S. D.Having avoided Miller & Carter previously as it’s a chain, I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The steak was perfectly cooked and the sauce had a deep, delicious taste. Well worth the price
M.Went a few times, usually went for Sirloin (medium rare) which was the cheaper option and it was always kind of chewy, but I suppose that is how Sirloins are. But then I tried the Ribeye (medium) and that was amazing! I love the onion+potato block you get with the steaks, but their chips are always underwhelming. I tried the chunky fries and they were a bit dry. Their starters are small but taste good. During special holidays, they are usually always full, so you have to wait to be seated (5 to 10 minutes).

S. W.Moved to this branch after a disappointing start in The Bay Miller and Carter as there was no veggie options left there and tbh it was like a glorified Harvester, tables way too close together and very noisy.
In contrast The Hayes is in a different league, tables well spaced out, totally different vibe, food lovely so what started as a disappointing evening turned out OK.

He was also very attentive when he discovered it was our silver wedding anniversary which was so lovely, a genuinely nice person and an asset to the team. Our chef was jack and every single part of our food was absolutely delicious so thanks to them both.

We also had drinks at the bar before food and it took 20 to get served, and a further 5 minutes for cocktails to be made. Need more bar staff on a busy day! The waiter we had was brilliant, couldn't fault him.
Every ounce of our food was delicious. Would highly recommend to anyone who just feels they would like an alternative to standing in a hot kitchen, trying to time the roasties with the parsnips and sprouts.

Had to ask the server twice for sauce which eventually arrived half way through the meal, had a long wait for drinks whilst a group of staff seemed to be chatting at the bar and some parts of our order were brought out incorrectly.
X. P.Lovely steak! Had the sharing board with rump ribye , beef fillet and ribs. Very good portions and very tasty!. Most staff are pleasant.The only thing id say I wish they played some music as without music all you could hear from every direction was talking. Overall very nice food

Didn't feel rushed and got a card and a glass of bubbly to celebrate our 5th Wedding Anniversary.
Salad was *roughly* chopped (read little more than halfed an iceberg lettuce) and the bacon looked barely cooked. Tasty however and the dressing was nice.
I had the Black Angus Sirloin and the missus had the ribeye. Perfectly cooked to order for both and well presented. Chips good but when listed as triple fried I expected crispier. The onion rosti complimented well but was a little soft also. The wife enjoyed the lobster tail.
We enjoyed the evening, but for £90 for two mains, a side and a bottle of wine, I think it'll likely be our 10th anniversary we might book again.

Fantastic experience at miller & carter everytime! We have been visiting regularly for many years now and even over the festive period! The staff are soo welcoming and nothing is to much trouble. There is one gentleman in particular, I believe he is a mature gentleman and may be Italian, he is hilarious and so helpful! He interacted with the entire family including the children and made us all laugh, he is fabulous! The food is out of this world, melt in your mouth steak & the flavours are incredible! O.We were lucky to get a table without booking for a late lunch on Sunday. The steak and ribs were great. However, the service was a little slow and not very professional. E.g. the waitress didn’t get us extra plates for sharing the starter. Or, she didn’t asked us about the second round of drinks... so we didn’t bother to order. Otherwise, it was a nice afternoon. Most importantly, huge shoutout to Joe, the most professional server who made our dining experience even more unforgettable. Thank you so, so much Joe! Bet your colleagues hate you for setting a high bar to be deemed a good server hahaha! Highly doubt we’ll ever get a server as good as Joe in the future. That’s how good he was! Again, best dining experience thanks to Joe!
We will come back to Miller and Carter again for both the good food and of course, preferably to be served by Joe again!
V. B.What a lovely afternoon. Joe, our waiter, was a delight and made our afternoon. He was attentive and charming. Jack our chef created a beautiful melt in the mouth Châteaubriand. Can’t wait to visit again.

G. T.My husband and I tend to shy away from large chain restaurants nowadays, but decided to give M&C an impromptu visit last night. We were throughly impressed and came away with a positive lasting impression. The food menu & drinks options were varied and diverse. The pricing is average for an inner city prime location. Service was excellent. It's a very large 2 floor building, but I know it gets extremely busy if there is a sporting occasion or music gig on at one of the local arenas/stadiums, so would advise booking in advance. Can happily recommend M&C, and will undoubtedly be back again.

The prawn sauce was not very nice however the nachos were delicious.
One had salmon which the potatoes were slightly hard and bland

For afters we had coffee and chocolate brownie which was lovely and one person had crumble and custard which was also lovely

Had a great T-bone with beef dripping fries (medium rare), highly recommend along with a glass of Malbec. Only downside was dining alone as I was away on business.

K. M.This was my first visit in almost two years to this particular Miller & Carter and it was as good as I remembered especially the friendly staff.
I had the 8oz Bistro Rump Steak (medium) along with the beef dripping sauce and sweet potato fries and it was delicious. The only down side for me was that the fires were somewhat cold which would suggest they may have been waiting a while for the rest of the dish to be played, however the steak was the too good for me to care too much about this.
My wife had the same steak and fries with peppercorn sauce and again she was really pleased with it and infact said "best meal out she's had for some time." She only managed to eat 2/3 of her steak though as she too ordered medium and she found in areas it was more rare but I had no problem finishing this off for her.
Desert was also great, normally I find myself disappointed with desert in a steak house but these were tasty. I had the creme brulee but my wife's banoffee pie was a clear winner.
Overall we really enjoyed our meal here and the only reason I'm not giving it a 5* was because of my cold fries and my wifes slightly undercooked steak but we will definitely be back here again very soon.

We booked our table back at the beginning of October for our first Christmas meal of the year ( at the end of November ). Paid the deposit for the Christmas menu only to then notice online about a week before our meal that the Christmas menu would no longer be available after 5pm on a Saturday which was slightly frustrating as that was the whole reason for booking our meal.
After calling a couple of times and speaking to a very rude assistant manager - Darren - we were told that yes this was the case and we would not be able to order from the Christmas menu even though that’s what we had booked and paid the deposit for. By this point it was too late to then look to book a Christmas meal at an alternative restaurant as everything was already booked up.
Luckily thanks to Slawek we still had a fabulous night!
As a large restaurant chain maybe keep your customers informed of any changes though in future and Darren possibly needs to go back to customer service school for a little longer.

B.Excellent steaks and fast service by friendly staff. Not the cheapest place for a steak but well worth the money. Only complaint, they serve a quarter of a lettuce in a wooden bowl. It would take the chef's seconds to chop up and place in the bowl. Instead the customer has to struggle to chop it. This strikes me as lazy and whoever came up with that idea needs to think again.

M. K.Steak was okay not the best even for Miller and Carter standard. Staff were great and attentive however don’t bother with the lobster. Probably the worst lobster I’ve ever had it was dry and cold. Also felt like when my partner ordered the sharing cake someone should of told us it was for a family of 4 instead of letting us waste money and getting through half a piece of dry chocolate cake. After spending £130 between 2 of us I felt very disappointed which is never what you want after going out for an anniversary dinner.

b. 1.Had 3 meals in Cardiff City centre today 2 were great but the steak burger was inedible. Almost put 4 stars as I had an issue with my main.
I ordered a half grilled lobster as a side to come out with my meal.
The lobster didn't come with any lobster tools so I had no way to get the inner meat out, I could only get from the section of tail that was cut to make the half.
Why would a lobster be served with no lobster tools?
I queried this with the waitress and she came back with just a single lobster pic, I mentioned about the rest of the tools (claw cracker ect), the waitress wasn't sure so went to check.
I was told they don't have any nut/lobster crackers, so I was unable to get into the claw of the lobster, which is widely regarded as the best part with a large meat part.
I felt a bit awkward not being able to access a large portion of the lobster for the price it is for such little meat, I asked if I could return it as I wasn't able to open it.
The waitress understood and took it back, only to come back with it, after the chef had cracked the claw with a knife. I felt a little disappointed, but I accepted the lobster back and enjoyed it.
I'm just curious why lobster would be served without having the necessary cutlery/implements, it's like serving soup with no spoons.
Our server Erika however, was very helpful so thank you for that 😊not a negative review, as mentioned at the start the food was gorgeous. The starter, main and desert were great.

N. W.Very expensive. Had the toughest fillet steak ever. Took ages to get it changed and my whole party had finished their meal by the time I got a replacement. Friends ribeye was a third gristle. They eventually took these meals off the bill and also a bit more to compensate, which is acceptable. As they change so much I would not have expected the meat quality we got to be of the standard we received. A good chef should have spotted this at prep stage. A disappointing meal that spoilt a 60th birthday celebration.

Quick service to order drinks and we ordered some nibbles for the table. The bread board with butter, oil and olives is always so delicious and well worth an order and a portion of halloumi fries cooked perfectly.
Mains were delicious. I just had the rump steak (saving some pennies) and was cooked perfectly and still worth an order. Didn't have any triple cooked chips but normal ones are still so crispy. Onion loaf is what I really look forward to and we order a cheeky extra to share. Some were not quite cooked enough others were perfect! I had the beef dripping sauce after someone recommended it and it was amazing. Really rich and dark. Will definitely order again.
The only pudding I will order is the crème Brûlèe because it is so creamy and delicious!!!
Just make sure you book, with Covid and being in Cardiff and a nice day, if we hadn't have booked we wouldn't have been seated.
Would definitely come again just might try and book for earlier than 9.30pm as way too late for me and my tummy.

The steak meals were up to our expectations, excellently cooked steaks with lots of choices on the menu. The only downside was that they ran out of vanilla ice cream for the desserts. Service superb, and I highly recommend Miller & Carter as the best steak house in Cardiff

A. N.Great steak dinner. We went for the set menu which represented pretty good value. The atmosphere was well pitched - not too much noise and people weren't too cramped in. Steak was good quality and cooked as we asked. It's nice to have the offering they do with everything included unlike some places which charge you separately for onions, salad, chips, or sauce, etc. Drinks menu also had a good variety though a little on the pricey side for non alcoholic drinks. One thing letting our down was the toilets weren't amazing.

The actual restaurant was very pleasant, and the staff were helpful. The table we had was just about big enough when all the food came out, but this is just a little nit pick. There was plenty of space between each table, unlike other places.
We had a lovely evening tonight for our wedding anniversary. This is definitely somewhere I would come again, and recommend without hesitation.

S. H.Until recently I'd never been to Miler & Carter, but upon hearing some fairly mixed reviews, I decided I'd bite the bullet give it a go.
Booking a table online was quick and simple. The welcome was pleasant and even though we were slightly early, we were taken straight to our table. The service on the night was excellent, which came as a surprise considering some of the reviews I've read.
Food was absolutely delicious! I thought the portions would be small and pretentious, but they were great and well presented.
It is expensive, but this isn't somewhere you go regularly. As a treat every now and again or for a birthday it's great. I would happily go again.

K. d.We've been at M&C a few times because food has always been great and service previously always appreciated but last night the service really lacked tact which made our experience very disappointing for the first time.
Our older server (italian?) had a very "macho" (if I can call it like that) approach in terms of his service and sadly came across as very SEXIST - either when asking about food or when asked for advice in terms of choices while we were ordering at the table. Instead of being objective and informative, he would clearly state that "womens" order this and that's why I should take it instead of explaining the options available on the menu like a professional waiter would do.
A joke or two can be appreciated but he was very defensive throughout the night - even when asked about dessert, he replied pointing at my partner saying "He's sweet enough!" and didn't offer any options, walking away sighing "ahhh womens!" That's a first and I don't even know if I should laugh at this point but it is definitely not acceptable as it put us both as guests in an uncomfortable position.
His lack of or his past experience with women - whatever it might be - SHOULD NOT AFFECT THE QUALITY of the service he provides at work - sadly this individual's personal frustration and lack of professionalism made our experience at the restaurant quite interesting and not too enjoyable.
Food was very good nonetheless, very generous portions and we really liked our steaks.
Would've appreciated a dessert.
T. W.My boyfriend and I visit here on special occasions and the service is always amazing! The food is so good and worth every penny. We always visit on a set menu day as the food can get a bit pricey if not, but on a set menu you get 3 courses for around £27. It's a no brainer if you want quality food and quality service

C. L.Sure it's a chain restaurant but the steak is very good and the prices are reasonable. The cocktails aren't that great but the decor is a high standard.
The service is OK, but other places are a lot better in this regard. Last visit out server didn't make us feel like we should be there... maybe just a bad day for him but all the servers didn't look very happy.
Т. Т.Went in for a birthday meal and had a full 3 course meal, for 2 people. Starter was served quickly, well presented and tasted great. You then get served a wedge of lettuce (just a 1/4 of a whole lettuce covered in your choice of sauce, sounds weird but really works well with steaks) and the steaks were cooked to perfection Totalled £75 which for a 3 course meal for 2 with drinks is great value for top quality food and service

M. S.We went for the Sunday menu for the pretty good deal of £25 per person for three courses, with a reservation at 17:00. Unfortunately they only had the more expensive steak available that you had to pay a £6 subsidiary on top of the deal price. We didn't mind but it did make the night quite a bit more expensive than we had hoped. The steak was delicious but on the cold side, the butter on my steak didn't even melt. In high insight I should have sent it back to be warmed but I was worried about the rare steak being overdone. I would recommend, on the whole the meal was delicious and it was a damn fine cut of fillet steak!

L. H.Had a table booked for 5pm today. I arrived at quarter to 5 and gave the name of the booking and said i was a little early, only to be told "come back at 5 then". I found my 2 friend's in the bar area and they had been told the same thing. I think the chap on the door needs a lesson in manners, he was rude and abrupt and quite frankly there was no need. That said, the food was excellent and our waiter was wonderful.

Attended our works Xmas do, given there was over 40 of us, the staff were very efficient patient and even attended us at the table for our drinks which we didn't expect. R.Absolutely fantastic food in general. Two small gripes, the onion loaf portion was much smaller than I’ve had at other M&C restaurants and the Mac & Cheese was lukewarm. Didn’t detract from how good the steak was though.
Get that beef dripping sauce people, it’s unreal!

They never seem to handle large parties quite right. 😢

Never been before. Had steak sandwich with chips. Stunning. Packed there ordered food 2.10. Had it by 2.25 and drinks. Service was great. Been to frankie and bennys. Half size of Miller and Carter. Hardly anyone there and waited 45 mins for food. Definitely go again

A very warm, welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and best of all - quality steak! My fillet steak was perfectly cooked and the sauce was proper tasty! Overall a great meal. Definitively be back soon!
