Nice restaurant, staff very welcoming and efficient Papadums and sauces were good Starter (lamb chop) was good, same for main plate (Naga masala) but I expected something hotter / spicier Menu says that naga masala is « madras hot » but I would say that it was medium (max) Rice and naan were just ok. Restaurant can accommodate large group , there are different rooms so it is not noisy. Toilets could be cleaner, floor was very slippery

The food is authentically Indian and can't be beaten. The nan bread is exquisite, I couldn't stop eating it. The service is calm and friendly. We didn't reserve a table. It's a big place (converted pub) with lots of room. Lots of parking space too.

The service is polite, there are a lot of staff, I mean a lot! One thing I would say is that I felt rushed. If you haven't seen someone for a while, you want to catch up, choosing menu items after 1 minute isn't going to happen. Overall, the food is good and I particularly liked the naan. The portions are adequate, temperature and taste are good. If you are looking for a different place to try it's worth giving a go and it's pretty standard fare for an Indian. Very middle of the road.

We had a lovely meal, the restaurant is a former pub so there is plenty of space but if does get busy. We had to wait 30mins for our mains after finishing our poppadoms but it was worth it. Will make this our go to Indian now .

Whilst I personally am not a huge fan of Indian food I still highly enjoyed what was on offer. It was quiet when we went though I have heard it can be busy on holidays and such. The waiters were friendly and the food was quick to arrive. I particularly recommend the meat samosas, which now that I am writing this I want more of.

Stunning meal, I recommend the ginger chicken for anyone who isn't great with the hotter curries, it's a nice warm heat, not overpowering, rather than chilli fire if that makes sense! lovely atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. Can't wait to go back!

Table booked for 8pm, wasn't ready until 8.40pm. It was nearly 10pm before we had ordered our food. It was almost too busy . Food was tasty, mine could have been warmer, but was too hungry to send it back!

This is easily my favourite Indian in Bristol! Me and my family have been coming here for years and it's consistently amazing quality, both takeaway and eating in. We will eat here at least twice a year, and have a fair few takeaways as well, we have never been disappointed. Dining in I've been part of large celebration parties and small tables, the service is outstanding regardless and always efficient. In terms of food the curry is always loaded with meat, perfect levels of spice and the sides are always delicious! Can't recommend enough, the staff are always friendly and attentive with the great dishes on the menu to match! I'd recommend the Saag Aloo, King Prawn Butterfly and Lamb Kofta for sides and starters but you really can't go wrong!

It's adequate. This is a pretty average Indian restaurant, the service was fine, the waiters hovered about a bit making me feel a little bit uncomfortable. The food was fine, a prawn Puri, and a lamb Bhuna with garlic Nan, nothing to complain about, but nothing out of the average. The cost was a little higher than I'd consider average but not much. The word Average seems to be a consistent theme here. Don't be put off, but don't expect above average.

I've been going to the Taj ever since it first opened. But after several years I still make the effort to travel from Chepstow to the Taj, even if it is just for just a take away. I've always received a warm welcome and have never had a bad meal, although sometimes the odd member of staff can come across as a little offish.

Although the setting is nicer than most Indian restaurants the food is not bad but not exceptional either. Like most it is way over salted. Perhaps because of the setting, the prices are over-inflated too. Staff are friendly.

This Indian restaurant find its home inside an old country pub, which is a welcome change to some of the modern curry houses that you find in the centre of Bristol. The staff are friendly and in abundance, you wont need to look for someone to take your next drink or another round of Poppadoms. There is a wide range of curry choices, however I recommend sticking to the Chef Specialities which has something for everyone. As mentioned it isn't the cheapest but I do believe it is worth the money.

We liked it but be warned and very careful. We went there for a take-away. The food was very nice, different and appetising except that it was all swimming in grease. Even the onion bhaji's were so greasy the bag they were in was dripping with it. The containers leaked into the bag they put it all in (we were careful to keep them upright), we and everything around us were covered in turmeric coloured grease. We didn't eat all of the food so put some into the fridge. The fridge got stained. The plastic tablecloth got stained. Someone's clothes got stained, our fingers got stained, our cool bag got stained and everything else we used got stained. We ordered six spicy popadoms but when the food was picked up, they turned out to be plain ones. We told them about it and they graciously gave us two more plain ones that no-one wanted. Just be careful. I'm sure it's lovely to eat there but take-away? No. Much too much trouble. Next time we visit Winterbourne we will go to the Raj.

Great food! And the Tuesday night banquet is a bargain! They were trialling a new starter the last time we went. Chicken tikka with a sweet sauce served on a flatbread. It was delicious and I hope it makes it to their normal menu.
