We just had dinner at Ganesha, and it has been an amazing experience! We had some vegetarian starters, as well as a lamb and a prawn curry. The lamb was super tender, flavorful and spicy, whilst the prawn curry was creamy and delicious. The tandoori roti was super tasty too! The service was very friendly, and the music great. Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to have delicious food and a great experience overall! You must try it yourself.

We went to Ganesha twice in our two week stay in Bristol and everything was perfect. I had the Paneer Tikka Masala (& Butter Masala the second time). My hubby is a Chicken Biryani fan and had it twice. Everything was extremely well done, seasoned, fairly priced, and some of the best Indian food we've had. The owner was very nice and checked in on us both times we visited. He also mentioned they have a new chef. We would definitely be regulars if we lived in the area, highly recommend!

this place by chance I found near Temple meads and when I went it was open. The staff there was very courteous and warm. I got my order well made and properly cooked. they have maintained the Taste of India very well. Few things which they did not have but when requested they made an attempt to make it and that was very sweet of them to do even though was out of Menu. they have colored walls with mustard yellow like turmeric which gives the feel of an Appetizer. One day when I was not able to reach them on time they made it ready and delivered it to me. I highly recommend this place to eat Indian food to taste.

This is my 3rd time visiting this restaurant! Every time I get is authentic Indian food unlike other restaurants claiming to give Indian food. Portion as well as the flavours of the food is 5 stars. Ordered it on uber eats and loved the vegetarian half korma :)! Naan was really nice and curry had a light kick to it which was great too! Paneer was cooked nicely and I loved that they served half portions as well. Having some more vegetarian mild dishes could help as well since I seem to always go for korma but would love to try another dish that is mild. Would love to one day eat in the restaurant as well :)

Out of town visitor with the family. Visited Ganesha after reading the reviews. Excellent meal and great service and they also heeded our comments after the starters and made sure our mains were prepared slightly more spicier as we being of Indian heritage prefer our food fairly hot. Went for a family meal in the week and can honestly say this was the best Indian meal I've had in a long time. The menu was varied with a great number of dishes we've not seen anywhere else, as well as many familiar favourites. Everything was delicious. This will be certainly be our go to place next time we visit Bristol.

been a long time since I've been in a setting that ticks every box! The staff were incredible, knowledgeable about the meals, helpful in choices and supportive of a friendly environment. The food was fantastic, we ordered starters, mains, naans and rice's. I had chicken dansak which was very flavoursome and good texture. My husband had lamb chops in sauce (chef special) which he enjoyed immensely. We even took home left overs as the portions were a well rounded size. The atmosphere was relaxing and suitable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Love this place. It is local to me in Bedminster. Just a really nice atmosphere for either a meal after I finish work or out for a treat at the weekend. Love everything I've tasted from there so far and the staff are really sound. Never heard of a Gosht Niligiri before I came here and now I can't get enough of it.

Our favourite Indian takeaway in Bristol hands down. Lots of veggie options I always get 2 half portions of veggie curries which is perfect size absolutely delicious full of flavour and lots to choose from. Their peshwari naans are a favourite also. Partner loves their palak paneer. Good value for how delicious it is would really recommend.

One of my favourite curry houses in Bristol that i keep going back to. The food is always amazing, good portions and great flavour. I either collect and everyone is super friendly or i get delivered and food always arrives hot. So we arrived on a Sunday which wasn’t too busy, food was amazing. Portion sizes are really big so would recommend sharing a biriyani between two people with another main (that’s what we should of done) The person that served us was really nice and attended to us with a nice manner. The only downside for me was the table size for 2 people, wasn’t ideal for ordering loads of food. Table was rammed and had to keep juggling stuff around. Fyi. I’m 24 and from London and this is my opinion, I would deffo recommend to try but just ask for a big table if it’s quiet.

Had a delicious birthday dinner with my vegetarian son and his grandmother who claims she can't eat spicy food. We all ordered different things and were all more than happy with our meals. Best garlic naan I've had for years! It was very quiet, being a Monday night, but the service was excellent. Prices are acceptable given the quality and variety of dishes available, many of which were new to me The couple behind us complained to the waiter that the portions were small and a person who I suppose was the manager came out to address the customers' concern. We all felt that the portions were perfectly adequate; I couldn't finish my main course, delicious though it was. Definitely on my list of restaurants to return to, and it's just across the road from a large supermarket which is handy given the difficulty of street parking in Bristol.

The staff were gracious after our order from uber eats mysteriously disappeared (cancelled by driver) - looks like Raphael the delivery driver went off with our dinner - uber eats have not responded. Ganesha were helpful, understanding and kind, despite that they had an order taken and essentially stolen by an uber driver with no consequence. Ganesha reput the order through expediting the process. Great service, lovely people and would order again.

I ate here with some friends last night. We've been here before and were remembered and greeted fondly - a good start to the evening! The staff here are really passionate about what they do and the food they produce. They are really happy to talk through any dish, it's history and flavours - what they like etc. It reassures me that they care so much about the quality of food they produce. The food is authentic Indian food - with a great range of spicy to not so spicy. Getting a few dishes to share works best - we really over-ordered, but it all tasted so good we felt the need to pace ourselves to fit it all in! I will definitely be back. They are really welcoming, the food is great and it is reasonably priced - a win, win, win in my book.

Myself and my partner went here when it was just opened and I was glad to see it was still thriving. My daughter was back from university and wanted a curry. One of the pulses was that most of the food was gluten free and there were lots of vegetarian options. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and you can easily park at Asda. When we asked the waiter how many rice portions we needed he was honest and didn't try to upsell us. My daughter commented that he was a bit grumpy with us and this was true. My daughter thought she'd found a hair in her food which she dropped so we weren't sure if we could mention it. The proprietor spoke to me at the till and he was really nice and said the food was all family recipes. I didn't look at the hotness index as much as I should have and my chicken was slightly to hot for me so do take that into account. Overall a nice experience and I would say to people to go and try it.

We hired Ganesha for our event. They were fantastic and food was delicious. We can't thank them enough. They catered for 185 students for an university ball and the guests loved the food! They also brought staff with them to help us serve the food. We can't thank them enough!

As I come from the same place as this restaurants origin, worldwide famous for authentic biryani and spices, I can easily say what is authentic and what is namesake. A very fine restaurant that prides on purveying authentic South Indian curries in Bristol. Friendly staff, good ambient spotlit dining. Walls are filled with traditional Indian art, Idols and atmosphere. Food is a tad pricey but fair for plethora of excellent dishes to choose from. Vegetarian friendly and halal procured meat. Collection is a bit less than eat-in. Visiting again and again!

Bought takeaway from them, the curry itself was quite expensive but other stuff like rice etc wasn't. Nicely cooked with a free mint sauce, wasn't as spicy as it could have been though. Arrived pretty quickly (within about half an hour) delivery driver was friendly. Strangely they don't seem to sell drinks which considering the mark up other curry houses put on them is a bit odd.

I am a member of a local Bristol walking club and 15 of us eat there in December 2012 on a Friday night. The food was freshly cooked and with excellent flavours we were well impressed. The waiter who looked after us was friendly and helpful and basically sorted out our starters for us. This included a variety of dishes and some individual choices. The restaurant was busy but we were not kept waiting. The whole evening was a brilliant experience. What could be improved: the choice of beers and the style of the pictures on the wall. A small consideration to a very good night out for our group.

Absolutely delicious - traditional Indian food from all around the country. Slightly different to the usual Bangladeshi found in most Indian restaurants. We ordered delivery from Ganesha yesterday. It arrived on time and was brought by a lovely delivery-man. We had onion bahjis, a tomato-based lamb curry (from Chef's specials) and a mild, chicken with egg curry (again, Chef's specials), a pashwari and a chilli naan. The bahjis were surprisingly spicy, the curries were both very nice, with the lamb more on the spicy side. They were not oily and very tasty. The portions weren't as big as what you would be used to with Indian food delivery but they were not by any means small. The naans were great, with the chili one having real chilli. It was my second time eating from there and we will be returning.

As a south Indian, my palate can, by default, discern the 'authenticity' of food served up in a restaurant. I have to say that I was very impressed by the food at Ganesha in Bedminster. We ate at Ganesha for the first time this week. The restaurant was getting busy, yet we received a pleasant reception and we were offered a choice of where we would like to sit. We were kept up to date about how long it would take for them to come round and take our order and were advised that the food should not take too long from time of ordering to arrive. This was a good start as we had an idea of times and what to expect when. They actually stuck to the time they said which was good going. Prasad (one of the owners), took our order. He took the time to guide us through options of dishes based on what we wanted to eat and also suggested appropriate portion sizes- this was helpful because a 'small' or 'large' portion size can vary greatly by restaurant- trust me I have got it wrong before! After our usual start of poppadums, the starters were served. They were delicious and certainly whetted my appetite for the upcoming main course. Soon after, the main course of breads and side dishes arrived. The sauce that the paneer dish we ordered was cooked in can only be described as 'just right' in terms of the seasoning, consistency, level of spice as described in the menu- mmm, delicious indeed. We had a very pleasant evening and regret not trying Ganesha before. Turns out that although it is in Bedminster by location, it is 'just across the water' from the city centre of Bristol and takes an extra 5 minutes to get to. It certainly will the first of many visits for us there and we will be recommending Ganesha to as many of our friends as we can! Thankyou Prasad and co. for your hospitality. I've given this three stars which would have been almost a five for the first few times i've had a delivery from them but the last one was poor. Due to the extra funds required to eat their un-formulaic indian recipes, this is an occasional take away/delivery for us. Made on special occasions like birthdays or for visiting friends and relatives when you want to show off the local take away quality. The last 'special occasion' was ruined by badly prepared food, in stupidly small quantities. Dry currys and unpleasant side dishes. This should NOT happen at a place where they charge a premium for their food. This is probably the most expensive indian restaurant in Bristol. If not, then it's way up there. But hey, I don't mind spending a few extra pounds to get food created by a creative chef that actually appears to bother about the food they serve. I didn't complain about this. I was too annoyed at the time and spaced out on the issue the following day. That's my bad. I suspect though that they may well have dealt with this issue fairly, but I just didn't get around to it. In this case, they get a three star review overall as they let me down. Top quality indian food prices demand top quality indian food seven days a week. Unreliable is where they are at in my mind but the prices remain high. Take your chances as their quality control is not a particularly strong point. Their potential is high but don't put up with average or poor food when you are paying a premium..

Dined at Ganesha on our Wedding Anniversary, we were pleasantly welcomed by owners Mayur and Prasad. For starters we ate the non veg mixed platter, slowly cooked in the Tandoor oven, this was succulent pieces of chicken and lamb sheesh, a perfect dish to enjoy with our drinks. The mains were excellent too, we ordered the Goan Fish and Lamb chops with mince something we have never tried before especially as we eat north Indian food all the time. The Lamb dish with mince was one of the house specialalities, however both were very tasty. What sets this restaurant apart from others in Bristol is the food is true authentic Indian food cooked with love and passion, we highly recommend to anyone.
