Pretty good restaurant overall (interior could do with an update thou). The food was very good and so was the service. However, we had to wait around 35-40min for our starters and had to ask about them. Fish & Chips was really tasty (probably one of the best I've had), calamari and duck rilette were also really good. Would recommend to give it a visit when in town!

Came to the restaurant with my girlfriend and had a nice experience. We ordered one crab to share, a starter moule with some bread. Nice amount of food to get us ready for the holiday beach mode! The price was not bad: £57 for two people. Will recommend it to people who want to have fresh seafood!

Food was great, service was so disappointing. Melissa was our waitress and we asked her questions but she didn't know much about our food or what flavour milkshakes were available. She kept having to go away and ask and come back. She was very polite and well mannered though. Our menu also had a small set meal menu slipped in, which was only for hotel guests. The manager rudely came over and asked us where we got the menus from, we told them from inside the menus he gave to us. He told us we couldn't order from it and walked away. The menus shouldn't have been given to us on the first place! Such a shame for the terrible service because the food was delicious.

We had a lovely evening here. The food was delicious and staff really nice. We shared the grilled oysters, had 2 mains and then shared a dessert (very generous portion), and 2 lemonades. The bill came up to £70, which was reasonable for a fancy night out. Make sure you book in advance, it's really busy and can get quite noisy inside. The only fault I could find was that they had a very limited selection of non alcoholic drinks.

Their crab is definitely the winner. Totally unexpected. And good value! Would go back again for crab any day. Oysters were fresh. Lobster was a bit pricey for size but cooked to perfection. Mussels were juicy. Service was great too. What a lovely evening. Thank you!

Came here last night with my parents, and it was an amazing experience. Grace, Daniel and our server (didn’t get her name sadly) were fab with the service. The food came quickly and very well done. It was a lovely change from low-quality seafood restaurants. Additionally, the bar staff were great with serving us efficiently and the cocktails we ordered were fab. Atmosphere good and good service. A place to go once in a while as expensive but you pay for quality. I would check when ordering what is in product as I ordered fish pie which said was with cod salmon and prawns and it had a couple of mussels and some squid and no prawns unless chopped up and was served with veg which didn't say did so ordered some asparagus

Our second visit to The Crab was delightful. We were offered a small cup of Thai style soup as a pallete cleanser. Then for starters we had a mixed of seared scallops, calamari rings and mussels with chorizo. For the mains we had seafood liguine, seabass with crushed potatoes, and lobster with skin-on fries. Recommended. We had a great time on our first in July 2021 at this lovely seafood restaurant where we enjoyed starters of a healthy portion of steamed mussels - one with garlic and the other with red Thai curry; very good. For the main course our party enjoyed dishes of a fillet of cod, Crab, and fish & chips with a chef surprise. Highly recommended.

Went here at around lunchtime today. We ordered home cooked breads and olive oil and balsamic vinegar for appetizers. For starters we ordered grilled oysters in parmesan crust. This was the first time I had eaten oysters and they were good. Not beating my favourite food Scallops. We then chose the catch of the day each which consisted of Sea Bream and Sea Bass. We had one each.When our fish arrived it smelled delicious and came with head and tail attached along with the grilled fish skin. All very delicious and nicely decorated. It arrived with a bowl of salad and boiled potatoes. After managing to eat our fish lunch we washed it down with lemonade. The weather today was really hot and the cool restaurant was a welcome respite from the heat. The restaurant was very busy and we phoned ahead to book our table here. It was well worth the visit. I would recommend this place to any one wanting a lovely sea food meal in nice surroundings.

Me and my boyfriend had an amazing experience at The Crab. Service was impeccable, from the reception to the table service. Wow! What a place. The food here is amazing! All three courses. Great location. The very friendly staff make you feel special. Restaurant has some outside seating and a separate bar area inside with lounging seat to have drink if you turn up early. If you want any kind of sea food, there is no better than the Crab restaurant.

Bournemouth landscape is definitely changing, another lovely gastro experience the ambience was amazing, staff attentive and the food was so tasty it was a wonderful experience. If you visit Crab you have to try the crab - fresh and locally sourced. Fish and chips was also divine with good ratio of batter to fish. We changes the chips for asparagus (the other plate had chips) and they were a very good combination for the fish. Lovely atmosphere and setting for a lunch. You can sit outside on a lovely day! We were for lunch and wasn’t as busy which as good. You can tell in the evenings can get busier and some live music will be going on as there is a piano. Service was good, friendly and helpful.

Staycation in Bournemouth and sampling some of the local restaurants and found this little gem. I witnessed the staff being given a really hard time by some very rude customers yet they maintained there professionalism and smile throughout. We were treated to some very tasty sea food and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

A very nice spot to have some seafood. The locally-sourced crab was an absolute stand-out, overshadowing the delicious lobster. The sides leave a bit to be desired, but you're not really coming here to have a great salad. The venue itself was cosy, with some lovely and attentive staff. The outside being so close to the street is a bit jarring at times, but it hadn't taken anything away from the restaurant.

I would give it 5* for the food (except the dressed crab is too mushy). The oysters were delicious, fresh, juicy; the tuna was seared to perfection; and the sea bass was large, tender and nicely seasoned. Where it really falls down is on the noise level. It was so noisy that the staff had to come back several times to confirm the order. We found it difficult to have a conversation, and had to say everything twice. Next time we'll try lunch...

Such a wonderful place. It was recommended to me by a friend who lives in Bournemouth and she wasn't wrong. Food was delicious, staff very friendly and the atmosphere very nice. Would recommend ordering sharing platter as per my photos. If you eat more than average, add bowl of mussels. It all went down really nicely with couple of glasses of white wine. Place is about 1.5 hour drive from where I live, but I'm thinking about my next trip already. Just stunning. With a close proximity to the sea and the pier it makes it a perfect place to go to. My wife and I chose to go here as we both love seafood. Upon arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome and immediately seated ( table booked in advance) by a very helpful and friendly waitress. Our drinks order was taking very quickly and we also ordered some bread and oil which came with a beautiful cup of complimentary bisque that was to die for. The restaurant decor is chic and modern, there was also a pianist playing setting a very comfortable atmosphere. The freshness and quality of the food makes it very obvious the chef and his team are very talented add to that the excellent front of house staff and you have yourself a fantastic restaurant. We had booked somewhere different for tonight but have decided to go back to Crab, without doubt one of the best seafood restaurants I have been to. You will not be disappointed.

I have always wanted to go to the crab and when I saw they were on table pounce I thought it was a great way to be introduced to the restaurant. The food was good but the atmosphere was like porcelain. Very smooth and polished but you don't dare break it with talking. The service was very high class, but we were let down on the last part, dessert. I would go again, but not my first choice.

If you are looking for an elegant place where you can eat good, a romantic place where you can be with your partner having very good views to the beach, this is your place. My recommendation is to order the "fruits de mer" for two people, not only there are plenty of different types of seafood, but also is cooked in an exceptional way. Mussels with double cream to start with, and later on, fried oysters, fresh fish from the day, prawns, crab legs... The thing that improves the food is the service. Not only they double check every dish, but they also care about you as a customer. We were lucky to meet Pablo (one of the managers) who was in charge of the restaurant that day, and made our evening perfect. At the end of the day, they celebrated with us our anniversary bringing us a dessert with "Happy anniversary" written with chocolate on it.

Honestly amazing, food was 9/10 if not 10/10, and I am not even a massive fun of seafood. Prices are more than reasonable given how fresh it all was. Visited this restaurant on 23/10/21! The only restaurant will to take us in with our 12week old baby. We stopped in for a hot chocolate and nappy change in the hotel. Staff was very nice and the restaurant appearance looks amazing. Hopefully we will come back soon. Thank you for your kindness

Pros: Very classy and ambient relaxed atmosphere, Attentive customer service and good value for money. Food was tasty and delicious. Great presentation. Cons. Portion size was disappointing, we had asked for the largest lobster a week prior to our visit as it was my girlfriends birthday and was told it would be reserved. However when we arrived, there was nothing reserved and the waiter looked confused and uninformed, He offered us the standard portion as it was the only choice available. It didn't come with anything else on the plate. We ended up just buying starters to fill our appetite as we were still hungry afterwards. Cocktail menu was good but anything off the books was forbidden. I could see the bartender was eager to make it but had limited ingredients to make it with which was a shame.

We booked for a post graduation lunch. We were met by a very polite and helpful dude who checked our res and showed us to our table but most importantly bringing us chilled water. Possibly a slightly longer wait than I'd like to be served but our restaurant visits are notoriously brief. The food was excellent and enjoyed by all, the cocktail's worked and service was great. We declined a dessert in favour of ice cream on the beach - it was stinking hot after all and I was wearing a wool suit trying to look cool. We would definitely visit again, probably to try the desserts!

As one would expect, the fish is very good. I had Catch Of The Day - Sea Bass and my partner had crab. You couldn't fault it. But what I really want to say is that the dessert in this place was unexpectedly quite stupendous. We both had the chocolate and coffee torte and l would say that it is the best dessert I have ever had in 60 odd years on the planet. Had I paid twice or even thrice the £7.95 I was charged for this marvelous confection, I would still have been happy. The attention to detail was incredible and I can only liken it to a fine wine - a truly priceless experience. Bravo the pastry chef! Unfortunately the service was not great on the night I visited but I think this was a problem of quantity not quality.

Very nice restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and amazing seafood. We had the sharing antipasti for two and hot fruit de mers for two which was all outstanding except the squid was overcooked and had become hard. Easily done and everything else was so good we'll give them that one! Dessert was a chocolate and coffee torte and a lemon tart which were both excellent. Service was at first very attentive but as the place got busier (it looked full) paying the bill became a long wait, could do with another staff member at busy times but, again, everything up to that point was top notch so we'll allow them that! I would highly recommend this restaurant though give your bank a heads up as it is NOT cheap, though it is worth every single penny.

When spending alot of money, you expect better service. There's carpets in the bathrooms which was surprising as it's a modern restaurant...it feels unhygienic to have carpets in a toilet!

First time eating at the Crab. The team are great - very friendly and relaxed. The website makes a big deal of the two AA rosettes received for their food, and for the most part this is backed up by very pretty presentation and some interesting combinations. In a few cases though, the flavour didn't quite match up, with either under-seasoning, or a lack of punch flattening some of the ingredients. The ceviche in particular lacked the acidity I'd normally associate with the dish. On the other hand, the mussels in white wine, the crab and the scallops were all really well cooked. Overall, a good meal, but not one that always backs up the prices with consistent quality.

The foot is delightful and very tasty. That being said, their Lobsters are malnourished and offer no more meat that a average king prawn, despite asking for the largest lobster held. It is clear this is a cost saving excersise as they refuse to price their Lobsters on the menue. It appears that they are trying to squeeze as much value from each customer as humanly possible. If I am being honest, the I have had larger and tastier Lobsters in Bill's Mad Dog Fish and Chips shop. Please don't let the other reviews fool you. Please be prepared to pay £49 for a lobster the size of a chicken thigh.

The seafood platter was perfectly cooked, the freshest fish I've ever tasted and perfectly complimented with sauce and a mousse. The freshly baked bread was delicious. The scallops were just divine. The food we ordered was lovely, have no complaints there, had the ceviche which was less citrusy and drier than I was expecting but it was really nice, the sea bass was full of flavour and the cod was nice and meaty. However, we were first given a little soup appetiser, my mother in law had a chunk of plastic in hers that she almost swallowed, it was pointed out to a waiter (no fuss made by us) and the waiter said sorry about that and we heard nothing more of it. I think I was expecting that they would perhaps make a slightly bigger fuss about it, maybe they would have if we were the sort to make a song and dance out of it, I don’t know what I was expecting but I think some sort of gesture would have been appropriate, my partner didn’t have hers as she was put off by plastic being in her mum’s. The tables were sticky, I think it is most likely the actual texture of the table but it was a bit off putting. We waited on average 20 minutes for each drink order, had to wait 30 minutes for water after my father in law said he was really thirsty, asked twice. Drinks came out wrong and had to wait again. Had to wait for a fair while for table to be cleared after main course and for dessert to be ordered, then about another half hour for desserts to come out, the restaurant was less than half full at this time. It was really slow, regretted ordering dessert as it took so long. The women’s bathroom according to my partner, is carpeted, she said it was a gross feature, the men’s bathroom wasn’t in a great state, toilets were a mess. They also told me when I called them on the hottest day of the year that although shorts were allowed, it was to be smart dress, turn up and people in flip-flops and swimming shorts, why tell me it’s smart when the place is full of people in casual? Luckily I wore shorts anyway because it was too hot to worry about dress-code, but it was a bit annoying being told that when it clearly wasn’t true (I got there 20 mins after phone call). The negatives left it as a bit of a middling experience, decent food, long waits, plastic in food, dirty bathroom, probably wouldn’t bother again as it’s not quite matching the price-point.

Wonderful fish restaurant had one issue ordered mussels to start and fruits de mer for main the mussels were good but when the fruits de mer was serve they brought out an even bigger bowl of mussels then the platter of assorted sea food, l think l should have been advised by the waitress that the main came with large bowl mussels and maybe you might want to change my starter when l questioned her she said l thought you knew which l said we have never been here before so how would l have known. So unfortunately we had a mussel overload left three quarters of the mussels, so be aware when ordering the fruits de mer.

Crab at Bournemouth is the best seafood restaurant we have visited in the town. The ambience was charming, and the excellent pianist added to the overall classy feeling. Scallops, beetroot with goats cheese, mussels and turbot was all superb and well-matched by the extensive wine list. Overall a little pricier than some restaurants but this was true fine-dining and worth every penny. And it is SO refreshing not to find a compulsory service charge on the bottom line of the bill. Well done Crab - we look forward to our next evening there.

This was an absolute gem! My husband and I found this restaurant by chance. We went for dinner on Monday 10th June 2013 and were completely blown away! The food is absolutely unique and so well out together. Really delicious and compared to London prices, amazing value for the food. The only small thing that could be improved is the decor. It is very lovely and clean but the restaurant doesn't do the food justice. Bit bland. My husband had the oysters for entre and I had the scallops. We had the sea bream and coconut crab and chili risotto for main to share. We had such wonderful service and food that we returned promptly the next day for lunch! Once again absolutely amazing. I had the posh fish and chips which i would highly recommend!! WOW! swapped the chips for sweet potato wedges too which we so good. My husband had the 1/2 crab...All simply wonderful. My sister and I stayed at the hotel (also very good) and came in for the set menu on a Monday night. The restaurant was absolutely lovely, delicious food and the set menu was very reasonably priced. Although it was quiet, as it was a Monday night and in winter, the atmosphere was good, lovely setting looking over the sea. We had a lovely waitress serving us she was friendly and on the ball. I had the skate wing which came with a creamy mash with bits of crispy pancetta in it, capers and a caramelised onion. It was so yummy I could have eaten it twice. Also loved my lobster and scallop salad starter, generous portion too! Highly recommend The Crab and the Park Central Hotel for friendly staff, nice rooms and tasty good value food.

No-one topped up my glass: I had to do it for myself, which is very queer for an up-market eatery. They had sold out of Sauternes. I opted instead for the solo normale espresso which, to be blunt, was on the bitter side. I dread to think what thier ristretto would be like. However, everyone was really friendly, the manager was easily spotted should anything have been required of him and there was a beautiful live pianist playing which created a ambiance merveilleuse. On the whole, The Crab comes well recommended and definitely one of the only fine dining options in Bournemouth Town centre.
