I had the Sunday Lunch 3 courses menu (£29) and it was my first time trying this very English main dish: roast meat with Yorkshire pudding, vegetables and gravy sauce. It was good. The restaurant is beautiful and staff are excellent! We had a good time.

Overall great experience! The neighborhood had a lot of small coffee shops so it was nice to be able to eat at a nice restaurant with a view of the port. The servers were all very nice and accommodating. Food might have been a little salty for my taste but still delicious!

Amazing breakfast a 10/10 for sure. Price for it was good too £11, but the place is quite upper class you may feel a bit out of place if you don’t dress classy. The waiters are lovely people but the guy managing them with the salmon pink suit doesn’t seem to be very nice to them. We want equality and justice for the working class ✌️✌️

I went as a table of six to Aqua on a Wednesday evening. It was busy and had a great atmosphere. We sat out in the covered area which was light and airy. The service was friendly, helpful and attentive. A few people on the table ordered off the set menu which I think is good value for money. Being gluten free the set mine was a bit limited for me. The main menu offers a very good choice for gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian but I felt they are a bit over priced as often and iten from the meal was missing but not replaced and at the same price. For example I had the Pork Cheeks (pictured) which was delicious but I couldn't have the black pudding (gf) and with only two very small asparagus as my veg I think £15.00 (same price as main menu) was quite expensive. I was still hungry after my main and wish I had ordered an additional saviour dish in hindsight but I went for the large dome dessert, Hazelnut tort with coffee icecream and sticky toffee sauce. Of course the theater of melting the dome was exciting and fun but the eating wasn't as enjoyable. The chocolate was quite thick in places and not that pleasant to eat on it's own. Considering it was a sharing dessert there was only one scoop of icecream. Not nearly enough to counter the rich heavy tort (which was more like a dense brownie). At £12 I definitely wouldn't be ordering that next time. I would more likely go for the selection if I wanted a sharing pudding. I would go back again as it's convenient but I would order smarter! The pizza and fish and chips were highly recommend.

We have been coming to Aqua Portishead for around two years and we are now finally getting to the time of writing a review. This place is excellent the staff are impeccable. Attentive and welcoming and make you feel that you are the only costumer in the restaurant. Out of everywhere we’ve eaten we always compare it to here and it’s just never the same. We are just so bloody impressed every time and we have come here individually as solo diners and had the same positive experience. Credit to management you clearly create a happy environment for staff! We genuinely enjoy our visits here and we thank you for creating a unique dining experience and always accommodating us even when we don’t book!

This place is great Alex is a great guy always welcoming and looks after people and making sure everything is in order but I must say Harrison is the GUY behind the bar his signature cocktails are amazing I mean this guy just knows how to keep you happy. Very nice, however, what I would say is the £15 burger was a £9 burger and other meals (bar the stake) were not not priced that well. Paying for venue not the food. Enjoyable evening, nice atmosphere, great location, fantastic staff, just food didn't match the price.

Sunday evening dinner at 8. Good: very personable service; delicious chicken supreme; pleasant position. Should do better: slow service - no drink order taken for over 10min. Calamari ‘Nibble’ then came before the drinks. Quite a few mains not available. ‘Virgin Mojito’, listed as involving ginger, had no trace of it. ‘Crispy calamari’ was soggy and chewy- sent it back… replacement only marginally better. Constant thumping music.

Decent food, staff a little brisk for my liking, didn't show much interest and one sounded outright depressed. I thought the food pretty good, although possibly a tad overpriced and the calamari slightly rubbery. A friend who was dining with me took exception to the olives, apparently too much stone to olive fleah ratio. I wasn't a big fan of the truffle oil on the olives - clashing flavours.

There literally isnt a better staff, atmosphere nor food in Portishead. Hands Down. I am quite possibly the TOUGHEST person to please dining wise. Since I cook at home myself, my standards for what I will pay for are extremely high and when it comes to cleanliness; they also cater to my OCD. I've never had a bad meal (although I'm pretty harsh on the calamari 🤪). The drinks are amazing, took a few takes on my Florrie however there's not a better cocktail ever!👌🏽❤

Excellent. We celebrated an 80th Birthday lunch and can say that starter, main and dessert were all lovely. The attentive waiter who was polite and friendly I could not fault. Booked and called in for Sunday lunch, good atmosphere and a great mix of ages and families. Attentive staff and nice to see most of the the public areas were being kept clear, especially the floor that seems to be missed until the end of the night in some places! My only concern is that you cannot get a car anywhere near and if any of your group are disabled it makes things quite difficult especially in the rain... Anyway will be back and keep up the good work!

Lovely bar/ restaurant. We sat in the covered, outside area known as the terrace with the heaters on and it was perfect. The servers are extremely professional, attentive and friendly but not overly so. As you can see from the photos, the food is very good. With a couple of courses and a few drinks it worked out about £27 each.

So I visited with my family on Sunday, we enjoyed a fantastic Lunch. From the moment we were greeted, our Aqua experience was fantastic. Our host Ben and server Shem were amazing. We were greeted with such warmth followed by a very attentive Shem waiting on us, he was above and beyond and met our needs. The food was remarkable, the roast beef was ordered by 3/4 of my party and it was phenomenal , generous dish of veggies and a lovely tender portion of beef with a huge Yorkshire pudding and ample amounts of gravy. We had a wonderful afternoon and cannot rate highly enough the great food we ate and the 5 star service we received from the Aqua team. We will visit again soon! Thankyou so much.

Brilliant staff, cannot fault them there however the vegetarian wellington was chopped up tiny pieces of veg wrapped in pastry that was tasteless and dry. The vegetarian roast also doesn't come with any vegetarian gravy and instead, they give you cranberry sauce which they describe as 'vegetarian gravy'. It's just cranberry sauce which they've heated up. If you're a vegetarian, avoid the roast unless you like an extremely dry meal. Saying that, they did take the cost of the meal off the bill so that was nice of them. However, I would have just preferred some veggie gravy.

Went into Aqua to celebrate my sister getting through an operation on her heart at the BRI. Amazing food, great service. I had the celeriac and hazelnut soup which is the best soup I've ever tasted followed by Piri pie chicken, roast potatoes and homemade coleslaw. For pudding I had the sticky toffee pudding all of this for £19 on the lunch early dinner menu. Best food we have had in a long time! Recommend this restaurant, Sara was our waitress and was very helpful in recommending the best drinks to have.

We had a meal booked yesterday (26th May) for 18 members of our family, 3 tables of 6 at Aqua Portishead. It was our Mothers funeral and we all went out to celebrate her life. Ben and all of his staff were fantastic. To serve a party of 18 is not easy but they managed to deliver all the food to the table at the same time, no delay, all as ordered, all very good. Faultless. It was a sad day but Ben and his team helped to make it a happier occasion.

Update 15/2/22: Aqua Portishead has recently had a refit, personally i prefer the previous look. Prices have gone up, that's unfortunately not unique to Aqua,food quality is still good. Was very busy so they're doing something right. Old review: Delivery of food to the table was a bit inconsistent (had to wait a long time for puddings), quality of the food was okay

I would of loved to have rated this restaurant much higher, as the staff were very nice, and the food excellent... The problem was, it seems rather expensive for what it is, a bowl of pasta and a sauce at around £14! Secondly not a great ambience experience when your seated behind an adult couple who believe its fine to let their young children screech and squeal loudly, shout and stand all over the chairs. I had to ask to have a different table, which in fairness was given.

The two of us had an evening meal here on a Wednesday, when it was surprisingly busy. Unfortunately my wife's main course was spoiled by being served with a tepid source and on a cold plate. The waitress took the dish away - and replaced it with another similarly tepid dish. This was replaced with a warmer dish, which my wife enjoyed. I have to knock off a star - and it would have been two, but the staff were very helpful and handled the situation well.

Really enjoyed the food: exquisite scallops, tasty calamari with a harissa tinged aioli. The enoki mushrooms were a disappointment as they were fried in a tempura batter which rather overwhelmed them. My companion loved her halibut followed by crême brulé. Service was good, price a tad high, as everywhere since the pandemic struck. The problem for us was the noise, almost impossible to hear yourself think let alone have a conversation. Why do restaurants all have so few absorbent materials, so many hard surfaces to bounce and amplify the loud conversation?

We came here for my wife's birthday. We booked a table for 19 people - no problem, had a courtesy call the day before to check everything was ok. The food was absolutely fantastic, excellent starters and mains. However the three stars come from the table service. We were being served by a young grumpy chap who wanted to be anywhere but serving us. No friendly customer service and a rude attitude. Not the impression to give to 19 guests who are here to have a nice time. Unfortunately we were forced into an an discretionary service charge of 10% as our party was larger than 6 guests. With regret we had minimal choice but to pay for it for such tosh service. I would go to Aqua again, only based on customer service improvements as that really put a downer on the whole evening.

My husband and I have been three times since we moved to Portishead in 2018. Each time we have had the set menu (3 courses) and have not been disappointed. We are usually quite complicated with our orders, and I am extremely fussy (that's putting it mildly) about my steak need to be medium rare and they bull's eye-d it. Unfortunately we had to ask our waiter loads of times and jumped him around for sauces and stuff and I'm still sorry about that, but everyone was superb that night, the man who greeted us was nice and welcoming, though we got the table at the door and it was a bit chilly for the girls, but after we had our wine and cocktails it was just perfect :D Thanks again, we'll definitely be back!

We were here for a family get together. Was a lovely location next to the Marina. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very good and efficient - no problem with service. I wasn’t too happy with the beer that was available on draught- only one - so didn’t have any. But some excellent wine made up for it. I went for the special offer to get three courses for £13 (I think it was). It was a very good but I felt I could have done with a lot more of it / small portions. Next time I go I think I’ll go for a pasta dish which looked a lot bigger.

Four of us visited Aqua for Dinner. We had two shared Starters, Deserts, and four mains. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was friendly and efficient. It was noisy but not overwhelming. It had a buzz. It is worth going back. There is parking nearby. Go down the side road, 1st left, turn right into the office block, go to the end and park. Walk towards the marina keep left until you reach Aqua.

The water on the table was warm and, considering it was 28 degrees, no ice was provided or offered. No one checked to see if the meal was satisfactory. A really good restaurant, which does the simple things really well. Extremely nice staff who actually look you in the eye when you arrive. Possibly the best customer service I've ever experienced. Recently been told to cut out gluten as I'm at high risk of celiac which has been a steep learnt curve. Without even batting an eye waitress was able to suggest an amazing breakfast and even made adjustments so I still had bacon. I walk into a restaurant called Aqua, and the first thing I see are two large taps, one with still water and one with sparkling water. I am seated and the hostess says she will get me some water. So I asked for sparkling. She returns with a bottle of water. Upon closer inspection, it turns out that I have just paid for this bottle of water. When I questioned this. I was offered 1/2 of the bottle. And told that I needed to ask for soda water. On speaking with the mgr, I was told that it says ‘soda’ water on the menu. But as I had not yet sat down, I had not seen the menu, and the hostess was already walking away to get my water. The taps clearly say still and sparkling. I also appreciate that Aqua will give free refills of water to those who ask for it. No need to be a patron.

First class service... We could not ask for more from the serving staff. Consistently attentive, they we there to make our evening an enjoyable experience. The food was good, though a slightly over cooked pasta did sully the experience slighlty. Had the food been on par we would have awarded 5 stars. We had the calamri and buffalo mozzarella for starters, the veil and roast duck for main, and lemon sorbet and raspberry creme brulee. Starters: fantastic, main: good, desert: great. As my wife said, the creme brulee was "orgasmic!"

A beautiful experience, tarnished only by the incessant moans of the couple beside us. The meal was prepared to perfection, and the triple-cooked chips were just how God intended - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside! Complementary olives and toothpicks made up for the smaller portion servings; with a restaurant name like "Aqua", you would hope the free tap water game would be on point... you would be correct - soft, filtered, and presented in an elegant, glass receptacle. It is safe to say the double espresso I had was far stronger than our neighbours' relationship (that ended that evening), and much like the gentleman who stormed out shortly after our departure, fairly bitter! The meticulously presented brownie, certainly impressed my Grandfather - a self proclaimed Chocolatier. Pricing was similar to that of Nandos, and although Aqua can't offer you Portuguese-style chicken dishes with various peri-peri marinades, it can offer complementary olives (both green and black), exceptionally crafted Italian food, views that parallel some of the great wonders of the world, and (if you're lucky) drama that will make you think EastEnders is dull! An easy 5 stars, for a 5 star evening!!

Portishead to me, means open air swimming pools, jurassic red coastal beaches, and unique, one off musical experiences. To come home and go for a family dinner date, Acqua is a smart and happily enjoyable mix of sea and marina views, comfortable plush and modern furniture, tasty collection of cocktails, and a simple but strong, Italian style menu. Added bonus is a great pizza oven which is always a hit. Today, what made the experience particularly fun, was (powered by the espresso martini) chatting with the Hungarian sommelier at the end of the meal about his wine bar plans - please!! your vision would augment Portishead's social scene further still! The baked scallops were tasty, the creamy cod, leeks and dauphinoise (bit less salt and pepper please), an unusual cheese menu, we had a tasty blue, a spot on yellowy gouda, and were surprised and enjoyed the two hard cheeses, a parmesan and a pecorino, also offered. Acqua is a fun place, and works for dinner date a deux, to gather family in lazy weekend lunches and celebratory afternoons, and with the space to run around outside, works as well for younger children as for memorable talks with grandparents. An added visula extra, is that Acqua always have fabulous flowers on the bar top, I recommend arriving early for a bar drink ahead of any gathering. Photos next time :)
