the lads have always shown extraordinary customer service!! (We're a fussy couple too lol).
The food is always wonderful 😋.
Such a warm welcome, friendly advise on the menu and very knowledgeable on the ingredients.
From the moment you walk in to the time you leave they actually make you feel like a "celebrity"
Would definitely recommend this place.
Keep up the good work lads!!!
💯💯💯⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Had a fantastic meal here, service was great and attention to detail was impressive. Food was exactly what we we ordered and tasted really authentic and fresh! Defo recommend 😍
S. L.
Good service and food but quite expensive, £7 for a couple of onion bhajis was a bit much. Curry and naan were better value.
S. A.
We went for the happy hour £16 for 3 courses, before 7pm. To he honest I thought it was one of the best all round Indian's we've had for a few years. Because the food tasted really nice, it was excellent value for money. Would recommend the happy hour to anyone out in town looking for an early meal. The place itself had a real authentic feel to it, and felt quite special in a funny way. I think we were just chuffed to a get a table somewhere on an event night!
R. S.
Love this place. I always eat here if I'm staying in Birmingham on business, which is usually once a fortnight. Great food, good price, great service. It's also very spacious and the tables are kept nicely apart whereas a lot of restaurants cram as many as they can in. Yes, there is a 10% charge, but that's becoming common and in my opinion it's worth it. Also, I once went to Puskars ("P" for pretentious) on the other side of the road just to try it out, and paid nearly double for the same food and was crammed in. In terms of value for money, service and food quality, "Celebrity" wins every time for me.
L. S.
I really don't get the bad reviews. I've been put of going here for years because of the bad reviews but tonight me and my partner went here last night. Our usual is Dilshad in sellyoak but this restaurant is just as nice. The food was very very nice and the service...well they were very attentive to me and my partner which was lovely. Will DEFINITELY be going back. Sometimes you can't go by reviews you just have to try places yourself. I'd give it a try. Yes we saw the service charge and we let them have the change too, you were served at your table so i don't think a couple of pounds on top is a big deal. The onion fried rice and tandoori breast chicken that came on a sizzle plate was absolutely beautiful. Thanks guys
N. O. R.
In Birmingham for a week of training and when in the UK I always look for an authentic restaurant that serves good food and as Birmingham is so very famous for its Balti I went on a little walkabout and found a little gem! The restaurant is a wonderful find the first night I was lucky to be on time for the early bird menu which to be honest was too much but I still ate everything!! Great food and unreal prices lovely staff who made me feel welcome. I liked it so much I have returned again tonight and as its just as good second time around. As I work in the restaurant business its always nice to find a place that you can chill out and eat good quality food and have excellent no pressure service. I will be back again guys thank you for your hospitality.

Went for a curry here before a show that was on at Arena Birmingham. Good location, close to a few other bars and just a 5-10 minute walk down the canal to the arena. Friendly staff and we were even given Crackers to pull as it's close to Christmas! Can't fault the food but I would recommend booking, we'd booked for 5 which is when it opened and half way through our meal the place was full! Decor needs a bit of a spruce up but still a pleasant atmosphere
L. P.
Came on a Saturday around 7pm. Got a table straight away, staff were excellent and professional. Food was superb. Partner is vegetarian and the selection was very good. They served cobra too! Only visiting Birmingham but would definitely come back. Very very good.
R. J.
Quantity and quality was good. Being of Indian origin all I can say is, I've tasted better (more delicious) food in the UK. Avrage service. Gratitude is charged on the bill. I'm used to leaving tip separately @ min 10% or more if service has been exceptional. They pre-charged the 10% sure not with more. Thanks for the orange flavoured milk chocolate after paying the bill.
J. D.
Wish I'd discovered this place 10 years before I did! Great food with great service and at a great price. Had a meal at tamatanga a few days before and it was a complete disappointment in comparision, give this place a try instead of a chain restaurant!
N.
Food was good
But old bathroom
M. T.
Excellant service.. Food was delicious. Would deffo recommend. Food came out quick and staff were very polite. Best indian restuarant in birmingham. Had a lovely time with the family and even hired the place out for a wedding. Amazing venue for many occasions
T. M.
Just have the most fabulous Salmon Shahi meal here tonight. The salmon spicy and cooked to perfection.
Worked very well with the soft pilau rice and naan bread.
Has to be one of the best Indian meals I have had in my life time.
The food was served in good time.
Good atmosphere and professional waiter
staff.
If you're in Birmingham City Centre for business of leisure, I would highly recommend this wonderful restaurant
k. w.
Loved this place ! Staff were so friendly and welcoming
I’d ordered the wrong dinner and they swapped it immediately without any fuss and even said we could keep that plate at no extra charge.
Portions were large and tasted amazing. Really recommend
S. S.
Pefect, tasty and nice staff
M. A.
Quality food. Highly recommend this place. 🙌
t.
Excellent! Upmarket joint so come dressed for the occasion. Great surroundings great service and great food! Felt I was on holiday with these guys made to feel special. Try it once and you'll be back again. Thank you guys for a memorable experience.
A. W.
Food was exceptional.
Service was extremely good.
The duck with sesame. Oh my God was stunning. Onion bhaji to die for.
Mains equally as nice.
But... no kulfi. No gulab jamon. No desserts at all. Shocking.
Still 5 star.
But. The 10% gratuity already added.
I had a fiver tip to give waiter.
Bill was 40.00 .
But added 4.00 already.
I hate that part of it. If service and food is good. Customer will tip.
Would I return. In a heart beat. Food was superb.
S. R.
The food was delicious! Also the staff were very polite and welcoming. Would highly recommend.
G. B.
Genuinely very good food. Not as expensive as Ashas and because it's on broad Street doesn't feel quite like it either, but the food has a more "real" quality. Comes out steaming hot and tastes really good.
B. P.
best indian food ever had .
environment was so great realy enjoyed it.
staff was so professional made me feel like i was there costumer for ages so i felt so comfortable 😀.
my whole family is fan of there food and asking me to order delivroo every time from there .
so nice keep it up .
P. H.
went with my daughter on a quiet Sunday evening, was well looked after and the food was fantastic.
little more expensive than I normally used to but I guess that's the location.
will be returning.
P. W.
The restaurant was nice and staff were efficient and prompt. Meal prices were ok and food was good but not a wide selection especially if you are vegetarian.
G. B.
Nice restaurant, good quality food, and engaging staff
J. J.
Decor very nice, shame about everything else...will NEVER be going there again!! One of the worse indians ive ever eaten. Food was very bland and I could tell most of the meat and seafood was frozen (onion barjee...one of the most sickening things I have ever tried). Staff are very rude and impolite, not willing to help then they expect you to pay the service charge they put on. Value for money is poor, I would avoid this place like the plague and get yourself down to ladypool road for a much better curry, atmosphere and value for money.
B. C.
Fantastic curry, great flavours without blowing your head off (but that's an option!). Courteous and attentive staff. Very pleasant environment. Definitely recommended.
S. G.
Highly recommended this resteraunt, really nice meal, dishes made to order. Very friendly and welcoming staff who make you feel relaxed and at ease. Thank you, I'll be back!
P. A.
Food was delicious and was complemented by good attentive service. Would just suggest you don't need a fella dressed in traditional Indian outfit on the door to attract people in - a bit naff.
H. P.
Excellent! Highly recommend! Excellent food and service. Plus the banqueting room is the bet near the ICC - I took 30 customers and colleagues there and everyone loved it. Thanks guys! Howard
J. D.
Absolutely gorgeous food, we were slightly dubious with some of the reviews. Yummy, fresh food. Only 4 star because the decor slightly drab and the music a bit dodgy!
N. C.
Lovely ambience and one of a kind restaurant along the street. Loved their mains of Lamb and Chicken. Fluffy naans and fragrant delicious briyani. Highly recommended for pricing and portion sizes.
M. K.
Very very tasty food. Staff friendly and efficient. Overall a great experience
k.
The keema balti and chilli cheese naan was charming my tastebuds! The keema balti had an impecable imount of a flavour and the chilli cheese naan was perfectly cooked! I 100% reccomend this place to anyone!
D. F.
One of many of the excellent Indian restaurants in Birmingham city centre
Impressive furnishings and decor set a high expectations for a special meal and we were not disappointed
Friendly, efficient service, very tasty food and reasonable prices ensured an enjoyable evening
P. M.
My wife and I went here for a meal before an event at the arena not knowing the area and didnt even think to check the reviews,we're glad we didnt as we probably wouldn't have gone.Saying that we had a great Meal the Onion bhajee's are to die for,the service was great, very polite, very quick and the food tasted great.Yes the decor is slightly tired in places but overall good.I dare say it all depends on the time of day you go and what staff are on shift that evening. We would go there again .
P. S.
Had a taste of amazing food and service, would give 10/10,and definitely recommend, and recommended to all my friends
S. W.
Very tasty foods. Considering it is in the city centre the price wasn't too bad. Spinach fried rice was tasy. Staff are friendly and talkative
A. S.
Nice enough food, service ok if a tad unsmiling also not particularly happy being charged a gratuity as standard, much prefer being given the choice
G. M.
