We hired the restaurant here for the drinks reception and meal for our wedding here this summer and it was brilliant! All the staff - every single one, reception, management and servers - were extremely friendly and helpful. The building is beautiful, the food was great, they pulled out the stops for some picky children. Highly recommend!

Very nice spot, private cozy space. We DJ here for a 30th birthday party, and was offered some food. There was a some Caribbean options on the menu like rice and peas and jerk chicken. So, it was not authentic as the rice and peas needed so much more ingredients like coconut cream, thyme etc. and the jerk was just seasoned chicken breast. Jerk seasoning is not just a flavour it includes so much more, its how the chicken is marinated, cooked and obviously tastes. We would visit again and try something different. The bar staff are amazing!

We had our wedding at the square club in early October and my gosh what a day it was! Everyone at the square certainly deserves a bonus cause they are just fantastic. Niamh was brilliant at helping me with planning and esuring the day ran smoothly with her team. The food is also excellent. It really made our day. If you want a intimate wedding with a big party, the square is exactly where you should host it. Its beautiful and fun! We will be back for dinner soon!!

Thoughtful and friendly staff (thanks manager Hannah), friendly environment, stunning food (we had a 2 course meal and it was a lovely fine dining experience) and overall just a very pleasant evening worth returning for. We experienced a very thoughtful evening last night. I booked a table for 5 for a birthday meal inside (the Square Kitchen). The restaurant was closed for a wedding booking downstairs, but very kindly honoured our booking after receiving my online booking for a birthday dinner :) When we arrived, our table was very nicely set out and we were welcomed with bday prosecco drinks, which we thought was special. We highly recommend this to anyone and will be returning with more friends and family soon :)

Went to a stand up comedy gig here organised by Omari Douglas , a welcoming and charming bloke who ran another comedy gig this week in Portland Square. He has an idiosyncratic line in standup which by chance I have now heard three times. The downstairs venue is great for performance but the seats weren't arranged so the audience could see the stage and there was no lighting on the comedians' faces which is essentiol in standup. I got locked in the toilet due to a defective lock which was quite frightening because it was hard to communicate through the door. Finally another guest let me out using a tool from her handbag. I reported this to the young woman on the bar who showed no interest at all so someone else will get locked in today no doubt.

Great venue for any type of function! Spent NYE there and I would definitely do it again next year! It is a private members club. The vibe is very posh and elegant but can come across as snobby but I could easily see myself joining. Benefits are great. Food and drink were covered in the cosy of the ticket, therefore I am unable tell you the costs. The staff were extremely friendly.

Always thought this place was a hotel so have been missing out. Entrance is almost spa like with funky decor and a projector playing waves on the wall. Food was very good, was a little concerned it would be small portions but there was more than enough and left completely satisfied. So we came to a wedding from plymouth and asked there was a bar tender who made my fiancee and i a black russian which was off menu and abit of random request . I was hands down the best drink ive ever had anywhere in the world chocolate shavings and the works ! Our wedding and event band, The Shuffles Band from Bristol, were booked to play a wedding at The Square Club last weekend. We get to see a lot of venues. If you are looking for a cool wedding venue in the city The Square Club is up there amongst the best. Lots of great rooms to drink cocktails and listen to the band. Staff were all friendly and super helpful. The rooms all look fantastic. We would recommend The Square Club to anyone looking for a venue for their wedding or event.

Came for an evening meal on Tuesday and the food was amazing. I was so well looked after by Amy who explained the menu to me and recommended the cauliflower brûlée which is something like I’ve never tried before, but so spectacular. My wild mushroom main was also delicious, will definitely come back next time I am in Bristol.

Booked last minute for Saturday lunch and had the festive roast turkey and it was absolutely lovely. Turkey was rolled, stuffed and wrapped in bacon, duck fat roasties were delicious and came with parsnips, swede and purple cabbage which I love. Ordered some additional maple glazed pig in blankets which were some of the best I've eaten and good gravy is always hard to find, it was delicious. Only downside was they were not serving cocktails until after 5p.m. Would highly recommend the Square Club,food and service was fab. Will definitely be back. Thank you :-)

Fantastic place! Amazing people working in the Square, flexible, welcoming and kind. We had amazing cocktails there (penicillin being my personal favourite) and dinner. Food was delicious and they were quite generous with portions. As a starter we had camembert that was tasty but could have been in the oven for longer and then- we had lamb. The lamb was fantastic, and came with a set of sides that added to the experience. One warning- to portions are very generous! The secret garden is a nice, outdoor space (with a roof) so you can book it regardless of the weather.

Do not book an event here or use the dj firm - Richer music. The staff are uninterested they couldn't tell left from right. Were really unfriendly. Didn't contact us about returning our deposit. RICHER MUSIC and dj were awful, didn't play our playlist, they said they couldnt find it and couldn't play any guest requests either. At one point she played westlife when we asked for funk and soul. Awful!

Pleasant atmosphere giving a good alternative to the noisier and less classy places in the area. The Square Club is a cosy space below the Berkeley Square Hotel and serves good cocktails, wines and beers. Friendly staff give this place a smarter feel but there is no dress code. Look out for special cocktails, these are particularly good!

Eight clean plates at the end of a lovely lunch with work colleagues. The menu was varied but not overwhelming, and it catered to the various dietary preferences without needing to make minor adjustments to the food (although I'm sure they would if required). The staff were attentive and seemed to materialise at just the right moments, bringing refreshments promptly and checking in frequently enough without feeling like an unwanted interruption. Everywhere was impeccably clean, and everyone seemed to be following social distance guidance.

Went there for a birthday meal, beautiful interior. Food wasn’t great which was disappointing. Maddi was lovely throughout the evening. Sadly at the end a Lady called Trish ruined the night for us , extremely rude asking us to leave as it was closing , we said nodded and agreed to leave but she stood by our table purposely huffing and puffing , whilst tapping her watch. Really rude lady - sadly wouldn’t return just based on how rude trish was!

We held our wedding here at the end of January. We were so pleased with everything. Sophie, the Private Events Manager, made the preparations stress free and was very patient and responsive with all my questions. She did an amazing job with all the organisation and logistics. On the day the service from the staff was great, the food was delicious and all the decor was perfect. All of our expectations were exceeded and we had a fantastic day.

We got married at the square club in October 2019 and we had an absolutely amazing day! Everything was even more perfect than we had hoped for, it couldn’t have gone better. Sophie and her team provided excellent planning and coordination – we were a bit clueless so it was really helpful to meet before go through what we needed to do in a really organised way. It was all very easy for us. We had great support on the day, all was very smooth and we didn’t have to worry about anything! From the ceremony to the drinks, the table decorations, and the meal, the evening food, drinks and DJ. Everyone had a great time, it was such a wonderful day. And we are pretty happy with the value we got from having a great wedding in central Bristol. Wish we could do it again!

We got married at The Square in March 2018 and the day couldn’t have gone any better. We wanted a nice relaxing wedding with good food and that is exactly what we got. The venue worked very well for our small wedding and all of the staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was incredible and to a very high standard, all of our guests commented on good the food was. Very relaxed atmosphere (even better on Sunday with musicians playing). Service is not fast but it is attentive with excellent attitude. The menu has a fair range of options and the food itself arrives hot, well presented and well cooked. Prices are typical for hotel restaurant. A firm favourite in Bristol.

The atmosphere in here is great, a small intimate space with classy decor and lighting. There is the option of having drinks before dinner in a foyer, and the food is seasonal and delicious. The portions have recently become smaller than before which is a shame, but the food is very high quality. Additionally, they accept tastecard and often do weekday deals which make it affordable to eat out even if you have a lower budget!

We had a fantastic wedding at The Square 2 weeks ago. Right from when we first met Sophie she was professional and calm but very down to earth and couldn't have been more helpful in the lead up to the day. She made sure that all of our requests for table layout etc were taken care of and ensured that we could relax and feel confident that things would run smoothly. This is a great venue for a wedding, being able to have everything under one roof and personalise it how we wanted. Our friends and family loved the location and quirky decor and really enjoyed the food! We would definitely recommend Sophie and the The Square team.

Popped in for lunch. Gorgeous salad and great chips but the falafel bites were very dry. Love the furnishings in the sitting area before you go through to restaurant. Only 4 stars as the lack of soft furnishings in restaurant make it very noisy and hard to talk if a group is in.

Went here for our team Christmas Lunch. Nice venue and great service. All booked in advance a food ordered in advance so what could go wrong. Some complaints around the table that the food was a little dry, but personally mine was great. We can all have a little bit of an off day can't we ?

This review is for dining only. I have not stayed in the hotel. The restaurant area is well laid out considering such a small space is used. You do not feel cramped, yet there is still a cosy and comfortable atmosphere whilst dining with friends and family. Overall the atmosphere is very relaxed. The food was presented to a very high standard. A starter of prawn cocktail, followed by a main of chicken and crème caramel pudding. All dishes tasted fantastic, and we're of a reasonable portion size. The bar area below has a well stocked bottled beer selection, and from what I could see the wine selection was small, but well varied. Cask ales were limited. Staff were great and very attentive. They clearly take pride working here.

Cocktail making session is a must! We recently visited for my hen party and tried out their cocktail masterclass. I can easily say it was the best fun I've had in a long time - I laughed until my cheeks hurt! The host was so professional, super knowledgeable about cocktail making and also very entertaining. The whole group loved the experience and I would definitely recommend it.

Great indoor and outdoor space. Not great for accessibility due to different levels and steps. There was a lift that wasn't offered to me, even though was carrying a baby. Had to climb the steep stone outside stairs. Food was nice and decor lovely.

Very nice venue upstairs for working lunch, also downstairs event hosting area with sofas, seating, bar, and separate entrance down steps. Parking is 2 hrs max in the metered spaces adjacent on Berkeley Square. I've been to a couple of speaking/networking events downstairs, and it has been hard to hear the speakers with the noise from the kitchen area (behind a curtain!). Apart from that, staff are friendly, and it's a nice venue in a great location

Prices are on the higher end of the Bristol price scale however operating as a gentleman’s club day to day, this is to be expected and indeed value for money for the atmosphere provided. Having stayed here for the first time August bank holiday 2013 we fell in love with the location, décor, atmosphere, food, my wife loves the cocktails, I loved the wine and the staff are amazing. So much so we chose The Square as our wedding venue bank August bank holiday this year. The staff really cannot do enough with Amy being fantastic as our organiser. Every one of our guests commented on how amazing the location was and how delicious the food and wine was. Gone are the days of chicken for every guest we had an entire menu for everyone to choose from. Everything ran like clockwork with Amy being an absolute perfectionist and nothing seemed too much. I really cannot rate this place enough as did everyone of our guests.

After a great stay in the suites at the hotel a few years ago, my now wife and I decided to get married at The Square Club and it was amazing. Sophie and Kayleigh were fantastic (as were all the staff we dealt with) and we're extremely grateful for all their help and advice, they also made us feel very relaxed (which was the theme of our day and seemed to be the theme of the venue too). The whole day ran smoothly and everyone, especially us, had a totally amazing day. We were able to decorate the venue to how we wanted and when there was a slight confusion with a couple extra guests, every effort was made to accommodate them without any obvious fuss which could have made them feel uncomfortable. If I had to find any fault at all, it would be that the toilets could do with an overhaul, not that we spent much time in them! The venue offers a few different packages, although Sophie was happy to tailor a package to suite us which was great and we felt the venue/packages offered great value for money. If we could do it again we would! Thanks Sophie, Kayleigh and everyone else who made our special day so rememberable, we plan to keep our membership disputes living in London and will most certainly be back. Luke and Lorna

Sunday Roast! Another fantastic meal at The Square. If you're thinking about trying The Square out then a Sunday Roast is a great place to start. We ate the following: Smoked Salmon starter, Roast Beef and the chocolate / salted caramel dessert. All courses were very tasted and well presented.

Beautiful smart listed building in heart of Bristol, situated in secluded side road overlooking historic Square and near the beautiful Brandon Park offering spectacular views over Bristol and the chance to see the famous Cabot Tower.

We had our Christmas party here and overall was a great night. For a mass produced Christmas party...it's easily the best that I've had in Bristol. Only managed to snap the desert because it was all so good. I had Game terrine for start and Turkey for main aswell as the tirimisu pictured...all of which were bangin'. The cocktails were also really great....but a little bit pricey at £12 for an old fashioned
