C. E.The food is amazing, it was brought over very quickly and was hot. Portions are huge too. The tables are really close together so felt like we were sat with strangers while we ate. The restaurant is clean and is nicely done out. Service was a bit slow though with regards to waiting for drinks and the bill etc. It's a busy restaurant with a quick turn around. For a quick bite to eat I'd recommend, but not somewhere you could take your time.
T. M. o. M.Hands down, the best burger I've ever had. I opted for The Last Samur -Thigh. Buttermilk, breaded chicken stack with hoisin sauce, asian slaw, seasoned fries and epic onion rings. Staff were all so helpful and friendly. Noticed straight away that I had accessibility issues and apologised profusely for the disabled toilets being out of action on this one occasion. Nothing was too much trouble and I'm sorry I couldn't remember everyone's names apart from Connor, who was fantastic. Everything was perfect. Can't wait to go back and try another burger. Xxx

M. H.Start with the positives, Staff very attentive without being too attentive, very friendly and helpful, portion a decent size, not super unreasonable price based on what else is about.
Bad stuff, onion rings oily and tasteless, burger Pattie’s very under seasoned, didn’t really taste of anything, not worth getting the “dirty fries” just covered in hippo sauce(burger sauce)
Overall it was worth trying but won’t be rushing back

Cornelius was amazing, he greeted us in and saw us out, very funny and a great character. Glasses man and pink hair lady were our waiters/waitress and were great!

o. m.Really lovely place, about as central as you can get in Cardiff. Nice, clean, slightly industrialist interior, comfortable seating, music not too loud. Three of us went on Wednesday at 430pm (booked a table the day before). Staff are super friendly and efficient, we had a drink within minutes and food also arrived very quickly. I had a "Stinky Pete" burger with a dirty fries, son had the same, wife had a "Born Slippy" served at her request without a bun or jalapenos. Side of purple slaw and a selection of very tasty sauces. Food was delicious, strong tastes without being overwhelming, excellent quality burgers. Son loved his enormous milkshake as well. With a couple of drinks and a tip our bill was around £60, which I consider extremely reasonable. Certainly a very major contender for best burger in Cardiff. We'll be back!
e.Sat upstairs in the window. Food was awesome. We had starters and mains. Slushy cocktails were banging. Servers were super attentive. The guy with the gold nose ring was awesome. Very kind and funny to our little girl and really approachable.

Unfortunately let down by the service of one waiter who after we queried if our food would be much longer after waiting 40minutes replied very confrontationally that he hadn’t served us, he’s a waiter and not kitchen staff and that other people had been waiting longer. The encounter ruined the visit for all of us, people who had ordered after us had been served their food already so it didn’t seem like an unreasonable question to ask but we were made to feel terrible for asking and so uncomfortable I didn’t quite know how to reply. The waitress serving us however was very cheerful and did a great job, just a shame her colleague let the visit down
S. K.Kept a close eye on this one on Facebook for the grand opening and managed to get myself in today. I had the last samurai chicken burger , great taste quite packed with fillings. Staff were very friendly! Toilets very modern and clean

M. M.WOW WOW WOW!!! We chose fat hippo as our Sunday foodie treat! The food was beyond incredible! Best burgers we had all eaten and that buffalo sauce 😍😍 can we all just say wow wow wow to our server Cornelius aswell! He made our experience so much better and what an asset to the restaurant! R. W.Went here with three other people to try there burgers. Booked ahead but arrived 35 minutes early but the staff managed to sit us down considering the place was packed. Waiting for a staff member to come to our table to take order toke a while but not to blame as stated the place was packed. I ordered the Born Slippery which was ok you can tell the burgers were handmade could of been flavoured more, the rib meat was flavoured quite well with the spicy jalapeños and cheese. The handcut chips were tasteless they needed salt which was not provided so had to use tomato sauce which saved them a bit. Overall it was ok staff were polite, price was ok just worth going once.

C. D.Visited here with my partner, as we are both big lovers of food/restaurants. We were very impressed. The portion sizes were amazing and we were not left hungry. The food itself was absolutely amazing, as a lover of burgers and dirty fries I urge anyone similar to come to this place on church street cardiff city centre. Burger was phenomenol as were the chips. Mars attack topped it off. Cornelious was very helpful and made the experience alot better.
R.Staff were lovely and very attentive. We were however disappointed with the food. The burgers weren’t to our taste. Personally all I could taste was mustard,
to the point that I had to scrape my bun. Sorry but it’s a meh from me.
F. M.I came to eat here after reading the WalesOnline article labelling it the best burger in Cardiff. I can positively say from my experience this isn't accurate. Now I'm a special case as I can't eat cheese and I'm not a fan of condiments on my burgers either so my test for a good burger comes down right to the patty itself.
Firstly we'll start with the wait time, definitely abysmal. I'll give leeway where it's due, as of writing this there was a football match and Ed Sheeran was playing as well. And I've worked both in the kitchen and as a server so I understand what it's like when it's busy. All this being said, my partner and I waited 30 ish minutes for our food, and if the burger was as good as I'd heard maybe I'd be able to let that slide, but on top of the wait burger ended up being a bit underwhelming as well. The patty was under seasoned, and had an almost watery taste to it. I'm hoping this was down to the fact that it was so busy and that this isn't a normal issue.
On to the positives. The price was pretty fair, £26 for two burgers, fries and a coke. The coke was overpriced but when isn't it? The fries were spectacular, not the best I've had but way worth the price. Perfectly seasoned, fresh, tasty and the perfect amount of crunch. The decor is lovely, has this black sleekness to it, which gives it a modern look.
Overall I will return in the hopes that this is a one-off situation.
