First time visiting as I happened to be in the area and took a chance I'd get a table on a busy Saturday night. The lovely staff couldn't have been more welcoming, the food was delicious and the desserts are stunning. Thank you Kate, Erin and Marlee and the rest of the team for such a lovely evening. I will definitely return.

Not a place I'd choose to eat but the location was convenient. Sadly the service was ehm, not the best. Go and order inside, sauces are on the window, sort of barking orders. The food was small, the tiniest piece of chicken breasts topped off with burnt piece of bacon, it was bitter. I actually thought it was a child portion but didn't question it. Perhaps things are more expensive so the portions are smaller?? I was actually really hungry and this didn't satisfied me, lol. I expect it's normal standard for a place like this you know what you get like a wether spoons type. I guess cheap and cheerful.

Fantastic food!!! We had halloumi fajitas, a mixed grill, nachos and a sandwich… lots of choice on the menu to suit each of us. Service was kind, friendly and professional and although not the speediest, the waitress was great to say she was doing it all!! Great atmosphere in the pub too with some soft music and all very clean and tidy. Enjoyed our visit and would come again.

Seriously needs more staff the current staff are really good but run off their feet and mistakes are made ie wrong steak cooked incorrectly and frankly inedible, bacon cheese forgotten on Hunters chicken and no onion rings on burger etc.plus over an hour to wait 😒

Staff friendly Reason for 3 stars, we both had jerk chicken skewers with rice, chicken was plain chargrilled no spice added to it at all, which was disappointing, would have complained but we had to be somewhere else so did not have enough time.

They were a bit short of things no steak only 5oz had no peppercorn sauce only diane sauce one steak undercooked by the time they brought our sauce the 2 meals were lukewarm, they did give us a free sweet or drink each so the waitress did try her best for us .

It was the opening day of the pub after it had been renovated and I must say it looked very clean and fresh. The staff were all extremely polite and professional especially Lucy behind the bar. The food was very good, hot and served on time. My only complaint was that the toilets were slightly grubby with paper on the floor and waste in the toilet bowls. That said we all had a lovely time and were made to feel welcome.

Fantastic value meal - I was actually shocked at the quality of the mixed grill my friend and I had tonight. The meat was all high quality and lean, with the steak was cooked exactly how we asked - perfection. It was less than a tenner and came with fried egg with tasty orange yolks, flat mushroom, grilled tomato and chips or salad. Served on a sizzling cast iron skillet atop a wooden board. Staff were also very pleasant. Very clean establishment with staff constantly cleaning surfaces with sanitiser. Definitely worth trying, especially with great options in their extensive menu. The lady taking our order even asked if we had any food allergies or special dietary requirements! They also have a great selection of drinks along with special offer cocktails at two for £6.95. There is on site parking, though not very big, however there is on street parking in abundance. What more can I say?! Definitely a winner.

Ordered a Guinness and a chicken dish. The Guinness was terrible, didn't taste right at all. They did change it without question. Waited 35min for food and it came out burnt and lukewarm. I would try again as it's well priced and they did change the Guinness but I can't give it any more than a 3. Would have been a 2 if they didn't sort the Guinness.

Went as we had a voucher but when they scanned it, it said it had been used (It had not) but not a problem the bar lady waited while I tried to do it on the app but I had no signal so she said I could use her voucher!! Came here for the first time and I don’t think I will be coming back. I have passed by this place a few times and it look lovely from outside and this is why we went. When we arrived for Sunday lunch the card machine wasn’t working. Luckily, the app was accepting card payments, otherwise we wouldn’t have stayed. Also nowhere was mentioned that the app works with cards. The drinks were nice but the food not so much. It was average taste for this pricing. I mean, for 2 burgers and 2 pints we paid £25, feels a bit too much for the quality of food and considering this is kinda local pub. And other thing I didn’t get, was why the burger meals are served in huge plates. The portion of chips looked tiny in this humongous plate. 😬

Good food, good prices and good pub. The staff were friendly and quickly corrected the order when they delivered the wrong food. The food was typical of most chains and hot and fresh. Lots of different spaces to find somewhere comfortable to eat or socialise and reasonable parking space. There is some outside space though the pub is on a busy junction and we preferred to sit inside.

The place is family friendly but it does lack in childrens activities and play areas. The whole place looks nice and clean. There is an app for this pub but the table service doesn't currently work but should be up and running in the near future. I will definitely be happy to return here.

We've just returned home from a visit to the Blue Bowl and, as it's a Wednesday evening, it wasn't too busy. The service we received was faultless even though there was a problem with one of our six meals but this was sorted immediately and replaced with a freshly cooked dish within minutes. The drinks are reasonably priced, the food is good 'pub food' and provide value for money and the staff were really accommodating. We will definitely be visiting again in the not too distant future.

My partner and I go to this pub to watch football as it has BT Sport. Perfect for us as it's a relaxed environment. We both ordered food on our visit yesterday which was excellent and very good value for money. Staff are polite and friendly. Occasionally service can be a little slow but they do their best just maybe need an extra pair of hands during busy periods.

Didn't even get our food tonight! Told it would be an hour's waited - accepted. After an hour an 10 mins saw table next to us served who'd ordered after us. Queried barman to be told they couldn't find our table! Couldn't find it???? They put it there!!! Table 22 on our receipt. We accepted a refund as it would be another 15 mins before our food was ready - 10pm - we were past it. Waitress came out twice with a starter we hadn't ordered about an hour apart. Truly bizarre. Would have given one star but last month we had a lovely meal and praised the waitress and asked her to praise the chef - she was ecstatic. This place really has been hit and miss for us over the past 10 years, our local. A real shame for us.

I come here regularly with my mum who is a small picky eater. I nearly always have a steak of some sort. The food is very good. Today I had my order put on the table within 15 mins of order. Unfortunatley my steak which I have cooked rare was completely inedible. I went to the waitress and let her know, she had a look and took it away. I was presented with a new meal within 10 minutes and she made a point of checking that it was OK. I have never had a bad steak here but today I was very fortunate but to have staff who could deal with this situation and make good without any fuss was a credit to you. Nice Sizzler pub on Hanham High Street. Nice food and choice of menu. You can book a table by phone or on-line. Service was quick and staff were friendly and helpful. They have children's toys at the end of needed. The car park isn't huge and gets full up quite quickly. There is an outside seating area at the back and on the side.

Food is nice, but have had issues with pre ordered food being incorrect. I really hate that there is no full sugar coke/Pepsi available here, I have allergies to the sweeteners in the diet ones, and I know many who avoid them, so we often give this place a miss now which is a real shame.

The veggie sausages are real good and the role cheese cake exceptionally good!!!! As a family or as a couple we love coming here it’s not fine dine experance, it’s a pub with good food and friendly atmosphere at prices which are affordable, but the quality and quantity of your meals are so good here, nothing to much trouble. Example, I wanted a mixed grill with veggie sausages because I don’t like pork sausages, wasn’t an issue the staff are helpful and happy 😊

Sizzling pub that has a car park to the rear. Toilets at to the left as you walk in from the car park. It has outside tables but there's no view as it's right next to a main rd and traffic lights. Food is nice although they add onions to all the sizzling dishes to make the noise. So hopefully you best like onions. Prices are ok and on par to others in the area. You can reserve tables if requested.

Great place. Was busy here tonight. We spent over £150 between 6 of us 3 courses each and bottle of wine too really great value and a cosy place. Only down side to this place was the coustomers who spoke to the staff like dirt, my husband was very upset by this but this don’t understand how and why people think it’s acceptable to speak to people the way they do sometimes. Uncalled for, rude and clearly brought up incorrectly. Manners don’t cost money. We will be sure to return thank you blue bowl waitresses and waiters, credits given where’s it’s due. Went to the restaurant 12th evening around 5.30 and foid was great. But the servuce qas really badly disgisting. At the bar went to order young male always serving and few customers waiting while waitress middle age around middle 30s or late 30s was eating front of customers and when she came to our table she drop the cutlery and went. We were surprised. When she bring the food again she drop them on the table and didn't bring any plates and very rude tone she said enjoy. Really !!!! We are coming to eat and we pay for our food. We didnt make any drama and confront we jist ate and went home. Lets see if we come back. Friendly young male came and apologise and gave us plates. If you don't like to work hospitality you have to change your job. If you treat your customers well they will come back otherwise you'll loose your customers. Hope management will see this. You guys have nice food. But ruin name because of service. Thank you.

Just moved to the area and we’re exploring when we came across the blue bowl, at the time we got here there were staff planting flowers and making the place look nice, it looks like it’s well looked after. We enjoyed a couple of lovely drinks and for so cheap! Compared to London prices I feel like we’re living a dream in Bristol. Can you see where I’m coming from here people of BS15! Get off your high and mighty, poor your own drinks. Cook your own food! The blue bowl was outstanding on Saturday! So more so I’m sat in here on table 32 with my husband and 2 children for the 2nd day in a row and guess what. It’s once again very busy. And once again 5* service. Service has always been good too. On Tip I would give the Sizzler is - Why dont you do table numbers like Weatherspoons (oops swear word, competitor). You always ask where I sit and i tell you. My nearest local has been a pub/drinking established since the English Civil war, so check your history book for the dates concerned. The name is derived from I believe a Roman bowl found close by and now in Bristol Museum (I think). When diferent owners purchased it some while ago the tried for a different name but the locals would have non of it, and so the pub sign was changed back to "TheBlueBowl". Cheers everyone!. MfCrtd.
