S. T.What a brilliant place!!! We did the Upgraded Bottomless Brunch/Lunch - Food was very tasty and the cocktails were ace! Staff are friendly and polite. Pretty clean, toilets need a little tlc but all good 👍

The only thing that I found disappointing was the price of the food - For the price I did expect more than was served. The food I ordered was pleasant ... not too spicy for me, just expected a bit more than I got.

Food reasonably priced and tasty.
Service was very slow, and our server argued back when we politely pointed out a mistake made to our order! We refused to pay their added £27 service charge, but did leave a cash tip instead.

We’d been previously and had lunch/dinner but never the bottomless and it was amazing as always! The service from Alexandru was absolutely fantastic!! From arrival we were greeted by a super friendly lady named Lauren with a big smile, she showed us to our seats & talked us through the bottomless brunch menu & cocktails was very polite & lovely sense of humour with her customer service. We ordered our first round of drinks to then be waited on everytime our drinks were running out. All of the staff were brilliant despite how busy they were, as Ed sheeran concert was on that evening. We were not ignored at all, our waiter Charlie was also fantastic we had a great laugh with him everytime he came to our table, he was so busy making sure everyone was topped up with cocktails & meals arriving quickly within moments of ordering. We thoroughly enjoyed our bottomless brunch, was excellent & infact our first time having bottomless brunch, we've recommended it to everyone we met in our evening before the ed sheeran concert. The staff & whole atmosphere of this place is just what you need to start off a day in Cardiff. We managed to have atleast 8 cocktails each which I believe is a bargain! We left very tipsy & smiley & even got a photo of our friendly waiter Charlie for our tiktok video lol.
Well done turtle bay. I had a great time in Cardiff & you kicked it off perfectly for me as was also attending my first ever concert.

C. B.I think it was perhaps over booked and understaffed. But despite that , the lady who served us was amazing. Food was yummy. Drinks were lush. Cocktails definitely moreish ❤ and prosecco as an added bonus.... we will be back.
p. d. s.Nice food almost everything was spacy. We ordered all the starters on the menu, the ribs wasn't available. Some of the starters wasn't really warm when arrived to the table. The food arrived after the food, we need to ask a few times for some tab water. The waitress was a bit lost.

S. C.I've been several times to this establishment and loved everytime x today the service was really slow, to the point our server actually ignored us???? If this was my first visit I wouldn't go back. Spent quite a bit of money, today is the first time I haven't tipped. What a shame, on the plus side the food was amazing, expresso martini, was awful though, must be the worst I have tried and actually made me and companion quite unwell. Not drunk I can assure you of that very unwell.

The atmosphere is nice and casual, but be aware it’s a bit noisy.
There’s a bar in the middle of the place. The kitchen is open. The restaurant is pretty big, so there’s a better chance of finding a place even when the city center is packed.

A. H.Turtle Bay is a fantastic first step into Carribbean cuisine for those who haven't tried it yet! It caters to a wide variety of palettes and dishes can range from creamy to spicy to fruity. The one pots are great, the fish is cooked well and the chicken wings are sweet and spicy!
The atmosphere is almost that of a nightclub at times, especially later on Fridays and Saturdays, it can get busy and it often takes a while to be served by staff. But the drinks are fantastic and the service is good once you find it!
Fantastically decorated too- really feels like a Jamaican jerk shack! For the price it's ££ and can be a great lunch or a nice sit down evening date.

p.A good restaurant with plenty of food and cocktail options. The meat ia very tender and well spiced. The prices are reasonable and the servers are very friendly and helpful. Reggae music in the background made the restaurant feel quite lively. I recommend making an online reservation, especially on Friday night and over the weekend - this place is packed! The online reservation process is extremely easy and user friendly though, so it’s really not an issue. Good restaurant for a casual get together, or even an easy going romantic evening.

The food itself is quality you can get all types of flavours including the legendary jerk chicken but they do all types from jerk ribs to lamb in a jerk sauce and also curries as well as burgers. The also do 2 -4 -1 cocktails at certain times so if you are looking for a bargain on cocktails definitely come to this place. The price on the meal is very decent depending on what you have . Be sure to check this place out if you haven't already.👍🏾👍🏾

L. B.Caribbean themed returant. Tasty dishes, recommend getting a start or a side as the main dishes aren't huge if you have a big appetite. Staff are really friendly and of you have a question about a dish they can help you and suggest what to try or to suit your taste. Ample cocktails to choose from, draft beer is red stripe which is OK, I'd prefer something else but it suits the theme of the restaurant.
Dishes featured are Spicy Beef Patti, which was really spice and the Goat curry which I really recommend.

R. V. (.Love it! The atmosphere and food is great. Music is fairly loud so no the place for a deep conversion but a good night with friends. I love the prawns and trini doubles here! And have a look at the set menu as deals can be pretty good on there, I usually get dessert and this particular day I opted for the chili brownie which couldn't have been any better. Overall, Great chef, let down by poor service, can't really recommend.

Our waiter Levi was chatty and attentive. We arrived in time for the 2-4-1 cocktail offer which we took advantage of.
Our food was well cooked, arrived well presented and was very tasty. I've not eaten here before, but I'll definitely be going back. I would recommend having two courses we didn't have any room at all for desserts!

S. L.The food is very nice and so are the cocktails but i have to be honest and say that the greeting staff were particularly rude. We asked for a table to eat and were told it was an hour wait, we were happy to wait as it was buy one get one free on cocktails but no one came and got us and they were several empty tables during the time we waited. In the end we gave up and ordered food from the menu to be delivered to the bar area. The starters and the mains came all at once and then upon finishing this we wanted dessert and was told that they are no longer serving food to the bar area and it wasn't even 7pm. It's seems that this place should just be separated as the restaurant isn't really a restaurant during the evenings owing to the cocktails and then becomes more a themed bar. So the atmosphere is to loud and uncomfortable for a nice meal.

c. b.Don’t normally leave reviews, but just had to. We came down from Surrey to visit my son at uni in Cardiff a couple of weeks ago. Love this restaurant everything about it 5 stars! From the minute we arrived to the minute we left, we had the best time. The food was amazing, the staff especially Darren & Zac who went above & beyond, there was a mix up with our booking, our fault they couldn’t see it on there system. However on a busy Saturday night, when they were fully booked Darren & Zac said they would work there magic & managed to find us a table. Everything you’d hope for & so much more. Very attentive & nothing was too much trouble. So THANKYOU Darren & Zac for giving all of us a night to remember. Will definitely be coming back.

We were day visitors to Cardiff and came across this gem of a restaurant. It’s got a fashionable Caribbean vibe with reggae playing in the background.
Between us we had cocktails (2 for 1), the ginger beer which was amazing, nothing like the bottled stuff you get in supermarkets, Buddha bowl, burger, roti, plantain, halloumi, Mac n cheese bites and finished with the most amazing hot ginger pudding with a scoop of rum and a scoop of coconut ice cream.
Were we served by the delightful Abigail who was more than helpful. We told her she needs to tell the manager to open in Scotland as we don’t have anything like this in Glasgow or Edinburgh. She got the manager to speak to us and again we told him he needs to open up north of the border. Phenomenal, honestly if you haven’t been you must.

G. D. J. S.I came here for drinks not long ago with some friends and had a mostly enjoyable time. The staff were very friendly and cheerful, however very busy owing to the numbers. The drinks and snacks arrived in a reasonable amount of time and were presented nicely. I tried three cocktails - an fruity and boozy Passionfruit Rum punch which was really excellent, a rather poor strawberry daiquiri, and a very disappointing mojito. The macaroni bites were enjoyable and the decor was great!
The 2 for 1 made the night a very reasonable price, but the disappointing drinks were a real let down. I'm hoping to give it another chance on a quieter day though!

So I asked for it to be corrected and it came back £2 too much. Third time it was correct. Will go back.

The bar manager of the cocktail bar was full of good banter and had a good deal of showmanship when it came to making drinks.

n.beautiful food. music a tad bit loud, but we were close to close time on a Monday and thus the place was emptier. when it's packed it probably is the right volume. to our surprise there was also a happy hour as well, meaning it wasn't half priced but double amount. we ordered like 3 cocktails, and it was like 5arriving instead for the two of us, it insta put a smile on our faces! the drink, and food recipes are all Caribbean themed also so it was refreshing to see something different!

Then I visited at night, when it’s vibey and energetic, and so went inside during the day the next time I was after a lunch spot. Had some awesome Caribbean food and lovely cocktails - a great find.
A. L.Lovely food and bubbly service! However, portion sizes weren't generous and on the menu they really hyped up what were really just garnishes - i.e. Coconut shavings / plantain - in reality you got 2 slivers of coconut, and one little piece of plantain.

We only discovered we could have ordered from the set menu on the day that we went when we looked at the dessert menu which the waiter gave us. As there were 7 of us for my daughter's birthday this would have saved us approx £75+ if we all had 3 courses but more if we're only had 2. Not great.

The place was packed being the weekend before Christmas but even still there was no extended wait. Well done back of house! The staff were pleasant and the food (I had the sharing platter and brown chicken) wad plentiful, very tasty and great value. So much so we didn't have room for dessert. Thanks guys will be coming back to try the snapper next!

The pepper hot sauce is a must to add if you like it spicy, as it also adds flavor. If you go before 7pm or after 10pm you get 2 for 1 drinks and these are amazing. Tease me and Marley Mojito are 2 really good ones

W. R.Though it is a large chain restaurant I have to admit Turtle Bay Cardiff actually provides really good quality food when it comes to his Caribbean menu. Especially with their presentation, and they add some character with the presentation and utensils: though it sometimes seems like culture misappropriation, they have made a good effort.

P. H.It was our first time at Turtle Bay. We'd gotten there around 9:30pm, so our choice of tables. Manager came over to say hello and explain the restaurant. Having a WI girlfriend, we're very familiar with the foods. Food was very good , from the doubles to the jerk to the curry goat. Becky our waitress was also terrific. We tried going back on Friday, however place was packed and you required reservations. Red Stripe seemed a little flat and could've been colder though. All in all, a very good night out.

R. W.Yesterday evening I observed cocktails being made by a very enthusiastic barman. However I noticed him handling cash then handling food products and ice going into the cocktails. All that has to be done to avoid contamination is use a spoon or wear disposable gloves if you have to handle food. Alternatively wash hands after handling cash.
Drinks in all fairness were very good.
Come on turtle bay management, basic health and hygiene need to be a priority here.

S.Enjoyed a lovely meal from the set menu: some coconut rice dish and a chilli chocolate brownie with chocolate icecream. Loved the rice, the texture of which was perfect, the flavours of the curry was good. I throughly enjoyed it. The brownie itself was ok, did not like the chilli and some flavouring in the brownie, but loved the chocolate bits of it and the icecream was nice.
Overall I enjoyed this place and would recommend it. Happy they have clearly marked vegan options in Starters, main and dessert. Online they also have a separate vegan and vegetarian menu.
A. I.Love this place. Only wish they had more gluten free options on the menu. Was very sad that their plantain wasnt gluten free (assuming its because they dont use a seperate fryer). I ended up having several items from the starter menu instead of a main. Customer service was great though and they catered really well to my young kids with colouring pages and a kids menu.
L. H.Went with a group of friends to celebrate a 40th birthday, on a Saturday lunch time. The music was incredibly loud. The staff seemed a little disorganised and struggled to deal with a table of 14 people. The food was tasty but it wasn't my scene. Just too loud.
R. M.Good service and nice food in themed surroundings. Watch out for the "Beach Salad" upgrade on the mains. If you opt for this they take off the sweet potato fries or rice and peas. So it's not really an upgrade it's a substitute. You then have to pay for a portion of rice and peas if you want that too, having already paid extra for the so called upgrade!

D. M.Great food, nice drinks, overall a nice environment, bar staff was a bit bad when it first opened, but after several trips back not had a problem since. If you like your jerked chicken, or fancy some curried goat served in an enamel pot, washed down with a rum, then this is the place to go.

1) the toilets were horrible
2) Ref: Roti - What's the point of saying a dish comes with something (in this case Roti) and then bring out a cutting of 2 cm x 2 cm.
Despite this the atmosphere was vibrant, the music was thumping and service was good (not a long wait on a busy night). The cocktails were slightly overpriced but good value during happy hour.
