My husband took me and my baby girl for dinner here for my birthday. We went for an early sitting and it was already full - you definitely need a reservation because it’s popular!
Parking was easy enough to find. Service was fantastic! Cocktails were lovely! Wine was delicious.
I really can’t say how good it was overall / the aligot is a MUST and the scallops were definitely my favourite. I would come back here any day of the week!

Food was beautiful, particularly the starters - scallops and pigeon both exceptional. Nice wine & cocktails, friendly service. It was a shame they couldn’t reach to putting a sparkler in dessert or any other special touches as we were there for a birthday and spent a lot of money. Worth a visit for a special occasion if you don’t mind spending a fair bit on a meal.

I saw little french on the TV several months ago and decided that we would visit during our time in Bristol.
It was so worth the wait. The Lamb Sweetbreads were pure melt in the mouth joy, the Queen Scallops were perfect and the Wood Grilled Pyrenean Lamb leg was cooked to absolute perfection.
A most enjoyable experience.

Great food, great wine, great time - been here to eat three or four times now and every time the food does not dissapoint! Such a delicious menu, well thought out flavours, always leave full to the brim. Amazing wine selection, too. Also the service is fantastic

Stunning menu 😍
I couldn't be happier with the food , as a French woman that grew up around authentic french food and specialities , I was curious about the experience and every bites was heaven . Absolutely delicious and unique .
Kidney , tartar scallops and rabbit were prepared to perfection . Will return without hesitation ,
BEST
french style cooking restaurant I've tried in Bristol !!!!

Though they don’t have a brunch menu, having brunch at this location is something we’ve started to do pretty frequently with mates. In the summer you can eat outside in a nice covered area with plenty of seating. Peppercorn beef fillet is my favorite main plus all their desserts are delicious.
N.
Brilliant all round. Service was pleasant and fast. Food was excellent (oyster, pousin, sorbet).
Only criticism was it was very warm. Could do with some temperature control in hotter months.
D. B.
Had a great dining experience, sampling a variety of dishes. Good wine selection, and great value overall. We sat in the outside seating area, good atmosphere and friendly and relaxed service. Will be visiting again when we can find a table to book!
A. S.
Fabulous food and wonderful service. The portions are extremely generous and they also have an extensive drinks list. The restaurant is a short drive from the city centre but is is absolutely worth the trip. One of the best meals I've ever had.
A. H.
From arrival it was a pleasant experience, relaxed atmosphere and nice staff.
We had starters which were delicious.
I had rabbit for starter which I was pleasantly surprised as it's not commonly found in British restaurants. Similarly when it is, it's dry, but this was delicious, moist and tender.
There was an extensive wine list and the staff were not pretentious about which you picked and were very helpful in choosing.
Unfortunately we were so full from starters and mains we couldn't manage a dessert.
Overall a great experience.
Thanks, will be back sometime and perhaps have main and dessert next time 😋

Went here with my partner for an early valentine's meal as the 14th was booked. We went on the 10th and received great friendly service, ordered lovely glasses of wine and a very tasty meal with fantastic flavour. Little french is an intimate location and so I would definitely recommend it for couples.
We will come back :)

A great little restaurant that lives up to its reputation. Fantastic food in a nice quiet location. Freshly prepared, authentic French cuisine; delicious and not pretentious at all. The staff were fantastic and made the evening all that more enjoyable. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We started with Oysters, then bone marrow followed by the amazing cote de boeuf and fresh strawberries for pudding. If the weather's nice you can sit outside in a nice courtyard by the side of the restaurant. Would highly recommend but I know they are booked up for a while!

Definitely a good experience for my first try!
The food selection is varied and as far as I know, it changes constantly.
Personally, I went for the vegan option on that day as I was very curios - I am not vegan, but I like to experiment foods. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised as the food was simply amazing!
Also, the 'orange' wine I tried reminded me of the wine that my parents used to make at home when I was a little child.
Overall, if you like your food and wine, this should definitely be on your list of priorities!

Pleasant place with nice bread, good selection of wines, and very tasty well priced food. Kitchen can get a bit smokey, but food is hearty.

We spent my 50th birthday last weekend in Bristol (our first time visiting there) after seeing "Remarkable Places To Eat" on the BBC where Michel Roux Jr took Fred Sirieix to the city to show some foodie gems. So we had dinner at Littlefrench, and it was some of the best food which I've ever eaten. The mushroom soup in particular was probably the best soup we've ever eaten, and the mains of the beef fillet & the mussels really hit the spot. As for the puddings, the prune & Armagnac tart, & the chocolate mousse were to die for. But on top of that, the service was as good as it gets - they apologised for our mains taking longer than they hoped (but we didn't think anything of the delay which was what we might have expected), & they also moved us because they noticed my partner had a back & they offered to move us so that she would be more comfortable. The food is wonderful, the prices are more than reasonable, & you get FAR more than what you paid for. Go & pay it a visit. It is WELL worth your time & money.

We must tell you, the owner, and especially the chef that we had probably the best meal for years. I mean years. We are both avid foodies and both very capable of making fantastic food at home. But when you go out for a meal and you come across the absolutely fabulous meal we had today i feel i need to share with everyone. We had no fault with the venue, staff, service or food. Will definitely be travelling out of our way (we live in Cardiff) to return again. The praise has been extended to family and friends. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.....you have a brilliant chef.....it most definitely made my wife's 50th birthday one she'll remember. Very happy customers. Cheers
M. D.
Much appreciated
- lovely and friendly staff
- Drinks Menu is just amazing, so much choice and excellent wine available
- Quality and quantity of the food
- service and cosy place
- variety of the meny
Why only 4 starts:
- The rabbit was little bit overcook and the green beens not cooked
- we try the starter: imberico ham, as you can see on the picture, it is just a smoked gamon and this is not worth the price..
N. S.
Some lovely tasty food in a nice relaxed atmosphere, very happy to recommend and go again
R. H.
Wow! Seriously lived up to expectations. Absolutely incredible food, lovely and helpful staff without being too over the top and lovely wine.
D.
Really great food, nice ambience, and friendly staff. Need to pre-book for a while but definitely worth the wait. Reasonable price for the amazing taste as well. Will come back!
M. R.
The food was absolutely brilliant, every course was delicious. Really cute decor with a cosy atmosphere. The bottle of champagne that was recommended was fantastic. It felt quite rushed towards the end however as the staff were keen to get other guests seated. It wasn’t made clear to us from the beginning how long we had our table for, so we were having a leisurely meal for a special occasion. The waiter told us we had ten minutes just as we were halfway through our dessert which is a shame as we wanted to order a few more drinks. A good place to eat out but I wouldn’t recommend going for a special occasion.
B.
We had such a fabulous meal here. We received a warm welcome, the ambience was spot on and the service was attentive but not overbearing. Great drinks selection with something for everyone and the food was out of this world. The onion soup was a particular stand out as was the venison with peppercorn sauce. I have to say the presentation of the chocolate mousse made us laugh, it certainly could be served in a more appealing way but that being said it was gorgeous. Overall a fantastic evening and would absolutely return.
S. G.
Absolutely stunning food & great vibe on the outside terrace (heating pretty good!)
Great service, can’t wait to come back to sit inside… know it will be worth the 3 month wait!
S. K.
Bit dead outside in the courtyard. Food didn’t command the price tag. Thin sauce on the sweetbreads. Like that they keep the roe on the scallops. The aged cote de boeuf was quite tough. Service was excellent, they saw we needed bread to mop up the sauce and brought us some. Overall though, wish we’d just gone to little pantry instead.
B. S.
What can I say that hasn’t already been said, except this restaurant throughly deserves all the success it has had. Some breath-takingly gorgeous food.
A. C.
We had the very delicious cote de boeuf with a side of spinach and peppercon sauce. Simply put, we destroyed it. The staff were super chill but professional and the place didn't ever feel portentous. We will be back!
S. (.
Enjoyed a really good dinning 🍽 experience here. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly.
D.
Great experience, friendly vibe and calm atmosphere. Good choice of food and drink served by friendly and attentive staff. Good value. Safe COVID restrictions enforced. Well worth a visit suitable for all ages and tastes.
G. P.
Oof, what a restaurant! It was recommended by a colleague. When i went to book the was nothing available for months. I booked anyway and it was a nice surprise when it came around.
Has three dishes each with sides. I would describe them however theres no need. Anything you order here will be amazing!
The wine list is extensive, they even pair wine with dishes on the menu for you. However we just described the wine we like to the host/waitress lady ans she made recommendations. We have new favourite wine now! Something bee sting wine?! Lovely!
Highly recommend this restaurant :)
J. M.
I was recommended by my Son who had a great meal here, so we visited with high expectation for a Michelin Guide restaurant. It’s really cute and cosy but we were sat in one of the high alcoves with uncomfortable seating. The staff were great and very attentive. The scallops to start we’re very tasty but tiny. We both had lamb cooked pink which is great but mine was only just tepid not at all even warm so we’re the vegetables so I sent it back which meant my partner who said hers was just OK ate hers on her own and mine took to long to come back which meant we didn’t eat together. Not acceptable and mine when it came back was slightly warmer but not much. I never ask or seek compensation but not even a glass of Wine was offered in recompense. We often eat out and I was disappointed and have had better for the cost. I don’t think we’ll go back.
C. G.
Did not disappoint, food was incredible, wine was amazing and service was superb
G. C.
Absolutely amazing French food in a beautiful cozy setting, service was exceptional, extensive wine list. Shame it was 6 months to get a table! Will definitely be back.

A fabulous lunch on 26th Feb in gorgeous surroundings. The decor is quirky with a good sense of humour, so we immediately felt happy on entering. Service was relaxed but efficient with knowledgeable staff making good recommendations. We had the kidneys as a snack and they were absolutely to die for! Next time we'll order one each as the sauce was absolutely incredible! Starters were the Scallops, of which there were five that had been cooked in their shells, again with a lovely sauce. Cote de Boeuf for main served with a 50:50 split of fries and aligot, as recommended by our waiter and he was spot on. The aligot is not to be missed and the fries were deliciously crispy, whilst the beef, on the rare side of medium-rare was well-rested and delicious. Sadly neither of us had room for dessert, although the chocolate mousse, creme brulee, and prune and armagnac tart all looked gorgeous. We noticed other diners who had the onglet and the rabbit and the pork chop for mains and the meals all looked outstanding. Would thoroughly recommend and can't wait to return...
C. B.
Brilliant service, great pacing, exceptionally delicious food. Lived up to the hype.
G. S.
Delicious food- we thoroughly enjoyed it all. I’d recommend the Cote de Boeuf, I do not know how they make their fries so flipping amazing 😆😋
F. G.
Great experience for my birthday, lovely food and service. Would come back again
A. T.
Lovely decor, attentive & friendly staff who do seem genuinely happy and the food is exceptional.
Spent £108 for two starters, bread as a nibble, Cote du beouf for mains plus wine and a negroni to start.... excellent for the money.
P. J.
Went yesterday for late Sunday lunch.
Ove wanted to eat here for a while and it was worth the wait and the trip over the bridge from Cardiff.
Service was brilliant and so was the food.
I love offal so when I see kidneys and sweetbreads I'm like yes I'm happy.
Scallops were lovely oysters delicious cote de boeuf was a beauty..
ALIGOT delicious .fries and brocoli all good.
Creme brule was perfect.
A cracking bottle of Syrah from toscana was great value.
Can't wait to

Loved this place. A bit pricey but worth every penny. We went as a birthday treat for my partner. Booked two weeks in advance but could not get his birthday, so we settled for a Wednesday lunchtime slot. The place was packed. Waiting staff were lovely. Food delicious (even catered for a wheat-free vegetarian). Will definitely go again. Strongly recommemded. Extensive food choices, even more extensive wine list. The staff were being trained by a somellier, who seemed to do training visits regullarly. Even a simple bowl of soup was raised to dizzy heights of culinary delight. Gorgeous. Pudding portions were ENORMOUS.
s.
A really super lunch. Great service, food and wine. The best meal I have had in ages
M. K.
I live close by and have the pleasure of coming here regularly. If you’re seeking a little taste of La France, do visit… you’ll like it immensely!
K. H.
Pleasant French restaurant in Westbury Park. I had scallops (starter as a main course), olives and the sprout tops. Scallops were perfectly cooked with a delicous sauce, kept in their shells which was a nice touch.
The star for me though was the delicous sprout tops which had been grated i believe with pancetta pieces and in another delicous , sweet tangy sauce.
Others ate mussels, venison and beef which were all excellent.
We stuck to one course plus olives to start, two desserts, lots of bread, one bottle of wine and two beers, total for 4 people £139. Would probably allow another 20 for two full courses.
We had a table in the window which was perfect, tables are a little close if you want privacy and those in the raised areas are too tight unless you are petite!
T. H.
Amazing food - good service and wine. The cote de boeuf was outstanding, but not quite as goods as the sweetbread starter !
A. M.
Great tasting food and a nice selection of wines. Had steak tartare which had a lovely texture and flavor followed by Brill and vegetables with a decent sized chocolate mousse to follow
P. C.
What a place!
The food, the atmosphere and the service are all excellent.
The kids had proper meals little scallops and they were demolished! I had the makeral tartare, which was perfect and this was followed up by the shoulder of lamb, which I don't usually go for but this was excellent.
I would highly recommend and return when I'm back in Bristol!

Lunchtime experience.
Pleasant atmosphere and curated decoration, a nice setup.
Food was superb, good quality and presentation.
The waiting staff was ok.
S. D. P.
I personally really enjoyed the starters and my lamb. My wife loved her starters but didn't enjoy her chicken at all. The setting was really nice.
J. S.
Absolutely incredible. Food, wine, service all together made this a truly wonderful lunch out. Hugely generous in both portions and hospitality. We will definitely be back. Aligot!
L. A.
Wonderful little restaurant tucked away but definitely worth finding. Absolutely delicious lunch, we were stuffed! Dog friendly too :)
C. V.
Fantastic flavours from the refined menu to the fantastic fizz! Very low key relaxed vibes for our anniversary lunch.
R. W.
Five star experience.
Very professional staff,
Amazing chef's,
and fantastic food.
Looking forward to returning, again and again.

Went for dinner, seated outside in a covered courtyard. Atmosphere was relaxed with friendly and attentive staff. Quick service but it did not feel rushed, in fact there was a group still there from lunchtime at 5pm.
The menu had changed, compared to that on the website, but key dishes remained. We both thought the food was excellent - well balanced flavours and really generous portions. Not fussy or complicated, but delicious and good value considering quality and quantity. 3 courses was about 50 pounds per head with a shared bottle of wine. Both of us agreed we would return.
R. S.
My favourite place in Bath for breakfast/brunch. The quality of coffee there is outstanding and they offer a good selection of pastries and special dishes of high standards. The prices are of a good value.
N. R.
Consistently one of the nicest places to eat in Bristol. Great food and good service. 2 of us went for a three course meal, 2 cocktails and a bottle of nice wine for £125. Pricey but absolutely worth it.
J. C.
Excellent location , the staff were courteous, polite and fast without rushing anyone.
The FOOD was incredible we had Scallops & Bone Marrow to start and the Lamb & Beef for our mains, great tasting well portioned starters and the mains were great and a pretty large portion too.
The range of drinks on offer is better than most pubs.
Ample on street parking.
Well worth a visit!
L. R.
One of the best times my wife and I have had in a restaurant. Food amazing. Oysters. Scallops. Partridge. Gurnard. Two bottles of wine. Staff were fantastic and the man himself Mr. Freddy Bird had a chat and confirmed he is a top bloke. If you get chance please go and I hope you will enjoy the experience as much as we did. Take it easy people 🌈
I. W.
Great restaurant in Clifton. Friendly welcoming staff. Excellent menu on offer with a really good choice of wine and selection of beers. I had the schalops as a starter followed by the pork chops which were awesome. Would highly recommend this popular restaurant - you will definitely need to book well in advance.
M. J.
this restaurant is such a lovely place to go and eat {which the food is fabulous}, the atmosphere is amazing i think it saying something when we travel from Cardiff definitely 5 star from me
E. C.
Food excellent, friendly and helpful staff, although not very observant. We had a really enjoyable meal.
But Oh Dear, the Menus!!
We were a table of 6. We must have been given 15 sheets of closely-typed A4 paper, only one of which appeared to have food listed. In tiny writing. We were literally sharing reading glasses to decipher it. The other sheets were booze and - well I can't remember what else, except they were irrelevancies.
What is it with restaurants and cafes these days? They treat menus like gold dust. Not produced until you've been spotted sitting at a table for half an hour. Whisked away the minute you've placed your order.
The food was delicious, but all I remember is the bloody menus!
S.
Brilliant food, great service, impressive wine list. You won' t want to eat anything else for a few days!
N. M.
This is exactly my kind of restaurant - great food, lovely relaxed ambiance and friendly staff. Couldn't recommend it more highly.
M. &. M. K.
Wow what a wonderful way to start a birthday weekend! The lovely decor, friendly service and unpretentious atmosphere makes this place so enjoyable. The food is some of the most delicious we have tasted, compliments to the chefs. We left fit to burst but couldn’t possibly leave anything on the plate! Thank you so much, we will definitely be returning!
K. B.
Wow what a meal. Just go all out have the steak have the aligot. We are talking the kind of meal you would order on death row. Absolutely stunning. My husband had the chocolate mousse and said it was the best dessert he had EVER had. Two absolutely stuffed absolutely thrilled customers!
s. w.
Amazing food! One of the best in Bristol, should have a Michelin Star. I had the sweetbreads starter, incredibly tender meat with an amazing Madeira sauce. Main course was Lamb with a mint type pesto with haricot beans (I think) , worked really well and loved the experimentation, at least not something I'd had before. Dessert was the only thing that was average, creme caramel, I guess they are what they are. My partner however had the chocolate Mousse, it was incredible, best I've ever had by a large margin, texture was almost like a moussy type truffle and the chocolate was the perfect sweetness complimented with some cream, honestly if you go here 100% get the chocolate mousse. Service was also fantastic, friendly and polite but not waiting over you for your glass to empty like some Michelin Star places. Would fully recommend Little French!!
S. L.
Truly exceptional food, wine and service - can't wait to come back!
O. B.
We've been looking forward to coming here for quite some time. The food was great but the service was not, it took an age to order drinks, they didn't ask how our food was and we were left quite some time wondering if our order had been lost. As a birthday celebration we would definitely have spent more on drinks had anyone asked. Also, for a French restaurant it was strange not to be offered bread with the meals. Glasses and cutlery was also dirty and had to be returned. It's ashame that the front of house is letting down the team clearly working hard in the kitchen. Wouldn't be rushing back if I'm honest but maybe just got unlucky.
L. S.
Superb, French cuisine at its finest in a very intimate setting. The aligot (a type of cheesy garlic mash) is a must side dish, just so comforting! And the service was spot-on, very attentive and helpful guiding us with food and wine.
M. B.
Amazing. Superb restaurant, must try it. Can't wait to go back.
I. J.
Wow, wow and wow. Our third visit and all our friends have said how delighted they were to have gone there. The sweetbreads were to die for and the duck was fabulous despite being quite pink. The moules also good and a good selection of wines for most tastes, we had an excellent Fougeres red with the duck. Do have the chocolate mousse but the armagnac tart is a great back up. Service always with a smile, friendly and attentive.
B. T.
Amazing service, delicious food, great wine and a banging espresso martini.
Well worth the visit!
S. G.
The food here is absolutely incredible. My partner and I had three courses, and everything was amazing. The staff are all really lovely too.
Thanks for a great evening!
R. G.
A slice of France in Bristol. If you go you must have the Aligot followed by Chocolate mousse. We travelled from Kent to come here and was worth every mile. Thanks to the Little French team for looking after us.
S. S.
Very tasty food and great atmosphere. Staff were welcoming. Great choice of wines and spirits.
A. B.
Visited 5th Dec21 for lunch. Food and service were great. We had scallops, clams, cote de boeuf ,aligot and two great deserts. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.Thank you.
C. F.
An absolute gem of a restaurant the quality of the food was outstanding,. Can't recommend it highly enough.
T. H.
Although veg was on the raw side of al-dente (easily rectifiable), the meats, sauces and cool school service are exceptional.
a. p.
Met family here for a mid week treat and catch up. Wonderful restaurant, fantastic service. Delicious food, we all left repleat and happy. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
B. S.
The service was 5star and the food and wine devine, thank you so much for a lovely night out 🎂🇦🇺

We booked exactly 3 months in advance! Delicious menu and perfect service.. We started with White onion and truffle soup, Veal Tartare ,Scallops and pigeon..Two of us had pork chop ( big portion and absolutely delicious with amazing seasoning accompanied by creamed spinach ( very large portion) and the Aligot ( also very delicious) ..the other two shared Guineafowl which was a very generous portion ,beautifully cooked ,delicious skin ,again seasoned to perfection .. Lemon tart and prune Armanac sponge finished us off ..Definitely will return!
L. K.
Overall experience was good. Not my style of food. But staff, drinks and food was good
H. H.
We had the most amazing, delicious lunch yesterday. The food was so, so good and great value for money. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. We were impressed with the covid measures and felt safe the whole time (which is important because we're pretty cautious about that stuff). And the courtyard is so lovely that it's a nice place to spend a couple of hours, even on a cold, wet day. Thanks so much for a great time!
J. A.
Atmosphere and staff fabulous, fish was excellent. Chocolate mouse was to die for but is a two spoon pud! Would definitely recommend.
J. B.
Couldn’t fault the place, the 6 of us all absolutely loved the food and the staff were all fantastic. We were all so pleased that the chefs and staff got a clap from us at the end of the night. I don’t often leave reviews but felt this lovely little place deserved one 10/10 from us.
T. H.
Delicious lunch and setting we enjoyed as a treat - Seafood was delicious and fresh - Oysters, scallops, crab meat, fresh sourdough, steak and the bouillabaisse were all excellent. We sat outside in the courtyard but the main restaurant has a great look and feel, service was nice and friendly. My other half is not able to eat milk / dairy and had lots of options, she often finds French food a bit rich with butter etc but she enjoyed all the food.
S. B.
Have been wanting to visit here for some time and it did not let us down. Service was excellent, especially organising a smaller meal for my 2 year old granddaughter. Fillet steak amazing, aligot was incredible.
S. W.
Don't often give anyone full marks but credit where credit is due. Great service, great food and within walking distance for me. If you are lucky enough to get a table - enjoy.
G. T.
Me and my partner went to the littlefrench last evening for a birthday meal. The food was absolutely incredible. We had the scallops and sweetcorn soup to start, venison and duck for mains. All were superb. Less can be said for the waiting staff who seemed like they couldn't be bothered with us. It made it more frustrating when an older group were sat on the table opposite us and were given much more friendly attention. The staff may have more respect for their elders but I believe this should not be the case when serving customers. Furthermore, if we did not go to the bar to pay our bill we may of been sat waiting for a considerable amount of time as the waiters didn't have the time of day for us. This place could become an absolute jem with a little more effort placed into the waiting service.
M. P.
Lovely cosy restaurant with a fantastic selection of seasonal dishes. Great service and a huge list of drinks. We really enjoyed the food and the drink recommendation that went along with the dishes.
K. H.
Exquisite food and highly informed front of house staff on the food and wine menus. Definitely recommend the scallops for starters and you'll want to sop up every drip of the jus with some bread!
J. W.
Food superb as normal and despite the weather been a tad cold, the staff were helpful to rectify the situation. Great to see this place reopened and consistency of quality of food. I had the seasonal asparagus and the Rabbit for main course, can't fault it and I will be back
D. R.
Quite simply, excellent. Good portion sizes, well cooked, quality food. Looking forward to a return visit.
B. B.
Excellent food, excellent service, excellent ambience. Really good 1st class restaurant
H. H.
Had a lovely evening here with wonderful, unpretentious, delicious food and a well thought out wine list. From being warmly greeted at the door the service was attentive without being overbearing. There was a large menu choice, including gluten free options, that catered for our party. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and being local was an added bonus. Highly recommend.
B. Q.
A very pleasant lunchtime dining experience. Friendly, polite and attentive staff, good quality freshly prepared food, enjoyed in a cosy dining room where they were still able to provide sensible and safe Covid distancing coupled with good general precautions. (All staff wore masks, seating and tables were properly cleaned when diners departed).
We look forward to our next visit!
J. P.
I had very high expectations and sadly the food just didn't deliver. Positives are friendly staff and comfortable but the tables are quite close together. The food is certainly different but presentation is just not good. I was warned that the fish was on the bone but that was fine. It just didn't look appetising. The best thing was the sour dough! I am sorry to say that this restaurant has been over hyped and the food just isn't special
D. d. G.
Little French was delightful! The staff were great, the food was great, and the atmosphere was great. We particularly appreciated the help deciding which wine to have with our food and which digestifs to have after dinner (they recommended we have two different ones, which they brought in 4 glasses so we had a perfectly shared, argument free half of each!)
Re: the COVID; we were seated away from other people, the table had hand sanitiser on and was well cleaned before we were seated, and the staff were mindful when serving us. Very well managed, thank you!

So, reservation at 8:45. We showed up a little early and had to wait inside. After 10 minutes or so I finally stopped someone and asked for a drink. When the drinks came we were informed that the kitchen was closing which sorta freaked me out. We were looking forward to a leisurely dinner and didn't want to feel rushed. Once seated the wait staff was patient and kind. They clearly saw my apprehension about being rushed and smoothed it over like silk. The food was excellent and in the end they made us feel at ease. I can't wait to back for those superb oysters!!

A pleasant relaxed atmosphere and good food.

What a great local restaurant! The food was fantastic.
We had a couple of bar snacks and then the duck and lamb main courses, we couldn’t fault either.
Definitely worth getting a couple of sides as the frites are crispy and salty, and some way between straw fries and French fries. The creamed spinach in my opinion is the only way to get one of your 5 a day.
Our waitress was lovely and the staff took time to chat to us, even Freddy was in and out of the kitchen delivering the odd plate and talking to customers. Super evening!

Since littlefrench opened about 6 weeks ago we been 3 times; we are experienced foodies and we'd like it if this became our regular local go-to place. However, it has to deliver on all fronts and consistently to earn this very special place on our foodie list.
So far we can't fault the food; it's different, confident, full of flavour & showcases quality ingredients in a menu that changes regularly. It also happens to have a few lovely wines from my favourite wine region! Excellent so far - yes!
The 'but' is the service! At the moment littlefrench is like a cat with 9 lives & they've already used 3! Every visit has been lacking a basic welcome, smiles, warmth, personality, humour, efficiency & any attention to detail from the front of house team; with staff who always seem to be either brand new or knackered.
This review is meant as kindly encouragement to littlefrench to get it sorted, because they have the potential to be fabulous! In the near future we hope to be able to update our experience.
P.S. If you are booking a table for 4, make sure you're not booked onto one of the raised booth tables as it's far too small if you are planning to eat & drink!

Went to Little French yesterday for a celebration lunch - 8 of us. It was brilliant from start to finish. The food was excellent - not even a smidgen of a complaint from any one of us. It has a lovely atmosphere; we were welcomed and well taken care of by the staff.
Would also comment that the prices were very reasonable. I was paying for our table and when handed the bill, my first comment was that it did not seem enough and were they sure that everything was on there! Everything was on there, so very reasonable.
Thank you to the whole team. I will be back.

I’m not one to normally write reviews, but I feel this restaurant fully deserves one from me. We’d booked a table for my birthday celebrations and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The service was excellent & warm, the ambience was just right & the food was the best I’ve had for a very long time. I would definitely recommend to any of my friends and family. Also to note, one of our party is Celiac and they catered extremely well for their needs. Definitely up there with the best in Bristol. Well done.

Simple french food, very well cooked however, not that amazing to travel too far for.
I found the wine list to be extremely limited, if you wanted wine by the glass; a single white and a few reds. I was also little disappointed by the slection of ciders (which apparently was meant to be extensive) being limited to just two.
I appreciate these are strange times and the restaurant front door was wedged open to allow airflow (although it seemed more for the staff who were serving thr outside diners. Being sat directly in front of the door was extremely unpleasant as it was so cold out. Really this is something the restaurant should be making customers aware of who are being seated near the door.
The heating was also off which did not help for customer comfort. I would suggest the restaurant management get in touch with a HAVC engineer who can advise on filters that can be fitted to the heating and aircon.

I couldn't recommend this place more. The food was perfection, great vibes to the restaurant, friendly and helpful staff and it felt relaxed & private.

Had a beautiful evening here, the food was spectacular i had the courgette flower and duck breast for my main both were to die for! the wine was gorgeous, and the service was attentive but not over bearing. Definitely will be returning soon

After seeing littlefrench featured in Extraordinary Places to Eat, we were fortunate to secure a reservation
Food did not disappoint. Ordered the:
• Sourdough bread and butter
• pigs head croquettes
• milk fed lamb sweetbreads
• Cote de boeuf
• Aligot
Food was well prepared and delicious
Service was attentive although drinks did take a little long
The chocolate mouse is divine and a perfect ending to a great meal
There is parking at the rear of the restaurant and some street parking at the front although it’s time limited
We will definitely be returning customers

Excellent Meal, & Service .
But felt things were Rushed rather quickly!! . Otherwise Excellent .

I’ve been looking for a local French restaurant for a while so was quite excited. Was a little disappointed on arrival to see the menu of the day was very similar to the menu I had previewed a week before. Not to worry there was plenty on there that appealed. Service on arrival was very welcoming and made to feel relaxed. Shared the signature lamb which was very tasty, would have preferred steamed vegetables and expected to have not had to order the additional frites, as would have expected a puréed potato or something similar to accompany the meal. Pudding was disappointing, especially after myself and the table next to us had to wait 10 minutes for the waitress to stop talking socially to the table opposite. Chocolate mouse was rather oversized and clumsily served with cream. A smaller, more intense flavoured mouse with perhaps a biscuit on the side would have been better. Overall a little disappointing and would sadly not rush back

Great food and wine and lovely friendly staff - attentive but not in your face. We had mackerel tartare, croquette, hake and mousse au chocolat - all beautifully presented and delicious. Everything was well paced despite the fact that the restaurant was almost full when we arrived. Highly recommend
J. C.
Great food, great service - food beautifully presented with an eclectic wine list (not just French - good spread from Europe and New World)
Really attentive and helpful staff.
Heartily recommended, if you can get a table! 😎
D. H.
Everything we ordered was perfection. Delicious food
J. B.
Lovely restaurant, generous portions, great tasting food. Will be back. Aligot and chocolate mousse A1.

Now this is a star indeed , close your eyes and you are in Paris at a fine Bistro, excellent food, good wine, all in all my favorite where I will dine as often as I can
W. D.
Great food cooked well, good menu, helpful support for a plant-based eater, splendid wine list and excellent service.

We were looking forward to this meal with great anticipation but were sadly disappointed on the whole. I lived in France for a number of years and was relishing the thought of revisiting time spent in bistros.
The decor feels a bit confused and the tables being so close to one another was less convivial, more awkward.
The service in the whole was warm and welcoming, however I was confused when our aperitifs were incorrect, perhaps down to misunderstood pronunciation.
My partner had the scallops to start which were unfortunately gritty although the flavour on the whole was good. My goats cheese curd with marinated leeks and carrots was very underwhelming.
I ordered pot au feu which was on the whole, not bad but certainly not to the standard I was hoping for, especially at the price.
On the positive side, my partner's hake was very well cooked and the side of aligot was delicious and well balanced.
Deserts were again, quite dull and disappointingly the caramel sat atop the creme caramel was burned.
We couldn't understand why most of the crockery was chipped.
We REALLY wanted to like this place but would hesitate to come back.

Extremely friendly staff, extremely good food, extremely good value for money, relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere . Not much more you could ask for. Would recommend highly!
A. W.
Superb food and excellent service, will be returning soon.

Excellent lunch time venue for group of six, covid safe. The scallops and lamb were superb
Friendly staff and happy atmosphere

Superb French-style bistro food. Relaxed, confident, knowlegable staff. Not cheap but very good value for money. We'll be going back.

Fantastic!!
Great cocktails, especially the daiquiri! Super food and great service.
S. B.
We had an enjoyable dinner but I wasn't bowled over by it. The parsley soup was tasty and the moules marinieres and chips very good. The strawberries and chantilly cream was just that - a bowl of sliced strawberries, nothing extra and costing over £6. I had a couple of glasses of a delicious white wine. My husband's courgettes starter was good, the duck main was quite ordinary and slightly overcooked. The chocolate mousse was a huge, unsubtle portion, poorly presented. It tasted good but the way it was presented and the volume was quite off putting. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere is great. We'll give lunch a try but I can't say it lived up to the Times review.
a. m.
We had a lovely lunch here on a rainy friday afternoon. The food I couldn't fault, the flavours were excellent and choice superb. The wine selection was extensive and well priced, and the ambiance, every table packed, great deco and a real buzz to the place.
But the reason I cant give it a 5 is the service
They didnt have enough front of house, 30 minutes for drinks, an hour until first course was served and 2 and a half hours all in all. I think if you are charging £20 + for a main, there really should be someone running the floor. The length of visit wasnt an issue, but the lack of attention was.
Would definitely go back, I just hope they look at staffing levels next time.
G. M.
The quality of service, food and overall experience was excellent. I thought I would struggle as a vegetarian, but I did have a choice!
A lovely evening, fair price and I have already recommended to friends and family
M. J.
What a fabulous experience, food was first class , the staff were so friendly would highly recommend this restaurant
I. S.
Amazing cant speak highly enough of the food or staff - thank you x

Amazing food, fantastic service. They fit us in at really short service and couldn't have been nicer.
Seafood was cooked to perfection!
M. H.
Lovely simple French food cooked perfectly. Fantastic wine list as well with great staff. Really nice interior design as well. Definitely can recommend.
R. T.
Good food very friendly staff but only outdoor dining due to covid-19 restrictions. Liked size of the servings as well.
R. J.
I've been fortunate enough to have eaten in some lovely restaurants over the years but Littlefrench is quite possibly the best yet. Amazing food and service ♥️
I. H.
Lovely to be back. Great food and service. A little cold outside because the heater didn't work but still enjoyable.
D. H.
The cuisine is a real treat from from starter to dessert. The quality is outstanding and the service attentive and friendly.
If you don't like French cuisine, this place could change your mind.
A. C.
Good restaurant. Scallops were incredible! I’m from Spain where we have incredible good sea food. But the ones I had in Little French where the best I ever tried.
J. E.
Great food and friendly service. Try the scallops, croquettes and lamb. Delicious wine too!
S. J.
Great food. I loved my rabbit dish. However while we are eating there’s strong smoke from the kitchen, not sure it’s the right feeling you want to get from an expensive restaurant.
R. M.
Beautiful place to eat, wonderfully fresh pastries, delicious food and perfect service. One of a kind restaurant, as it's the only good brunch place in the area. 10/10, would definitely recommend.
A. T.
Absolutely fabulous, amazing food, amazing staff and well done to Bov for excellent table service.

Great Monday lunch. Delightful restaurant in Bristol suburb Westbury Park. About time someone did some good french fare. Reasonably priced, knowledgeable staff and a real enthusiasm for their venture. Good luck!
B. N.
Lovely food. Interestingly, the French wine selection was lacking with lots of young reds.
P. E.
Fantastic lunch. The mussels were a great special and can't fault the staff. Great friendly welcome and we were well looked after.
I. F.
Excellent. Quite excellent. Cooking, service, wines, atmosphere. We had the turbot, king of fish, between two. Beautifully cooked. Don't go.

V. C.
Outstanding restaurant, the food is superb with a convivial feeling with brasserie atmosphere. One of the best meals I've ever had thanks to Freddie and his brilliant team!
A. S.
Good food, but small tables packed so closely together you are actually bumping elbows with the people on the next table. Front of house staff didn't know what Littet was even though it was in the middle of the self. Time slots of 1.5 hr hardly very French
R. C.
Small and intimate but large on service and quality of food. A dining experience not to be missed.
J. H.
Exceeded expectations - food, service, venue. Loved it. Nothing to fault. We will look forward to going back 😊

We couldn't squeeze in a trip to Little French last time we were in Bristol, so were delighted to be back in town again. We had a wonderful Sunday lunch - the olives were some of the best I've ever tasted, and the aligot was a particular highlight!
Nice to see a mix of regulars and first-timers in, and the service was very friendly without being overbearing - and it's always impressive when a waiter can make an on-the-fly wine recommendation that turns out to be spot on. And at under £70 for what was essentially three courses with drinks, can't complain at the price either.
D. F.
A truly fabulous lunch. The lambs kidneys were my favourite part of the meal however the cote de bouef was the best I’ve ever had. Great service, great food and a superb wine list. Incredible!!
