Reviews of Regency Restaurant
K. B.
Nice place! Walked by and the food looked yummy and well priced. Seafood tastes very fresh- that's the main selling point. Oysters and fish and chips were lovely- risotto was a real treat.
Calamari could have done with some seasoning- main issue was the curry sauce was so so bad- very strange tasting and not like the traditional.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating. They have lots of pictures of celebrities who have visited on the way down to the toilets- definitely worth a look when you're there!
P. K.
One of the best places to eat in Brighton. Very friendly staff. Fast service. Fresh seafood. Reasonable price. A must for seafood lovers. Will visit again 🤗
S.
We sat at a great table right up front with a view of the sea. Had a series of starters from the menu which has a great selection of seafood options. I would highly recommend the scollops special on the board which was cooked in a sesame chill oil and a nice twist on traditional seafood flavours. The food was all fresh and served piping hot. The staff were also friendly with prompt service.
D. M.
Nice and fresh food, great view on a seafront and professional staff. We were served by a French waiter who was very attentive and friendly. The seafood salad was just the best !
Y. K.
If I could give The Regency more than 5 stars, I would . Service is impeccable , could not fault the staff in any way. They’re very attentive , fast and interactive which makes the atmosphere a more pleasurable experience . A lot of the staff were talking to us , cracking jokes and just all of them are overall nice people . The food is also incredible , the lobster and scallops were very fresh and delicious . We also had passionfruit martinis , crème brûlée , banoffee pie and Irish coffees which were all fantastic. In terms of food and staff, there is nothing to fault, it was a great experience and the price is definitely worth it as the quality of the food and drinks are brilliant. My family and I will always make sure to visit this restaurant every time we come down to Brighton.
A. T.
Good, especially the fish was very fresh. I wouldn't say it is particularly special though. Though it has a good view if you can sit outside or near the front windows.
C. C.
It's such a nice sea food restaurant. I tried the sword fish and the portion is somewhat on the small side I was not disappointed with the taste. I'll definitely go again there when I pass through Brighton. My dish is in the last pic and the rest are my friends or the starters.
J. L.
The restaurant was really busy and one of my friends’ dish wasn’t served 15 min after all the others’ were served. Awks. Scallop and mussel were good, the others are nothing too impressive.
C. G.
Staying in Brighton a couple of days, passed this restaurant on the front, it was busy and looked really nice, fresh fish. We were lucky to get a table as it was busy. Staff were quick and attentive, good service. The food was delicious, fish was so fresh and chips crisp and dry. Delicious. We then had spotted Richard and custard which was also delicious. Was not cheap but food and service like this doesn't come cheap. The restaurant itself was spotless, nice cosy atmosphere. Would definately come here again. The only thing was we paid over £5 service charge on the bill which we don't agree with because the meals, although lovely are expensive enough as it it as.
C. K.
What a lovely experience! Absolutely brilliant food. The scallops, oysters, prawn cocktail and the fish n chips were amazing! Thank you for the great lunch! Can’t wait to come back.
c. k.
It is pretty good restaurant , reasonble price, friendly staff, fish are nice and fresh, and I must say cook very nicely, eventhough it is know for seafood, the spagetthis sauce are suprisingly great , enjoy my meal here
M. Z.
One of the best seafood restaurant in Brighton, seafood were so fresh, especially for the oyster! Apart from that the price were fair and the waiter/waitress was very friendly Definitely worth to pay a visit to come and enjoy some real seafood!
K. K.
Got recommended by colleague. Visited with great expectations with the lovely weather!! Ordered haddock fish & chips, avocado and shirmps accompanied by Maltsmiths IPA. Great taste going sooooo good with the weather, great view!! I personally think its a "must visit to eat while stay in Brighton" !!
L.
Food was not bad compared with what I had in Scotland. Only one area I can think about having better seafood platter is Marseille in France. Well done 👏
M. R.
Got reccomendation to visit this place and absolutely loved it! We went for dinner quite late but still staff was very pleasant, food was fantastic and very nice atmoshepere! So nice to visit such a historic place and have a chance to eat there! Very Satisfied!
L. T.
Just like to thank you and your team of staff for a lovely welcome and fantastic starters, Main especially the Mediterranean Seafood Platter, it was phenomenal. We will definitely be back next time we\\\'re in Brighton and will recommend you to anyone we know. Thank you - Paul and Libby, Stourport on Severn, Worcestershire
W. B.
Enjoyed here with friends and kids! Always crowd of people but Good environment nice food.
R. C.
Don’t think the seafood is as good as the review
Though the dish is big, but taste is normal
s. a.
Beautiful seafood and right on seafront. Only thing let it down was over eager waiters .. we were asked 4 times if we were finished with our starters. Felt like we were being rushed
V. R.
One of the best seafood restaurants I've ever visited. Today we drove to Brighton just to eat here. The fish is fresh and served piping hot, perfectly spiced and cooked. They don't cheap out on the quantity either. The plates are huge and they fill it with food. Highly recommended.
T.
Having come to this restaurant for years whenever we visit the area, it is good to see The Regency is as popular as ever.
The menu range is vast, without being too much and the staff are happy to help with any requests they can accommodate. Staff are friendly and with a lot of familiar faces who have been there for years give confidence that it is a booming family business.
Sadly, the standard of food wasn't what it has been in the past, but supply issues and cost must definitely affect that and I commend the restaurant for operating in the same way it always has - with excellent service. Will definitely return next time we visit Brighton.
A. D.
I already want to go back!!
From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by happy staff. We sat outdoors, but got a bit cold after our starters so they moved us to a table inside which was lovely of them.
The food was amazing, cocktails were great, dessert was also really good.
I have to say the highlight was the staff though, every single person we encountered was soo friendly! The owner also came over a few times, he was so nice to us and made sure we had a good laugh.
We will definitely be going back soon!
T.
Generally taste alright not the best pasta or oyster but good view. The service was average could be better when there is a 12.5% service charge.
P. K. L.
Seafood Platter at £55. Used to be £50 two years ago. Quality improved a lot, scallops came large, perfectly cooked and everything was fresh. The platter mussels weren’t Sandy at all and everything was clean and presented well.
Would recommend for all rounder best seafood.
Nice casual atmosphere and service was attentive but could be more organised.
R. S.
We visited twice in a short period of time! Seafood were fresh at a reasonable price. Staff were friendly and we were impressed by the service. What would make it a 5-star for us if we could have more prawn or scallops rather than mussels or clams in the seafood platter.
J. C.
A little bit disappointed. Lobster spaghetti did not surprise me, actually the taste similar to tesco meal deal. I will not recommand to my friend.
A. C.
5 star food and service. Amazing seafood and lovely dining room
G. S.
Favourite seafood restaurant in Brighton. Never fails to leave us satisfied every time. Staff are so lovely, we found the waitress with long black hair was amazing with her service. Definitely keep coming back. A real treat.
M. A.
Love Regency Restaurant. We usually eat here when we're in Brighton. There's something for everyone on the menu, even if you don't like seafood.
Staff are busy, but never too busy for customers, and many have been there for years.
Food is excellent and the seafood is always really fresh.
D. F.
The food was absolutely delicious. I had the grilled whole sea bass and the flavor was just perfect. Highly recommend.
C. m.
Been here a couple of times with friends. The food is always lovely and the service great. I had the deep fried seafood platter, good have done with some more prawns but otherwise was delicious. I couldn't finish it all.
L.
We ordered the hot seafood platter which is £55. It was quite nice and the seafood are all fresh! Such a lovely restaurant!
D. M.
A lively place indeed. I was in a group of ten and they managed to look after us very well. As a starter, the scallops were a great hit (I had oysters and they were delicious). For non-fish eaters, three of our group had the mixed grill and they were very impressed. It can get packed at peak times and some waiting may be necessary; if you can, I suggest booking your time ahead of time.
R. N.
Great fresh seafood and good service. I really enjoyed eating here, the scallops were a particular standout. Service was good and even though prices were on the higher end, you get your money's worth. If you enjoy good seafood, I would highly recommend.
A. M.
Every time I come to Brighton I come here to eat. The food is freshly made, super tasty and the portions are good too. The staff are always super friendly and always welcoming. Also child friendly. I highly recommend it! And it's not over priced either. Oh and they do a banging cocktail too.
S. C. 3.
Wonderful seafood restaurant on the seafront
Food is amazing. The restaurant is good value and very clean. Had a really good seafood platter. The service was as good as you would get anywhere in the world as Elvira was our host and made the experience magical.
J. B.
Large amount of seafood at reasonable prices. Dog friendly if sitting outside. Too much cheese sauce with the lobster, so couldn't taste it much. Not the highest quality, but good nonetheless.
P.
One of my favourite restaurants in Brighton, really great food. I usually have fish and chips, but I decided to change this time and I had a beautifully cooked sea bass with boiled potatoes. Yummy!
D. H.
Had a fantastic meal, all the staff were warm and welcoming, from the they opened the cad door, when we arrived till we paid the bill. Real old school restaurant, looking forward to going again on our next trip to Brighton
J. A.
We waited around 30-40min, seems like fast moving compared other restaurants. We ware very hungry 🤤 that time. So ordered calamari, king prawn 🦐 with garlic as main, seafood spaghetti, sea bass fillet with lemon and asparagus!! My husband had two pint of Guinness, I had a mock-tile passion fruit. We really enjoy all food and time. And staff are very friendly and great! Seafood pasta clam is not clean, some have sand or small rock””” They have customer toilet as well. We enjoyed 😬😍and Total we paid around £80-85 inc 10% service charge. Also they have lobster 🦞oyster
b. b.
We came to the Regency Restaurant for a birthday meal, as always the staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was absolutely fantastic! I had the seaford platter which was beautiful. I'm sure we will be back soon!
L. A.
It's worth the day trip from London to satisfy our seafood cravings.
C. A.
This place is always good and it was always good. It's not cheap but it's not overpriced. The staff are cheerful and helpful, the setting is perfect and they serve reliably tasty seafood by the sea in the most awesome town in Britain.
J. C.
Really nice fresh fish staff are very friendly.
C. W.
We booked before going, it’s very popular and quite busy!
Service was great, food and drinks arrived promptly.
The food was good, nothing amazing but just what you’d expect for a seafood family restaurant. I would go back!
S. H.
My wife and I had a meal tonight.I had sea bream which was very good.My wife had grilled chicken which was dry.
The restaurant was very overstaffed and the younger male waiters appeared to be at a loose end.
They hung about at the door in groups where laughed and joked and fooled around.
At one stage a pen came flying through the air and struck my glasses.
The waiter apologized which was fine but my wife and I felt that we could have without this during our meal.
S.
Girls weekend away in Brighton this was our dinner breakfast and lunch...amazing service delicious seafood value for money very clean friebdky staff definately will be back
S. C.
Decent menu with a lot of options to cater for all tastes (if you're not into seafood for example). Everything is served with chips. Quality of good was ok. My biggest complaint is that the staff are super eager, to the point of being pushy, to take your order so they can turn covers quickly.
F. F.
This is a very popular fish & chip restaurant with a wide selection of other fried seafood, e.g. calamari and whitebait. There's not a wide selection of non-fish & chip dishes. The waiter was rude, particularly when presented with the wrong order, he'd written down what he brought but it wasn't what I'd ordered and made it clear that was my fault 😕. I won't be going back but in fairness my husband enjoyed his cod & chips.
R. B.
This place is AWESOME. No. It's awful. You don't wanna go there. I'm only saying this so I can get a seat next time. Reservation essential in the evening as the seafood is to die for. A highlight of my year when I go to Brighton marathon
2022 Edit. No seriously....a truly terrible place with no atmosphere and rubbish food........ hahaha
I'm not surprised the place is packed. Fantastic food and service. Glad I reserved a table. Highly recommended
P. S.
Service here was fairly rude and inefficient had to wait over 10 min to get seated. Food was ok.
Update April 2022: service speed wasn’t too bad and seafood are fresh so now they got another star
A. S.
Nice and busy seafood restaurant. Staff really good and attentive, the food was decent too. Well worth a visit
A. D.
The starters were lovely, we shared two starters, king prawns and scallops, both of us had the same main, fish and chips, lovely fish but the chips could have been better, small and hard chips. They were super busy but did what they could to serve us in a timely manner but I found it very noisy inside.
P. R.
Great place to eat. The fish in particular is excellent...fresh and wholesome. The staff are welcoming and efficient and quick! Good buzzing atmosphere
J.
So so good if you love seafood then the seafood platter is extremely worth it. Freshest, sweetest mussels I've tasted in a while and the cod and chips is excellent. Would recommend the crunchy banana fritter for dessert as well it's so moreish!
A. A.
Taken for lunch by friends. Excellent food, reasonably priced, well priced house wine. Staff very efficient and attentive. Busy but served very quickly and with a smile.
C. M.
Very fresh seafood 🦞,family friendly loved it, service fantastic, recommend! 👏🏼👏🏼
B. J.
Great oysters, garlic prawns. Toffee pudding was nostalgic. Good beer selection and helpful wait staff even though busy.
J. C.
Great fresh seafood. The oysters were amazing. The calamari was a big portion and really tender and fresh. The prawns were rich and tasty. The cod was good, but a little greasy. The restaurant is super busy at lunch time. Quite reasonably priced, we paid under £40 for 5 dishes and drinks!
J. L.
Great food and atmosphere and friendly, bubbly staff. What more could you ask for? Can't wait to go back and try other menu items!
V. L.
I booked a table for 2 at 18:00 and requested for a table next to window. As we arrived to the restaurant, they gave us warm welcome and a table next to window with sea view. It was a great spot to dine with sunset. That was already wonderful.
As for the food, we ordered moules as starter and then hot seafood platters and a dozen of oyster. All the food comes together but we totally enjoyed it as we were starving and it was great that we don’t have to wait. Seafood is fresh, wine is tasty.
Thank you for giving us a very impressive night to celebrate our first anniversary.
S. l.
This is the second time I went to regency when I went to Brighton. I really wanted to give 5 at the beginning...
Food⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️it's always amazing. Everytime I ordered scallop, the regency seafood risotto, fish (haddock) and chips and......the house white wine
Service ⭐️⭐️
As we sitting outdoor, so inevitably the food is expose and that attracts the mosquito /flies.
And I found out a dead mosquito in the wine not long it's served later. So I asked a staff to change a new one for me. She looked at me , took my fork, put it in my wine glass, take out the dead mosquito and saying "see? You just have to take it out like this". I was shocked. It's ridiculous. She asked me so you wanna change a new one? I said yes since there's a dead mosquito. She said,"but that's not my fault." I said,"I know. I just want a new one. I can't drink." Then she is not happy but still went back to the bar to change.
What I wanna say here is the restaurant is really amazing, but everytime this waitress just ruin my experience. She's rude, not friendly, always showing she's annoyed. I never expect I will receive a service like this at regency. Other staff are so nice so friendly.
Again, I recommend going to regency, but try to avoid this waitress haha (I'm sure you'll sense right away when you go to the restaurant:)

Situated on Brighton sea front this sea food restaurant offers is spacious and light with an extensive menu of fresh fish, salads and variety of dishes.
We were very happy with our dishes and drinks and will definitely be returning here when next in Brighton.
M. D.
Really good seafood, my wife had the sea whole bass which she loved, I had the the extravaganza which I shared with my brother. It was amazing the scallops where cooked to perfection as was the lobster. Very very nice you would have to be really hungry to eat it on your own.
T. S.
Overall a nice experience. The food was ok but it didn't stand out as expected. Would still recommend though. Reasonably priced considering the location.
H.
A friend recommended, service was good, friendly staff. With 18 people order from my group of friends, didn’t have to wait long for food to be served. Portions are decent size. Not much special with the food, how ever food is nice and fresh. With the bill coming up at £600, was a hard hit. Would visit again.
S. H.
Beer and chips outside! Friendly courteous staff made me feel very welcome.
G. G. U.
After my ride into Brighton for the London to Brighton Bike Ride 2022 I was more than in need of a rest and meal. Me and my parents found this restaurant close to where we had parked the car. On the corner of Rewas gency Square by the British Airways i360 we found the Regency Restaurant.
It was very busy with indoor and outdoor seating. We were seen to very promptly and given a seat outdoors looking out across the seafront.
Menu choice was extremely good. Including shell seafood, pasta, steaks, grilled food, fish and much more. I had a pint of one of their Italian beers, and the mixed Grill. Came very well presented with steak, lamb, sausage, egg mushrooms and fries. Tasted amazing 😋 loved it. The beer was ice cold light and refreshing. Hit the spot after my cycling from Clapham common.
Had to try the Tiramisu and ice cream and it was homemade. Best Tiramisu I've had in years.
The staff were truly amazing, very friendly and helpful.
On route to the toilets I noticed the stairs had a impressive collection of famous faces that had visited the restaurant. People such as Bill Nighy, Brian May, Julie Waters, Rick Stein, Andrew Marr, and many more.
Apparently it's the oldest Seafood restaurant on the seafront in Brighton going back as far as 1930. Lots of original features still there now.
Would highly recommend to all. You would not be disappointed if visiting Brighton.
S. D.
Was okay, but nothing special. Service good and bad. Had better seafood pastas elsewhere. Shellfish platter was only okay. Big, fresh, yes, but tasteless. But I would give it another go
F. C.
Good food but the tables are too close to each other, even though the seating area is outdoors. Would be better if they were a bit further apart especially during these times.
S. S.
The food was great. Fish was so fresh. Chips so clean and fresh. Risotto really tasty. Prawns were sadly not as fresh as normal otherwise it would have been a 5* review.
Kids Bolognese went down a treat and was very well received.
Good quick straight forward no fuss service
The tiramisu is really great!!!!
S. B.
Always visit for a coffee when im passing.
They offered gluten free bread, so was able to have a bacon sandwich.
Really tasty and nice thick bacon.
H. D.
I definitely recommend this place if you’re in Brighton and fancy a sit down fish and chips.
Everything was cooked well, the staff are attentive and you overlook the sea.
Not the cheapest but worth it.
E. L.
Good foods and out standing service 😍
M. S.
Great spot, but the staff spent all the time talking to each other in a foreign language and ignoring guests which doesn't make you feel like you should have bothered especially when fish n chips for 2 costs £30 as they have included a service charge. Do yourself a favour buy them from Bankers on Western Road and eat them on the beach ⛱
C. D. C.
A busy restaurant, luckily they’ve got a free table to fit me in. Staff are friendly, and the food serving is huge. Worth the price. Although it can be a bit windy, I would definitely recommend to try their outside seating.
S. G.
Drove down from London on my birthday just to eat here. Best seafood ever. Freshest fish and nice big portions.
T. B. (.
Amazing seafood restaurant! Lots of choice on the menu, seafood is all freshly prepared for each dish. We had the lobster platter. Well presented and tasted amazing! I would highly recommend this restaurant if visiting Brighton! Lost of celebrities come here, pictures on the wall to prove it! Not too expensive but still pricey.
r.
First time at regency, food was fantastic, great portions well cooked and great friendly service, will definitely be visiting again.. Highly recommended!
j.
Went with partner and two kids. Very friendly staff - made the kids laugh. I had whitebait to start and hake for main. Both delicious. Even though it's a fish restaurant there are options. Missus had a steak and kids had spaghetti bolognese - big bowls of pasta and only four pounds a pop. I've been coming here since I was a kid and you're pretty much guaranteed good food. Highly recommended.
B.
My girlfriend and myself had a seafood platter and it was the best.I've been going to the Regency for over 20 years and each time the food is great.
Bernard and Amelia
R. H.
There was a party of 12 of us and the staff got a table for us very quickly. The staff were very helpful and the food was very tasty. Great seaside fish and chips. The salad was also great and olive oil, balsamic vinegar and chilli oil was brought to me on request. The price was extremely good for the service and quality of food we received and its just by the seaside. It was very busy so try to book in advance if you can. Definitely recommend this place.
C. O.
An efficient and friendly restaurant in Brighton that serves the most amazing seafood. Seriously, the calimari here may be the best I've ever tasted.
A well stocked bar and beers on tap are available for those patrons and the menu has plenty to offer from the simple of palettes to the more adventurous diner. I had fried place and chips (after the heavenly calimari) and it was beautiful. The fish was delicate and without lots of unnecessary batter.
There were plenty of staff on hand so we were in and out quickly which suited us but they did not rush us at all. Plenty of locals coming in which is always a good sign and the beach is just over the road. A massive recommendation.
D. D. B.
Excellent breakfast and lunch.
Apparently some of, if not the best Fish and Chips in town.
The food is great, decently prized and with a great selection.
Being in Brighton, we opted for the Fish and Chips, and we also tried the English breakfast at the start of our day.
The staff was very friendly and professional.
The atmosphere is worth a visit, the place is very popular and there's a reason for it
D. R.
Sensational. The Banoffee Pie was 10/10!
C. K.
Very nice restaurant! Qualitative food and very fast service! definitely recommend it!
N. W.
Food was good but when we entered the restaurant, a waitress just walked into inside without saying anything. Service charge was already included in our bill but didn’t feel like paying honestly 😅
And the other day, I was asked if I am Chinese or not. when I said no, they laughed at me. Probably they were guessing or doing something like that. Actually, I did not mind at that time, but my friend got mad at the staffs. So We ended up with not having meals there.
m. s.
We booked but still had to queue up. When we got service it was good but we waited about 20 minutes before we got a drink. Which we had to ask for. Not a great experience 😕
Q. D.
Brilliant food, no more words can describe it's freshness, also delicious and great amount of food provided!!
G. C.
Absolutely delicious food
A. A. B.
The service was good
The hot seafood platter was good and the sauce was testy
We have tried the fish soup and spaghetti bolognese but were not delicious and we didn’t like it
The price was a little expensive
K. C.
My favourite seafood restaurant not only in Brighton but the UK.
I absolutely love this place & the warm environment tops it off.
M. H.
Great hot lobster plater extravaganza : bit pricy but well worth it. Whole lobster, 3 scallops, 2 oysters, 2 prawns with a full bucket of mussels and clamps. Absolutely delicious!
The fish pie was average in comparison.
Yes this place is busy most the time.
Yes the service can be interesting and staff can be sarcastic. I took them as continental European styles. They were indeed friendly and nice.
V. D.
Nice fresh seafood in front of the beach. It great. Staff are always nice and friendly too.
A. L.
Excellent food for decent price. Went there for lunch at the recommendation of a local. Order the grilled fish medley and oysters. Oysters were absolutely fresh and tasted perfect with a dash of lemom juice. The grilled fish had huge portion and came with cod, salmon and sardine which were well done and juicy. Staff service was excellent as well.
H. B.
The place is marvellous! Everything is to the proper extent! If you are a Mandarin speaker and have a hard time reading the menus then it’s totally fine, they’ll have a translated menu handy.
The staff are friendly and well trained.
B.
This place has to be one of Brighton & Hove's hidden gems. It serves the freshest seafood, spotlessly clean, award winning and menus even in Mandarin (Chinese) [with whom it is super popular]
K. A. S.
Fish and Chips in Brighton...
The best...
V. L.
The food was what you expect for seafood nothing too special. The queue + waiting time for food was 1 hour+ which was expected as it is a very popular dining place. Barely any social distancing but they tried their best. Their mussels were really delicious and i recommend them 100%. It’s a place where many celebrities have been. The toilets were slightly unfortunate and could use an update. The prices were really good as they do the 50% eat out scheme.
M.
Wonderful food. We are very happy with all items we ordered. Really efficient table service as well. This is a restaurant I would love to revisit again and again!
N.
Nice and fresh seafood (lovely lobster), and ok-tasting pasta. Portion is quite large, a good value for money. The venue was very crowded and noisy when I was there. Also have to note, the staffs were very friendly.
W. N.
Been coming here for my seafood fix, a few times a year and it never disappoints. Prices are reasonable. Food is always good. Staff are always friendly. Car park across the road makes things easier.
C. W.
Good food but nothing wow about it. Compared to when I visited a few years back, it wasn’t as impressive as before. My expectations didn’t match with reality. The place was very busy so the service felt rushed. The scallops starter was definitely the best part of the meal, flavoursome and well cooked. Haddock main was a bit dry and heavy, not the light and tasty batter I like. I would come back when it’s not so busy but I wouldn’t be putting it on the top of my list.
E. L.
Went there for a pre concert dinner with friends last night. The food is really good with reasonable price. I ordered grilled sea brass served with salad which is £14.95. You can choose to serve with chips or potatoes. Service is good and fast. Highly recommended.
V. L. (.
The seafood spaghetti was so good. So were the big scallops. Good spot by the ocean

I found the food to be decent and fairly well priced but the waiters to be impatient and rude. We ate here on a gorgeous day and were keen to enjoy the view, yet upon arrival in the waiter attempted to march down to the dark lower floor despite there being plenty of free tables upstairs. I protested and we remained upstairs but he wasn't remotely accommodating. Apparently all the window seating is permanently reserved so despite being empty you are unlikely to be able to sit there. I think this sort of policy and attitude stinks and it tainted my enjoyment of eating here.
K.
Long queue but definitely worth it. If you want some fresh seafood, this is the place to go. Have been eating in this restaurant since 2006, quality is still brilliant.

My friends and I had a wholesome dining experience in Regency Restaurant for a few reasons:
1) Food:
Took us a long time to decide what we wanted but when we finally did, we got half a dozen of fresh oysters as starter. The oysters were really good and was served quickly after we placed the order. As for the main course, I had grilled sea bass (as shown in the photo). The fish was amazingly fresh and well done, served with salad.
The only imperfect was sea bass being too oily, some people might find it hard to finish the whole thing. Also, did I mention the sea bass was about 15"? Yeap.
2) Pricing: On average, pastas available on the menu cost about £9 - £14 and you get a generous amount of pasta.
3) Customer service:
Now, I have to say that their customer service is indeed excellent because the servers had smiles on their faces, were very friendly and helpful. For example, I had a sore gum and asked for some ice, I got a glass of it and a bunch of mint candy.
One small flaw to it was probably the fact that the server started to get impatient because it took us a long time to decide and the server couldn't even bothered to respond when we were asking for clarification for some items on the menu.
Alas, one single person does not ruin the experience though, I might add. Throughout our visit, the servers walking past our table would tap on your arm playfully or even encourage you to finish your drink!
Verdict: 8/10 would come back if next Brighton trip ensure!

Delicious food. I had
Seafood risotto and a glass of
Wine. Good service and not bad prices for a seafront restaurant
A. R.
Excellent food an service! We arrived and been shown a table straight way even though the restaurant seemed busy. The waiters promptly asked us for drinks and food. The haddock with Greek salad (as shown in the picture) was delicious. Not greasy but crispy and tender. The salad was well dressed and included olives and feta cheese. My girlfriend ordered chips with her fish and even they were not greasy but tender and well cooked.
5* well deserved!

#britishcooking its what it is, very little to say even on a good day, so in the case youre non british, suggest had your expectations tuned. had said all that, we enjoyed the food and the casual atmosphere.
C. P.
Food very tasty as usual. Nice and kind staff. Very clean place, not expensive.
O. Y.
At first they give me the dirty and greasy cutlery but the waitress changed it quickly so that’s fine. Nice service and friendly staff. I really like the scallops:)
Y. J.
Portion is good! But risotto is not expected, a lot of sand inside the shellfish 😮💨
D. A.
Excellent location and extensive menu of delicious seafood.
L. W.
I’ve visited a few times now and the friendly service and great food never disappoints! Look forward to visiting again soon.
S.
Food is good. Service is also good but depends on the person. Some staffs are friendly but some staffs not.
C. A.
Lovely restaurant. Very busy as it was Valentine's night, but the food was superb and the staff very friendly. Would definitely recommend.
L. P.
Service) some of the service staff were very nice and friendly, while others were impatient and not attentive. Plus the 10% service charge wasn't appreciated considering we had to call staff over after waiting 20 minutes for a desert menu!!
Food) Delicious seafood platter, with lobster, oysters, clams, mussels in a range of delicious sauces. (Would of been a bonus to have had bread served with the platter to soak up the extra sauce)
Dessert was delicious but a very small size
Decor) Nice large restaurant, but in need of redecorating especially in the restrooms
Price) £47 for the seafood platter
£5 for dessert
Overall) 7/10
Would visit again but probably order something different
D. H. (.
We went here on an off chance they had space around 1330, we were seated very quickly with great service. We ordered scallops, fish pie, prawn salad and spaghetti, it was obvious that the food was cooked fresh and every dish tasted amazing even a basic prawn salad, the scallops in my wife's words "to die for". It was not the cheapest or most expensive but you really do get an amazing meal for the price. It's now our goto restaurant when we visit Brighton. Well done and keep up the great food and service.
S. S.
the fish and chips are very fresh, delicious. Also prices are reasonable. We saw pictures of lots of famous people, even Brian May's! Apart from the communication with the customers, meals and fishes are very best.
O. V.
Food was good, some of the fish was just a bit overcooked. The side salads didn’t have any dressings. The service was great, very nice people, although they forgot the oysters. We will definitely be back.
A. D.
The food was really good, however service was slow. We had to get the waiters attention to clear our tables and take orders
N. D.
Friendly staff serving generally tasty food by the seaside.
B. G.
Fun place! Lively and got that old school nofuss vibe. The food is reasonably priced considering where it is but the oysters weren't that good. Hence the average score. Probs go back tho
O. G.
Overall good food, the risotto was very tasty, the fish (halibut) was ok. Service a bit slow but it was expected given it was absolutely packed. Would come back.
J. S.
Came in on the off chance ..loved it ..great atmosphere & great food...lovely staff too ...will be back !!
D. G.
Amazing food for our work team day out. We all loved it and finished it all.
B.
INCREDIBLE FISH & CHIPS!
We ate here on Saturday 26th Oct in high winds and stormy conditions. Booked a table on line to get in out of the rain. A simple process. Superb atmosphere and decor. Extensive menu so hard to make a choice as every other meal we saw on other dinners plates looked amazing. In the end a simple cod and chips was chosen. Incredible light batter, super fresh fish, super tasty chips. Recommended 100%.
J. A.
Great service, all the doubts i had were solved with kidness and The food was very nice😁
R. C.
Good fish dishes, good service. The tiramisú is excellent.
N. W.
Really great food and staff. Friendly relaxed service, lovely location sat watching the world go by!
G. P.
Very good and fresh seafood, with a great view, if you sit outside. The service was quick and the prices were ok.
If you're looking for fish and chips, it's not explicitly in the menu, because you can choose from different fishes, that come with chips. Our just ask a waiter.
The building itself and its history are interesting.
m. l.
After my experience this place will only remain a historic Briton seafood place.
Very nice atmosphere and good food but very disappointed from the bill and the wine.
t. t.
Wonderful place to eat, very welcoming and friendly atmosphere, food is of great quality and reasonably priced, staff are polite, friendly and helpful, toilets on site which are clean and have all the necessary products, overall a great place to eat for all your food times of the day
E.
Delicious food. Great customer service. Definitely be back soon. Fresh clean delicious food. Great atmosphere
A. T. S.
Great service, well prepared, very good menu
Y. D.
Delicious and well prepared seafood. Welcoming staff.
A. A.
Highly enjoyed our experience and food. Very nice to the kids
L. H.
Very busy restaurant across the street from the ocean with friendly waiters. Good food and great selection of beverages. I must also add that it wasn’t particularly difficult (being a vegan) to a meat free & tasty meal!
H. B.
Cold/ hot fish platter for 2 with bottle ofoet chanson for £99.00. Great deal!! Super service
D. H.
My husband is celiac, he had fish I batter and chips plus gluten free peroni
Just amazing, fantastic staff
T. C.
Reasonably priced seafood big portion and great taste. Fast service n friendly staff.
D. N.
Very taste fresh local fish and seafood in portions above average at prices well below the average.
F. W.
Great restaurant, great food.
The price is reasonable and the seafood is really delicious, must visit!
J. S.
Great to be back! Have been going to the Regency for 30 years, love it. Nostalgic! Lovely food, service was superb, friendly, helpful.
R. K.
This place was located very close to The British Airways i360. It’s guaranteed that you’ll get to see the beautiful view of the coast.
All the food tasted good and were served on big portions! So they were worth the price. A must visit place in Brighton.
T. V.
Fantastic place on the sea shore. Delicious sea food and exceptional service. Highly recommend.
S. T.
Although known for their fish and chips, it wasn't fantastic. But other dishes made up for it. Frutti de Mare was brilliant! Went back again to have it. Seafood was fresh and cooked very well.
N. W.
Really good food. Best service we've had since the first lockdown. Thank you for such a nice dinner 👍🏻
L. H.
Great for seafood. Went twice, first time was so good (the staff and service, the food) we booked the next night. Second night was a Saturday and there were different staff. I asked for medium rare steak but got well done, and it was butterflied. No point saying as my partner had his and we'd have had to wait. Cest la vie, these things happen, it's still a great place.
d. c.
Came here with my wife daughter and her boyfriend on a day trip to Brighton. My daughter had been before and recommended it. You can't beat a good fish and chips and the one I got here was delicious. Only gave four stars cos back in Glasgow there's a couple of chippy's that do a mean fish in breadcrumbs and chips which are really delicious 😋
J. P.
I had a lunch in a busy day and lemon sole was okay nothing special. I need to try the place in a normal day to compare the food and service.
k. t.
One of brighton's oldest seafood restaurants by the seaside. Seafood was fresh and cooked really well. Staff were friendly and nice. Prices are relatively affordable!
J. M.
Amazing food we had a great evening. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I have recommended to friends who also enjoyed it.
S. M.
I'm from Guildford in Surrey and I travel to Brighton for their food. FANTASTIC food, Atmosphere and service. Very traditional Italian. Can't say anything bad about it at all. Great fresh fish/seafood selection. Not too expensive either. Every time I go I always feel like I'm back in amalifi or somewhere in the Mediterranean😊🤗😍110% reccomen going
A. E.
Opened for the early birds of Brighton, I had an excellent English breakfast. It was a nice big, full plate. Plenty of beans, mushrooms. Great coffee. Very fairly priced for what I got.
I recommend it.
G. J.
Simply the best plaice and chips ever. Friendly and efficient staff. Even got us a taxi.
A. Y. G.
Really good seafood, old charm with pleasant staff and a cracking view of the prom.
L. R. T.
We think that the place was good value for money. The mains were nice and they feed you and the desserts were tasty. I recommend this place!
M.
Decent price, fresh and delicious. Waiters or waitress are friendly, would recommend to everyone.
A. M.
Amazing restaurant went today .Stuff wery polite and quick thank you for your job guys keep at like this all we time;)))
C. P.
The fish was delicious. Grilled medley-hake, swordfish, salmon and sardines.
A. J.
Excellent fresh fish served. Staff very friendly and helpful.
S. B.
Friendly staff +nice huge platter of seafood +fine risotto. Little bit expensive but worthy We paid around 100pound for 4people.
R. P.
Fantastic lunch at Regency. Very reasonable. I recommend the scallops and the swordfish 🙂. My other half had the prawn spaghetti and said it was very good too!
A. W.
Most cheerful service by a lovely team who try hard and work fast. Happy smiles and humour all round.
Food is very good, building is very retro with what must be an 18' high ceiling. It could be a set for a Victorian film, it's wonderful.
3 courses for 2 including 2 glasses of wine and a pint was £85 inc.service charge. Worth every penny.
C. H. C.
Roast chicken is too dry and not juicy , the seafood is very nice and the risotto is also tasty.
T. R.
I’ve been meaning to go here for awhile and finally got to visit for lunch. A traditional restaurant in a lovely old building. Lovely view of the front, attentive and kindly staff, but some of the best seafood and fish I’ve ever eaten. Don’t miss it, it’s on the borders of Brighton and Hove, but decidedly Brighton!
R. M.
Outstanding, fresh and excellent value meal. Had the Plaice Meuniere which was delicious and excellent value at under £10. The tiramisu was also one of the best I've had outside of Italy. Highly recommended.
M. C.
One of the places in Brighton where you can try properly seafood. Very nice place.
B. A.
Excellent cod and fish, best I’ve had in the uk. Good very light batter and great quality fish.
H. H.
Excellent fish restaurant in lovely historical building opposite i360. Have been visiting for over 30 years when visiting Brighton. Always good.
D. A.
Great food ,very friendly staff.if in Brighton worth a visit.
G. B.
Best seafood restaurant we have ever visited! Excellent value for money. Top service from staff.
J. S.
A place we always visit when in Brighton. Friendly service, made welcome from the get go and through out service. Food, fabulous, truly recommended..
M. T.
Very tasty food, i really enjoy it clean nice restaurant with nice stuff and very nice view. But is not accessible for everybody because here food it's very expensive, the plate you see in the pics is 40£ apart of your drink
S. F.
If you love seafood this is the place to go. Great food good service.
G. d. l. S.
Very good food and great value- perfect for people visiting Brighton for the first time and wanting to try seafood/fresh fish. Giving it 3 stars (perhaps I should give it 2) as the service was TERRIBLE. You are treated like cattle and there's no respect for bookings whatsoever. On top of that, most servers are incredibly rude: an older man with gray and long hair was taking our order and as I asked my friend to order his drink he interrupted us and said "are you ordering or what?". I felt bad for two younger waiters who were trying to do a good job whilst being friendly in what seems to be a toxic and rude work environment.
S. K.
Great place, fast service and delicious food.
K. C. S.
Good fish and chip with varieties of other seafood and shellfish. Serve steak too. Good service and reasonablly price.
J. C. (.
Really nice place, staff were friendly. Not much on the menu if you're not a fan of fish (obviously) but the mixed grill is pretty lush!
s. e.
The biggest selection of seafood dishes I've seen in a restaurant so far, very fresh fish in good sized portions. Reasonable prices and very friendly service. A great experience all in all!
D. P.
The food was good but the service was poor. The waiters appeared to be wanting to be somewhere else. Enjoyed the meal. The service let them down.
D. K.
Great food, very friendly staff, ok prizes. Everyone was very happy with their food. The oysters were amazing, the fish and chips, too. Very value for money, overall. Definitely worth a visit, I would recommend it.
S. F.
Had a really lovely fish supper with our friends, excellent food , friendly staff, very popular therefore very busy 🌟
M. D.
I have been coming here for over 25 years. Whenever I want a good meal in Brighton, this is my go to place. The food is excellent and great value and the staff are friendly and very attentive. Long may this establishment continue. Looking forward to our next visit. Μπράβο!! Καλή όρεξη!!
K. N.
Busy seaside restaurant - the renovated part at the back is much more comfortable. Food was good for the price but a bit under seasoned, nothing to write home about.
D. B.
Great restaurant, if you're in Brighton you have to go here, with sunshine remember to book your table otherwise get ready in the queue, the service is good and the food is very tasty with good portions, thanks to Angelo and all the staff which are working hard to give good customer service! (Not a posh place and with a little italian attitude)
D. G.
Fantastic restaurant. Great service, exceptional food, lots of choices, reasonable prices. I would highly recommend The Regency if you are in Brighton
R. R.
Fancied plaice and chips, sometimes the easiest dishes are an indicator of standards. Started with white at, delicious,Plaice and chips main course, nice light batter and very tasty fish, chips crispy outside soft inside.
B. Z.
Fairly priced, the quality of the food differs on what you order so it is advisable to check what is fresh. Narrow seating but casual comfortable atmoshpere...
j. g.
Good view. Lovely staff. But check what you order. Double check your order. Plaice and coiled potatoes came as cod and chips. Rainbow trout dressed came with bones. But otherwise OK. Service charge 10% to bring your food and drink.
F. D. F.
Female Dj Frizzie travelled from London to Brighton to enjoy this Awesome spot. Ordered from the house specialty section - rice risotto and sea bass fish. Enjoyed the meal. Service was cool.
T. L.
Perhaps on of the best seafood places in Brighton. Waiters love a good banter too.
P. K.
A little bit of more than a nice view and wonderful seafood cuisine :) the way it served, forces you to enjoy each minute spent in a restaurant, also you can try and choose their fine wines. If the main road isn't so busy, you'll be able to enjoy fantastic sea view. There's more facilities surrounding this place, but here is about the restaurant itself :) Will visit this place again, definitely.
J. T.
We were very lucky to get a table here when we visited our son. The food was absolutely gorgeous, service was brilliant and every meal (there were four of us) was perfect. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely go again as soon as were able.
v. y.
It’s ok. But to be honest burger and Lobster I feeling better. The scallop is really good. But the lobster it’s taste like rubber.
a. m.
Lovely restaurant highly recommended be aware it is popular so may need to book or wait for a table but it's well worth it.
M. K.
Great oysters, however, we got the seafood risotto and pasta and you could tell it wasn't freshly made.
J. H.
Another fantastic meal. Great fresh food and lots of choices on the menu.
J. B.
Food was very good. We had the Fried Haddock and the Seafood Platter with mashed pies. Both was very tasty. A little "but" was the service, which was not unfriendly but not very prenent or espacially welcoming.
G. L.
It is always a pleasure to eat in this restaurant because of the high quality of the food; the speed of the service; and the friendliness of the staff. My only criticism of the cooked breakfast is that the baked beans are not the best and perhaps there should be a choice between smoked or unsmoked bacon.
J. M.
Had a delightful meal here yesterday with family. Very attentive staff , huge variety on the menu to choose from. All except one of us had fish and truly enjoyed dining al fresco in the sunshine.. would really recommend this special restaurant.
J. C. (. A. G.
A very busy but good fish and chip restaurant.
J. T.
Lovely Sunday afternoon - great food and friendly efficient staff - perfect for Brighton sea front
I. P.
Great place
Our first visit in Brighton and stopped by for lunch. A great diversity of food in the menu with lots of choices for everyone. Crowded with staff personnel so no need to worry about waiting.
Was there shortly after midday and was busy enough so mainly ideea is that the food, drinks and services are top quality. Clean and tidy place. Most likely will visit again.

The fish and chips was nice. My mojito was a bit bland.
K. C.
I found the male waiters are very rude...but on the contrary the female waitresses were more mild mannered...Food average..ok
A. P.
Nice place to enjoy some fresh sea food like lobster, crabs, oyster and fish and chips with amazing sea view.
D. G.
Very good all round. Staff were excellent.
E. J.
Excellent seafood platter on the seafront. Restaurant was super busy but that was to be expected on a stunning evening so close to the seafront. Food is excellent value for money and service was superb.
V. G.
Really good fish and chips for lunch, nice setting and good service
R. C.
The plaice was heaving but we still had great service, good food all served quickly and professionally
B. M.
I visited this restaurant last Friday with a friend. I had the mixed seafood salad and he had the fish pie. My salad was superb with an excellent dressing. The fish pie didn't look great, but apparently tasted delicious. The service was attentive and efficient. They were extremely tolerant of my friend's dog, which I wasn't !. I have never had a bad meal here. Even my father complimented the food ( that's the biggest compliment) when he visited last year with his brother from New Zealand. Highly recommended. Pricing very reasonable.
M.
Best fish and chips I've ever had the batter is so light if your in Brighton you need to go. Highly recommend
A. B.
Very tasty food and great service!
S. Y.
Nice dishes, nice seafood, very very nice dessert that I completely forgot to take pictures🤣🍧
A. D.
Excellent food, for starters we had deep fried calamari and prawns then we shared a main course seafood platter. All delicious. Friendly and courteous staff. Reasonable price for the quality of the food.
F.
My friend and I enjoyed a delicious fish and chip takeaway yesterday. All presented in a box with knife and fork, serviette, sachets of salt, vinegar, tomato sauce and tartare - brilliant. It was freshly cooked, not greasy and as said delicious. Would recommend as I love cod and chips at the seafront.
F. A.
They are always accommodating. Very popular with cyclists.
i. u.
One of the best fish restaurants for 'fish and chips' (& sea food) in the UK. Service is friendly, fast and efficient even for large groups, we were a party of 12 and everyone enjoyed their meals. You will not be disappointed.
X. B. H.
Risotto and sharing platters always a winner wasn't too busy as went on a Monday can get very full and noisy though
J. A. C.
Recently revisited Regency for a slap up fish and chips with my fiancé near the seafront and we were not disappointed.
We'd initially visited after a day trip a couple of years prior and we enjoyed our food and experience so much we felt we had to go again. The food was delicious and fresh with great portions and the service was speedy and attentive. Which was amazing because it was so busy! I think all of the staff should know they did a great job.
It was nice because a table behind us said they visit Regency for a seafood platter about every two years. It's a special place for many, consistently putting out high quality food and service year after year.
W. K.
Had a fantastic birthday lunch here. My one son had a kids burger which was very very tasty. Both my wife and I enjoyed our food very much. The service was very good. We'll be back for sure !!
G. L.
Great fish and chip delivery. Not sure about the other food they do
A. H.
This restaurant has been here for some years! The food is tasty and staff are friendly and efficient.
R. A.
Visited quite a few times. Service was always just ok. But we LOVE the food here! We have been ordering delivery since covid, and it’s Perfect!!! Food is still absolutely lovely on delivery, that’s our new way to enjoy it.
n. w.
It's a brasserie so come with the right expectations. Salad was oxidized shredded iceberg and dried cucumber salad with bell peppers. The waiter didn't know where the oysters came from which for a place that specializes in seafood seems important. Service was good and just the right amount of attentive. The people working there are very nice and helpful. It was clean. Great Vue and a fun place to come and have a meal with friends or a morning coffee. Has a very European feel as it is open from morning to evening. I was dissapointed by the food as i came in with seafood restaurant expectations but come in with brasserie expectations and you'll be fine. There were some mistakes with our order Soni recommend checking the waiter has everything right. It's hard with the masks on!
S. G.
Excellent place for all things fish, the only downside being that it is extremely noisy so conversation is almost impossible.
Fish however is fresh, well cooked and reasonably priced. Chips are fantastic.
l. h.
This is a great restaurant. The food is top quality and the staff are very good and serving us well. Will eat from here again.
S. L.
A great place to have fresh seafood with an amazing sea view to go with it.
C. P.
Beautiful sea food - you could see and taste how fresh the fish was - nice home made chips also - yum!......and then to top it all off, some killer profiteroles!
J. Z.
Big portion for the fried seafood platter, calamari was very tasty
S. W.
Very good food. Came out quite quickly. I had a grilled Dover sole, which you can have with either chips/salad/boiled potatoes, I took salad which was a massive portion. Very reasonably priced
B. S.
Best seafood restaurant in Brighton! Try crab salad - delicious 👍👍👍
Y. S. T.
Delicious seafood platter, would have been better if it comes with a portion of chips though. Service is excellent!
O. E.
Very nice restaurant and lovely food. Will definitely use again.
E. R.
Lovely atmosphere and food. Staff were also really friendly. The only issue was that even though we had booked a table, there wasn't actually one reserved for us. Although we didn't have to wait long, we saw people queuing up even though they had booked, and were having to wait 30-45 mins for a table.
S. G.
Very good quality food and friendly staff.
J. V.
Wonderful fish restaurant. Prompt friendly service. Brought an umbrella out when it started to rain. All with a laugh and a smile. Fish excellently cooked. Reasonable price. A must visit in Brighton
K. M.
Nice place and great fush menu. Gorgeus Brighton seaside view.
K.
Amazing seafood restaurant. Reasonably priced, great service and friendly staff.
O. K.
I enjoyed sitting outside. The kids menu was good. The calamari was fresh. Cold draft cider. Only negative was the salmon with lemon and dill, didn’t taste of either but everything else we ordered was nice. Would go again and order something else. Service is mostly average.
J.
Really good especially for children as you book in just like you do at airport including metal detector gate ! Views amazing but go on a sunny day ! Seats available and refreshments and toilet on board staff brilliant and good gift shop
L. S.
Amazing food , friendly polite staff, brilliant atmosphere
S. B.
The food was lovely especially the fish and chips.
R. F.
Brilliant food. Delicious! Superb experience. Love the fish and chips which is cooked perfectly.... The pan fried escalopes and calamari are delicious as is the sea food spaghetti! I recommend The Regency to everyone. Its been tested by time and it's standards and food say it all. Good prices too. They even do traditional puddings like spotted Richard, and also milk shakes. Superb!
Y. S.
The food is fresh and delicious! This is my second time here, and would definitely come back again when I visit Brighton
R. M.
Lovely veggie breakfast, with fried bread...Mmmmm!!!!
H. E.
Awesome fish restaurant and really friendly even though massively busy. I had an aweful experience on the street fish & chips wise .. this place renewed my love of British fish and chips again
J. J.
A great evening out with excellent food.
D. P.
Lovely fish and chips in great surroundings and reasonably priced. Service is very quick, love this place.
S.
The prawns are good if they are shell on, if they are shell off then I'm sure they're from a packet.
Scallops are great though but the lobster Thermidor isn't very good.
A. W.
Really lovely cafe, brilliant breakfast menu, good prices.
Clean, pleasant and food turned up quickly.
V. M.
Lovely location with up-close sea view, but cramped premises with hard chairs! Very flexible and accommodating staff. Great service.
The fried fish was to die for, but the chips were bland and a bit hard, and definitely need more work. Desserts OK but nothing spectacular.
I would definitely be back regularly if the chips and the choice of desserts were improved, but this is not yet the best fish and chip restaurant in Brighton!
And a re-vamp of the dessert menu would certainly help. The range needs expanding. The quality is OK.
T. “. W.
Absolutely loved it! From the atmosphere, the food, the service, faultless!
S. M.
We love coming to the Regency. The fish is divine and always fresh. It's got such a lovely atmosphere. We come to Brighton just to eat here.
I. F.
Had visited Brighton a number of times but never used this restaurant until last week. i wish I had visited before as the food was excellent and the service was first class. Will definitely be calling in again when next in Brighton.
K. C.
A Brighton institution! The best Fish and chips on the seafront, excellent prompt service together with an extensive menu. Never been disappointed here on many occasions
J. C.
Fantastic. Lovely food and great service.
G.
Great sea food, ample of drink options super efficient staff, great location, fantastic views.

I went on a busy Saturday evening had to queue as not booked but well worth it. Food was delicious, and reasonably priced. service excellent lots of banter, cannot wait to go again.
C. T.
We have been celebrating my 32 birthday here the 12th August. Beautiful restaurant, great food and the staff is lovely, restaurant was super busy but still we have been looked after! Thank you!!!
N. G.
Excellent, some of the best seafood I've had in a long time, not too expensive, the fish is fresh and full of flavour, chips are perfect, and to finish off I had the best strawberry cheesecake I have ever eaten, (and I've had alot of cheesecake) service is excellent and the vibe is really good, very well decorated, probably one of the best restaurants on the street. Definitely recommend coming here as you won't regret it.
D. F.
Excellent food, sightly poor service. The food didn't all arrive together, they forgot one of our sides, and they forgot our wine. Friendly staff, sightly crowded/cramped inside. Our party of 4 struggled to fit comfortably on the table they provided for us, it would have been more suitable for 2 or 3 people. Reasonably priced menu.
L. C.
Very tasty seafood , not expensive ,quite a busy place
L. C.
Great, straightforward cafe /restaurant opposite the seafront. Friendly staff, very reasonable pricing for the 3 of us having brekkies (we've been twice in 2 days). Saw oysters being served which looked a real treat. Def recommend.
C. E.
Best seafood in Brighton hands down.
A. R.
Iconic restaurant in Brighton, but has really kept up with the times as well. Seafood mostly great, but some use of frozen or tired shrimp was a miss
P. L.
We came too early for lunch, so we ordered drinks from breakfast menu and were expecting to wait for quite a long time. Yet they were really kind to provide lunch dishes soon especially for us before normal serving time.
And the quality and quantity were both impressive. Really surprised when I saw the huge plate with almost a whole fish w/ sidedishes.
Would definitely visit again.
C.
Excellent food. My mussels spaghetti delicious as you can judge from my photo
C. C.
Great range of fresh fish done simply but well. Lively venue with great staff. Can't go wrong! Thanks for a great evening.
Y. N.
Hands down Best Seafood Restaurant with the best view in Brighton.

Very welcoming host, a hint of organised chaos but all the more endearing for it. Good menu with lots of seafood at a reasonable price, wine selection also not overpriced for the location.

The regency is the best. The food is always really really good and the value is out of this world. Its not a chain, the staff are happy, they've all been there for years. Most places all the staff are they're for a few months at most, this lot are there forever. Don't bother with the salt room don't bother with riddle and Finns just go here. It is the best. Before covid I'd be dead quiet about this place but this place must survive. It must. Its real, its art, its food, its life.

Me and my Girlfriend went for our 1st year and the food was amazing. It was lively but also very chilled. Our scallops starter was just delicious, I had the lobster thermidore and she had deep fried seafood platter and we loved every bite. We would 100% go back and also the staff were very friendly.

Friendly service with a smile. Quick service. Only waited 5 minutes for main meal. Very busy but atmospheric. No covid checks ie, check in on nhs app, no masks walking in. Food was excellent. Would visit again.

As the place is rather busy I would excuse the fact the service wasn't exactly sterling. But that aside, great restaurant !! It has a nice seaside feel to it with a variety of local and tourist guest and chilled decor. The food was excellent, starting with a very nice creamy seafood soup, tzatziki was light and tasty. Then we had the shellfish platter and a mixed fish platter... both ( and particularly the fish platter) were excellent with nice varieties and the tastes great and the food itself light not at all greasy

Absolutely yummy and perfect service!!!!
I didn’t get any pictures of the food because I jumped on it as soon as it got to us!

Really great fish and chips! Might not be the cheapest around but well worth it!

Best fish restaurant in Brighton. Lovely shellfish and great to have the option to have grilled fish and not deep fried. Love this place and go everytime we go to Brighton.
Staff are friendly.
No complaints at all.

We’ve been coming here for years and have to say it’s the best fish and chip / seafood restaurant in Brighton. Great selection of seafood, the grilled scallops especially are lovely.
Always busy, especially when the sun is out! so make a reservation but they usually try and fit you in as quickly as possible.
Service is usually very good, and the food is out quite promptly.

The service was fast, and we ordered 2 mains of calamari and chips. The calamari were so soft and tender, and the serving size was huge. Very enjoyable, and didn't even eat dinner, we were both so full. Lovely.

This seafood restaurant is consistently good. Always busy, so the food is fresh and a great choice of fresh seafood as well as other dishes who are not so keen on fish.
What I like so much about this restaurant is that every time I go there, the food is always excellent. There are many restaurants in Brighton & Hove that do not have this persistently high standard of food on a consistent basis.
Regarding prices, they are reasonable for the quality and I can highly recommend this restaurant as one of the best in Brighton. Right opposite the i360 on the seafront.

Situated with the sea right on the sea side the outdoor tables are definitely the best place to sit on a sunny day. We were welcomed by a very friendly host and our order was taken promptly.
When our fish and chips arrived they were pretty good. Not the best I've had in my life chips wise but the fish was fresh and the batter wasn't greasy which is always nice. I haven't tried other fish and chip shops in the area but the food was okay and a decent price. It is clearly favoured by celebs however as their photos hang from the walls.
The service was pretty good and I did enjoy my dinner. Would I go back? Probably not. The chips are important and I'm hopeful that there are better places on the seafront.

The service is fantastic. The fish is excellent and the rest is very very average. Prices great. They advised us when we over ordered for the kids and they also advised to move my coat because it was at risk of being stepped on. The cod and chips I had - cod: excellent chips: very average. So well worth a visit on the sea food front, for everything else go somewhere else.

Always delicious well priced food. I love the Skate Wing.

Ive been here so many times and always order the same thing. The seafood platter (hot). Its absolutely stunning. The pastas are great too. Sometimes better to reserve because they are busy all the time. Definitely come here if you are in Brighton.

We were a group of 7 adults + 1 baby. Had to squeeze between tables to sit down - had booked in advance. Despite being very busy the service was great and food delicious. Everyone in our party was satisfied with their dishes. Good value for money. Would definitely recommend and go there again.

I was taken back by this place, the level of service was incredible. It didn't take long to see all the staff were very close friends, making it such a pleasure to eat there. Seeing the close bond they shared was nice.
Oh boy, the food was truly outstanding, it was on a different level, very delicious. They are very generous on the amount of food they give you. You certainly will not leave feeling hungry. I couldn't eat it all. :-)
I can't recommend this restaurant enough. You NEED to go there!!! :-)
The staff are 110% customer focused. I really can't praise the staff enough.

The oysters were PERFECT! The scallops TOO!!!!!!!

I made the 1st of many visits here as a small child over 60 years ago. Nothing has changed much. The place looks the same and the menu pretty similar. You can have breakfast, a cheap meal such as basic fish and chips or a pasta. You can also push the boat out and have oysters, lobster and shell fish platters. All fresh, good portions, well cooked, and served by friendly and efficient staff at reasonable prices. If you can bag an outside table it's one of the best places to watch Brighton go by. I can imagine The Regency being there for many more decades.

Love the place in front on the sea in Brighton! We were there in March and it was so good that we decided to come back on summertime... But the second experience wasn't so great. Good, but not great. The fish is fresh, and the pasta soooo good. Even the staff is always nice. But when it get too busy, the quality loses a bit. But definitely I will come back.. not expansive at all.

Firstly I have to say the staff are amazing. Very attentive, polite and accommodating.
The food was average. The mixed grill was average to poor, the Bream was OK but the potatoes very poor, like tinned potatoes and very watery. We did complain and they were replaced with better quality - the first lot were white, but the replacements were a more buttery yellow colour.
The price was expensive for the quality, but the location, right on the sea front probably explains this.
If you were going to a seaside town on holiday you might go in after a day on the pier or the beach, but for the same money as a meal at Miller and Carter, you wouldnt go twice. And don't bring a date here unless your 15, or you don't fancy a second date. The tables lost their varnish a few years ago, and the (impressive) photos of yesterday's stars visiting many yesterday's ago are a testerment to faded glory.
Excellent staff, poor to middling food, nice location, aging decor.

Recommend seafood risotto and plaice meunière

Food is decent with some dishes that looked like being cooked from frozen and service a bit off par. We felt a bit like we were in a factory. Our drinks were wrong also.

We ate here for dinner on a Thursday early evening. The place was not busy when we arrived but quickly became full. People were seated without a wait.
We ordered the fried cod and calamari which came out in about 10 minutes and was perfectly cooked. Crisp on the outside and hot on the inside.
For dessert we ordered the creme brulee and the rhubarb crumble with custard. Both were out quick and tasted great.
I recommend this place for fried sea food and dessert.

Great service and good value food. Excellent location and was lucky enough to get an outdoor table for breakfast on a very warm morning.

The regency restaurant lives up to its name. We've been here a few times when living in Brighton and when visiting because we have to go back. I've asked many times how they get their fish and chip batter so crispy. I find it's the best I've ever had. The chips were not crispy this time as I remember however the other dishes in our party were faultless.
There is a range of seafood dishes which when sat on Brighton promenade is fantastic. The history of the building and interior space means you could sit there all afternoon with plenty of white wine and never want to leave!
The staff are so friendly you want them to sit down and join you- nothing is too much trouble at all. Two of them carried our heavy pushchair all the way through to the back room. There is also baby changing in both the male and female toilets which is a rarity.
They have been here many many years and will be here for many more.

Ate here tonight. Very busy. Food fantastic.
Staff seemed bit abrupt but chatted at end of our meal...short staffed.
Difficult times everywhere.

Best seafood in brighton 10 out of 10

The food was OK here, fish and chips seemed fresh, fair sized portion, but the whitebait was very average (guessing frozen) and the moules were rubbery. There was a lot of noise coming from the kitchen in terms of staff shouting at each other, maybe it's the Regency way!
S.
Very fresh food! Especially oysters 👍🏻
H. B.
I've been here once. The staff are great, really helpful and friendly. The menu is also good, however, mine and my Mum's fish was a bit dry, as a mainly fish restaurant, I didn't expect that. It was still edible but I would pick something different next time I think.

We visited here after being recommended and were so happy we did. The Dover sole was the best I’ve ever had and the haddock was delicious too. Staff are so friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this place oldest and best. Everything was good in here.
D.
If you like fish or good food to eat I will recommend this place. Fabulous
J. C.
Pretty good fish and chips but considering the price I would have expected Heinz ketchup not catering ketchup with added vinegar!
H. B.
Lovely place, good food and great staff. I'm from south of Italy and the I have had the best sea food in the UK . Keep it up guys🙂

Love this place, the best fish restaurant in Brighton (probably)
