Came here yesterday with my family first time in ages since we have been here was lovely to see nothing had changed. The staff was very welcoming and friendly when we arrived and quickly got us a table we roughly knew what we was ordering as we had looked on the menu before hand but still looked to see some wonderful dishes. We orderd a mac and cheese for the little one with the Double Dirty Combo and two Pitmasters when the food arrived it looked so good was hot so you can tell it was fresh and hadn't been sitting around for ages was well worth the money and will definitely be coming back for more as we have been a fan of this place for many years and have never had any problems.

Overall, very nice. We were having a mini-celebration and asked if they had some sparklers to put in desert. They only had candles, which, as it was not a birthday, were not appropriate. This is not a big deal, just would have been nice, as seen it done in other restaurants. Our waitress was Amelia and she was very friendly and helpful. Only other observation, three of us had sirloin steak, cooked blue and rare, all were rather tougher than we would have liked, although the taste was good

I'm giving this place a solid 5 stars. Went here after visiting Tollgate for a quick bite to eat. There was plenty of parking even on a Saturday afternoon. Our waitress was Laura and I have to say I'm impressed, very friendly and super attentive. I watched in awe as she shared the same amount of energy and attentiveness with every table she served. The food was hot and tasty and for the price the portions were fantastic. The salad bar was fresh, well stocked and tasty. Especially the bread which was still warm. My first visit to this Harvester but certainly won't be my last.

Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff all the way through. I actually liked being served at the salad bar, instead of helping yourself previously. Bread rolls were hot and delicious. Food was great. Served piping hot, and very fresh. Dessert as well was delicious. I think it works booking a table online and staggering arrivals. Maybe these changes could be kept once we are free of covid. What I didn't like was the plates. I don't think the colours of the plates and design do your meals justice. Just an observation .

The food was good. The service was excellent. Our server was called Laura. She was friendly, attentive but not overbearing. At the salad bar we were served by a gentleman called Jason. He was helpful, very friendly and polite. Produced a banging bowl of salad too. Laura and Jason earned that tip and then some. Thanks guys :)

Good pub food in a nice high-end environment with pleasant staff. The Lunch Menu is a good deal at 10.99 and runs until 5pm so good to feed the kids for a treat. I had the Salmon and Dill fish cakes and they were delicious.

We visited here whilst in the area. We got greeted upon arrival by a really friendly staff member at the door and were then looked after by Joseph who was extremely helpful and went the extra mile, he also had a lovely chat with us and asked us about our day which is rare nowadays and nice to see. We left a generous tip as we felt the service and friendliness of Joseph was fantastic and we shall definitely be returning. The other staff members were also really helpful and friendly.

Took the kids for breakfast and they loved it. Plenty of food and a smiling waitress made it a good choice. It can be hit and miss with harvester but we enjoyed it here. Good amount of parking and close to the local shops makes it a convenient place to eat, too.

Eta was my waitress during my lunch , it was obvious from arrival thay were short of waiting staff, as Eta was moving so fast to ensure everyone seated was happy and was being served everything they needed, all with the hugest smile and politeness. What an asset to your company Harvester !! Lunch rush finished and other staff appeared. Manager through the rush was nowhere to be seen !! Until after it appeared safe to come out? Preferring to walk across the car park with a pretty waitress and a large poster advert, which sure could have waited till after the rush, maybe. Food was exceptionally good, my steak and sides absolute perfection. Leaving thought, Eta should be a manager as she was an absolute credit xxx Cant wait to return and will be worth 3 hr round trip, if Eta on duty that is? Love Harvester xxx

To be honest I think harvester is over priced for what it is. It was ok food but expensive. We only went there as we had a 50%off voucher other wise we wouldn't have gone. Staff serve you the salad cart but customers were right next to the staff member... a bit to close for my liking. Place looked clean and Staff were lovely x

Looking for somewhere to eat on our travels, saw this Harvester was near by so decided to eat here. Have had mixed experiences with Harvesters over the years but both my wife and I agreed this was the best we've been in. Staff were amazing (waiter Ralph especially) Food was really nice, place was VERY clean and smelled fresh. Deffinatly worth 5/5 stars

I have regraded this from a 3 to a 4 star. I should have talked with the staff about the meal not being perfect but as I was with someone else paying for the dinner, I didn't want to make a fuss. Not 5 stars due to very few salad bar options at our visit. It was a 5pm visit so would have hoped for a pretty stocked salad bar.

This is not my normal Harvester to go to and I would not come back if I had the choice of going to the Chelmsford one. The meal was good "ish" and the waiter was friendly but the salad bar is what let it down for us all. It was a mess. The butter was just lumps of butter floating around in water! Which we found mighty strange therefore putting us all off it. The choice of other salads wasn't anywhere near as good as we normally get. The food was generally good but everyone who had chips(including me) said they were overcooked. The menu at the moment is really good and has plenty of choices. The venue it's self could do with a refresh if you ask me as it feels a little cramped trying to get from one end to the other(not much room to get past some tables). Conclusion is I have been to a lot nicer harvester's than this one and while service and food was ok it could be better.

Really pleased to see self service salad bar back again, but no olive's. I ordered full rack of ribs which was very good. My wife had the original combo and when it arrived the chicken was so burnt and dry it was inedible. We told a waitress (Sara) who just gave us a bad look and whipped the plate away without saying a word. Firstly I don't think that food should be served in this condition, and also the waitress attitude was very rude. Eventually the meal was replaced by another member of staff who apologised this was fine.

Nice and quiet but expected with the time of year. A little disappointed that not all facilities were open as we really wanted to make similar memories as we had with our daughter. Grand daughter truly loved it though especially the elephant feed; an excellent birthday treat for the little 2 Yr old. Great day out and lovely weather to go with it. The zoo have done great especially after the pandemic. Well done and keep going. You do a marvelous job.

Booked for a large party of 10/11 for my sons birthday. Very impressed with lovely large dining space given to us and the staff were lovely, particularly our waitress who was new…we couldn’t tell, she was amazing! The quality of the food has always been of a high quality and the waiting staff are welcoming. The only slight critique I would have is that sometimes the music can be a little bit too loud, but the staff always turn it down whenever I ask.

We had a table booked for 5.30 and thank goodness we did because the car park was full. People parking over two spaces meant we squeezed into the last space. The table wasn't ready when we got there but the front of house was so polite and friendly, and it wasn't too long of a wait. The waitress was just as friendly considering how busy it was, you'd forgive them to be slightly abrupt but that wasn't thr case at all. The food was nice, hot throughout and no problems with the meals. Only negative was that I was never offered another drink and no one came to ask how the food was so I couldn't ask then. But we'll most definitely be back, and will definitely book and not risk a walk in!

Stanway harvester has come a long way from what it was pre lockdown. We celebrated my daughters 16th bday dinner with family and friends and had a gala time. They were able to accomodate our large group and were able to take care of us well.. well done harvester!.. they have a varied menu which caters for both vegetarian and non veg tastes. They have adequate parking on site which is always a plus. And ofcourse the salad bar is back... 😊

I visited Stanway harvester this evening with my family. On arrival I was seated by a friendly man. Our server then came over and took our drinks order and we received them almost straight after. I don’t know her name but she was very attentive. She was very knowledgeable when I had questions regarding the menu. Salad bar was clean and I much prefer it not being self serve especially under the current climate, it was a much more hygienic way compared to when we were able to help ourselves. Our visit throughout was lovely and we had a very enjoyable time. All of the staff were in high spirits and nothing was to much trouble. I know hospitality took a big hit during covid and I would just like to say thank you for such a nice evening. I highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely be returning!!

Those five stars go to the fantastic staff!! Honestly, wonderful accommodating hosts with a great sense of humour. The food is also very good and certainly value for money. I’ve yet to have a bad experience here. A group of friends and I often choose this as a venue to meet up after a long time of not seeing each other as it caters to all of our tastes and dietary requirements. Would highly recommend for an enjoyable evening.

Such a rarity these days to come out of a restaurant 100% happy. There's almost always something you wasn't happy with... you waited too long for your food or the bill, your table wasn't spotless, cutlery was covered in water marks, missing items. We left Stanway Harvester today having experienced the best service and best food we have EVER had. Host was genuinely happy to have us visit (even got a hello from one of the guys in the kitchen!), food was cooked perfectly and arrived super quick - we didn't wait or have an issue with a single thing. Prices are cheap and more than affordable for the amazing experience we've had today - great memories in a great restaurant. Thanks to the harvester Stanway team for a quality meal this evening!!!!°

I booked a table for 14 and had the pleasure of Alexandru the deputy manager taking care of our every need throughout our meal. He wore a smile constantly, nothing was too much to ask and he was so efficient, polite and orders all came out on time. The moment we walked through the door we had an absolutely fantastic welcome. Young lad and manager got our table ready, showed us to our tables (10 of us). Me and my wife was out shopping and decided to pop in for lunch at the harvester, personally I haven't been in a harvester for a number of years and was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. We ordered from the lunch menu (3 course), there was plenty of variety to choose from and we both came away absolutely stuffed for £16 per head, talk about value ! The food was of amazing quality, everything was piping hot and there was no skimpy portions here at all ! Our server Boysie was brilliant and he made sure we had everything we needed, nothing was too much trouble for him, he is a absolute credit to the restaurant! Everything about our visit was 5* ! Visited on a Sunday evening, booked online, great service from Colin, who is very amiable and good fun but efficient. It's been a few years since visiting a Harvester, but pleased that the menu is still similar, good value and tasty. Stanway is certainly the best Harvester I have visited, clean, and well maintained. Brilliant experience as usual, me and my Wife were served by Joe, he done a fantastic job and made us feel very comfortable, mind you whenever we do go here ALL of the staff are fantastic, the food is spot on too, I always order the cheese burger and their so juicy and filling, when we visit we always feel like elephants, we've been here 3 times in the last 5 months (don't get out too much) and this is always our go to place for lunch. The chef also took the gammon off the menu today due to there being too much fat on it and it not being a good cut of meat, which is fantastic to know that this chef and company go to that length of effort to ensure you enjoy your meal. so thanks Harvester for a fantastic service and meal!

We booked last minute online but had a table for two. Welcome was warm and quickly seated. Menu offers a good range of mainly grilled items. My partner went with the bird, surf and turf, which was cooked to her taste. I had good, chips and mushy peas, all beautifully cooked. The cops were crispy on outside and fluffy in the centre. The entire meals were very good, the only minus was some gristle in the steak, but overall a positive experience of staff and food.

Had a Christmas meal at The Harvester on the 24th, we had a party of twelve and they initially tried to seat us at a ten person space, this was easily rectified by a table being brought over for us. Our hostess was a lovely woman named Laura, made sure everything was great, and even turned down the AC for a member of the family who was too hot. The food was really nice, as we were a large party we had a very diverse range being ordered. I personally ordered from the set list, which was very reasonably priced, the food came out promptly and handed to us with smiles. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the food. The decor is very comforting, it feels exactly like a dining room, and there is enough space around the tables that you aren't seated on top of the people next to you. The kids were given crayons and coloring paper to keep them amused between meals. My only slight is the lighting up above, I understand that it's an extremely tall building, but an extendable pole could easily reach the dust and cobwebs that are collecting up there! It does somewhat make you uncomfortable when a large piece of dust floats down to your table. Overall, it was very reasonably priced, the portions were a nice size and tasted great. I would definitely eat here again.

What can I say. I don’t understand why this harvester has such bad reviews. Every time I go in the restaurant is always very good, even in busy times. I’ve never had a problem and I visit at least once a month, the ribs are always cooked nicely and the meat isn’t dry at all. The chef cooking yesterday about 4 did a really good job. As a chain this is possibly the best I’ve been too, the other branch’s I’ve been too some staff haven’t been very friendly and the food has always been very dry and horrid. The overall restaurant is clean and too a good standard when I go. There is one member of staff I would like to recognise at this branch and that’s Laura, every time I have been she is normally my waiter and offers great service and always makes me want to come back, and extra thing that I thought was extremely good of her is to offer to delay the order for us yesterday as we were still waiting for another member of are party to arrive the other day. The only way I can see on how this could Improve if they can make it so there is table numbers on the table, so it is easier to pay via the app. I look forward to coming again soon.

However, by the time we got our food quite a lot of it wasn't as hot as we would've hoped, it was still edible but wasn't the best meal I've had; it seemed as though the chicken with melted cheese had slightly melted cheese placed on top of the chicken rather than actually having the cheese melted onto the chicken. We visited as a family of 3 (two adults and a six year old) for our first restaurant visit (since reopening of restaurants to eat in) during lockdown for COVID19 pandemic. We were, as you can imagine, a little nervous about if we would feel safe and how the new norm would work. We were fully expecting to have to sacrifice salad bar and unlimited refill drinks as we knew buffet style eating was not allowed as per gov guidance. We were so pleasantly surprised when our waiter, Jack, informed us we could have both! Selection at the salad bar slightly reduced and both were served to us by a staff member, no trouble. Jack was fantastic, very attentive, charismatic and engaging with our little boy. Food was prompt and of the fantastic quality we have come to love from Harvester. We saw tables and chairs being cleaned thoroughly after one party left before another was seated. Overall we felt relaxed, content and SAFE! Thank you Harvester Stanway and thank you Jack!

I love how family friendly this restaurant is. I'm never afraid to bring the kids here! As there is an unlimited salad bar with each main meal it means the kids can start filling up a bowl as soon as we get there - great for my son who is always hungry. The first time I went I wasn't expecting much from the menu but actually there was a great variety of food and everything I've had so far has been delicious and the reasonable prices make it even better. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. When it is quiet we are very often given an out-of-the-way corner all to ourselves so that the kids have some space to play while they're waiting for their food, without bothering other customers. Highly recommend!

We have been there before and the food is good and the setting and atmosphere is good. The only bad thing that happened this time around was all the tables were booked. Some were still empty, but were booked. We arrived at 5pm. We were told we had to wait an hour and a half to get a table. Should there be an hour and a half wait? Others might be able to have that table, not just us, but anyone who is just as hungry. Were those tables really booked? Or were they booked by someone playing a prank? This has happened many times before. No one turns up and everyone else has to go without because that table is booked. We found out that this had happened somewhere else. It was done as a joke. It makes the restaurant lose business because they have to turn other good clients away, not just us, and they lose them because of these pranksters. Sad. We had to go somewhere else. Sad because we like that place.

The food is great and the staff are very friendly. The only reason for four stars is that service at the bar can be quite slow and I wasn't acknowledged as a waiting customer until I was served. The barman walked passed, did something in the back room for a minute or two, then came back to me. I was the only one waiting to be served at the bar so a simple "I'll be with you in a moment" would have given this a five-star.

This had just I believe been refurbished it looked fantastic, but the food did not meet with expectations at all. We had been there for a coffee meeting and stayed for lunch the waitress was run of het feet there was 8 of us, I order steak bun the cold slaw looked like it had been hung around for ages I did return it for a better one, but worse was the steak bun the onions and mushrooms in the base of the bun were stone cold and my steak was supposed to be medium rare wa very rare and cold. I had also refillable tea, but could not get he waitress attention to get a refill, so I paid for something I did not get. Everyone in my party had same problems with there meals. Not sure I will go back for lunch again

This is a pretty grotty Harvester. I have had good meals and bad meals from here. However, breakfast is very good and very reasonable. It really needs a good refurbishment, and an expansion because I always seem to have to sit in the bar for ages before actually getting a table.

Bank holiday so a 45 Mon wait for a table. Staff friendly, salad bar lacked variety and ran out of rolls. Mains a bit stingy on the fries and had to order more. Macaroni cheese for kids is more like mixed veg with a few pieces of macaroni rather than the other way round. Not especially cheap either.

I booked a table for 7, the 3 people before us were given the table for 7 which meant we had to wait over 25 mins for a table. When I complained I was told they were waiting on 4 more people to arrive. They arrived 35mins late..Surely it would have been prudent to have gave the us the table of 7 as we were all there & had 3 young children with us. I found it extremely disappointing for our first time here. Especially has we had travelled over 50 to reach here. So not happy... But food and service was fine, but the wait spoilt it..

Harvesters seem to have got more expensive but not had an improvement in quality of food. Most meat stuff is just about ok but vegetables are over cooked and tastless. Salad bar not that interesting. If they are not careful they will price themselves out of the market as the food is not much different from wetherspoons.

Not bad after the refurb however when you go with two small kids and hear the assistant manager with a beard in red shirt (think his name was ryan) swearing not good at all. The lady server I had was nice but what you get for the food was expensive. Ordered surf and turf for £15.99 and steak came out rare when ordered well done and only 3 crackerjack prawns. Will write to harvester and get this sorted out but just being honest. Bit short for what you pay for it. We haven't been to this Harvester since the face lift, the staff were great, helpful and got our orders right etc. The downfall was our breakfasts, the eggs were poached and just too under cooked, they put my wife right off, also the continental part of the breakfast used to have alot more options, bit of a step backwards if I'm honest.
