Came to Colchester Zoo with my friend thought we could come here to eat. Read reviews looked good. Very nice and cosy seating area. Customer Service A1 here amazing hospitality! Food was good as well hit the spot Cod was fresh and crispy and so was the chips. Definitely will come here again if I come by Colchester!

Just visited my first chippy in Colchester and had fish n chips after more than 2 years. It was definitely one of the best I’ve had. The portions were very generous, the quality was high and the garnishing and small details such as the salad and spices and freshness were all top notch. The owner is a very jolly, friend Turkish man who showed great hospitality and respect. Will come again. Price is a little high but portions and quality is superb.

I SWEAR THIS IS THE BEST RESTAURANT IN COLCHESTER! It is also halal (because I am a muslim). Went there twice and the staffs were really helpful and nice to us. The portion of food can be shared by 2 people (I guess). But if you are really hungry, take & finish one plate to yourself. The services was good. The restaurant is located near to the Colchester town. Not in the middle of the town, but consider it as reachable.

Fabulous presentation! Clean restaurant with fresh flowers on all the tables. Lovely welcome! Very good fish and chips. The music was 1950's and everyone was tapping their feet and wanting to dance. Well we had friends , pick us up Fish& chips, they were the best Fish chips I have had for a while . not at all greasy. And when I rang up to ask were the shop was such a very Polite gentleman told me and he couldn't have been more helpful. Went here with a friend for lunch after shopping. Very pleasant staff and absolutely beautiful fish and chips. For seniors the meal included lovely fresh bread and proper butter, tea, coffee or a soft drink all for £8.45 each. This was my first visit but will definitely not be my last.

Colchester has two or three 'best' fish & chip shops, but Dr. Chippy's really stands out because it also offers a very nice casual sit-down restaurant where you can enjoy your excellent food. Bit more expensive than take-away from the front of the shop, of course, but well worth it if you want a slightly more 'upmarket' and relaxed dining experience. Either in or out, the fish and chips can be relied upon to be 'one of the best'.
