My partner and I are on holiday for our anniversary, and thought we would give the local Italian a try. The service team were polite and welcoming, but made the choice to sit us right next to 3 large parties; where the other half of the restaurant was empty. The table was quite close to the party of 5 adjacent, so their bags and coats were flapping in our face as they sat down. Luckily, we were in-between courses :D There were a few service issues - fluctuations in music volume and a rouge Parma ham wrapper (not part of our meal) came stuck onto the underside of one of our plates. The food was quite Anglicised - large portions, with an English course setup. The portion sizes definitely wouldn't allow a classic italian course experience! I had breaded mushrooms as a starter, which were not fresh (I'm assuming frozen). The mushrooms were high in moisture content and fell apart when cut. The 'Milano' pizza, was for the main, which was average. Too much mozzarella, not enough goats cheese; covered in a carpet of rocket. The caramelized onion was lovely though! My partner had the risotto, which was really good (although it could have fed both of us!). The desert was lovely. Overall I'm pleased we went, but did not feel like a tip could have been offered - I ended up asking for the 10% service charge to be removed from the bill.

This by no means is a review on the waiters and waitresses. The staff was AMAZING, polite, attentive and kind. But. If you’re going to run an “Italian” restaurant you need more than waiters with lovely Italian accents. The menu is large with many options. I got the sea bass which was lovely. We started with the calamari .. which had no more than 8 pieces. It was more salad than anything … not a very good plate to share. The calamari was very bland and desperately needed the “spicy mayo” I know you have to appeal to the masses and the majority of the clientele is English but.. using fake parmigiano (the spelling is wrong on the menu) and using CREAM in a carbonara ??? This isn’t Italian. It’s white-washed Italian. I was hoping for an authentic experience- not dumbed down dishes to appeal to societies take on Italian food. And yes, maybe “I should have gone to Italy for authentic Italian” .. but if that’s the case then don’t call yourself an Italian restaurant. The food is fine. Nothing to write home about. The staff is so lovely! Don’t pick this place if you’re looking for a taste of Italy. Dear owner: in response to your response, what I’m getting at is- do better. I ordered calamari not a side salad. There’s literally only 8 pieces on the plate. It’s all about the food. Do better.

Went on a cold Friday evening in December and had a warm and friendly welcome. Food was excellent and even though we had booked an early evening table, it was buzzin with families and friends enjoying a post Christmas meal.

The food is always fantastic. Full of family atmosphere in the early evenings. We often get takeaway as well. Just factor in that the takeaway is never ready at the agreed time! This place has big step to get into it, and they didn't have a ramp when we enquired last time. Not wheelchair accessible.

Really pleased to see an Italian restaurant back in Chipping Sodbury high street. Il Gusto opened less than 2 weeks ago in the same building as the now closed La Passione. The new restaurant appears to be under new ownership, with completely new staff and a much needed make-over. We went on the first Friday after the restaurant had opened. It was very busy but the atmosphere was great. I had Penne alla Matriciane and my partner had Linguine Ragu. Both dishes were well cooked and of generous proportions. The only downside was the wait. It was 45 minutes before our order was taken and nearly an hour and a half before we were served our main course. Hence the 4 star rating. We will be going back - we hope the waiting time will improve as the restaurant overcomes any teething troubles, as the ambience and quality of the food, if our first visit was anything to go by, would justify our perseverance.

We placed an order for two take away pizzas, one for myself and gluten free for my partner. Unfortunately the gluten free just wasn’t right, we informed the restaurant and they were so obliging and cooked another for my partner free of charge. When I arrived to collect the replacement, the staff were so apologetic and opened the pizza box to make sure I was happy before I left the building.

We were very badly let down (a family group of 7) by a high street pub which failed to respect our reservation. Gusto managed to serve us late in the afternoon to save a difficult situation. Both food and service were excellent. We were grateful and look forward to returning.

I think 3 stars mean good, and that is how I feel about my experience. No complaints about service, also adequate safety measures in place, slightly disappointed with garlic bread for £4,(baguette split into 2 pieces with cheese - I was expecting freshly baked dough) and Minestrone soup containing mostly beans with no signs of fresh vegetable (like soup from tin). I understand it is hard to run hospitality units these days, and wish you all the best in future.

They have done an amazing job since taking over, really have beautifully restored the building and the food matches in quality. Excellent food with efficient, friendly, but not intrusive service. The food quality, at least based on the menu I chose, was top notch. It was served piping hot and the wait was hardly noticeable. The prices are premium, but you do get a premium experience. It can get noisy and quite warm when large parties are being catered for, but hey, what do you expect in a family friendly Italian restaurant?

Had a great meal this evening to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Food was outstanding, we had pasta, pizzas and kleftiko for mains all of which were excellent. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, service was very good. Got chatting to chef and he informed us that the menu would have more of a Greek influence in the New Year, currently Mediterranean. Pudding week good. The only reason we haven't given 5 stars is the price, had 2 courses and a drink cost was just under £80. Given the quality of the food probably worth it but was a bit pricy for us but it won't stop us going back. If you fancy testing yourself this place should be on the shortlist.

Really good restaurant, one of my favourite for Italian style food. Pasta is great, although I've not had the pizzas yet. Good selection of wines and usual beers and cider. Parking in Sodbury is usually ok if you venture out early, past 6.30pm you do struggle and usually have to park up some distance from the high street. Great place and people, service is on time and plenty of seating, but book early, it gets full quickly. Sign of a good place....

Very nice meal with a good friend. I had the chicken liver parfait to start which was plentiful with a nice salad and two generous pieces of bread. My friend had bruchetta who said it was delicious. Pizza Picante for me which was just perfect and my friend had the Misto which was a fish platter with a sauce & side salad. Bottle of perfectly chilled Peccorino wine and all for under £65 which was good value for money.

During these Covid dominated times, we were a little nervous going out again after a while. But the Covid mitigation measures were overall excellent here. Track and Trace in place (they could do with getting a scan in QR Code instead of paper), sanitiser and waiters all wore masks. Food was good quality as usual, although Calamari was over fried. Restaurant was very busy though so can be forgiven on this occasion. Will update on our next visit.

Absolute legends every time we go there, but this Sunday 15th Jan 23 was above and beyond. We had a family reunion lunch and there was about 15/16 of us, the staff was SO accommodating and helpful, the food all came out at the same time and they always made sure we had drinks etc. Honestly can't fault them, and always had a smile even though I'm sure we were (unintentionally!! A bit annoying lol) thankyou so so so much everyone that was working that day. We had an amazing time as always.
