Treat night out with my other half. We shared the sharing platter, which is recommended for 4 people. Every dish was good but we felt a spoon would of been helpful on a couple of the dishes. Burger and lamb shank was ordered for our mains and both were lovely. Locally sourced produce, chilled atmosphere and great staff.

Booked a table for our son's Birthday celebration for 4 carnivores, 2 vegetarians and one Gluten free. We were met by Holly and she kindly pushed out booking back by half an hour due to travel delays. We all received a warm welcome and never felt rushed to order. The choice was good and we all enjoyed the meals ordered especially the Steaks which were exactly as we ordered. No need for Starters or Deserts here. All said best steaks in this country. Great pub. Fantastic food. I shared the Chateaubriand with a friend and it was cooked to absolute perfection! Always a brilliant atmosphere in here. The only issue I have here is as a 6foot5 tall man it can be quite hazardous getting around the bar and to the toilets with the low ceilings! However this all adds to the character of the place and you can always blame the headache the next morning on concussion rather that the cider!

Really annoyed ! 3 of us all ordered from special limited lunch menu, today, paid at bar for drinks and mains. Went to order 3 desserts from the set lunch menu , as decided we would like a dessert and told couldn't have them as already paid !the difference was 10.95 1 course,14.95 2 course why not just take 3 x £4 from us... ? Refused to let us order so furious decided not to pay 7.95 for a sweet on principle and left. Petty!! Won't be back .

Took my father for a birthday meal this evening, The waitresses were fantastic and cannot fault them however we ordered 3 ribeye steaks to be cooked medium which were served overcooked and the pepper corn sauce was forgotten from our order meaning our steaks got cold while we waited for them. If this was a pub it could be overlooked but they market themselves as a steak house and charge prices that reflect that so it’s inexcusable. Please get this sorted. It’s such a huge shame.

The SteakHouse at the Squire Inn is a local place to go to eat steak and other delicious meals. I have been there many times since it’s been the Steak House and the cuts of meat are always amazing! They can accommodate large tables if you give them enough notice and the restaurant is lovely. The restaurant is set to the side of the main pub but you don’t get too much noise from the pub which is nice! The staff are always friendly and welcoming, a couple of times I have had a few slight order mix-ups but the staff were quick to rectify them. One time I visited the Steak House and asked for a bottle of red wine which came out stone cold as it had been kept in the cellar, however the rest of the times I have been I have greatly enjoyed it. I have also had a Leg of Lamb Sunday Roast there before and the lamb was very fatty and it only took about 4 minutes from when I ordered it for our food to actually come out so I had wondered how long had it been sat around because it was warm but not hot. The Squire itself is a nice place to go for a drink and watch the football. Sometimes it can get very busy but it’s nice inside and the bar staff are friendly and quick to serve you. The outside seating area is nice in the sunny weather and there are a lot of tables out there.

Great historical local pub! Perfect if you just want to have a drink and sit in a beer garden or have some pub food. They do a great Sunday lunch, amazing steaks and burgers. If there is a sport on then it will be playing on a decent size TVs in the main bar. The pub is dog friendly.

Nicely laid table. Definitely a meat eaters paradise. I loved my selection of honey glazed ham hock on bubble and squeak with cheese sauce, just needed something to break through the richness and add a different texture to the dish. Absolutely gorgeous! I came here with my family a couple of months ago & I just had to write a review! Firstly, it was super easy to book a table (phoned up & spoke to someone!) Secondly, we were seated quickly & given the menus & asked what we’d like to drink & then left alone for a while to decide what we’d like (not pushy at all.) Thirdly, the food was absolutely devine😍 I’m coming back to celebrate my birthday. I highly recommend!

Helpful, friendly staff. Very limited options if you are lactose intolerant although they did have a vegan dessert which I enjoyed. There was nothing I could eat on the lunchtime menu so I had the vegan burger. Burger itself was alright but came with potatoes which were neither chips, wedges or saute potatoes. Not sure what they were and some had black bits in which I didn't fancy. Also expensive for what it was. It's a shame because I have been coming here for 40+ years and always enjoyed it in the past. My friend had lunch here the previous Sunday and she said that was excellent so perhaps I was just unlucky.

Went with a group of friends as a birthday celebration. Unless you're a meat eater/lover, you will probably find the menu choice very, very limited. As a pescatarian, I had the choice of either fish & chips or mushroom risotto. The server said they would try to accommodate me as best they could but being surrounded by the smell of sizzling steaks didn't make for a very comfortable evening for me at all. I chose the fish & chips, the portion size of which was ample, it was hot, and served promptly. The surroundings were pleasant, restaurant was busy so is clearly popular, but not so many tables you feel squashed which is sometimes an issue in favoured establishments. It was, however, really quite noisy and our table had trouble holding conversation. Toilet facilities were clean. I do not enjoy writing bad reviews but have done my best to point out both bad and good points of my visit. I'm sure a meat-eater would enjoy the experience a lot more than I did (hence the 3 star rating and not lower) but I will not be visiting again by choice.

Beautiful food in this lovely part of north Bristol. Portions are big and if you're brave enough for a starter the meat sharing option for £15 will easily satisfy 4. Some of the best steaks my family have ever enjoyed! Great service too!

This was the third time we have eaten in the steak house, the first 2 times were terrible...bad service and awful food, so we thought we would give it one last go. The service was excellent, nothing was too much trouble, couldn't fault it. The food was ok! It was very expensive for what it was, the choice of puddings was limited unless you like chocolate or nuts. I'm not sure whether we will bother going back there again.

Good solid grub but nothing particularly exotic. The typical roasts, a fish option and spare ribs (a bit dry when I had them) on the regular menu with special burgers of the day. Portions are a bit too large for my liking. After a main I'm too full to eat desert ( and supper as well). Desert board looks delicious so too bad! Good selection of gin if that's your thing. One generic ale and one very standard guest ale. Boring! Not where I'd go to drink.

Somethings changed with this pub. Came here last year multiple times and really enjoyed the food, however todays lunch was uninspiring chips dont appear triple cooked like they used to be. One small mushroom and tomato and a token gesture of a sprig of rocket. The meal looked like it has just been thrown on the plate. Poorly presented. Not sure why if you choose the steak in the 3 course meal deal for £15 requires extra payment of £2 (just leave it out of the meal deal surely ) tad deceiving. Food was ok but i wont be rushing back which is a shame.

These guys also have The Swan in Nibley, the Squire however is sometimes a bit hit and miss, hence just 3 stars.
