Reviews of The Salt Room

Brilliant experience thanks to super friendly staff and a very forgiving chef! I'm intolerant to garlic and onions and the team did everything they could today to give me an amazing meal. The food was superb, I had the lemon sole which was cooked to perfection. My partner had the cod fillet (posh fish and chips). We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Brighton.

Would I visit again? Yes, absolutely.
The overall experience is very good, even if there are a few shortcomings
Was the food delicious? 3 of 5
There were clear differences in the quality of the food. The starters with mackerel nadaja and fish tempura were very good. The main course "Seafood Board" for two disappointed with the contents. £60 for 8 shrimps, two dozen mussels and half a hmas full of fried squid is too much. The dessert avogado was a bit disappointing as the vanilla ice cream was full of (water) ice crystals.
The wine list, on the other hand, was again very positive, with a great selection and reasonable prices
Price-performance ratio: 4 of 5
We paid £160 for a two person 3 set lunch, with wine and aperitif. Still okay.
Service style: 5 of 5
Nice, friendly, genuine friendly. Good suggestions for the wine selection.
Atmosphere: 5 of 5
Amazing settings on the veranda/terrace with views on the sea. Tables not to crowded.
Comments: The Salt Room is more about its beautiful setting on the Brighton waterfront and nice service than outstanding cooking. Nice service and good food overall, yet fairly priced food still make it a recommendation in Brighton.
A. H.
Highly recommend this place to all people who hate cold seafood dishes.
I don't understand why 80% seafood restaurants in Brighton only serve cold cooked or raw seafood on ice all year round.
It's really cold already, kinda difficult to eat freezing cold food.
All seafood dishes are nice, grilled things are little bit bitter but added charcoal flavor.
Ox cheek and 28 days dry aged rib eye are also good.
Don't forget to try their sourdough bread, seaweed butter is incredible.
Price is about £42 per person if you don't order alcohol drinks.

A great restaurant. The view is amazing as it's straight on the seafront and the old pier. The food and their cocktails are incredible. We got the seafood plater and was delicious 😋 we had reservations in advance...prices is expected for such a classy high quality restaurant.
V. T.
The most delicious seafood! The fish dishes were heavenly, full of flavour and melted in my mouth. I had the scallops to start and the barbecued cornish monkfish for my main, they were just exquisite.
The restaurant is beautiful and the staff are so lovely and helpful.
My only critique was the chocolate delice was far too salty, I love salted caramel but that was just too must salt.
B. A.
A fantastic meal, two of us shared the Turbot and the other two shared the platter. Best seafood we've tasted in the UK in ages.
Our waitress Emma was outstanding. We have dined all over the world, including Michelin starred establishments and the service we had from Emma was better than most of these places.
We WILL be returning !
Thank you :-)

We just got back after a fabulous supper at The Salt Room!
Having gone to its sister restaurant Burnt Orange last night, our hopes were very high and we didn't leave disappointed.
The ambiance was warm and welcoming, and the food was so scrumptious (particularly the oysters, ribeye and the Choux bun pudding!).
I'd like to give a particular shout-out to our waiter, Gabor, who made our evening so special! He is a natural, and every one of his recommendations was spot on. He really cared about our choices and advised us what would be the best food and wine to get to give us the best possible experience. We haven't had service like this in years! Thank you.

Another lovely meal today (june 28) and a marked improvement in speed out of the kitchen.
The tempura bites are still as good as ever!
****************
Minor touches took the edge off what could otherwise have been a fantastic lunch.
Took almost an hour and a half to get to main courses with no updates from staff
Food was slightly off the mark, over charred and not quite done but the tempura bites with tartare sauce were amazing

We came on a Sunday 19th of December for my our first anniversary and it was the first time we came to your restaurant. We had the scallops and octopus and pork belly for starter followed by a surfboard for 1 and halibut. The food was absolutely stunning ! We had macaron for pudding with a glass of Prosecco and we particularly appreciated the chocolate writing wishing us a happy anniversary. Thank you to all the team for making our day special, we will be back.
B. J.
Absolutely perfect night. Delicious food which was presented beautifully, professional and friendly service from staff who had excellent knowledge of the menu and good recommendations, great atmosphere within the restaurant. I would highly recommend The Salt Room. All four of us left feeling full and very happy after a delightful evening. Thank you.

Good seafood place and lovely staff. I enjoyed my time there drinks were delicious too

The mouthwatering Menu made it so difficult to decide what to choose..
However...
....Our waiter Francesco was attentive with an extensive knowledge of both Food and wine ,together with a warm and friendly personality, guided us through the Menu..
Each course was more delicious, then the last!! From the fresh plump mussels, to the succulent scallops!!!..
Be sure to checkout the sharing platter/catch of the Day!!!..
"THANK YOU "...To The Salt Room for an Outstanding Culinary Experience!!..

What a lovely restaurant. Nice decor, great atmosphere. The staff were helpful and friendly. We shared the surfboard and we thoroughly enjoyed it absolutely delicious, I definitely wanted more scallops. I thought the follow up email to thank us for dining with them was a nice touch as well shows they value their customers. Highly recommend dining here.
J. P.
Fabulous service today- bread, tempura fish pre starter brilliant..scallops beautiful, barbecue monkfish fantastic- Salt Room Dessert superb; pricey but worth it just once in a while …Rose Wine Italian luscious, Wiston local fruity rose sparkling by the glass worth a whirl too…
A. B.
I've been here a few times now, but it was the first time for non work related dining.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere whilst still giving that something special. Staff that care and seem passionate about service and the food. Great good. Yes, it is a little on the expensive side. However, in my view, not only is it worth it, but you're also buying into an experience that is truly special. Truly lovely. Our waiter was charismatic, attentive without being over bearing, knew the food well, made personal recommendations. Made sure things we handled, sometimes without us evening asking or seeing, and was intrinsic to our experience. The good was excellent and creative.
We both left with a smile on our faces.
A. G.
Incredible food, fantastic service, perfect sea views. They really went all out to make our special occasion all the more special! Very impressive all round.
Cannot wait to come back! Can highly recommend the crispy fish starter and the Surfboard is a seafood lovers dream come true. Thank you Salt Room - keep up your amazing work. Highly appreciated.

We decided to have a late lunch/early dinner at The Salt Room. It’s our favourite restaurant and if my husband had his way we would eat here every time we went out.
The terrine starter was delicious, I wish I’d ordered it for myself but I had octopus. We both had fish for mains - monkfish and halibut. My monkfish with butter beans was perfection and the tender stem broccoli with garlic and chilli, we could have eaten it twice it was so good. The eclair and Mille-feuille with accompanying desert wines were the perfect ending. This was at the end of Aug/early Sept, which means we are due to go back very soon. We really can’t fault this place and the service was exceptional.
T. C.
Wow superb seafood. wish we had booked another day to try some other menu items. Great kids menu also
S. L.
We had my mum’s 80th birthday at the restaurant on Friday and it was wonderful! The food was impeccable, all the dietary requirements were carefully looked after, the service was perfect, the team were great and we have to thank you for making her birthday such a special occasion Thank you!
R. L.
Food was extremely good. The fries surprised us given that it was merely a side but was extremely well done. Seafood was fresh. Other dishes which were not seafood were also cooked very well by balancing the flavours and the elements of each minor component. Service was great and with a little bit more effort in each minor details, the restaurant is in a good direction.
M. a. Y.
I was recommended this restaurant by a friend and had high expectations which were exceeded above and beyond. I had an excellent time here with the love of my life. All the staff were excellent, but especially Francesco, who was attentive, thoughtful and considerate. We had the Sea Bass which was superb and the oysters which were a delight.
M. M.
Absolutely sublime cuisine in a beautiful restaurant with frontline views of the sea. Incredible attentive service, outstanding food and a great range of drinks to complement.
Start with the small fish tempura and all of the market specials are brilliant. We had the Brill which came with garlic potatoes and a generous tomato and pepper salad but also ordered the incredible green bean salad, which was perfect.
Finishing with the Salt Room sweet treat platter was the perfect ending to a wonderful evening.
We thought the price and portions were good for the quality of the restaurant and prime position.
S. P.
The grilled octopus 🐙 and the scallops are divine, the waitress said they slow cooked the octopus for 8 hours no wonder why it's so tender! The seafood platter is ok as both the portion and the size of mussels/prawns are a bit smaller than I expected. Macaroons as dessert are very nice.
M. E.
A big 5 stars for The Salt Room. The food was fantastic and well worth the price. Our waiter Luca made our night, it was a pleasure to be served by him. Their attention to detail was outstanding even remembering that my husband could not eat almonds when serving desert by changing an almond cake for a chocolate truffle. A big thank you to all. When in Brighton please visit this wonderful restaurant
S. P.
First time visiting here and we will definitely be back. The food was exceptional (the lemon sole was to die for!) and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable about wine pairings for the food. The "little fish" that turned out to be goujons and not whitebait were a surprise but very tasty nonetheless. We appreciated the little touch of receiving a chocolate truffle each at the end of our meal as an anniversary gift. We definitely recommend The Salt Room for any special occasion.
O. M.
Lovely place, delicious seafood.
The chef really knows how to cook and what to season each seafood differently. The sides that come with the main dishes are very harmonic and tasty.
Good vibe and friendly staff. Can gets a bit busy at night, but still a good place to go.
A. W.
Epic epic epic. Gorgeous inside, attentive and friendly staff, amazing views and the food was sensational. Great value but worth the price at the same time.

Perfectly sized menu with lots of interesting dishes. Everything we ordered were delicious and perfectly cooked. The best selection of desserts I've seen in ages. Staff were really friendly, genuine and attentive. Nicely designed interiors, will definitely be returning and recommend to all.
S. H.
The food was absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and you can tell they use really fresh ingredients, it comes through in the flavour. The tastiest seafood and fish I've had in a long time. Staff were very helpful, helping us navigate through the menu, and the cocktails are amazing.
L. C. (. P.
The original flavor of the food is preserved. Not surprising but pretty good!
S.
Good, but didn't exceed expectations. Great staff and venue right along the coast - a fairly average steak, but excellent fresh seafood.
Not overly impressed but I would recommend to anyone who loves shellfish 👍🏽
J. M.
We were fortunate enough to have a beautifully warm evening and sat outside. There was a slight kerfuffle with regards to a drunk couple who were sitting near us. They were incredibly abusive to the staff. This did not affect us and we felt sorry for the hard working team. The staff could not have looked after us better and were terribly apologetic for something that was not even their fault. I would say the outstanding service made our night as well as my special birthday. Wonderful evening. Thanks 😊
H. M.
As always The Salt Room was amazing! I shared the turbot and we also had the trout and the lemon sole. Starters were scallops, pork terrine and salmon. All were met with appreciation and there were only empty plates left. The only downside is the discontinuation of the large sweet board that included the candy floss.. bring it back please 🙏 the alternatives on the menu do not compensate. They were good but just not the same! All in all a perfect meal. Oh and the cocktails were superb!
F. E.
The food here was delicious and the service was friendly and highly attentive, just as one would expect.
The food was very flavourful, with plenty of options. Every element of the dishes we had, worked together and I thought it was all perfectly seasoned and delicious.
I’d definitely come back again.
S. P.
Well presented restaurant, the staff are welcoming and friendly offering a good level of service, the menu is relatively varied although it could be more detailed, you need to add side orders to your main dishes which does push the price up a little bit, the food is well presented and cooked exactly to order which is very much appreciated.
A good dining experience but be prepared for the price, it's not the cheapest place in Brighton, having said that it's still worth a visit.
R. P.
Incredibly lovely team whose service and attentiveness is second to none. I wrote in my booking notes that my friend and I would have two prams with us. They had prepared an entire quiet corner of the restaurant for us and were extremely lovely to us and our little children. I also came here before for my anniversary with my partner and had an equally great experience so I’d say it’s now a firm favourite.
A. B.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit, opting for the Surfboard for 2, washed down with plenty of exciting cocktails. Highly recommended, with thanks.
I. M.
Incredible food. The scallops are cooked to perfection, one of the best things I’ve eaten in a long time. We had the surfboard and was delicious, felt really fresh and the aioli was amazing.
Restaurant itself is lovely inside, great location too. Reasonably priced given the quality.
P. J.
Excellent night with attentive, helpful but at the same time relaxed service. Food was excellent and every element married well together. Thank you!
L. F.
Lovely setting with sea and wind farm as backdrop. Food delicious even though on the pricier side, it’s impeccable value for money and well worth the cocktail or two.

Before I arrived to meet a friend on 25 Feb 1pm I fell and twisted my ankle badly. Feeling faint I hobbled to Salt and found my friend. A waiter quickly brought me iced water to drink. I knew I needed to go to. A & E as I had broken the same ankle before but I wasn't going to miss lunch. The waiters were exceptional, tall slim chap with blond beard and curled moustache and and another guy with short brown hair and full beard, young and French 😊 They were very attentive and physically helped me outside where a taxi was waiting. Our oysters, turbot and sweets were divine. Thanks all. Highly recommend. Ankle not broken. Will take a few weeks to mend x

I visited for my birthday yesterday and our waitor Gabor was so lovely. Unfortunately I wasn't feeling well and could only eat a small amount, so we had to leave earlier than expected. I had a beautiful plate with 'Happy Birthday' crafted in icing and a gluten and dairy free macaroon. My husband had requested my food to be gluten and dairy free when he booked. Their allergy and intolerance protocol was brilliant, guiding me through all the food I could eat. I will definitely be returning one day soon!
D. C.
Enjoyed the food and service I got for my birthday visit. Staff were sharp and responsive when they realised a drink I ordered wasn't delivered. Pleasantly blown away by the rhubarb eclair too. I did find it difficult to locate the blackboard for any specials, but will ask next time!
J. F.
Exquisite local fish (Brill), deboned in front of you. Excellent service with talkative staff. The place itself has sublime atmosphere from the natural light and blue hues of the sky and sea, complimented perfectly by the soft oranges from Edison bulbs. Quintessential Brighton at its finest! ☺️ look forward to seeing you again soon
J. V.
Absolutely impeccable. The service was perfect and the food was outstanding. Cannot recommend highly enough.
L. F.
Thank you Armando for looking after us this afternoon. The service was amazing and the food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious.
S. E.
You made my husbands birthday very special.
From the time we walked in the door the staff went over and beyond making us feel special. Prawns for starter, sea bass for main course, fillet at our table by a caring server. Overall, five star all around. Thank You All For A Wonderful Time
j. p.
Looking for the best fish restaurant came across the salt room. Good service and great food.
H. G.
I booked this restaurant for my bf’s birthday. Overall is good, foods are really really delicious but yes a bit overpriced and the service is extremely slow. Recommended for special occasions
M. J. A. R.
I can understand why people would see this restaurant as overpriced and not worth the value.
Basing my experience on the food alone I wouldn't say it is worth the asking price.
5 people with 3 courses and some alcohol came to over £400.
However the food is nice and the flavours are subtle but there seems to be something missing for the asking price.
As you can see by the photos the food is beautifully presented and the staff were very accommodating giving the circumstances with face masks and social distancing.
Overall my experience was very good however I would like to see more value on my next visit.
Thank you.
D. B.
Lovely long post graduation lunch. Seaweed butter very piquant and tasty. Seafood stew creamy and velvety and sauce very moreish. Other dishes were monkfish, halibut and lemon sole which were pronounced excellent by others in party. Service attentive and friendly
H. N.
Perfect location to enjoy the sea and the i360 tower
The food was exceptional.
Staff were amazing
Next time in Brighton.....it will be my first dinner out.
R. M.
Couldn't give this place anything but 5*. Not only was the food incredible, but the service was equally as good. We were on a time limit and the staff made everything feel as though everything was in control without being rushed, and thought to bring us water before we left to catch our trains. Every single one of us was amazed at our dishes. Couldn't recommend highly enough.
P.
I'm not a big fan of seafood, but was confident they would be able to provide other high-quality alternatives. I was wrong. The steak was served with nothing else on the plate other than a small pot of watery mint sauce. (A bizarre choice to accompany a steak). No vegetables or side salad. Just a steak on a plate. There was a small bowl of underwhelming fries (not too dissimilar to McDonalds) but that was it.
The staff were attentive and friendly, but I wouldn't come here again unless you are happy with the fish options.
R. B.
Excellent food and great service. Two of our party have nut allergies, and one of these is also a vegan. The were extremely helpful and ensured that they were both well looked after
g.
Took my mum here for her birthday, was amazing. Nice sea views and good service. We had oysters and chargilled octopus to start. Cod and monkfish for mains, very strong flavours but really nice.
Nice touch at the end bringing out a birthday board with some chocolate on.
Would defo come back for a special occasion, expect to spend a fair amount especially if you're drinking. Mains around 20-25 and starters quite expensive.
Overall worth the money and pleased with everything 👍
B. H.
Exquisite meal. Absolutely worth the price. Get the Shellfish platter!
E. B.
The food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. We asked for dairy free and they bent over backwards to accommodate us. Will definitely go back.
R. P.
Easy to book on opentable. Great from start to finish arriving they seated us. Kept social distances. Waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great suggestions as to what you might like. Food tasted fantastic. Ambiance was good considering the covid issues. Highly recommend the visit, price for the food was fair. Be aware that they put a 12% discretionary service charge on.
R. S.
Good experience! The food was nice although some portions were quite small, the surfboard was definetly the star of the show! Drinks also were good but some options were not available. Friendly staff and overall good service. Recommended!
D. L.
Sublime. The food was outstanding, fresh and so tasty. Staff were knowledgeable and friendly. The right level of speed and interaction for our reservation. Will definitely return.
A. H.
Amazing service Amazing food. Sat outside with the sun shining. Every course was spectacular.
J. T.
Food was pretty good, had oysters and crab to start, and the shellfish platter for main, with the rhubarb eclair for dessert. Not cheap though!
Although not the freshest we've ever had the oysters were good and the crab was tasty. The shellfish platter was lovely - actually both the salad and fries on the side were really good as well.
Rhubarb eclair was excellent as well.
Service was friendly and did everything asked if them, but perhaps could be a bit more attentive and proactive to get to the next level - which is perhaps more along the lines of what we were expecting given the price point. However, maybe they were too busy! E.g. multiple tables around us dropped cutlery on the floor with loud clangs but noone noticed! That said, when asked they responded quickly and courteously so still decent.
Tldr, food good and service decent although you might have higher expectations at the price point.
R. O.
Lovely restaurant! Nice views of the sea front and really good food. Would recommend the market fish for two - perfectly cooked. Only down side is the noise of traffic if you sit outside but not really under the restaurant’s control!
C. M.
My friend and I had an excellent meal here on Friday. The food (fish stew, monkfish, tenderstem brocolli, fries and sourdough)were perfectly cooked. Service was speedy and not intrusive. Wine list is extensive. Atmosphere was buzzy. The staff were all polite, friendly and welcoming. Will be back!
P. B.
Had to ask the waiter to close door, it was cold. The fish platter for 2 was a disappointment. Had a voucher which included wine. When Bill arrived they tried to charge us for wine. Expected a more quality service!!!
S.
Great time. Lovely location sat out the front in the early evening sunshine. Good food and good service. Ended up enjoying a 3 hour meal without realising. The charred scallops took the prize. And never a dull moment watching the random of Brighton making their way by.
S. C.
Fantastic food - superb staff and all in a brilliant location. Amazing for seafood and steaks. Been many times - always great !
N. C.
Impressed! We enjoyed The Salt Room, it had a great atmosphere with several large tables in at the same time as us. It's a fairly spacious restaurant so we were able to chat easily, it was not too loud. The food was great, with a good selection on the menu, I opted for mackeral with beetroot wasabi and cucumber as a starter, a light dish that packed flavour. And had the roasted cod for my main dish which again was spot on, perfectly cooked fish. For dessert we shared a real treat, taste of the pier with candyfloss and a selection of sweet treats. We also had some excellent G&T's to drink here! Thanks to the staff in the kitchen and the friendly waiting staff, we had a great time.
A. W.
Lovely setting, friendly staff and delicious food! Not the cheapest and the portions are quite small but this is more than made up for by the taste and quality! Very much recommended.....
K. C.
Really enjoyed the dining experience and the staff were great, but the menus on the site were outdated which meant the set meal was not available, and it made it more difficult for our party member with dietary restrictions who had fewer choices than expected.
C. H.
We had the most amazing meal. I could not fault anything. The staff were amazing, the food was perfect. Just wanted to stay forever.
L. B.
Loved it, great food and great service! Still just as good, five years later! Outstanding food and service.
J. C.
Lovely lunchtime meal. I had the seafood platter which I requested off menu as it was offered as sharing platter. The prawns, mussels, clams, oysters and squid were perfectly cooked and seasoned.
My husband wasn't in the mood for fish (I know, not ideal for a fish restaurant!) but I had been wanting some quality shellfish for a while so he chose steak. We thought you can't really go wrong with steam, add long as it is cooked properly (medium rare in our case). However it was a terribly fatty piece that was difficult to eat. We complained and it was removed from our bill, so that made up for it.
Toddler had fish and chips child meal which is complementary with an adult meal. The fish was lovely, the chips were nice but peas would have been a better option for a child. The kale was left untouched.
We shared a bowl of salad, which in our opinion had too much seasoning and we're not a fan of salt on salad, especially when eating it with salted chips and sharing it with a child.
I had a lovely fresh lemonade which had cucumber and mint, it was perfect for a warm day and very refreshing.
The staff were very friendly and gave our child a lot of attention, which she enjoyed. The restaurant is well laid out and we could see the food being served from the hatch. The WC was nicely designed but had run out of handwash and low on toilet roll, which considering it was a relatively quiet lunchtime was surprising.
Overall a lovely meal and we would recommend it for a special occasion.
G. T.
Went there for my partner's birthday and it felt very much like a special occasion. The food was very well presented and very much fine dining. The desserts are as visualy impressive as they are delicious. Downside ... Small portions and the area we were sat was too bright but that's just not picking. A great place for a social meal.
A. H.
Absolutely amazing we have been spoilt by finding this little gem I think it's the best seafood around will defo be back!!!!!
Z. R.
Our waitress was Gabor and let me tell you he made our night very very special, he gave is the best recommendations and I’m soo happy he served us! Gabor thank you so much you did an amazing job they restaurant is very lucky to have you!! 30 out of 10 service!!
R. N.
Sensational seafood in a great location, affording a pretty view of the West Pier. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating of our baby who joined us for lunch.
A. A.
Finally got around to trying the Salt Room and was not disappointed. We were luck enough to have gone a beautiful night and sat out on the patio, boy what a view. We got an order of their bread which came with a garlic mayo and seaweed butter, both were fantastic. I had the monk fish which came with a pork fried ball, almost like a croquette. During the meal we saw these huge desserts being brought out of mass that had candy floss so had to try that (Taste of the Pier). What an extra dessert!! omg everything was amazing! All things aside the drinks menu was basic and there wasn't a lot of options if you didn't like fish. Wouldn't hesitate recommending but not sure it makes my top 5 list.
F. B.
An amazing Friday night out our bffs who raved about it and we finally made a booking. Atmosphere was great. Drinks at bar really nice and the food was to die for. It lived up to expectations and will definitely be going back there again and again. And the staff were brilliant. Make sure to book in advance.
R. W.
We had an amazing long lunch at The Salt Room. The service was swift and friendly - the cuttlefish starter was super impressive and highly recommend the dessert tasting platter - the staff provided a chocolate 'happy birthday' plate for our friend, which was a nice touch. It was a beautiful sunny day so it would have been fabulous to be able to sit on the verandah but it was closed (not sure if it opens on hot days usually?).
P. L.
Fresh seafood (mussel and sea bass are great). The lobster was small but taste good with garlic butter. The iced coffee is a surprise! I didn’t expect their iced coffee would be that good!
O.
Loud and noisy. Hard to hear much and while the staff where nice they were a bit all around, running around with orders and a lot seemed off.
Recommend for big groups who are going out big. But for the rest there might be something better.
S. B.
Decent food but there is definitely better out there. For Brighton it’s 5 stars. main course lemon sole quite nice. The chips were off the hook and the dessert, I think was called taste of the pier was very cool concept for my birthday. They forgot the candle but no biggie.
s. C.
The salt room has got to be one of the best restaurants in Brighton at the moment. The décor is brilliantly put together, the staff were amazing and the food was delicious. It's certainly not a cheap option but in a world where you get what you pay for it's definitely worth splashing out a bit more to enjoy this beautiful location.
J. B.
a few things influenced my rating. First of all, arrived three minutes before my reservation told table not ready. Given an alternative which I wasn't happy with, they did move us but why give us a poor alternative? White wine was served warm. Had The scallops as a starter which were very much over seasoned, you can see the massive bowl of salt in the kitchen which they liberally put on everything. the monkfish which was well executed, but had a funny tummy the next day. I don't have a sensitive stomach. Freshness of the fish or was it just the way it was prepared? On the positive, service was very good social distancing fine but given the prices they charge I think the rating is fair.
w.
The sister location of the coal shed. Similarly great food here and great location by the sea. Shame about the traffic but a late night romantic dinner fits well here. Would be 5 star but the food is expensive for what you get. Great tasting and expertly cooked but the quantity could be a little better. Overall would highly recommend as long as your party likes seafood and doesnt mind spending quite a bit.

Was for the first time here and honestly everything was amazing. The service and the food were excellent. Totally recommend to everyone!
L. G. B.
This place blew my mind! I came in expecting meh but left feeling JUBILANT! Every single member of the staff were absolutely fantastic, but the star of the show was GREG our server who was out of this world! he recommended (but never pressured) the most amazing white wine to be paired with our amazingly cut and perfectly deboned John Dory fish main for two. His deboning skills are the bomb, I've seen servers at the Savoy do more poorly. The fishwas fresh and amazingly cooked, the most delicate fish paired with a great spicy samphire cooked to taste like kimchi . Honestly, the service here was better than any restaurant that I've had in London, New York, Barcelona, Zurich. By all means, please give this place a visit!!!!

Great food! very creative dishes, fresh seafood influenced with light asian ingredients command this seasonal British menus. A little overpriced thought but liked the venue and also knowledgeable, friendly service. Lovely place and would recommend for a little treat between friend/family or even on a date! Desserts were original and worth trying too, specially the mixed platter for two named "tastes of the pier"themed after Brighton s pier! A lovely way to end a local meal.
B. L.
Had a great time there. Excellent service. We really enjoyed the chargrilled sea bass for two. Unfortunately it was too cold to enjoy the outside terrace. Great deal for kids. A key celebration was the cotton candy at the end.
N. S.
At first seems a tourist trap but when inside you immediately realize that this it's not. Professional yet friendly service, fresh products, typical British food though the muscles dish was no less than brilliant. My negroni was ok and the wine list seemed pretty ok. I skipped dessert this time...

Lovely staff, accommodated us with a quiet table and dishes came out relatively quickly. The restaurant has a great modern atmosphere but this might feel a little pretentious to some who might come in expecting a more homely experience. All that said, for what you get, in terms of food and experience, at that location, the higher prices are worth it.
A. v. P.
The service was really good and thoughtful. The food was amazing. The fish was tasty and perfectly cooked. The sides were all nice- we tried them all we know. And the taste of Brighton desert was a star.
S. L.
We had a wonderful evening, lovely table, excellent food and service was perfect. We hope to return before too long
M.
Weather was cold and rainy so we had a table inside. When we sat, we had the sugar and spice cocktail which was excellent. The menu is mainly fish but some very interesting courses. We had salmon ceviche and scallops to start followed by the surfboard to share. The food was perfect as was the service. We each had a chocolate truffle and coffee to end the meal. We will go back, only wish that we had been to this restaurant before.
U. M.
Highly recommended ! The stuff is so kind, excellent service, food is amazing, every plate was delicious. Great view . We enjoyed so much .
W. C.
One of the best sea food platter ever had with special roasting techniques. Thanks to Oliver the manager and Dave the chef.
Sea trout with apple has the simple but most sophisticated taste.
L. M.
We’ve eaten at Salt Room a few times and the food has always been excellent. We had an alternative Mother’s Day afternoon tea which was fantastic! Highly recommend as something a bit different and those who may don’t have such a sweet tooth. I’d recommend any of their seafood dishes. The cocktails are also a stand out and must order whole you’re there. The staff are friendly and attentive and help make an enjoyable evening out.
A. B.
We held our wedding reception here and it was perfect in every way. The food was spectacular and the staff were all so helpful, thoughtful and efficient, making sure everything ran smoothly
J. C.
Had lunch there today. Great ambience, super friendly and flirty service, and super delicious seafood. Everyone at my table really enjoyed it. Definitely one of the best in Brighton and I will be back. Well done guys.
N. W.
We had the most amazingly delicious meal here, service was fantastic and would definitely go again
L. B.
My new favourite restaurant. The staff were lovely and the food sublime. Perfect!
P. J.
Great restaurant. This was booked for a birthday dinner. The food was really tasty. We had the duck croquettes from the specials board to start followed by the shellfish surfboard as a sharing main. Plenty of food, all beautifully cooked. The service was great and the staff were all really helpful. It was busy on a Wednesday night but didn't feel like the tables were on top of each other. I would recommend it if you are looking for a good Seaford restaurant in Brighton.
M. H.
On the expensive side but you get what you pay for. Nice venue, excellent fresh seafood, good wine list and attentive service. Will definitely return!
I. R.
The staff from the start until the end were very welcoming and fun! Jane, our host, checked on us throughout the evening and our waitress was so attentive and made our night even more special! Loved the coconut margaritas! Amazing food, quality ingredients! Def coming back soon!
S. I.
Awesome ambience and definitely a more upscale style restaurant for the area. The food was decent, but ordered a steak and the restaurant seemed more to caterer towards fish or fish type dishes. They all looked delicious. For my steak it was very fatty which for some may be preferred but for me was a bit too fatty. It did have a very good taste though and would likely try the place again with a different dish. On a final note the deserts were pretty limited.
K. G.
Excellent service, delicious seafood, wonderful setting. We indulged with oysters, THE best cod fritters, the surfboard and the monkfish on the grill
K. J.
Very friendly staff, from reception to table waiter, yummy sea food, great location, and a heart warming surprising desert
A. L.
A bit pricey but so nice and tasty and great/friendly service. Loved the wine list. Defi Italy recommend the malvasia
D. S.
Faultless experience once again. Considerate staff, incredible food, nice selection of cocktails and a great atmosphere (Sunday PM). See you again soon!
J. C. (. A. G.
From the outside you would have no idea how excellent this restaurant is. Faultless service , fabulous varied menu whether you want fish, meat or veggie , and delicious food.
M. R.
Had a wonderful dinner. Staff was great and the food was delicious. Everyone was having a brilliant spring evening
T. O.
Exceeded expectations!!! Big lover of the Coal Shed and knew this place was is the Sister Act but but due to 1 thing or another I hadn't visited till now.
A.
Best fish restaurant the food, wine and desserts were incredible we had a special which was Sussex brill and the sashimi tuna and scallops everts was absolutely magical thanks.
G. L.
Just divine! Excellent service and the food was outstanding. I definitely recommend the scallops and the Sunday special roast. 5/5
J. Y.
The Salt Room service was impressive! Good food of course, but the cherry on top is the lovely service all round. Busy restaurant - we had the cod and salt-baked whole bream which were both delicious.
K. D.
Absolutely incredible... The food is out of this world. Fresh seafood cooked to perfection and staff so helpful. Love love love this place
E. T.
We went here for dinner based on the many good reviews but we were a bit disappointed. The restaurant was nice and in a great location. The staff were also very attentive and friendly. However, we struggled to find anything on the menu that really caught our eye. We ended up ordering the monkfisb special. It was good but we weren't blown away. The dessert however, was delicious. I think maybe their sister restaurant would've been more our style.
H. M.
Wow! Fabulous fish! Can't recommend this restaurant enough. Very friendly and efficient staff. Just delicious food!
V. O.
Great design, food is ok however obviously overpriced. Still don't understand why I need to pay 12,5% service fee if I'm already paying for food. Staff is very polite and knowledgeable.
O. B.
Amazing nice place to eat we found this on our way to Riddle & Finn and thought it looked better really good service and atmosphere the food was even better!! The charcoal mayo they serve with the platter is so good, will definitely be returning in the summer and I can't wait!!!
m. l.
Salt, what salt! I ordered 6 oysters which arrived plump and enticing until I tasted them! All of the salt in the liquor had been flushed out of them! Not sure why, the essence of oysters is in the salty taste, sadly missing here! My wife went for the tempura fish expecting a light batter and soft fish, instead she got deep fried fish with no taste, again a huge disappointment. Our main, the shared sea bass special was much better, it tasted of….fish! The staff were attentive and deserts ok. Most people were having the ‘fish board’ which seemed to be mostly prawns, they smelled great although at £30 pp, possibly over priced. The overall experience on a sunny afternoon was good, if you ignore the quality of the food! Need to up their game, prime location and nice staff only goes so far…
V. M.
Fabulous except that chairs are definitely a bit hard, and the Ladies' WC had hardly any paper! Really nice and competent French waiter, fabulous table with full sea view and windows flung open to let in cool breeze on this very hot day. Delay for food not too bad. Kept well stocked with ice water.
Food was very nicely cooked and presented, but the portions were much too small.
Wine, on the waiter's recommendation, was lovely. Dessert was miniscule and price high.
But it was a special occasion and we felt on leaving that it had been a great venue for that, even if we were a bit hungry on leaving. £180 for 3 people was stiff when you leave hungry though, so diners do need to watch the pricing at the Salt Room.
D. L.
Very expensive drinks, you only get an old fashioned 125ml for a small glass of wine. Also very slow service.
D. G.
Absolutely amazing food and service, will definitely return when we visit Brighton again, food was incredible
B. S.
Lovely atmosphere, great service and the food was well presented and delicious. Highly recommended
W. G.
A really solid meal all round. The food is of really good quality, isn't too over cooked and pretentious, but is fancier than your average fish restaurant. The wine list is well rounded and reasonably priced, and the staff and atmosphere is friendly and easy going.
The fish tempura and monkfish were particularly good.
M. K.
My Girlfriend and I traveled from London, to Celebrate NYE at THE SALT ROOM, and it was a wonderful Evening, the Welcome, the service, the cuisine, and the live music and atmosphere was just perfect.
THANK YOU SALT ROOM TEAM, for a great Evening.
Highly recommended.
D. G.
Food was superb, lovely to sit with views of the sea. Service and the whole experience was excellent, thank you.
M. H.
Great friendly atmosphere, with amazingly attentive staff. The food was fresh and well prepared surprisingly quick to the tables.
A must visit just a stone throw to the beach.
H. T.
I loved this place, it is set right on the sea front so you can enjoy a great view whilst eating fresh seafood. We were greedy and went for the seafood platter which did not disappoint. Will definitely be back!
E. W.
Wow, awsome! The food and service were first class. We were worried it would be a bit too posh for us but actually was very relaxing and welcoming, felt very comfortable. Thank you all xx
S. M.
Wonderful food though wasn't entirely blown away by the Main. Would still visit again though! Staff were lovely and enjoyed the experience
K. H.
Absolutely delicious food, top top service from friendly staff and a beautifully designed venue. Love ❤️
G. J.
Having eaten in restaurants all over Europe and North America, including a good few Michelin stars, I had the best fish dish I've ever tasted in the Salt Room. Not cheap but well worth the price. My first visit of plenty more to come.
K. K.
Absolutely fantastic! Device was impeccable and the food was all served piping hot despite it being a cold day. We had a sea front view and was offered blankets and the option by our waiter Luca to turn on the overhead heater. All in all a wonderful way to spend my birthday.
J. S.
OMG. The best did I have ever eaten. The kindest staff. We went there after converting our civil partnership to a marriage and they were so attentive. I strongly recommend the hake.
Z. A.
Lovely place, the food and dessert were amazing. Definitely recommend it
A. F.
Expensive but not so tasty. Good atmosphere but poor hygiene. The floor is so oily you can moonwalk like Michael Jackson.
C. L.
Amazing food (if you like seafood) and great location...the seafood platter was insane! Waiter was super knowledgable and friendly! Had a great lunch...if ever in Brighton again will be back for sure!
s. p.
Fabulous birthday meal at The Salt Room. Service (from Francesco) was fantastic, the food was delicious and we had an amazing dinner. Shame the terrace is not open currently, but everything else was immaculate. The seafood was exquisite! Thank you
C. W. V. H.
Delicious well flavoured dishes. Superb cheffing.
D. D.
Perfect setting, perfect staff, perfect food. A memorable dining experience, something to be savoured.
A. G.
A classy upscale restaurant with faultless service and fine food. £££
N.
Fresh and nice tasting seafood. Though the price was too hugh for what you get. Very small portion.
H. S.
Overall this was a good experience, my sea bass was absolutely beautiful but unfortunately they went a bit overboard with their seasoning on my sides and cocktail.......a hint of smoky bonfire would have been delightful but unfortunately it was more like they threw the whole bonfire at it
K. G.
Went back tonight for second time (for my husband's birthday again!) and cannot believe it took us this long as honestly it was as good - if not better - than the first time round when we were equally impressed. It is a brilliant restaurant; seriously fantastic food and fabulous unobtrusive, helpful and intelligent service (thank you Stacey). I am vegetarian (and coeliac) and the food surpassed Terre a Terre yet again for sheer creativity, sensitivity and taste. Sean was also delighted with his fish and said its the best restaurant in Brighton. I tend to agree!
L. T.
Amazing staff and food! Sitting outside was wonderful, seeing the seafront. The shell food is the best I ever had and their wine of course! Amazing service too, felt so welcoming as well.
E. F.
Enjoyed a lovely meal here for 2. Fantastic food, great portion sizes and well priced. Everything was well-presented and of high quality. The service was attentive but not annoying. Atmosphere nice but not pretentious. Spot on. I'd highly recommend and will be returning in the future.
R. G.
Fantastic restaurant, fish was amazing, service fantastic and location is outstanding. Top class cooking and fabulous dishes, even the sides were great. Good wine menu too at a sensible price.
c. c.
Really great food, market fish was top draw, great cocktails and very good staff. Can't ask for more. Very impressed.
Francesco was great, wine choices, food choices and great fun. A highlight to our weekend.
T. B.
The food here really is very very very good. Definitely a rare treat.
A group of 4 , we had 4 different starters and 4 different mains and all were happy with every dish ordered. The Halibut was particularly beautiful. The dessert platter thing was perhaps a slight disappointment as it seems to have been downgraded and less spectacular than some of the old photos seen on here and TripAdvisor. But still very tasty.
We sat on the outdoor terrace by the road, and it was very noisy from the cars and we were also bothered on two occasions by passing beggars leaning over the hedge and asking for spare change whilst we were eating. Additionally the overhead heaters kept turning themselves off every 10 minutes so we had to ask for them to be put back on many many times.
D. O.
Worth a visit. Great location, wonderful views of the sea. Friendly, accommodating staff. Lunch was very nice, perfectly cooked accompanied by a wonderful daiquiri. I rate this place highly and will definitely be returning as soon as possible.
D. L.
Amazing food and service. I'm a person who doesn't eat fish at all and I tried the seafood here, totally converted me to seafood now! Will be coming back while I'm on holiday here and for any future holidays will be booking a table. Worth the money you pay!
C. T.
The service was great. They didn't have classic champagne cocktail but bar staff was happy to make for our annivesary. You must try the oysters!!!
P. W.
Delicious food, staff attentive. Good all round experience.
A. B.
Had a lovely tonight scallops to start which were to die for. Followed by monkfish and my hubbie had hake both of us were very happy. Had 2 different desserts which we shared. Everything was great apart from the weather so we had to eat indoors rather than on the terrace. Nice atmosphere indoors and our lovely waitress Stacey was very attentive and charming. When she learned it was my special birthday as we were paying the bill she gave us some chocs to take away with us. Will return.
D.
Fantastic food, drink and service! More expensive than your average restaurant but very well worth it.
V. V.
Absolutely amazing! Had our anniversary dinner here, and the food, staff and atmosphere was just perfect!
N. D.
Really good experience, table wasn't ready at booked time which always annoys me when you book. Food was very very good though
Will be back
R. M.
Cosy, stylish seafood restaurant. Will be visiting again to sample the surfboard.
Caught them during margherita month, extremely delicious margheritas 🍸
S. Y.
I've wanted to come for years. Came here for our anniversary. Did not disappoint. Delicious food, great service, wonderful drinks, fabulous setting. What more do you want. Thank you for a lovely evening
T. M.
I went there last Thursday and I had my socks knocked off. The food was honestly some of the best seafood I've had in a long time. Started with some oysters, followed by the Nduja mackerel then the halibut. The staff was excellent and made some great wine recommendations too. They even threw in some free truffles since it was our anniverseary. Also, my girlfriend is vegetarian and was blown away by the flavors. All too often we see people throw together a veggie option as an afterthought, and atlthough there was only one veggie option (I think), it was incredible. I'll definitely come again the next time I'm in brighton. Great for a client meal, celebrating with friends, date night, divorce dinner, whatever you like.
N. S.
The octopus starter was simply amazing. The hot seafood platter is very good. Very helpful and friendly staff
D. S.
Four of us went for lunch today. The service by all of the FOH team was impeccable. Friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and great attention to detail. I think the name of our main server was Greg who was very competent and attentive. All the food is beautifully presented and the product is of the highest quality. Unfortunately, some of the dishes didn't deliver on the flavour front. Which is a real shame. The scallops starter was dry and lacked seasoning. The burratta was also fairly dry and didn't have the typical"oozy" consistency, however the rest of the dish tasted nice. The Osyters were great though. As mains we had two monkfish which were so salty that it was close to being inedible. I had the Halibut which was a beautifully plated dish. It had all the right ingredients but unfortunately lacked any really depth of flavour...and the fish was ever so slightly over cooked. They fourth plate was a kids lunch which was lovely.
I don't want this review to be seen as a negative criticism but rather constructive feedback. This restaurant is getting so many things very very right but the food also needs to hit the mark and today it didn't. And if I spent close to £180 on lunch I expect everything to be on point.
D.
Good service on Sunday night. Enjoyable fish dishes, fairly priced wine. Underdably busy. Photo is a whole bream cooked in a salt crust.
N. T.
Outstanding! Fine dining with the fun left in.
Wonderful food and cocktails with the emphasis on clean, fresh flavour that allows the ingredients to express themselves.
Yes, would recommend.
P. H.
Food was just perfect. We were quite tipsy when we arrived and they were accommodating for my birthday celebrations. The desserts were best I've ever tasted.
J. S.
Outstanding. Couldn't fault it. Service is on point but the food. It's another level.
A. B.
Superb fish restaurant....friendly and professional service, fresh ingredients done to an excellent standard. We were there on a Tuesday evening and it was buzzing...great atmosphere! Don't miss this when you come to Brighton!
K. B.
Went here for an anniversary dinner - fantastic service, food cooked to perfection and adorable dessert. Would absolutely recommend to anyone who loves seafood and good wine.
R. K.
Lovely food really good service highly recommended 5 stars.
P. B.
I had crab in an almond gazpacho with apple and radish and it was excellent. A decent portion of crab! My wife had her usual oysters and was very happy with them. Main course of bbq monkfish was great as was my wife's hake. Both had fine accompanying veg but we did order some rather good fries. Not cheap but good value for money
H. P.
My husband & I went for lunch. The food was ok. I wAs expecting much better. The service was very slow. My husband ordered a starter of chicken leek & truffle terrine, started to eat and realised there was ham in it. WE DO NOT EAT PORK! There was no mention of any pork in the description. The waiter went to the manager who apparently said either the menu changed or the reprint of the menu omitted it. Either way, this needed to be brought to our attention at the point of order. It was simply taken away, my husband was put off and did not have a replacement. I expected the manager to come to our table with an apology, but this did not happen. We were not even offered a drink on the house! My starter of sea bass & Jalapeño crudo was delicious, so was my cocktail, cannot recall which one. The main was a special for 2. I was disappointed and was unable to eat much of it. The rest of the day and night was spent in the toilet. Speaking of toilet, I was extremely disappointed with the extremely small and rather BASIC toilet for an establishment like this.
Y. G.
Excellent food and service. Everything was absolutely perfect
K. H. (.
I am adding review for my 2019 experience. The biggest impression about this restaurant is that the seafood is unique, fresh and tasty. They have a lot of varieties. The decoration is nice and clean. Service is good. Only down side is a little pricy.
J. G.
Amazing sugar & Spice cocktail! Lovely friendly staff! Barman very passionate about his cocktail recipes 😋
p. p.
we sat 'outside' under a heater with the winter sun shining in, was a really lovely relaxed atmosphere, with amazing food and nice wine. The rib eye with cauliflower cheese was to die for ! cooked to perfection, one of the best steaks I've ever had. friendly knowledgeable staff. great place, will defiantly visit here again.
E. d. P.
Great place! The service was super friendly. Food amazing. I can’t wait to go again!
B. L.
Service excellent, every course fantastic, setting incredible able to watch the sun go down.
We had scallops and mackerel & nduja starters, both great, mackerel had a bit more about it.
Both had the hake for main, my girlfriend said one of the best courses she's ever had. Subtle but complex and lovely, glad I had it myself as I'm not sure I'd have quite had it if I'd just tried a mouthful of hers. Sides are big enough to share.
For desert we had the éclair and artic roll, as well as the amaretto sour and white widow cocktails. Éclair wasn't quite as sweet as it looked, but lovely and artic roll was fun, but I would pick different if I went again. Cocktails a hit.
Little touches as well like making cocktails not on the menu and a little happy birthday plate and treat for my girlfriend were lovely also. Even being a little unlucky to get a bit of seagull poo hit the table (before we'd ordered, just hit the table, not us) took no shine off the evening!
Recommended highly, will be back.
S. H.
Great food, lovely relaxed atmosphere.
C. D.
They went above and beyond for us and food was well portioned and delicious.
P. S.
Amazing food, wine, ambience, service a bit slow, but wouldn't stop me going. These guys loved it too!
T. Z.
Great food, good service!
B. S.
Delicious fresh seafood. We loved it here, great service and food.
B. C.
Delightful staff, delicious food ...
Thank you ... we will be back!!

I have had the salt room on my 'to eat' list for years. I am so glad I finally made it! Our waitress (Emma?) Was very professional and we felt well looked after, the food was incredible and we are already planning our next trip!
F. M.
An amazing lunchtime meal... fresh produce... delicious
R. L.
OMG!!! amazing Sunday roast. Fabulous restaurant. Our waiter was just brilliant.
I love it here and will definitely return
V. V.
Hands down the best restaurant I’ve ever been too. Welcoming and warm service, alongside delicious, simple, fresh seafood. Will always come back when in Brighton!
K. R.
Excellent. Service and quality. 2nd visit and on both occasions our fish meals were extremely well cooked and presented. Can't fault this resteraunt and will be back soon.
X. Z.
The best restaurant I’ve ever had in Uk!
A. J.
Very good fish and Crustacea options. I had the scallop to start, followed by the monkfish. The portions are larger than expected. I couldn’t really fault the food except a little more finesse...maybe. My partner had the beef ribeye, which had a lot of fat and sinew but the béarnaise was very good..although no tarragon? All in all very good...just needs a bit of fine tuning on table settings and good presentation to take it to a five star.
P. Y.
Went on my sister’s recommendation and it did not disappoint. Great atmosphere! Staff were all really friendly and assertive and great with the kids. Food was amazing, the chateaubriand was cooked perfectly. And the scallops were so good.
Highly recommended.
C. K.
Amazing food and we had a great time. Francesco provided excellent service, wine was superb and ambience was lovely. Would def go back when we visit Brighton again!
G. A. Y.
Although due to covid, the menu wasn't as plentiful as we are accustomed to, the dishes available were absolutely perfect as usual!! attentative staff, who are extremely knowledgeable in every department. You are never hurried into your order. The food is fresh, well presented and delicious. If you want the taste of the ocean then; there is no other option at all
We're already looking forward to our next visit.
Keep up the good work 🐟 🐠
M. H.
Food quality is good but uninspired. Divide that by the eye watering price and you have below average.
J. M.
Great food and service. A little more expensive than other restaurants but well worth it!
J. F.
Great cocktails, oysters and desserts! If you'd like to try oysters, but hate the taste of brine, try the oyster shooters.
A.
Lovely restaurant to take the family. A table by the window means you get a fabulous sea view. Staff friendly and great with kids. We always order the hot seafood platter and it is always amazing! Spacious clean restaurant ...bathrooms however, could be cleaner. Otherwise, we would recommend!
M. V.
Effortless efficiency, elegant, informal service, excellent cuisine. Served by Lucy who was charming and did a splendid job. 180 degree seaview just another bonus
P. A.
I give the food 5 stars and a little less to the staff, 3 stars. Ever since we walked in the matradee has not even looked us in the eye when we greeted him - maybe it was because the staff was stressed after being operational post locked down but the vibe was really uneasy, although the restaurant wasn't full. Food though was lovely and I enjoyed everything we've ordered.
b. o.
From start to finish excellent service, excellent food and a great place to enjoy any occasion.
b.
Went for my 10 year anniversary with my wife and cannot believe how friendly tye staff is we had special of the day and it was the best fish dish in the UK and I am not exaggerating. The desert was to die for❤️❤️❤️❤️. Recommend this restaurant to everyone. 5 🌟 from me and I worked in the Ritz-Carlton. Job well done staff
C. C.
Outstanding fish perfectly cooked. Courteous professional service. Unrushed.
Somewhat expensive but worth it.

The surfboard was amazing, very well seasoned 💯
T. B.
Super friendly staff, accommodating and delicious food!
A. W.
We had the lunch set menu - choice of two starters which were small but well presented however I was looking forward to fish soup and it was not available, I felt some bread with the starter would have been a nice touch. Choice of two mains we both had the hake which was very nice and came with some lovely extras. We shared a cheese board which was fantastic. Together with a carafe of wine it came to 56 with service this became 63 pounds.
Great view of the front from the sea facing tables.
P. T.
Loved it. The food has always been fabulous....
J. D. P.
Lovely attentive service and delicious food. Nice atmosphere and view of the ocean. Quite simple menu though with limited variety of flavours.
J. S.
Absolutely excellent! From the great young enthusiast bar tender through to all the staff, especially the lovely lady (Agatha?) who looked after us so incredibly well; we had a fantastic evening. The food was amazing, beautifully cooked, brilliant presentation and perfect portions. Off to try and recreate that asparagus starter and lamb but the Pier pud is just too unique to even attempt!! We will definitely be back.
T. F.
Food is brilliant! The very professional waiting staff were great in accommodating my wife's slightly tricky diet requirements and a huge effort was made to make sure we were happy, which we definitely were. A huge selection of excellent sounding dishes were hard to pin down, but both of our courses were delicious. A really memorable birthday meal. We will definitely be going back and recommending.
S. R.
Non, je ne regrette rien! There are many, too many, average or below average spots in Brighton due to the churn of endless hungry tourists . This is not one of them. Yes, it is costly, but for a special occasion the combined pleasures of the ambience - overlooking the sparkling sea, low key friendly service and delicious, beautifully presented food is a real winner. Clearly a great team thank you...I enjoyed my birthday and will be back next year ,- When I'm 64!
G. G.
Excellent customer service and the food is of exceptional quality and prepared and presented extremely well. A really pleasant experience.
C. K.
Great atmosphere. The service is friendly and attentive. They even offered us a little treat for dessert when they heard it was our anniversary. They ensured the fish was cooked to point and their menu is varied and luscious.
Strongly recommend.
M. S.
Beautiful food and good service without the pretentious atmosphere
T. S.
Fantastic restaurant and service! Thank you so much to Gregory for fitting me in on short notice. My husband and I had a great meal for his birthday 😁
A. L.
Absolutely loved this restaurant and can't wait to come back. Faultless service and the food was delicious. Views are amazing too. Can't recommend enough.
M. T.
Some of the dishes were amazing, great atmosphere helpful staff
P. W.
Fabulous atmosphere, brilliant service, food delicious 😋
T. N.
Had a really great time here, the food was delicious and the staff were friendly - really sweet of them to provide complimentary chocolates for our occasion!
R. S.
Friendly staff and very nice food. Although the main focus is on sea food, you can have a steak or a Sunday roast here too. We had all three amongst us and it was really tasty. They know how to cook steak to order too (unlike some restaurants). Prices - Ribeye steak with chips cost £26, Seafood sharing platter £50 (starter); Bottle of wine ~£35-70. Black mayonnaise is really nice (cooked in house with charcoal).
A. G.
A very nice seafood restaurant on Brighton's seafront with amazing desserts
S. H.
Lovely food although we had to move off the table after 2 hours despite there being no other reservation.
R. K.
An amazing meal, super tasty and accommodated our gluten free needs. Fish was cooked to perfection with some innovative accomplishments and flavours. Will be coming again. Staff very friendly and helpful, which just added to the meal.
H. L.
Absolutely delicious! Best meal in town
C. L.
Oh wow. Just amazing. If you want a special meal with a loved one or for a special celebration occasion then this is a great place for it. Delicious food, paired with great wines. Great atmosphere, service, and oh did I mention the exquisite desserts???

I've had the hake and today the monkfish. You will not taste anything better in Brighton. Staff are all wonderful and my compliments to the wonderful chef(s) producing such tasty food!
Never had so much food envy of what everyone else is having, so much so I came back 2 in a week to have a good taste of their wonderful menu.
Definitely save some space for their yummy desserts!

Lovely dinner, prompt service.
Delicious food.

The service was s little slack they forgot part of our order , we had to get up and remind them.
However the request for Dairy free meal was attended to superbly.
The food dairy free and with lots of flavour, just amazing! Complements to the chef.

We have been wanting to try the Saltroom for quite a long while. Well we weren't disappointed! Obviously it is not a cheap option but it was worth every penny. We had oysters and scallops to start, both very good. Then we had a seafood platter to share, the waiter told us what it contained but it had been altered on arrival and the changes were things I don't eat, however this was quickly resolved with no fuss and we were given some additional octupus. The dessert was outstanding, we had sharing plate which were all delicious, too difficult to decide which was the favourite. The service was really good and they had got the ambiance just right which is not an easy thing.
C. F.
Had diferrent experiences every 3 times that I have been there. Fish is the best thing there. Scallop and cheese is a weird combination. Plates are extremely small serving. The bar is amazing though! Can make any cocktails based on the taste you want in your mouth.
D. T.
The sea food plater to share amazing.
My baked fish in salt absolutely outstanding.
My husband stake ribeye was a very big disappointment-very dry and over cooked he asked for rare.
Stuff friend but very busy and we didn’t have much of contact with them.
Shame as place was very recommended to us that’s why we chosen to go there for our first wedding anniversary meal. £130 for 2 of us with 2 soft drinks and no deserts.
B. P.
Loved the dining experience..food fabulous. Enjoyed celebrating a milestone birthday for my husband and they provided a personalised fab dessert wishing a happy birthday 🎂.
J. C.
Very nice experience and professional and pleasant staff. We ordered an afternoon tea which better can be prebooked. They whipped it out anyway for us and this was a pleasant experience. Well prepared and also nice to watch. The meal for the little one was nice as well with beatifull cooked Broccoli and thick chips.
R. M.
I've been here on a few occasions - with clients in the evening for a meal to impress, or most recently for a casual lunchtime celebratory meal with colleagues. We all went for the set lunch menu, which was reasonable and of high quality. The fish and chips was especially good.
B. G.
This place is really good. The atmosphere is really chill and the cocktails are the best in Brighton by miles. The food is amazing and super tasty and if you get the pre-theatre menu it's actually quite reasonably priced. I had cod with oxtail and it was the most unique fish dish I've ever had. Highly recommend
J. G.
Really amazing food & very professional service. First evening back inside dining & staff were very welcoming. All in all highly recommended
F. A.
Amazing food, definitely worth
S. H.
Only ever popped by for cocktails. They're great oh and the oyster are fantastic too.
A. B.
The star of the show here is the freshness of the fish. The daily's blackboard showcases what is fresh that day and we had a sea bream platter for two which was delicious! Overlooking the sea, this restaurant delivers on location too.
C. C.
Honestly, I would give this place a 3.5 if I could.... The food was good and atmosphere buzzing. My wife had the whole Bream fish, which was surprisingly good. I had the ribeye and prawn, which was cooked very well, mid-rare.
I give it a 3.5 though because something was just lacking. The waiter was very nice and removed the bones from my wife's fish, however, the wine list was random and the chips were sub par. Overall a good experience and a 4 star rating. :)
R. R.
Quite an elegant place but that didn't cause them to turn my girlfriend and I away even though we were under dressed I feel. Would always say go with something off the market blackboard to share with someone else as the Monkfish we had was amazingly delicious. There was a large group by where we originally say and we were offered to switch tables immediately which was very considerate and it made for a much better evening. I'd highly recommend this place
J. C.
The best food and most superlative service I've had anywhere in a long time. Just all round wonderful.

A superb restaurant right on the seafront with an excellent menu including vegetarian options. Beautifully cooked fish and succulent steaks can be followed by exquisite desserts. Glass and brick decor can render the acoustics a little noisy but well worth the visit!
A. “. A.
The best restaurant in Brighton hands down the food will always taste nice . You will never get a more flavour rich steak in your whole life . The waiters are really nice and friendly . They are always very welcoming . Not once have I been there and I haven't liked everything they put on the table . Great for a meal out . It's definitely extremely cheap for what you get.
C. L.
We were looking for a nice open sea front restaurant to have a seafood meal while we were in Brighton and this definitely fit the bill! The inside wad very open and bright and is located near the sea front making it extra special. I especially enjoyed the clams and ham hock which was garnished with chilli, I really think the combination was incredible and everyone really loved this dish. They also had a selection of different oysters and we specified that we preferred smaller oysters which were delicious and came with a vinegarette.
The service was very good and our waitress was friendly and helpful.
L. S.
Amazing friendly service and awesome food!
S. R.
The whole experience never fails to deliver. The oysters are always so fresh, starters interesting & delicious, traditional fish cooked superbly. The Sam Smith lookalike waiter was great. Fantastic.
B. L.
I had heard mixed reviews since it opened but wanted to give it a try myself. Amazing food and service! Went for a double celebration last night and we had the best table in the restaurant (in my opinion!). The staff we very attentive and helpful, we weren't rushed and they brought me a happy birthday pebble plate. Food was AMAZING. Better than the Coal Shed by far.
G. R.
Food was great, small portions but very tasty and the Taste of Brighton desert was stunning. The service was disappointing - our waitress went missing after trying to hurry us through our order, the wine order was forgotten and she reappeared some 45 minutes later expressing surprise that 'no-one' had taken our order. We sat for 20 minutes without hydration or sustenance before grabbing the attention of a waiter who, it has to be said, did a great job thereafter. The table was sticky which made leaning on it unpleasant for our wives who were wearing silk.
The place takes itself too seriously - style comes before the dining experience and we doubt whether we will be back. It's not cheap, and there are better places to eat in Brighton for that sort of money.
R. P.
High end seafood restaurant. Very over priced and hyped. On my visit service was slow and menu descriptions sometimes misleading (menu said hazelnuts and wild garlic, neither were found on my plate). Food quality is generally good and cooking confident, but overall I would not recommend this restaurant as good value for money. Expect to spend £100 + for two.
J. D.
A lovely venue, this is a great place to go for a special treat. The food is exceptional and the specials are always something, well, special. In my opinion I think it's a bit over-priced, hence only giving it 4 stars. I say this as there are other seafood restaurants in Brighton of a high calibre which are cheaper.
Overall though, don't turn down the chance to eat here if you have the opportunity!
A. B.
The range of seafood on the menu is impressive, particularly impressed with the Monkfish (sharer for 2). The portion sizes for the sides are rather small but the quality of the fish makes up for it. You must try the Taste of the Pier dessert!!
j. k.
Service was good and the waiter was helpful in getting a cocktail not on the menu.
Food was nice but very small both starter and main.
The signature sweet looked great but lacked content , once is enough to say you have had it.
Will probabaly give it one more go in case my menu choices were poor.
R. A.
Amazing, delicious food, great wine.
A. F.
We just had the most delicious meal here. It was my partners first experience eating fish after an anaflactic reaction 24 years ago... worth the wait! Delicious food and great service.
P.
Best Seafood Restaurant in town, amazing service.
J.
Probably the best seafood I’ve ever had. Excellent service. Great cocktails.
J. R.
Truly excellent service all night - in spite it being a busy Saturday night. Lovely cocktails, delicious oysters, octopus and crab starters and skate / hake mains. Don't miss the taste of the pier dessert! Highly recommend
G. G.
The food is excellent. Go for special of the day if you have the opportunity. Different fish restaurant than we expected. Price is bit high for what you receive, nevertheless very tasty.
D. F.
Lovely meal and great service. The starters and cocktails in particular were top class.
T. W.
The customer service and waiting staff were superb (thank you Holly and Oliver) . I couldn't have improved my visit they were exceptional. It lives up to its reputation.

Visited 'The salt room' July 2017.
If you enjoy eating fish, this is the place for you! Non-fish options available too of course.
We were a party of 3. Two of us shared the whole seabream, and the other had a meal to themselves. We shared bread to start with and indulged in some chocolate truffles and cocktails for dessert.
Neither food nor service could be faulted. The Whole fish was deboned in front of us on the table and (because I asked) came with an explanation on how to best go about this process.
Staff very attentive as my wine was topped up every time before actually finishing my glass.
I had the pleasure of not paying, but I know the payer had expected to fork out a little more than was our actual final bill. Beware you are paying for Quality!
I highly recommend it and will certainly be back, even if I should have to foot the bill!
M. M.
Potential to be the best seafood restaurant east of Cornwall... always seem to over-chef at least one dish though. This time it was trying to marry raw broad bean, passion fruit and fish.
If the owner empowered the (mainly) excellent staff to raise quality control at conception, and incentivised the managers to reward the best of the serving staff to reduce churn and get rid of the few that let the side down, this place would easily get Michelin stars.
D. D.
Amazing food, had the fresh seabass to share. Waiter was lovely and knowledgeable. Would definitely return
U. D.
Octopus was amazing. Fish was tasty. Steak was worth the money! Definitely coming back
r. m.
I went to salt room a couple of weeks ago with my boyfriend. We were warmly welcomed by a young lady who took our coats and then seated us pretty quickly.
Our server was Ross, who was brilliant! The overall service was impeccable!
I would 100% recommend this restaurant!
P.s the deserts are incredible... so make sure you leave room for it! ;)
D. M.
Best meal I've had in a restaurant in a long time. And the puddind was amazing! Service was friendly and very helpful without being intrusive. It was a hot day and they let us fill our water bottle and even gave us ice. Top marks!
i. t.
Overall experience Amazing seafood and service. Although the menu did not specify that the fish burger had prawns and my friend was allergic to it, servers reacted fast and brought her order fast and it tasted delicious. It is a great seafood place with nice atmosphere!
C. F.
The Good:
Absolutely beautifully cooked salt baked fish. Great croquets. The dessert looks amazing but we didn't have room to try it!
Staff were brilliant and attentive, great views.
The Bad:
We arrived a but early to an empty restaurant but were told to come back at the allocated time. (Which is fair enough, but they could have accomodated).
The crab claws were undercooked so we sent them back, they tasted very good after they cooked it for longer
M. L.
Amazing food, sevice is not the finest, but the food is phenomenal!
A. S.
Great food, great service. Highly recommend
S. B.
Was taken here for afternoon tea as a surprise birthday treat by my girlfriend. Food was delicious and great experience all round. The scone was amazing! Also spotted another table with a Sunday roast, will definitely be coming back to try that!
G. B.
Pretty faultless. Lovely, subtle flavours. Attentive staff (a mention to Luca our waiter) and great location. Only tiny downside was the acoustics as mostly wooden fittings, but after an Armagnac who cares😎
L.
Lovely food and great service. Went during the eat out scheme so was great price too. Would love to eat there more if they can keep offering cheaper menus
T. M.
Squeezed us in last minute for a birthday meal. Fantastic, well put-together inventive menu. Friendly professional service. Will definitely be back!
C. M.
Outstanding meal. Every dish was unique, creative and very tasty. Never had anything like it. The bream for main course was cooked in a bread-like casing, kept the moisture... So delicious. And the mont blanc choux for dessert was so much more delicious than I expected! The Christmas decoration made it all more special!
C. A.
We had eaten here 2 years ago and it was fantastic, so reluctant to go again as we'd had a nice meal at Copper Clam the evening before and didn't want to ruin the memory of our first time here at the Salt Room- However everything was great from start to finish.
C. C.
Fantastic food, excellent service and great location! Slower than usual service compared to other restaurants, but really enjoyed this as it gave you more of a chance to sit and relax rather than being rushed!
L. P.
Excellent place for fresh fish and oysters. Caring and knowledgeable staff. Just a brilliant place to eat.
A. S.
Great, great food in UK! Surprise! Specialized in seafood (no fish&chips, thanks God!), this is probably the best place you can find in Brighton. Wine selection includes good stuff. Starting with an aperitif is also a good idea - gin selection is great. Absolutely recommended for fine dining.
The negative note: it's pricey
J. L.
Really interesting food. Innovative flavour pairings without being silly about it. Great venue for a celebratory meal. Our waiter was very interested to hear our opinions on the food and this in itself was demonstrative of great service. They were really interested in how we enjoyed it.
J. C.
Unexpectedly excellent. I didn't imagine a restaurant in a Hilton would serve such impeccably fresh, skillfully cooked fish. And it's right on the seafront.
S. S.
This place is a must when visiting Brighton... The food is superb & the service is exceptional... 5 stars plus
J. L.
Taken here today as a surprise by my husband. Nice buzzy atmosphere, very polite and attentive waiter who had the answer to every question we asked about the food on the menu. Food was prompt but not rushed, presentation exceptional and taste superb. Looking forward to returning. 2 people, 3 courses, a bottle of wine, 1 lager and a bottle of water £125.
M. F.
The place is beautiful is literally in front of the sea and it has a lovely view. The cocktails are superb, the food is very good and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
It is a gourmet restaurant so the portions are not huge and the food is not cheap, but I think it worth the price.
T. G.
Not cheap by any means but the quality of the food and service is worth the money. A very welcoming ambiance and friendly and attentive staff.
K. L.
Absolutely love this place.
Superb food and service to match. Not cheap but well worth the extra money. Locally sourced ingredients. The sharing desert even comes on part of the old West pier. Genius
Good atmosphere and always busy so pre book to get a table especially at the weekend.
Award winning cocktails
Clean facilities. Outside seating and view of the sea to top off the night.
f.
Amazing food and fantastic service!
R. K.
Without a doubt the best dining experience you can get in Brighton. A combination of outstanding and very well presented food, amazing cocktails, great wine list, over the top impeccable service. Yhe ambience and decor ate terrific. Now had three visits and cannot fault anything. Each one an experience in its self
J. H.
Terrific restaurant in a great location. Has a lovely vibe and helpful knowledgeable staff. We decided to try 5 or 6 starters in order to get a wider set of flavours and think we made the right decision. The salt coda fritters were delicious more so even because of the accompanying taramasalata with squid ink. A fresh smoked mackerel was delicate and delicious. But most outstanding for me was a raw bream capaccio served with passionfruit and scotch bonnet chillies - superb. The menu changes regularly so high hopes for future visits.
B.
Such an evening! The quality of service and food is above the best. Sylwek has unbelievable knowledge about the sea food and wine selection. He turned our dinner in a spectacular event! Can’t wait to be back. I do recommend booking in advance.
Best place in south coast.
Thank you 🙏
N. G.
Busy place with a great atmosphere. Friendly staff and very good food. Thoroughly recommended
S. L.
The interior of the restaurant was nicely designed and the staff friendly. However, the afternoon tea that we had was quite disappointing. The scotch egg and beef tartare were lovely but everything else was pretty average. The crumpet did not taste of marmite as suggested and was a little overdone on the bottom. The scones were either overdone or stale (or both) as it was hard on the outside, almost crunchy. Though it was lovely to have homemade clotted cream and jam. The desserts were all very sweet, sickly and not well balanced in terms of textured and sweet reds. Flavours suggested cocoa powder and artificial flavourings. I wouldn't recommend to go for afternoon tea. Thought the main meals looked like they're worth a go.
G. B.
An okay place but certainly not the best fish restaurant in Brighton. Ambience or querceyness not at all and situated on a busy road with continuous traffic running past.
Head to the lanes and you will find better eateries that specialise in seafood
E.
I was in desperate need of a steak, my first choice the Coal Shed, had no availability. The menu is focused on sea food, and it looked great, the platters coming out are presented fabulously, but I stuck with my need for beef and wasn't let down, a perfectly cooked, delicious rib eye steak, awesome cocktails and great service from lovely staff, would def visit again and sample the seafood!!
J. C.
Really good food, we thought a bit pricey but was happy with the outcome.
I. W.
Really enjoyed the food and attentive service at The Salt Room. Could not fault a thing. Wish lived nearer Brighton would visit more often.
S. H.
The fact that this restaurant is in a chain hotel initially made me think it will be bulk standard and disappointing, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. The lobster was the best I have had outside of J Sheekey or Scotts in central London. The staff attentive, friendly and the ambiance spot on. As for the Taste of The Pier desert - I cannot wait to go back!
J. M.
Excellent fish, highly recommend the flying gurnard. Excellently presented, delicious and moist fish, wonderfully crispy skin with a delicious kimchi and veg accompaniment. Staff very friendly and helpful, would recommend
A. H.
Went for the roast it looked amazing but they had ran out.... although everyone around us was having it? Poor timing i guess 4pm is late for Sunday roast is it? Food was nice but bit over priced... service was slow waited 45 mins for the bill....couldn't fault the staff they were lovely.
P. M.
The food is fantastic! Probably the best surf board we've ever had. The reason why we scored it down was the absolutely awful lady hostess. Fix the first impression and you have an award winning venue!
PS. Allesandro approaches us for feedback durring the second lunch, and took it on board very well.
B. A.
Very nice restaurant with a focus on fish dishes some great food today and desserts were very very good
m. s.
Fish is fresh and served with the right consistency i.e. not dry. Portion sizes ok and just about value for money. Quite noisy in the restaurant. Overall score a high 3
c. w.
What a great restaurant. Food was spectacular, location is perfect on the sea front. Staff were super friendly and knowledgeable- highly recommended!!
S. M.
On the more expensive end, but the food is usually top notch and the presentation is excellent. They have a magnificent wine selection and an extensive cocktail list. The desserts are always great as well.
S. N.
Love this place, been about four times now and never once been disapointed, can't fault the food and would go as far as to say is one of the best places to eat in Brighton and Hove. Their set menu is excellent and always showcases their most inventive and innovative dishes and with prices around the £20 mark for three courses it offers outstanding value, even better visit on a Monday and you can take your own bottle for a small corkage fee.
A. H.
Great Fish restaurant. I went for a work lunch and had an awesome halibut. The service was great too.
M. S.
Love meal, and great service
M. R.
Can't fault the service and the food; this restaurant is a cut above the mainstream! As the adage goes, you get what you pay for.. pricey, but justifiably so. Great place for a special evening out. Does get on the noisy/echoey side when busy. Perhaps it's the bare brick walls..
s. m.
Fish was filleted at table , but half was left on bone and taken away. Considering the price, was not too impressed. Was supposed to be for two , but we were both left with tiny portion.
On plus side , scallops were excellent.
E. P.
Absolutely amazing food, couldn’t fault it
S. F.
Amazing food, great staff and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend 😋
J. W.
Amazing dinner, waiter recommended a very nice wine. Stone bass was one of the best fish dishes I've had, and the dessert platter was a lot of fun.
I. F.
Great food, great service, lovely place to go for a surprise lunch for the special one in your life.
C. C.
It's one of the nicest steaks one can get in Brighton.. well.. as good as steaks in UK can get even. Totally recommended, friendly, delicious, and exceptional selection of wines.
K. T.
Really enjoyed the salt room the cocktails and food are great but can be pricey so for me this is a special occasion kind of place! Love the terrace in summer eating oysters and sipping bubbles is fantastic.
L. B.
Great location, view and service. It’s busy sitting outside on the waterfront with the traffic but the road is just out of view and you get the sea view which is perfect. £100 for 2 courses and a carafe of wine.
M. S.
Beautiful food and drink, charming and efficient waiters and the sea view — it’s all to love!
V. C.
I've eaten lunch here 5 times in the last year. Service has steadily improved; it has always been friendly but sometimes scatty. The food is lovely, especially the fruits de mer, and good value.
M. H.
I had a wedding lunch here and it was faultless as far as the food is concerned. However we were a large group (10) and the group menu was limited. Overall a nice experience.
L. C.
Absolutely excellent, top quality restaurant.
R. K.
Great atmosphere, location, super friendly and nice staff and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The only thing was portion size is on the smaller side, so if you are hungry - order some sides.
a. p.
Yet another delicious visit….
D. K.
one of the best restaurant in Brighton.
Suitable for casual and as well as special occasions.
Lovely food and dessert.
Never let you down with food and atmosphere.
Strongly recommended.
M. S.
All i can say is fresh seafood cooked to absolute perfection. I will be returning here again. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone who likes seafood.
A. C.
Having come back from Spain and eating fresh fish for a fortnight. I felt the need for a steak. However, I tried their Monk fish medley with clams and Mussels. I was not disappointed.
J. A.
Everything we had here was top notch. My only issue and I know its not a requirement is that our waiter was not wearing a mask. Otner than that is was a great experience
J. M.
Excellent restaurant food in a great location. Relaxed attentive service. Quite high prices - but good value for the quality of ingredients and level of cooking. Set price lunch is a bargain.
J. S.
I like it. It is not expensive and the portions were generous yet not obtuse.
My waitress was lovely; polite, sweet, and considered.
The fish soup was interesting. A grey, skin on, fish fillet, shellfish, all congealing on seaweed in a unwarmed bowl. Rescue them! A side jug of ink infused broth, hmm. Salty, and complex. Also if you try the toasts before hand, lost. The hot garlic shuts off bits of your mouth. The fish was cold. The mussel flesh that resisted, the texture gets tricky. I loved the twist on rouille. And I'll stop. Because I like the salt rock. More broths in jugs again on the main. Apt of the location? dark salty ominous waves? I lived in china for 7 years so I can pretty much drink saline, but this dashi, delicious albeit, was merciless to the perfectly cooked hake. Bacon lardons salty, purslane salty, tempura batter now wet and..I'll stop again. Textures and salt issues. By now I'm 2/3 of a bottle of water in. But I still like this place. And the pud was amazing. Balls of sour joy and apple sweet spongy yum. Gloopy buttery brown pools and a fizzy sorbet of puckery. I liked the unsweetened apple puree. Very good and lots of fun. But tomorrow I'd like a huge soup de poison please with one texture, velvet.
u.
Very good food, attentive service. Somewhat spoiled at the end when we had to ask at least twice for our change after paying the bill. Don't know what the manager was playing at.
M. S.
The Chefs in the kitchen certainly know how to cook! All of the food was really well put together. The front of house needs work at first it was very slow but pleasant enough, then chaotic with mistakes being made a few times. If I returned it might simply be for their great Bloody Caesar which is the best I've had in a while now.
L. B.
Great food, great service, at great prices too. Five stars all round. We had a really enjoyable meal, would recommend.
