Reviews of Rajdoot
A. V.
Marvellous ambience from the moment one enters. Very friendly staff, warm and welcoming. Everything about the interior decoration is beautiful and eye catching. Food is really delicious.. Vegetable biryani, Dal tadka and rasmalai are a must try. Excellent service. Must visit if at Birmingham.
E. D.
Very good food and lovely interior, service was excellent and although not particularly busy on a midweek night, the general ambience of the place adds to the experience. I had the Chilli chicken garlic, which was delicious bit not particularly hot, my friend had the lamb Rogan Josh which as we shared I would say was the better if the two dishes. Not really cheap if you include the service charge but better than your average curry house.

I ate here with friends as part of a weekend visit to Birmingham. It was a great meal. Friendly professional service, great tasting food and the restaurant itself is a great place to be. I'll definitely eat here again if I come back to Birmingham.

Went here for valentines with the Mrs, have to say this is the best Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to! Not only are the staff extremely friendly, but the food is to die for, really well made and not much of a wait either! Definitely recommend! If you’re coming from grand central, look up directions in advance.
S. M.
Beautiful restaurant. Beautiful decor. Beautiful food. Welcoming polite professional staff.
R. W.
Really liked this place, everything was great, flavour was amazing. I know you pay for what you get but I did think it was a bit pricey. I would go again but at that price I won't be a regular as there are others as good which don't cost as much.
H. S.
I love a decent Balti in one of Birmingham's many Balti restaurants..but..every so often you need to treat yourself to something a tad more luxurious..Rajdoot is exactly that! Really lovely food in an elegant setting. Been coming here for a few years and the consistency remains constant. Excellent!
C. D.
Great food, great atmosphere, good staff. Great for formal meals and celebration's. It's not very casual (which is a good thing) and there isn't much chat with the staff, but they are attentive and professional. Price was fair and we would recommend. Also we would return to this restaurant on our next trip to Birmingham
S. G.
Great food. Loved it. Vegetarian Chili Paneer is hot and yummy. Reminded me of India. A must visit in Birmingham. Enjoy a traditional Indian cuisine made by Indian Chefs.
B. S.
Exceptional food. Lovely dining experience. How have I missed it for all these years!!!
J. M.
Highest quality, authentic dishes and first class service. Relaxed dining at its best.
G. L.
Nice food, lovely setting and very good service.
V. 8.
Food was above average, most Uk foods are bland. So expecting the same as asian food is not possible. No spiciness. Hotel is ambient
B. T.
The food is just brilliant and authentic. I always enjoy going to Rajdoot and it has a nice vibe to it. It has stood the test of time from Birmingham a decade ago to what it is now, due to great food and service. The decor inside is nice.
I even often get food for collection from here and it's still high quality.
T. A.
An excellent restaurant with fantastic food and great service.
C. P.
The most fabulous Indian food you will ever taste!
The traditional decor is wonderful and the staff are really friendly & efficient.
One word of warning - once you've eaten here you won't want Indian food from anywhere else.
T. D.
Visited the Rajdoot on Saturday evening and it was fabulous. Food delicious, service friendly and good atmosphere. The best Indian restaurant in Birmingham I've been to on a long time.
M. S.
Staff helpful and friendly. Nice decors interiorly, Tasty food, served in a timely manner. Would recommend to anyone!
B. C.
The food here was wonderful. The flavours were beautiful and portion sizes were generous. The sharer starter was glorious had good choice and variation.
The reason for the 4 stars is that there wasn't any social distancing going on. The restaurant was full with all the tables being used but no social distancing measures in place. Some of the staff wore face shields, but the majority did not. I look forward to returning, but not until social distancing is in place or it is no longer necessary.

What a great find!! Everything from start to finish was amazing.
The food was sublime. We had a mixed grill and lamb chops for starters, both were really well cooked. The chicken tikka on the mixed drill was so tender and well spiced, everything on there was very very good but the chicken tikka was a standout.
The mains were equally good. A vindaloo that delivered on the expected heat while still being full of flavour. The lamb curry was also a delight, the lamb was so soft and tender. The naans were also beautifully executed, light and fluffy and both the keema naan and the chilli naan were excellent quality and delivered on flavour. Saag aloo was a great compliment to the curries.
The service was attentive without being fussy. A lovely cold pint of Cobra and good G&Ts helped us enjoy the great food. Excellent value too.
h. k.
The guys were very nice n polite and the Indian dishes were great. The lamb dishes were really cooked well. The okras was a bit hard though. A bit expensive but a good experience all over.

Amazing food, can’t wait to go back

One of the best Indian places I've tried in the UK. As an Indian living abroad for several years and have not visited home that often, everything was authentic and reminded me of home.

The place to go for proper Indian food excellent !!!

Amazing
Absolutely amazing. First class dining experience on all fronts.
N. B.
Fair to middling north Indian food; expensive for the quality of food served. Menu a little more extensive than Itihaas but not to the quality. Ambiance is good and friendly. The host was spot on point, unobtrusive yet on hand as required. There were none of the issues mentioned by others.
So not sure if I'd go again..
A. M.
The food was excellent as usual. I thought we could have been seated a bit sooner, as the restaurant was empty. But on the whole very good indeed. Its always a great place for a curry.
W. 2.
Excellent food, Nepalese chefs using fresh spices. Best paneer I have ever eaten. I wish they offered non-halal meat options. Gorgeous, decadent interiors. Understated ambience inviting people from all walks of life. Staff are friendly, helpful and prompt. Top standard hygiene. Decent parking after 6pm.
A. H.
What an amazing resturaunt. The welcome was very friendly and the service first class. The menu choices were varied and suited all spice tastes. The quality of the food was exceptional. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back.

This place is amazing. Period.
Ok, so we showed up at 5:55. They open at 6:00. When they opened the restaurant they had us wait at the bar area and took our food order. They made us wait to sit at our table and kept saying they were setting up our table but there was no one else in the restaurant and all the tables were set. We waited in the bar area for 40 minutes. I would suggest you don't show up till at least 6:30.
That being said, this was the most delicious Indian food I have ever eaten. Seriously. The minced lamb is unbelievably good. I can't recommend it enough. The garlic naan is fantastic.
The atmosphere is beautiful. The staff is nice but seemed a little disinterested in us. I don't want to dock them for that because honestly, it's the best meal I have eaten in the U.K.
S. G.
As soon as you walk into the restaurant the waiting area is so vibrant and vivid, the scenery is lovely. Everything we ordered was of top quality. We didn't have just have one waitor but a lot of nice staff always checking if we need more drinks or naans etc. Overall a lovely experience
A. S.
The waiters continuously ask the same questions, obviously no communication. The food was lovely but they do charge a 10% service on top of the food which i think is ridiculous because it should be personal choice whether you give tip. They take your order in the waiting area, when u sit down at the table the food came out in 5 minutes when we asked for it to come out after about 20 mins so we could have a drink and our papadoms.
T. C.
Excellent food with the service and decor to match. Wonderful place to eat and a great experience. Would highly recommend

My parents used to take me here when I was little in the 70s and 80s and it has always been my favourite Indian restaurant. Even though it has moved house it remains as much of a museum as a restaurant with the beautiful interior recreated in full as far as I can tell. The food, which is not cheap, is without exception delicious, though the menu is neither extensive nor particularly unusual. I don't think the food is overly spiced by any means, however my children always seem to make a fuss. I'll just have to leave them behind next time. Heaven in curry form. Perfection.
D. G.
A restaurant with a lot of charm. The food was excellent and the staff were very attentive without being intrusive. We ate fish, lamb and chicken dishes and all were very distinctive and delicious. The desserts were also very good. I would recommend this restaurant.
M. C.
Very good traditional food and very welcoming. I went with my family and the staff we were looked after very well. My children really enjoyed it.
N. K.
I would give a 3.5 stars. The food we ordered was alright. We had a paneer makhani daal tadka rice and yoghurt. The paneer was not so great it was a little too tangy. The ambience of the hotel is amazing and the staff is pretty friendly.
C. W.
Took some friends from London, they were very impressed both with the high quality of the food and ambience. The staff were very friendly, attentive and sociable. Very much recommended
R. V.
Been to Rajdoot a few times with colleagues and friends and each time the food was consistently great. The chicken shashlik is my favourite starter - always tender and juicy, not too spicy! The fish narial has got to be the best main for me as I'm a fan of fish and rich creamy sauces.
The service is nothing short of excellent, the waiters are very polite and always dressed smart, very helpful without being in your face.
It's also lovely to see familiar frequent customers in the dining area every now and again - shows that the restaurant has loyal clientele - and I can see why!
It may not be the cheapest out there, but you definitely get an extraordinary experience and thus I will be returning again!
S. F.
The Rajdoot is a weekly experience for my family, we absolutely love this place and have done for the past 25 years... I am shocked and disappointed to read some of the ridiculous reviews below.
The food is second to none, a unique Nepalese experience! Do not go there expecting your favourite Balti, bright orange Chicken Tikka Masala or ridiculously hot Tindaloo... the dishes are all beautifully spiced (I have tried most of them) and expertly cooked by the chef who has been there for 30 years I'm told.
It's not cheap and cheerful, it's reasonably priced in my opinion, the web site has all of the prices and some lovely photos of the award winning restaurant and a selection of the dishes. The staff are very welcoming, sometimes they have made mistakes, always corrected when politely prompted but usually they are spot on with everything.
It's always been a 10/10 for me!

Stumble on this restaurant by mistake very glad went in . Staff at the bar were so nice and friendly food was a little slow coming out but well worth the wait it was fantastic grate restaurant. If iam in Birmingham again I will definitely go in 5*

We visited Rajdoot on the 29th Dec. The service was brilliant and the food was amazing. The meat was so very tender and full of flavour. We'll definitely be going back.
D. P.
Fabulous food. The marinated monkfish was something else. It is not cheap but worth every penny. Looks lovely and the staff are delightful.
s. h.
Great restaurant with character and traditional excellent food and service is top. Fresh food and top quality not rushed like other restaurants take your time and enjoy the food and great wine selection.
P. C.
50 years in Birmingham and still going strong. Nice restaurant with classic menu prepared and presented well by friendly efficient staff.
N. B.
As an Indian in Birmingham, this is the very
Best Indian food in Birmingham! Fantastic service and without question the most delicious food. I have been a regular visitor for 30 years and despite the "competition", Rajdoot remains the best Indian Restaurant in Birmingham.
p. c.
This is a great place to have great Indian food. And the people we're great. I'll definitely have to give it 5 stars..
P. B.
😊The family and I had a lovely time. The food as always was delicious. Compliments to the chef's and staff who were tentative and delightful.
T. A.
Very nice food indeed. Food temperature needs to be hotter when served, but that didn't stop from eating.
R. G.
I am not a big fan of Indian food but I have to admit I liked this place. Good service and food quality. Recommended for groups.
S. N.
Excellent food and the service is impeccable. Highly recommend this restaurant.

I came to Birmingham in 1968 aged 10 and remember visiting the Rajdoot in my teens, twenties right up to now in my fifties and I've never once been disappointed. Every one I bring to the 'Doot always rave and usually put it at the top of their list of curry restaurants. The Shashlik Chicken is so moist I'm salivating writing about it, the Lamb chilli Bhuna is so rich in flavour I have to order one to take away after, the list is endless of real deep flavoursome dishes. It may not be the cheapest in town but its value for money as we always come away saying wow and spending the next 2 days discussing the food. Great staff, great atmosphere, great menu and great food what more can you ask for, the Rajdoot is Birmingham's no1 curry house.
G. G.
Quantity was very less. Food was okay. We ordered variety chicken and fish was good but lamb was half cooked
S. R.

D. P.
Great food good service but a bit on the pricy side we did have wine would recommend for a one off special
C. P.
Always amazing food & service. By far the best Indian food in the country!
S. L.
Love this place - it is somewhat more expensive than your typical Indian restaurant but the food is really really good. The lamb pasander is to die for.
g.
Just in Birmingham for a date night, this place is off the beaten track but we'll worth it. They are very friendly and the food was very good.
T. M.
Was taken here for lunch by a client. We chose from the executive menu which only has 4 items for starters and mains but with that smaller choice comes a higher quality of food.
A. P.
Nice food, good atmosphere. There's a lovely statue in the waiting area.
M. P.
Been coming here for years. Lovely interior. The chicken briyana is lovely. Dim light environment. Can be a bit pricy though.
