Met some ex works colleagues at the Spice Mahal. Excellent food and service. Staff are friendly and nothing was too much trouble. It was very busy for a Thursday evening but service was still very good. Reasonable prices at £25 each.. Will definitely go back soon.

One of the best Indian restaurants around for sheer taste and quality. In my opinion no other restaurant in the local area matches the authenticity when it comes to the food where others places dishes were clearly frozen and reheated. Don’t be fooled by the dated decor the food is delicious and the staff always hardworking and professional!

One of the best curry houses in the area. We’ve tried others in the area and you will not find anything better. The staff are super friendly and polite. The food is fresh and authentic and the flavours of different dishes can be easily distinguished where all others fail in the local area with authenticity the Spice Mahal is amazing!

Lovely friendly restaurant, but on two consecutive occasions the food has been extremely salty. This has been with several different dishes. Not sure if there may have been a change of chef 🤷🏻‍♂️.

6 of us only 1 error where a lamb dish was requested and a vegetable dish was dished out. Once realised a second meal was sorted. Ran out of alcohol free except 1 brand tasted awful. Other than that we had a very enjoyable evening.

The food at the Spice Mahal is excellent. This is the best Indian restaurant locally and we have used this for takeaway during lockdown. When open as a restaurant it is bustling and the service and food were always great. Looking forward to another meal at the restaurant soon.

Always love the food. Not the most friendly of staff hence not 5 stars but they are efficient. I always have the chicken or fish options as sometimes the lamb can be a little tough but the chicken is always delicious. Recommend booking as always popular. My favourite is the Achari. We drove from Cheltenham especially to go back. Didn't disappoint food wise.

After not visiting for a while, we were delighted to book and eat at the Spice Mahal to find it as tasty and enjoyable as always. New decor (that's how long ago it's been!) and very quiet that night, but worth booking ahead just in case. Unrushed friendly service and excellent fresh-cooked food, with easy parking when takeaways spread through an evening. Highly recommended - we won't leave it as long in future. ;o)

A really nice little indian restaurant, its just out in the middle of nowhere. Food is good, staff are attentive and there's a good selection of beer to accompany your meal. Parking can get a little crowded when its busy, especially if you get a large party in, say a work do, who've all come in their own cars.

First thing you notice about the Spice Mahal is it's location.....it's a bit remote. It's not difficult to find but keep your eye out for the sign. Next is the parking. It has a car park that for it's the restaurants capacity is quite small. This has obviously been an issue in the past as a member of staff will tell you were to park. Our group was very large so we ended up blocking other group vehicles in...not a major problem but something to be aware of. Inside the restaurant is long and narrow with nice decor. The tablecothes, cutlery and seating were all clean and laid out neatly. The menu had a large range of choices.....which is usually a bad thing for me because I take forever to decide. 😁 Our group consisted of about 20 people. I thought that would result in a delay before the food would come out, especially since there were a few other smaller groups there. I was pleasantly surprised at the speed my food arrived. Not so fast that preparation has been rushed but fast enough that nobody had been looking at their watches wondering what's going on. The food itself was very good with ample portion sizes. The tables do fill up very quickly with plates of rice, pans of various curries, other plates with naan breads on....it can get very cramped if you throw drinks and plates to eat off in there as well. This has been a problem at every restaurant I've been to so I don't really see it as an issue. Overall my experience here was very good and I'd definitely have no qualms about returning in the future.

Great for a relaxing meal nice atmosphere a very large selection of Indian meals and very good portions.booking a must but you can order a takeaway with a ten percent discount.service is good and does take awhile as they cook each meal to order. Defiantly recommend.

If you like Indian food this is the best place for miles! The restaurant is intimate and friendly, and they do a 10% discount on takeaway, which even on the busiest evenings takes around 40 minutes to prepare - recommend you therefore phone your order in advance. Garlic chicken Bhuna is my personal recommendation. Also vegetable khorma is nice if you have somebody who prefers vegetarian options.

Best indian meal we've had, service fantastic so friendly there too, not rushed in fact we were asked if we wanted our main meal or if we wanted to wait 5, 10 minutes, price was very good. Very busy it was too. Always wanted to go to this restaurant as it looks great from outside wasnt disappointed either, I've passed it many times but always thought it would be expensive how wrong was I. We will definitely be going back again. Thank you for a great meal and service.

Consistently excellent food with genuine authentic home style dishes on the chefs specials. The Naga Chilli is very hot but very tasty. The Shimla (lamb) is bit special very tasty not spicy as is the Methi dish. The staff serve you, ask if you want more drinks when yours are empty, efficient and friendly. Perfect for groups, families, couples or by yourself, young or old. It all fits together nicely in a lovely rural setting. For me, to date, this is the best Indian food served in the south west. Top marks, much respect.
