Reviews of Tipu Sultan Majestic Dining

Amazing atmosphere. Only had to wait 15 minutes on a Saturday night! The service at the table was brilliant. The food was good. Had the lamb chops which were amazing. The lab biryani was good but could have been better. The achari chicken curry was again strikingly good.

We made a 3 hour drive from London on a Sunday to visit a great food and it sure didn’t let us down. The food was honestly so nice and I would recommend anyone to visit! I ordered mix grill which is a must try with full of flavour choices. The naan breads are cut in perfect sharing size for you to dip into your curry dishes.
In addition to the great food, came along the customer service. The lady who served us was excellent from the get go with explaining the menu and being very attentive even tho the restaurant was so busy! She checked in and made sure the food was at its finest.
The dining experience was very accommodating especially if your coming here for a large group sit down. It’s a must try!

Great place to dine in, fantastic reception service and 10/10 for the interior inside. The staff were extremely helpful, especially Zohaib, who regularly was at our service. The starters are fantastic 👌, especially the lamb chops, all the starters had great flavours. We got lamb karahi, again excellent 👌. To top it of a beautiful brownie with vanilla ice cream and falooda. Definitely would recommend this place, was not disappointed.

Excellent food & service once again. The starters were freshly made as were the mains. Above all the service from our waiter, Ali Raza was excellent. He served everything in a timely manner & made sure all our requirements were catered for.
M. J.
Very nice food, our waiter was one of the best very kind and attentive. The food was really nice would recommend the mix grill..

It is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in the UK. The venue is beautiful, the food is incredible and service has always been brilliant for me.
I have paid a lot more and lot less for a curry in London. I would say this falls somewhere in the middle. But for the quality of food, it's worth every penny.

On our long drive back to London we decided to drown own sorrows at Tipu Sultans Birmingham after Manchester derby defeat. We were not disappointed with the food. The lamb chops were extremely tender and the variety of flavors from each dish was incredible and full of spices. Good food and decent service.

Simply Excellent !!!! : place, décoration, staff, food . I really liked starters ( lamb chop and fish pakora: hot and spicy),main plate ( gosht biryani: spicy and delicious ) and dessert (Gajar Ka Halwa: really good )
My colleagues enjoyed the different starters and plates as well
The service was excellent : various waiters and waitresses, quick / efficient / helpful
There is enough space between different tables so not noisy.
The restaurant has its own car park
I’ll come back for sure
H. K.
Incredible food. Only regret was not ordering more! The seats arent in the best condition but thats my only gripe with the place.
A. M.
Service was good despite the restaurant being packed. Front reception was friendly and we were welcomed with a smile. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The decor is still very nice despite the restaurant past its prime.
Now for the bad bits:
The food, we ordered 5 different starters and although they came quick, it was more of a mediocre takeaway standard. The mains were no better, upon close inspection of the curries the quality of the chicken and meat is just very poor.
Conclusion: the service is good, decor is decent, restaurant is very clean including the toilet facilities. But in comparison to few years ago, this place has sadly gone down hill with the food. The substandard food, portion size and price increase just doesn't justify a return visit.

Went twice upstairs for weddings, loved the decor and the food both times
A. S.
Nice place, Planty of Parking unless there is a Event going on. Food are good and not too pricy either..
And by the way anyone want mild food go to KFC or McDonalds, stop going to Indian Restaurant..
We love spicy food and this place was great.. We had an event here and it was great, just staff need to be little more friendly and helpful..
Thanks
B. G.
This place was actually quite good the sultani flavours give you a nice wift of spice and twang you don't get anywhere else. Really good food and great service.
s. d.
It was very busy, had to wait for nearly 45 minutes.
Service was really slow.
The quality of the food was not as good as expected.
It was decent enough but I had expected more.
Very high prices, not much in quantity.
A. S.
Amazing restaurant, really beautiful decor throughout the restaurant. Really nice service too
S. A.
Tipu’s food was amazing and the service was very professional, we asked to move table and they quickly obliged and placed me and my husband in a nice private corner. The servers were very attentive and kept an eye on us incase we needed anything and they were on top of everything from hygiene to serving customers so well done Tipu, keep up the good work and will definitely be popping down again soon ☺️
S. J.
Very busy place....because they are busy, customers are getting less attention and food presentation is not up to the mark. Staff is good and polite. Overall ambience is great.
M. K.
What's there not to like about this place? Nothing. It's all great! Ambience, customer service, and quality of food. Authentic flavours too. Very accommodating of families and large groups. Will visit again!

Food was nice. Great customer service from waiter Zak.

We went for our 15th wedding anniversary, just myself and hubby.
Deco was okay. They made us sit in an opened place next to lots of people. Upon requesting we were moved to a private booth. We ordered pineapple slushy sort of drink from mocktail section, poppadoms, lamb chops, sultani chops, peshawari ghosht and naans. In dessert we ordered strawberry cheese cake and falooda.
Poppadoms were first to show. Tasted yummy. No drinks in sight and chops came. We asked for meduim and they were so spicy that we got desperate for drinks but service was so poor. Pineapple drink came and as if it was literally frozen pineapple with no flavours 👎.
Chops tasted nice but way too spicy. Asked for a bottle of water which my waiter wrote on the bill infront of me but never bought me one. Peshawari ghosht was nice, naans were beautiful. Dessert was nice.
Here comes the bill.......
£2.50 for the water bottle we never recieved. So I had to put my foot down and asked to take that off which waiter giving me dirty looks did that for me. Costs me £54 for 2 people. Overall nice food but way to pricey and very poor service. I won't be going again unless someone else is paying for me 🤣
They need to bring more polite service if they want to charge like a 5 star place.
R. S.
Food is always nice. After reopening after lockdown 1 though, they refused to use a booking system to keep customers safe. We turns up and there was a queue outside going around the perimeter of 3 walls. They didn’t follow covid rules to protect customers.
Food price has gone up quite a bit too.
S. I.
Be prepared to wait. When we visited it was really busy (Saturday lol). But was seated in good time. The atmosphere is really family friendly. The waiting staff are extreamly attentive. The food is so amazingly tasty too. If you order starters be prepared to eat them with your mains as they bring the food out as and when it is ready. I would defo defo defo recommend a visit here
Z. M.
Lovely restaurant and dining experience. We came here for a wedding... lots of parking and easy to find.
A. K.
I went to tipu sultan yesterday for my dads birthday and the food was amazing, spicy though. The service we received from a waiter called Ali was just amazing he made sure that we hand everything we needed and that we got our orders out in time. Honestly is was great evening out
M. B.
Amazing Food!! Highly recommend 🎉
N. S.
Delicious food and great customer service. Went yesterday after a very long time and must say its even better than I remember. Highly recommend
S. M.
Never seen a quick service like Tipu Sultan. The quality is up to the standards and the staff is friendly and swift.
Z.
An extremely busy establishment and for good reason, Tipu Sultan is one of the most extraordinary places I have visited. Food wise, this is one of the best quality of Indian cuisine I have ever experienced. This level of fine dining was really worth the wait. The lamb chops were extremely tender and the incredible flavours from each and every dish was different but full of spices. It was delightful, great family atmosphere and the deco is very beautiful. Love it here. Would highly recommend. The waiting time is extortionately long, I would suggest always booking a table in advance instead of walking in.
A. A.
Was attended to by the most attentive receptionist Sophia who couldn’t do enough for us. The waiting staff were reasonably attentive and the food was average. A good atmosphere.
A. H.
Very impressed with overall service from the waiter
I think his name was hassan. The food was excellent
From the starters and main menu. Very freshly
Cooked. The waiter was an asset to tipu sultan
The way he gave us the hospitality.
Well done and keep it up always . Not just one off.
C. N.
Our waitress was on point (Saba) apologies if spelt incorrectly, she was a brilliant hostess and gave us constant attention, was wonderful and went above and beyond tThe rest of the wait staff , managers and chefs were wonderful. Special thanks to Ganesh who helped calm a very excited 7 year old!
All in all immaculate service, hygiene was fabulous and service was excellent.
a. G. s.
Great place, great food very good service.
N. A.
Awesome food amazing well mannered staff 😋
F. A.
Can't fault the food, delicious. At a wedding reception and although the place was packed with a long queue outside, the service was fast and efficient.
Y.
Goo venue. Got parking inside on a Friday, so all good. Although it was filled up when I left. Decor is good and staff are really welcoming. Place looks clean and presented well.
Food was ok tasting, and we asked for mild, but it didn't feel mild but was a little on the hot side. But thats down to own taste. Good size portions were given, too much really. I had samosa chaat, and that was enough for me, for 1 meal. Main we shared across table, had 3 dishes, all cooked nicely.
After food we stayed chatting and got given the bill, paid and continued sitting and chatting. At no point did they rush us out.
Only dropped 1 star for me was portions were big and prices were a little higher. I would reduce the portion and bring down the price. But thats a personal preference.
Definitely would recommend and would go again. But its bever about the food, its about the atmosphere and company. Go with loved ones and you will enjoy your time.
M. U.
nice food was too busy table service was slow
M.
Always a lovely dine-in experience.
Quality & delicious food.
This time we tried cappuccino with a rockslide chocolate brownie.
The brownie was decent with some walnuts, caramel sauce and a scoop of Vanilla ice cream.
Cappuccino wasn’t something you’d be impressed by.
K. K.
Good quality and tasty food 🍱
Quick service
Z. K.
Lovely place to eat with family and friends and good dining space and tables. The food tasted fresh and delicious. The top floor can be hired out for weddings, nikah ceremonys or general functions and beautiful decor and interor inside. Friendly staff and good parking available outside.
A. A.
Very disappointed. Came here last year and had the paneer and chicken speciality curry which was awesome. It’s off the menu which is a shame. I’ve always considered Tipu one of the best.
Nevertheless got a sharing platter and some lamb chops. Both very average, quite below average compared to just a standard kebab place.
So sad with the food. Service was great as always.
Maybe will stick with the currys next time
N. Z.
Food was amazing !! Well worth going to

Majestic dining at its finest. The food was exquisite. Very flavourful and delicious, the best Nihari I have ever had. I highly recommend the Nihari. The lamb shank was beautiful. The mixed starter was delicious, everything cooked perfectly with nice flavours. Staff are very friendly and attentive. It was a nice touch to see one of the chefs serve the food to us along with the waiter. We also had desserts which were also very tasty. The decor in this restaurant is very impressive. I particularly like the seating as it feels private and intimate at each dining table yet welcoming. My only criticism is the booths need better lighting as it does seem dim especially when you are eating. None the less, I highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be visiting again.
K. A.
Went for a family meal, parking was as it was a Saturday night but we did get a space quite quickly, the decoration was lovely and we were seated into a booth within 10 minutes, everything was clean and no loud annoying music to shout over while conversing around the table, we ordered the platter to begin with green chicken tikka didn't look too appetising but tasted nice the kebabs were nicely seasoned but the lamb chops were coated in too much masala and far too hot in comparison to the rest of the nicely spiced meats, biryani was a slight let down just didn't have the authentic taste more like a pilau but mocktails were gorgeous, the service from staff were brilliant so would definitely come back just for the service and explore through the menu more.
N. B.
2 years ago Good food this time no pic's.lol
After 3 years went again very busy no wait tho stairs just after entrance. Would like a bit more bright lighting feel it's 2 dim may be it's just me lol
Good food good service
M. M.
Service second to none. Really fast and polite. Everything was fresh and very flavoursome. Worth it and very nice decor
S. A.
After multiple recommendation i decided to give Tipu Sultan a try and it was honesrly worth it. The food is flavored and scrumptious. Staff were super friendly and the ambience in the restaurant is really nice. Overall enjoyed the food and experience and will be visiting again soon ❤
K. B.
Food was OK (pretty standard fare), service could have been better (waiters couldn't track who wanted what, but we were a large party). The décor was disappointing (didn't live up to the hype)

I came here a few years ago and I must say the food was amazing, after visiting again the standards are exactly as I remembered a few years back. This shows the commitment of this restaurant to keep up the standards, as we know standards can go up but to keep that standard to the highest levels is the most hardest bit and this place has achieved this and beyond. Great customer service and a fast and efficient service even in busy periods which shows the organisation levels. I will come here more often now I have seen what I have missed out in the past few years. I recommend to try this place out to see for yourself. Plenty of parking and a good place to bring family and friends around.
M.
Great food, best biryani on the planet in my opinion. Service was a bit slow and waiting time and reception was a pain. Seating was pretty solid.
F. E.
Great food and very effective customer service.the butter chicken was amazing , very addictive sauce.the gosht biryani was also very tasty, well worth a visit. Will defo come again to try a few other dishes.
A.
Not really a fan of this place, been twice and both times I wasn’t well after eating the food. A few people I know have said the same or similar things. When they are busy they just can’t operate properly.
n. n.
Been there twice before
Second time was hit and miss
This time it was really nice
Everything was just tasty
Some family members returned falooda as it was watered down
Service was great
M. A.
Drove from London to give this a try, the wide selection of curry was decent though I am sure there are others that are good locally and off course in London’s curry mile. The actual restaurant was huge inside and looked alright.
A. F.
Overall an average experience. Not bad, not entirely good.
Pros:
-The food is fresh and the desserts are really nice (Mixture of cakes and traditional Asian Desserts)
-Presentation of the food is really immaculate.
-Good selection of drinks, sides and accompaniments.
-The decor and interior of the restaurant is stunning and it feels really high end.
-Waiters serving us were well mannered and attentive.
-Waiting times are decent, similar to most restaurants in the area.
-No alcohol on the premises, which is good as it stops cross contamination with Halal cutlery/glasses and prevents attracting the wrong crowd.
Cons:
-Really bustling -Asian- conversation echoes throughout the whole restaurant , which means constant noise. Feels like you’re at an Asian wedding.
-A lot of the cutlery had white specs on it. Whether this is due to cleaning procedure or something else, needs to be looked at. We had to ask for replacements.
-Found the platter to be very spicy, flavour can also be achieved without adding that much spice.
-Small portion sizes for certain foods on the menu. I felt it we didn’t have the desserts, we would still be hungry.
-Although waiters were attentive, they need to be more alert when they’re actually needed, as they tend to ask if you need anything whilst you are eating as opposed to when you are actually waiting for them. Some waiters need to stop questioning why you need a particular item-needed an extra spoon and she completely couldn’t understand why- because we wanted to share the dessert : | Apart from that she was fine.
-Although we were lucky enough to sit in the enclosed spaces, there needs to be more privacy in the seating areas/arrangements.
-The waiting area was quite full on our departure and thus needs to be controlled , which is important as we are still in a pandemic.
-The manager just seemed genuinely uninterested, abrupt. He did not acknowledge the people on the table, seemed to be really interested in taking the payment. Really strange.
I understand wearing masks is difficult for staff working long periods, so will not advise you to enforce that but it might be worthwhile investing in face shields to ensure customer safety as the onus should be on servers to do this, as people have to take their masks off to eat.
Overall would recommend this restaurant for a one-time experience of Asian cuisine/aesthetics, as the food isn’t bad (but for the reputation isn’t amazing).
A. P.
This is one of the best food places I have been to in Birmingham. Loved the food, ambience, place, customer service. The best thing here was that despite tremendous amount of rush, our food was served quickly, in less than 15 mins... We loved the quality, and quantity of food. The value for money was much better than similar places in birmingham. I would 100% recommend the place to others and would also go there again...
J. B.
Came from London for the weekend and was recommended Tipu by many. Friendly and cool vibe. Starters were delicious and mains were decent, recommend the Paneer and butter chicken! Will visit again. Bill came to £70 Same meal would cost over £100 in London. Win Win!
K. S.
Great food. Great service as always.
Polite staff. Absolutely wonderful.
Thank you once again.
Parking was an issue as people parked too close to the white lines...
A. S.
Beautiful decor, you can see a lot of money has been invested turning the old public house into this amazing restaurant. The staff was absolutely brilliant and always at hand. The starters were really nice especially the chicken wings but unfortunately the mains were nothing to write home about
F. A.
The place is is definitely impressive due to its size and decor. Done up in a traditional way and suitable lightning, it does build a good ambience.
We went in a large group, both adults and kids, and after being greeted warmly we were seated at a massive round table that easily fitted us all. Passing the food to each other was a little challenge but it was a perfect table to fit us all.
Food menu has a lot of variety from grilled to curries and biryani. The food came very quickly and we were attending to very well.
We ordered mixed grill, different biryanis, some curries and nihari. All of them were good but I would give 4 out of 5 as they don't have that wow factor.
Ambience: 5/5
Location: 5/5
Parking: 5/5
Service: 5/5
Food Taste: 4/5
N. S.
Good starters. Basic mains.. went with the waiters recommendation on curries. Food can be served hotter.
Ambience was very good.
S.
Been to this restaurant twice. First time the starter was fantastic but the main was not. It was a lamb dish I ordered that time. However the second time the starters and mains were brilliant. The mains was perhaps a little spicy but whilst spicy the dish was full of flavour. Next time I might state I want it mildly spiced.
M. U.
Lovely atmosphere and service.
Variety of food to suit everyone.
C. A.
The food was alright, although I love the prawn, it was cooked very well
M.
As I am vegetarian, TIPU SULTAN is a nice restaurant to have a good dinner with family.
I liked mango lassi very much. Resnable price and a delicious food.
A. S.
The decor is amazing. Love the atmosphere. The food is pretty good. There are other places which serve better food. But overall its definately worth a visit. It's great for family visit. I think they do weddings here aswell.
S. M.
If you're looking for a special meal which makes you feel like south Asian royalty then look no further than Tipu Sultan.
A great restaurant with amazing atmosphere and interior fit out. Food is very rich and full of Flavour and a great treat once in awhile.
A. V.
Excellent place very well organised, friendly staff, delicious food , ideal for parties and weddings reception
K. T.
The Tipu restaurant and ambiance is a really good dining experience. The food is really good. And....it's also reasonably priced. I would say though, the fact that so many Pakistani people use it is testament to the authenticity.
W. Y.
Personally I think the dining at Tipu Sultan want not as good as it used to be (I can say that as I've been they're a few a times, new customers may love this place as they cannot really compare to what it was years ago) but for starters we ordered their sultani lamb chops and portion is not the same as before, theres literally more bones than meat on the chop and now it's less meat and more bones and doesnt taste the same as it did not good! But was nice, their fish tikka is nice but does seem like they've made some changes in their ingredients. There Nihari was also not that nice, it was too runny, as per my friend cooks this in her house her exact words were "it looks as though the nihari was ready made from a packet and doesnt taste fresh like it did when she dined there before" on the good side the butter chicken was lovely and creamy, their chicken biryani was amazing best tasting food we ordered tbh nans .. were nans tbh.. Overall not really happy with the dining experience compared to before, MAY give this restaurant another shot could've been a bad day for them yesterday.
Forgot to take a picture of the nihari! Damn sorry. Lol
N. P.
The food was good but has become very expensive. Everything costs. Only bottled water. Chutneys were limiting and after complaints, complimentary chutneys given. Why should you have to fight for basic things
H. T.
Absolutely amazing Asian food! Decor is beautiful and we were seated pretty quickly. Service was efficient and we were never left waiting for anything. If you come here you have to try the Sultani chops!! The best chops ever. You also need to try their ferrero rocker cheesecake. It was ridiculously delicious
m. k.
Fantastic food. Took my family here when visiting from Manchester. They thought it was a grand dining experience and loved the decor. Starters: lamb seekh kebab, papri chaat, fish pakora and lamb chops were all delicious. Seasoned very well. For mains we got lamb karhai and a chicken handi. The chicken handi got more points on the mains as the lamb was a little chewy. The desserts were yummy we tried apple crumble (10/10), chocolate brownie and Ras malai (milk was a little runny) but in all a fab meal. The waiters were so attentive and helpful didn't catch their names but thank u. We will be back soon insha'Allah
M. R.
Great restaurant and excellent as venue with big enough carpark to meet the customers requirement. Delicious cuisine.
M. R.
Visited today with my family. Amazing food, great customer service, great ambience and reasonable prices!
Definitely recommend!
A. J.
Not all it's cracked up to be in my opinion. Food fine but no wow factor. Reasonably priced but had wrong dish to table and 15 mins later right one arrived
S.
The food itself is always amazing and of high quality however there was no redbull in stock so I couldn't have the mango bull mojito, i tried the strawberry mojito instead which was really disappointing, there was a bunch of strawberry sauce sitting at the bottom & even when i mixed it up it just tasted like 7 up so essentially i paid £4.95 for a tall glass of 7up🤦♀️ also we waited around 35 minutes for the main course to arrive after eating the starters but when it did arrive it did not dissapoint. staff were also very friendly.
a. s.
I normally go to tipu sultan with my family and friends, I love the food and their way of treating customers but today I was crossing this place and I seen my country’s flag 🇦🇫, now definitely I will go their for my dinners. Lots of love and respect.
K. C.
The restaurant was excellent, food amazing and so was the service. It was extremely busy and difficult to hear the conversations which were flowing through the group as it was busy, however I enjoyed my visit and happily recommend
S. M.
Where shall i start! Well the decor is just wow! Everywhere you look has little details and is beautiful. The food? Best curry i have had in a while. You can tell it is a popular restaurant as we got in, was full within 10 mins. Keep up the good work and see you again soon on my next visit!. Give it a try guys its fab
M. P.
Came here sometime ago and enjoyed the food. Coming here after sometime I have to admit that the quality of food is still really nice. Full of flavour and not over spicy, though this can be done if you wanted it. Portion sizes wasn't too bad either, but think this is dependant on what you've ordered.
That said there are some downfalls compared to previous experiences here. The service wasn't the best. We requested some extras with our food, however this didn't turn up at all. The biggest problem I felt was the price. Although the quality of food is good I don't think it was worth the money we paid for it. Can easily get same amount of food for £20 less where it'll taste the same. Not sure if I'll be back here anytime soon
G. H.
Such a lovely restaurant! Excellent service from our waiter.
Food was lovely. The starters were delicious.
We made the mistake of ordering mango lassi which is REALLY heavy, hence we struggled to finish our mains!
Would probably not order the haleem ever again as it's not made correctly, it doesn't really taste like haleem. Karahi gosht was good. Service was super fast!!!
Ladies toilets are absolutely beautiful!!! Pictures do not do justice! The dinner booths are beautifully decorated, well the whole restaurant is, but they have created a really nice atmosphere for eating at any time of the day.
A.
Average, really. I would say it’s worth a visit I’ve been a few times and to be honest would go again. It’s local, convenient, has parking and it’s not bad. Good atmosphere, most of the staff are attentive. Reasonably priced
S. H.
Good place with good food. Decor is amazing. Food is really good but also quite expensive. Staff are friendly but can make mistakes so i recommend knowing your full order beforehand to avoid any confusion. Haryali Tikka Chicken is a must try.
U. C.
People are quick to complain so have taken the time to providE positive feedback. So pleased to receive Amazing service from Saybah. She took great care of our needs and nothing was too much trouble. It’s hard to find a place with Amazing food and service! Will definitely be coming back (hopefully we will have saybah attending to us again) thumbs up from me and my family.
I. R.
If you want a good place to eat asian food this is it. The starters are good as well as the mains. We really liked the starters, biryani amd chicken karahi but the lamb karahi wasnt the best to be honest. Drinks were good too and all in all pleasant experience. Service was good and fast. Food came quickly. Would recommend.
A. M.
Biryani was like pilao rice and taste wasn't great. Alum restaurant biryani so far the best in Birmingham.
Nan, palak chicken , and rest of the food we ordered was good. Especially flooda highly recommended.
Customer service is exceptionally good.
A bit expensive.
Reason for low rating is found salad wasn't washed properly because of which we have found solid mud in there which was our first time experience.
S. R.
This place was an amazing experience. Place looks really good. So much detail in the building, constantly gives you things to look at and admire, where ever you go in this large restaurant. Not only did the building blow me away, the food was absolutely smashing too. They take so much pride and care for their customers and someone always stands by to make sure they are right by your side when you need them. They have a big car park too. It's just a win-win situation coming here!
D.
Food is amazing and atmosphere is great.. we sat in a booth so while it was nice private and comfy, we struggled to the attention of the waiters several times. It was busy at the time so Its understandable.. Atleast the food was given on time..
A. M.
The food was excellent
The starter platter was delicious
The decor and surroundings is beautiful
Very expensive
Waiters are friendly
But services is very poor
Waiters didn't have time to speak with us
Our starter platter came but no sauces
We had to call the waiter and order the sauces and again call him and when we nearly finished our starter then the sauces arrived
We had to call the waiter about 5 or 6 times to get cutlery and serviettes and our drinks ( No cutlery on the table )
They were very busy and full house for Tuesday night
But because it is very expensive I think the services need to be excellent like theirs delicious food
3 person cost £85

Amazing ambience and authentic flavours..you must go once.

Came for iftar meal and was very impressed with efficiency of starters and main meals, especially seeing how packed they were. It was incredibly busy yet handled very well and waiters were polite too. Very unusual to find a place that ticks all boxes. They announced azaan on opening of fast and also had prayer facilities. Oh and the building is stunning!
J. J.
The food and service here is at a very high standard. The food is authentic and is worth what you pay for it.The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and gives a nice feeling to the restaurant.Menu is nice as there is a large selection of food. The service can be quick if the restaurant isn’t busy. There is a high standard of hygiene in the restaurant which you can see as the tables are often cleaned well.
Some negatives are that the parking is annoying as the restaurant parking is often full if there is a wedding happening. This means that people often park outside which means that there isn’t enough spaces to park. Also tables might be a bit close to each other so not a lot of privacy when your eating.
Before coming to the restaurant it is best to make a reservation as this can help reduce waiting times and ensures that you get a table.

Ali was just the best!! Really helpful and provided such excellent customer service. Made my meal such a delight. Thank you. Would defo recommend coming here.
s.
Decor was fantastic had a nice atmosphere for families, couples and friends. The service was spot on from the car park staff to the meet and greet and waiters. Food itself was alright. It was presented very well the starters were tasty but always find the main dishes are not really the best. Would have liked the mains to have had more flavour and spice to have given it 5 stars.
Dear reader could you please click the like button below for my honest and impartial review, for some strange reason this makes me very happy:)

Excellent food. Very good portions. Service can slack from time to time. Perfect for family and friends. Definitely recommend the red chops.
A. H.
Been wanting to try this place for a while so managed to pop in coming back to London from wales. Restuarent is amazing, service was brilliant, food was ok just slightly oily and full of spices but it was ok. Price was cheap considering the food we bought
A. G.
I just recently went to the Indian restaurant Tipu Sultan in Birmingham and I have to say it is spectacular!
It has the perfect atmosphere for a lovely family outing and, when you walk in, upon being greeted by friendly staff, you will see tables of families enjoying their meals.
The service is good and I didn't have to wait too long for my food. I had the lamb chops for my starter and hickey biriyani for my main. The biriyani was lovely with ample portions of chicken bits in. Only downside was the amount of coriander as I'm not a fan of such.
For my dessert I had the chocolate ice cream which had delicious dark chocolate bits inside
All in all I would definitely recommend it as it is a great restaurant for a lovely family outing.
Only downside is that the menu is doesn't have as big a variety as I hoped but there is still plenty to choose from!
H. S.
Excellent. A very busy but clean and large restaurant. The waitress was both efficient and attentive. The food was of a high quality and flavoursome. Recommended
Z. R.
Nice food good atmosphere and service very friendly staff. Been couple off times now today came for our wedding anniversary enjoyed it. Thank you to the staff.
K. I.
Great family meal out with kids. On site free parking, obiance was truly majestic, service with a smile. The Lamb Handi was phenomenally succulent complimented by the soft naan. Strawberry cheesecake and Karak chai finished the meal off nicely!
A. R. H.
Been there on a Wednesday night, it was busy. This tells you how good the place would be. Very tasty food, great set up, welcoming atmosphere and above all very helpful and kind staff. WE WILL BE BACK!
Q. A.
The restaurant ambiance and physical service was amazing. The food is also good, I really like starter that was haryali murgh tikka and it was wao but if I go for the handis and biryani is not too much good and it was too spicy.
M. B.
I really wanted to love this place. As soon as you walk in the gates you are mesmerised by the sheer beauty! Probably one of the most beautiful restaurants I've seen. But the food was a let down unfortunately. Everything was too spicy and nothing really made me feel like I want to go back for the food. The highlight was the exceptional customer service! Even though the food wasn't to my liking the experience was very pleasant!
K. P.
Nice food but not worth the way it's overpriced. I'll be in no rush to go back. 4 stars is generous in this case.
S. K.
Lovely food all our starters were cooked to perfection couldnt knock them for any of they food they main dishes were spot on too. everything was so perfect i must say it was very busy but the atmosohere n the layout os realy nice.
S. S.
Best naan I’ve had in UK. Curries are totally worth it. Would definitely recommend.
N. Y.
Amazing food! Fresh and flavourful. Normal places, their chicken is dry or has less masala, this place was perfect! Their chicken was perfectly cooked!
The butter chicken was fantastic as always.
I went for a wedding at the place, Definitely recommend
M. S.
Seekh kebab in the starters was tender; chicken and lamb baltis were nice. Naan was battered more than my spouse and was burnt on the back. It was like her bruises. Don’t lie, yeah! You reheated it. The biryani was tasteless. As for service, the mains came before starters. The Cambridge dictionary defines starters as: “something that is first in a list of things.” Your waiters may do well to remember this. To be fair he did change it round after a 5min explanation in English, French and Bulgarian. We had to have starters and mains in the same plate. So I just unloaded the salan over the bones from the starter in the same plate. Mango lassi wasn’t cold. It was oven baked. Anyway that’s all for today. Cheerio.
T. W.
Good food, but service is average. Staff arguing amongst themselves loudly, some just walking around like headless chickens.
M. F.
Five star place to have decent meal for reasonable price. Try to be served by their staff / Waiter Haroon. Haroon is extremely professional and will extend high quality customer services. You'll definitely love his customer services. Five Stars for Haroon as well. Thanks
L. A.
I only enjoyed the sultani chops, papri chaat was decent, chicken was too dry for me, masala chips is the worst ever I’ve seen just sprinkled with some chilli powder and other spices similar to peri peri fries, deserts was nice I got oreo cheesecake, won’t visit again.
A. R.
A bit pricey, however really enjoyed the food. Authentic North Indian food that hasn’t been tampered to suit the British taste buds…
N. K.
Perfect place to, the waitress who served us Sabah, she was amazing we went as lads and had the best food and service ever.
S. K.
Lovely restaurant adhering to current covid guidelines.
One of the main dishes was on the salty side. Had to wait a long time for our desserts to arrive.
Overall nice surroundings lovely food.
C. C.
Lovely inside great food really enjoyed great staff i was in a party of 25 and had king prawn lovely spice and flavour deffo will go back .
S. N.
Service and staff were great. Food to a good standard. Atmosphere relaxing however a little too dark.
A. R.
There are cheaper places but this place has always been mega popular. Previously (twice) I've not been impressed with the food but today it was good. Service is probably a bit too speedy if you want to sit around and have a chat. Don't even try and get near the car park, just park down the road as there is plenty of space and the area looks safe.
A. S.
Excellent food, prompt service, lovely ambience. Was craving for some Indian food and the food tasted just like I wanted! We ordered for chicken hariyali tikka, lamb chops, chicken and kheema, nalli nihari and roomali roti. All of them were tasty and soul filling. :) This is the only place around Birmingham that serves roomali roti!!! I am impressed by their service and food quality. They give you hot towel to wipe your hands before and after eating. Will surely come back when in Birmingham!
S. A.
Great ambience and efficient customer service. Lovely food. Sultani gosht was particularly tasty.
J. A.
Being going here for a few years now and food and service was always exceptional and delicious. Went fora birthday dinner and felt really let down with not only the service but the quality of food. Everything was served cold and the lamb curry was hard, the manager did agree to replace though which is why I have given 2 stars. Staff were not rude at all but just let us down a bit. Not sure if I will visit again after 2 years…
V. S.
One of our friends recommended Tipu Sultan in the summer of 2015. I was amazed at the magnificence of the place and the private seating.
Food is amazing, name it either Briyanai, Panner, Hariyali Chicken, Lamb Chops, Romali Roti, name any items and the taste is majestic. Lamb with Okra (Bindhi Ghost) is good too.
And their service time is quick too. The portion of the meat in their dishes shows the generosity of the group. I have never had any takeaway or restaurant offer a lot. The price is decent.
We go almost bi-weekly here. The downside is the lack of parking spaces during the peak hours.
Couldn’t recommend enough * * * *
S. P.
The ambience of this restaurant is super beautiful! The food is quite tasty I loved the veg biryani, if you are a vegetarian visiting there are quite a few options! Service is slow however as it is super busy, we were also taken to be seated 3 times and sent back thrice as there wasn't actually a table which was a little annoying.
B. B.
The wait was long to get in the restaurant and the service was slow. However the food was tasty and the waiter was really friendly.
k.
Nice meal. Good company. No issues with the food or service. Would go again
M. Z.
Excellent ambience and delicious food
Best Pakistani food till now in UK
UMAR FAROOQ the guy dealing us was superb in hospitality and suggested many delicious dishes
Z.
Really enjoyed the food, service was decent, friendly staff, would definitely recommend.
I. H.
Salaam, wouldn't say food was great, but was ok. Enjoyed the ice cream, and chicken biryani. Keema naan wasn't nice. Lamb karahi was ok. Scenery is what you pay for. I've been to Leicester Tipu Sultan, much better.
I. A.
Fabulous food and Fabulous service. Setting is perfect for families, very private. Food is incredibly tasty, had to order seconds for my son! And the service is very attentive. Big shout out to the waiter Arris who made my son's birthday special by bringing him a cake with a candle. Definitely 5 stars and recommended.
A. K. B.
Very busy atmosphere
Attention to care suffers because waiters are rushed off their feet
Great food but starters like sheesh kebabs are tasteless
Main dishes seem where it gets better
S.
One of my favourite restaurants. Food is always on point and attentive waiters.
S. K.
Came to Tipu Sultan on Saturday afternoon and had a truly lovely meal. In total we were 7 adults and 2 kids and, to our surprise, were seated immediately. Food is always great here but service was also really good especially this time around. Sabah was attentive, friendly and warm with everyone in our group. Having come here a few times now, I’d definitely recommend the Murgh Haryali Tikka for starters. For mains, if you can handle spice- Nihari or Sultani Meat Karai, otherwise the Butter Chicken is a classic along with some butter naan. :)
T. I.
Great service.
Lamb chops were great, though some were burnt.
Garlic bread is 👌
Overall, very posh place with good service.
M.
The food here is incredibly tasty, service was quick and the waiting staff were very helpful! The people serving us (Adam and Sabah) were particularly friendly and accommodating. Wonderful place, will definitely be returning. Worth visiting!
A. A.
Mixed grill starter is always very tasty and well done!
T. K.
Recently dined here with a large group. From the outside the place looks grand and luxurious, this is also matched by the interior.
I ordered the chicken biryani which was delicious and piping hot. It also comes with a choice of a sauce which complimented the biryani perfectly.
However the service wasnt as great as I was expecting it to be. Our first waiter took our orders and then disappeared. We didnt receive our food for a very long time and then when we enquired about it they said there had been a mix-up in the communication with the waiter and that waiter has now left. After this they did get our food our quite quickly but we had already been waiting a really long time.
Also whilst some of us had finished eating, a few others were still eating (it was a very large group), and the waitress had already started tidying up our table and taking everything but had also employed us in helping her tidy up. In a normal restaurant i understand you may help the waiter clear up the few plates that you have but this was a process that took perhaps 10minutes which wasnt a nice way to end our meal.
A. B.
Nice food...Good time spent with office Colleagues.
N. G.
A lovely pleasant meal. Couldn't fault the food everything was on point.
The toilets need some TLC and need to smell better. Please sort the ladies toilets out. Also the seats were ripped with the foam coming out. May be these need to be replaced.
A. K.
the food was very nice and the staff was very helpful would recommend to others and go back
N. C.
The Sultani Mutton chops are a MUST as starters. It's so tasty. I had the Mysore Tiger Prawn Bhuna (King Prawn) and Hyderbandi Handi. Both were excellent dishes. Great decor, huge restaurant and decent parking. Avoid going on weekends as it's the busy periods so the service may be degraded and can be quite noisy. Weekdays are the best. The food arrived promptly. Prayer area is upstairs above the wedding venue area. There are quiet areas (booths) to eat in for added privacy away from main restaurant area.
M. I.
A very good Indian restaurant - extremely popular and busy. The interior looks incredible and you can tell a lot of money has been spent. Parking is an issue as they do not have enough parking spaces so you often have to park on the roads nearby.
The mains overall are fine but the Sultani Chops are unbelievable! Definitely some of the best chops you can find in Birmingham.
In terms of pricing, this is an expensive place but it is worth attending on occasions where you don't mind spending £30+ per head (without alcoholic drinks)
K. X.
Amazing decor, lovely food, never fail to disappoint.. However -1 star as staff are a little forgetful and need to be able to handle several customers at once.. Also, strange car park attendant, randomly tells people to park properly or move to another bay, I've refused on two occasions as you should tell the driver beside to straighten up..
L. G.
I went in with my family. We were well taken cared of by Sabah. She was amazing waitress. The food tasted amazing and didn’t take long. Very good management as everything was organised .There were lot of attentive waiters who were easy to get hold of when we wanted to ask for something. Affordable prices .The atmosphere and decor was beautiful. Highly recommend for anyone. The potion sizes were perfect (initially thought they were small but were full filling). Definitely will visit again in the future
J. B.
One star is too much service was awful the waiter couldn't speak English which meant he couldn't read his own handwriting. Which meant he got our orders wrong, then he had the cheek to say it was my fault not his the manager came over they forced us to have food we didn't want and pay for it too. I ordered a spicy chicken which was very rubbery - they obviously overheated the curry so basically they gave us old curry - second hand please avoid it was a waste of money. Then the waiter revealed why did we tell the manager he got the order wrong apparently the manager will make him pay for it. So other words he was telling me that's why lied and blamed me for the order. Disgusting
n. b.
Had the sultani chops, absolutely wonderful for starters. Had the chicken jalfrezi with the kashmiri naan. Chicken jalfrezi was perfect, but the kashmiri naan was just too cheesy and greasy, if it had an even consistency of cheese throughout and giving hints of it, it would've been perfect. Overall, very nice food at a warm welcoming place.
I. (.
Came here a while back, what a place, probably the best place to eat in Birmingham, lucky to get in before it was busy, the starters and curries were amazing, can’t recommend enough, 10/10
F. K.
It was v nice experience here . We had great time . Special thanks to MR Ali and his colleagues for bringing cake and make our day special .
Y. A.
Excellent staff, efficient and polite, despite abrasive customers in our party.
Food was alright, hot and fresh, if a little bland.
5 stars for the young waiter and waitress who served us.
S. P.
Great service. Quality food and beautiful decor.
H. A.
Gone down hill. I went years ago and it was amazing. After recently visiting I realised the great experience in my mind from years ago was no longer the case. Food is overly spicy, very little flavour. Their Papri Chaat was the best dish.
ر. r.
very delicious but i had my birthday there and no one of the waitress come and sing for me that was so disappointing 😞 well the place is fabulous
H. G.
Tipu sultan serves Indian, predominantly north Indian dishes. The service is reasonably quick, food is very delicious. Starter platter to share is of good size . Main courses were of good portion too, we actually struggled to finish our food. Only thing i didn't like was amount of oil/butter used in dishes hence 4stars It has it's own car parking offering number of free parking bays for customers which is very convenient.
M.
Really nice restaurant. The food is really good and the design is beautiful. Loved it!
M. R.
Visited Tipu Sultan today. Amazing restaurant and dinning experience. Staff was very friendly and the service provided by Ali brother was excellent.
S.
We came here on a Thursday so there wasn't a wait which is always great. The food was great. We came as a large group so ordered plenty of their Sultani Lamb chops which never fail to please. Curries are nice too. Apple daquiri was delicious too. Overall great service and food.
P. B.
Very nice place, we've been coming here for years, find dining Indian cuisine full of flavor and spice. We always come for the lamb biryani and toofani paneer as it's what we've come to love most, rest of the food is also very nice, I would recommend ordering the food as normal heat as it is quite spicy if you do order hot it really is hot and you might not enjoy your food as much unless you really love the heat. The service is a bit slow, but worth the wait. Not licenced and you can't take your own booze but the food makes up for it. Very busy place and if you go on weekends be prepared to wait to be seated as there is no reservations. Will be back again Friday for our regular lamb biryani take away.
I. S.
Amazing food and service. Can't go wrong with Tipu's dining.
H. J.
We came here for my son's 21st, we were seated quickly so there was not much of a wait. Once we got to our table it was sticky and there was a lot of food on the floor ( which was very off putting) so had to ask the waiter to clean the table again for us. He came back with just a tissue so had to ask again if he could spray it with something then clean it, I understand it was a busy night but when you go out to eat you want it to be clean especially at a place like this! Cleanliness should be top priority. We waited over an hour for our food then they forgot to bring out one dish so again had to wait. The waiter we had was new, his first night, and very apologetic so again I get it. Other than that the food was delicious 😁 and we've been here before with a totally different experience I just think this time it was too busy and the waiters were new and maybe just rushed.
M. A.
Thank for best customer service from umar farooq and Hashim delicious food will be back
M.
On site parking was full. On entering I noticed signs for a wedding hall upstairs. So no doubt wedding guests took all the parking space. This was on a Friday night at about 10pm.
You have to give your name at the reception, and then take a seat. Once space is available they will call your name out and take you to your table.
Nice decor and good food. Prices are average for a good curry. I'm from London so I am used to the pricing structure.
Food arrived swiftly and nice and hot. The selection of curries ordered were very tasty indeed!
Overall a good place to go with friends or family. I would visit again.
M.
Love Tipu Sultan 😍 they have the best naans that are light and fluffy.
Super delicious mains and randomly have cookie dough as dessert which I love to calm down the spices! A must visit!
A. M.
Service gone a bit downhill. People taking plates whilst we are still learning. Basics in the restaurant business. Don't start clearing table until customers have finished eating.
H. S.
Had a wonderful meal, ambience and seating is excellent, service is very good. 'Sabah' is an amazing waitress, she works like a machine and is fast on her feet.
M. W.
A nice relaxing evening out with the family. Food was great. Service was great. Had no issues
I. B.
Very nice decoration and venue. Good balti dishes. Decent service.

Amazing food, tasty and fresh. Lovely service, friendly atmosphere. I personally recommend it 10/10.
M. S.
the food, service was really good and the atmosphere was calm.

Have been going to Tipu Sultans for a while, food is usually good, I’d recommend trying the Hyderabadi dishes which when made right are amazing. Atmosphere is usually nice and tables are clean. Staff are generally very good. The woman on the front who serves you as you enter, medium sized Asian lady who is middle aged is quite rude and doesn’t have any manners. Telling you to wait here and there as if she’s doing me a favour being there, sort it out!
They have started charging for sauces (which aren’t even fully filled) and even for water which shocked me. Nonetheless, the food is good and the decor is lovely.
I will return but the charges for stuff like sauces and water is ridiculous and as a result I will go back a lot less.
Overall, I’d recommend trying them out!
A. K.
Lovely restaurant, it was worth my journey from London to Birmingham. Food was delicious, nice setting. Good service.
J. P.
I found the curry was to spicy. I think you should ask your customer their tolerance to spicy food before you serve them.
Finally I didn't see any provision to show our gratitude when paying our bill.
This is not fair on your staff
Y. R.
Been going here many years and love their food every time I go.
S. H.
Wonderful wedding venue.
Floor space perfect for a personal wedding.
Food was absolutely scrumptious 😋

Very nice and clean restaurant, elegant looking. Portions were not as big. But overall good posh dine in.

Biryani was like pilao rice and taste wasn't great. Alum restaurant biryani so far the best in Birmingham.
Nan, palak chicken , and rest of the food we ordered was good. Especially flooda …

Delicious food, best Indian restaurant I’ve been to so far, beautiful decor, great customer service and delicious food

Nice and freshly made food 😋 i travelling manchester to Birmingham been today.

Luxurious Indian dining place. Friendly staff with delicious food serving. Not a very big menu to choose from. Expected more sea food in menu but well satisfied with whatever they already have to offer. An open kitchen with see through glass made the place adventurous. Good for family and friends visit. Highly recommend.
M. A.
Would like thanks abby and the team for the efficient service. Allhamdullilah our Muslim Marriage Event at Tipu Sultan went through smoothly

Fantastic food really helpful staff and loved the layout highly recommend!!!
Would definitely come back when in the area !!

Despite the 2 hour drive to London, the food at Tipu is amazing. I have visited this place numerous times. Today the service by 'Abid' was amazing. He was always floating around to assist everyone on the table. Thank you for the service and see you again soon!
M. R.
Great atmosphere, good prices, good food, parking available, no booking required. Service is great.
Been here a numerous times all the way from London :)
Z. M.
Receptionist was very helpful, asked to turn music off but I didn't expect them to do it as it was busy but she make it happen, place is amazing and staff are friendly.
Ordered butter chicken, kebabs, biryani few other starters, food was delicious 😋
Defo go again.
I. I.
The ambience and decor was majestic but sadly the food wasn't, it was just above average not much flavour in the lamb karahi, the food in Shere Khan star city was better
H. P.
Restaurants is quite big and very Noisy..
Food was okay. Portions was very small and some of items was not available. Drinks was not cold enough and when you tell to waiters they don't listen because they are crazily busy.
Feel like they haven't put enough afford for plating and serving food.
T. H.
Love the food here! Driven up from Watford to Tipu Sultans just for the food! Quality food and decent service everytime!
M. M.
Had very good experience good service from one of the bengali staff last week Monday 👍 made our day thanks for that
I. S.
This has to be in the top 3 best family restaurants in Birmingham. Amazing food, nice big parking, and waiting list - all the signs of a great restaurant. Loved their Toofani Paneer ( coming from a hardcore non vegetarian ).
i. a.
Decided to visit yesterday on the Eat out to help out. My advice is to get there early we arrived around 17.45 as a family of 5. The car park was already full so find an on the road parking spot otherwise you'll get stuck in the traffic outside the restaurant.
We were told it there would be a 1 hour 15 minutes wait (make sure you book in at the reception before joining the winding que where a pager is issued to you). We were seated just before 8!
The security staff did try and manage the que as well as possible so hats off to them for the hard work.
It was extremely busy once seated but the order was taken quickly you do need to try a bit harder to get the attention of the waiting staff.
We order a mixed platter and 3 curries more than enough for the two adults and three young children. I also did ask during the meal for some condiments but these never materialised, most places I've eaten serve them complimentary with the food, I didn't notice them as a separate item on the menu but then again I didn't look as I had anticipated they would come with the grill and the curries.
The dishes were OK certainly not the best I've ever had and I don't think as god as I've eaten at TIPUs on previous occasions. Again possibly a reflection on how busy it was. We asked the waiter about ordering desert too but were told it was not available!!
Certainly wont be visiting again on the "Eat Out to Help Out" may revisit when its not as busy. Definitely not worth the 2plus hours wait. May be an idea of providing a more realistic waiting time to those joining the que!
S. M.
We attended a wedding. So used the part that was reserved for the wedding
The other half of the restaurant was used normally as a restaurant. Lovely and clean place. It was a nice experience.
S. R.
5* .. always love dining here!! Cannot fault the food or the service!
A.
Every time I visit this restaurant, I get reminded how mediocre all the others are and how good this is.
They have all bases covered, absolutely delicious food, spot on presentation, ample on-site parking, opulent decor, friendly waiters, and last but not least the manager Zafar, who makes you feel like a sultan (king) every time I've visited.
M. O. (.
Excellent food, but over the years I feel the service has slowed down, you could be waiting for your food for ages.
R. P.
Amazing food, service was a bit slow.
N. F.
I went all the way from Southend to Birmingham as I had loved dining at Tipu Sultans' earlier. I ordered over the phone and with some confusion over the menu online I finally reached the restaurant. The staff was understanding enough to offer a discount and not spoil my evening. The food as always was delicious.
S. R.
Absolutely fantastic my son is coeliac and the waiter was very very helpful
G. P.
Amazing food and service was first class as usual
A. K.
Lovely place to have a meal at. The staff are great help. Food was amazing would recommend to bring friends and family
C. S.
Cant compain food was good but service was a bit slow and not very atentive
J. M.
Quiet at the time, so nice and socially distanced. Did great - as usual. Big portions, enough for a snack the next day. Vast selection on the menu. I like the fact that they cook the food super fresh. They next day, it tastes even better, if your lucky enough to have anything to take home. Or you can just be greedy and eat the lot ;-)
S.
This is one of our favourite restaurants and we are regular customers. We went to eat in today after restrictions being lifted due to covid. But we were shocked at how the prices were doubled for everything and the portion sizes were smaller. we ended up paying about £50 for lunch which would've normally been £25. I'm sorry to say that i won't be going as often as i would like anymore. Very disappointed. Ps Food was delicious as alway and service was great!
f. A.
Lovely place, nice food, good customer service
B. T.
Foods great, prices are very reasonable. Location and parking are good and the building and decor is amazing. Lovely atmosphere, if a little dark for good pictures and selfies! Love it though and very busy so that's a great sign.
d.
Can be busy at times so a long wait. Worth it in the end as the food is always perfect. The curry’s are made to perfection & the deco inside is fantastic. A little on the dark side in terms of lighting but overall a great experience.
“Majestic dining at its finest”

Lovely place ...had a great time ....but after a while ...everything tastes the same
T. H. K.
Lovely atmosphere, staff are friendly but do forget what you ordered.
Food was okay could be better.
Overall 6 out of 10 !!!

Lovely place. Food is very traditional home cooking at its best. Desi style. Lovely. Cookie dough very very thin.
N. S.
Service was good. Prices are bitt stiff with respect to food quantity
M. R.
Was very busy but we got seated straight away! Staff was fast and efficient! Very hospitable.
Food was amazing! Absolutely delicious! Mango lassi was yummy!
The decor is beautiful and very instagramable!
M. A.
Always a pleasure, I have dined at this restaurant a few times and its never disappointed, hospitality is great and I shall see you again soon... Well done

Great interior design. Excellent service. Reasonably priced. Comparable to the likes of Mumtaz in Bradford. Ate too much, enjoying a lot ... will probably come back.

Used to be our firm fav Indian/Pakistani restaurant in Birmingham. We particularly enjoyed the Daal Makhni but last few times it’s been awful. It’s clear they changed the recipe or chef as food no longer tastes the same. Daal, naans etc taste as though they are drenched in ghee/butter. Not remotely edible and extremely disappointing.
Hope they go back to original recipe/chef as that’s what made their food stand out

Impeccable service provided by the waiters, in particular Amaar. I just knew I had to leave a review because the service provided by himself was exemplary.

The size of the place on first view is impressive. We ate here as a family for a special birthday. The decor is lovely inside but when the place is more memorable than the food... well. The food is okay here. A good selection we had a selection of starters including the starter platter and though food was good there was no gastronomical awakening. Nothing that awoke the senses and made you ask why have I never had this before. I suppose the grandiose of the place gave you the expectation that it would. Where they fall down is the service staff they are ever so polite and helpful but a little slap dash and occasionally forgetful. And leaning over patrons whilst clearing away is definitely a big no no.. though this could simply be because they are so over run. Demand for the place is incredibly high on the weekend get there early or expect a long wait. Oh if you're expecting alcohol with your dinner then this isn't the place for you. It's a no alcohol restaurant.

I highly recommend to everyone ..
Quality of food is just superb , The give 110 out of 100 for the service of Tipu Sultan

Having experinced working in Indian Restaurants for over 7 years and trying out most local restaurants . This by far has the most TASTY & FLAVOUSOM curries, COOKED TO PERFECTION 👌. Highly recommended.
M. H.
Very nice and clean restaurant, elegant looking. Portions were not as big. But overall good posh dine in.

Was alittle disappointed overall with the experience. The music was alittle on the loud side and should've only being classical instrumental music of the Tipu Sultan period. In relation to the food, the starters were warm at best & not piping hot like it should be on a hot starter plate. The curries were nice and were of good size proportions. The nans and rotis were very thin & could've been alittle more fuller. The waiters just didn't give enough empahiss on customer service but rather you had to stop them to get anything done. One of the starters and one of the main course was late. Overall, alittle disappointed in overall service, not one I would recommend to my family and friends.
M. W.
Extremely busy place to eat. The food is awesome, especially the starters. Customer service skills are adequate. I would say polite. Quite a diverse atmosphere. Good place to socialise with friends, partners and family.
WC, facilities and parking available. There is a security guard at the front door. So please hide your drugs and weapons.
Not sure if they have pray facilities on-Site, you will have to check.
Overall , regardless of how busy the restaurant is, you will get your food near enough on time.
They have a wide range of Asians cuisines, meat.veg, desserts and various types of cold and hot drinks.
The decor is impressive, no strict dress code. So you can wear shorts or tracksuits.
Well worth making a visit and trying out the food.

Beautiful decor. Tasty food and great customer service.

Delicious food. Excellent service brilliant atmosphere.

Was ok, very busy and table service was decent. The starters were all too spicy for the kids but mains were quite nice
K. A.
The waiting time was expected as it was a Monday and ?50% off, but we only waited around 1/2 hour . A big thank you to Sabah for looking after us from as soon as we sat down , she works so hard and deserves this praise. she was great and professional in her service. The food was fantastic ! Exceptional food from a great place! Thank you
K. M.
Nice decor. Tasty food although portions felt bit small. Plenty of sitting area. Nice staff.
A. ..
The food was brilliant and the service was pretty nice, I'd just the portions are a little small sharing wise - overall would recommend
A. U.
Good food and good service celebrating my birthday here! Highly recommended.

One of my fave places to visit for authentic Pakistani food. The Nihari, Peshawar Ghosht and lamb desi chilli handi are my faves and I'd recommend this place to anyone. Its pretty to look at too, the service is amazing and a place where both celebrations and casual evening dinners are appropriate... They've not limited the Nihari to Sunday breakfast along with other times only, which is heartbreaking but I guess, historically it is a breakfast item - so its traditionally correct but I miss my evening delights of Nihari when you're not up to making it at home. And this was the closet to authentic homemade version.

Wonderful wedding venue.
Floor space perfect for a personal wedding.

Big and busy place with wonderful service and delicious food.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommended. Thank you 👍👌

One of the best places to have asian food(indian or pakistani) its halal and from starters to main course 5 stars but if you are a vegetarian, its 4 out of 5
U. A.
Lovely decor with knowledgeable and attentive waiting staff. The food was served hot, fresh and with good sized portions. Had to take half of it home as it was very filling. In comparison to other local restaurants, it is more expensive if you choose to have a 3 course meal. I guess you're also paying for the majestic surroundings. The restaurant is calm and relaxing if you dine in the early evening, but once it starts to fill up it can be hard to hear the person next to you. I would recommend coming here for special occasions.
I. M.
Great restaurant, amazing food plus great price. Staff pay great attention to requests and great at making suggestions.
A. D.
Poor service waited over 40 minutes for a table and another 40 minutes to be waited on once food came it was raw uncooked however manager sorted it by offering replacement
S. Z.
Too good absolutely amazing food. Highly recommended this u need to try at least once.
N. K.
What a wonderful beautiful place to dine out, lovely food good service and love the Architect moghul style statues beautifully decorated with good sculpture.
A. N.
I loved eating at this place. Fast service responsibly priced and spicy food which I love. HIGHLY RECCOMEND THIS PLACE ! Service may be slow as times but that is due to the fact that they are busy. Seating is great as there are a lot of places to sit. Interior is also really nice to look at and is not too bright despite the many lights .
G. K.
As the word say it MAJESTIC, the foods were divine the service was outstanding, just writing this I can virtually smack my lips
F. S.
I feel disappointed as the service was bad. The staff forgot half our order and we had to keep chasing up. Maybe because it was way too busy or they were slightly unorganised. Nevertheless I have to say the food was always fantastic. I enjoy the decor. Please improve your customer service. Hence the 3 star
r. g.
Several things wrong with our order and many other tables close to us . However the new manager is fantastic. Having not been in the UK long and his English not great he tried his hardest to rectify all the problems on that night. He is friendly, polite and attentive. I wish him every success with this place !

One of the best food I had in this neighbourhood
M. R.
Ok, decor is beautiful but the food is average, orders drinks and other curries... did not arrive with my food. I had to get the waiters attention. The waiter told me that he forgot. Also there were other waiters there, who were in the customers view toy punching each other which is really unprofessional. Overall good. Just need a good management team or a supervisor
s. e.
Really good food, however portions were really small, especially the sharing platter as it was only enough for one person and was like £21. This was unacceptable for a restaurant with a reputation of bwing grand. Service was also super slow and the waiter was rude. Made us less likely to go there again which is a shame as we were really looking forward to going there as the first time we went was excellent. Wont be going there any time soon unfortunately.

delicious food. lovely place, lovely staff, very busy though

A good restaurant to eat at but did encounter issues with food and their spice levels being inaccurate. Everything else is fine
T. A.
We went as a party of six adults and three children for a mid week meal. Even for mid week the place was buzzing and was busy. We were quickly shown to a table. The staff were very friendly and the starters arrived quickly. The starters were very nice. The mains arrived a bit later. The mains were very nice as well. It is a nice little place that I can't fault. Everything was just great.
f. s.
Decorated to a high standard and the food lives upto the expected standard.
N. K.
One of the best curries in Birmingham. Would highly recommend if in the area.
G. O.
Free car park with plenty of space. Good interior condition but overall too dark. Provided child seats for both of the children in our group. Was given a table large enough for our group.
Varied menu but unfortunately small portions for the price. I felt there was the right amount of space for most people, but I prefer my foods very spicy. Dips were tasty but small so had to constantly request for top ups.
Toilets were clean.
Will go again but will need to request extra spice on my good next time.

A great place to visit. Really enjoyed the food. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Birmingham.
H. G.
Beautiful restaurant, family friendly and delicious authentic food! Poppadums and a selection of sweet and savoury dips and chutneys arrive when you’re seated. The handi of the day is reason enough to try this fabulous place. Everything was just perfection. Get the gulab jamun with vanilla ice cream to satisfy your sweet tooth.
J. N.
Good food and great service as always.
T. H.
Fantastic place. I've been here a few times and never been let down. It's quite a large and the decor is very good. They have a smell car park, which gets full petty quickly. Both the service and food is very good.
On my last trip we went as a group of 20. The place was quite busy, but as we had pre booked, we were seated straight away. The waiter was friendly and cheerful. The food arrived in very good time given the size of our group. It was still very tasty. Only small issue was one of the dishes was meant to be very hot, but we found it bland. Other than that we had no issues and everyone enjoyed the food and experience. The price was also reasonable at £20 per head. Will be going again.
If you enjoy Indian food, this is definitely worth a visit.
J. H.
Just wanted to say a big thank you for the great customer service and amazing food. Would like to give our thanks and appreciation to Sabah, she was wonderful and very accommodating for our table of 14 including the children. Was very friendly and explained the allergens contained in the meals to us.
Thanks again! Will definitely be back.

Not very impressed with our recent visits. The staff do try to be attentive but at busy times they are pushed for time but always pleasant, The food has been be hit and miss lately and not consistent eg the butter chicken is not always the same/similar when we have eaten here, on one visit the chicken pieces seemed undercooked and had to be sent back. The quality of the meat dishes have also gone downhill, lots of fatty meat cuts. Come on Tipu Sultan bring back the high quality food you use to once serve.
S. A.
Wow! Great ambience and really nice food.
The food was on time and perfectly cooked.
I would highly recommend Tipu Sultan..

Had a lovely family evening at this restaurant. We were sat down as soon as we arrived at 6 (no booking) and the service throughout the night was absolutely amazing. Our waiter, Jameel, tended to our every need and was extremely polite and friendly. Timing was perfect for our starters and our mains. When our mains arrived we'd figured we needed another curry and Jameel ensured this was brought to us as soon as possible so there was no waiting around on food. Overall, it was a fabulous night and although the food tasted great, the enjoyment of our customer experience was down to the service so thank you very much.
A. A.
Great place to eat in however the main food is not that tasty as it should. Apart from this lil hit expensive too
A. C.
Beautiful place and food is very good. Just a few small attention to detail would take it to the next level and freshen things up but understand things have to be feasible.
Really enjoyed our meal and service was good at reasonable value. Would definitely recommend!

Certain waiters are so stuck up you feel like am in a rated place?
Avoid having saba as your waiter.
Very arrogant and talks down to people, not welcoming.
Others are fine. Avoid Saba,
When we left a tip she looked around and stuck in her pocket without even a word of thanks.
Mixed grill was lovely, green chicken was not worth writing home about.
Butter nan was ace, most curry's 10 out of 10.

AmaIng food and atmosphere, thoroughly enjoyed everything including the desi tea which was much needed!
Top quality, fresh food and great taste.
K. W.
Great food, great service. Really friendly staff and the best in-home cooked curry I've eaten. The aesthetic is lovely and the music fits with the theme. 10/10

Good service, nice place but it can be extremely noisy some times

Good restaurant with very authentic Indian food (especially the prawn tikka starter), and the staff are extremely friendly; they try to help ASAP and are very polite

We visited this place from Bradford on Saturday. It was packed out. I must say the service is exceptional in this place. The staff were friendly and polite. This is my 4th visit to the place and the food quality and taste is superb. I can't fault it. Keep up the good work. Highly recommend this place.

Awesome food and customer service as usual!
