Top quality as always. Glorious setting. Attentive staff. Wonderful menu. Stunning wine list. Delicious and beautifully presented food. Yes, expensive, but no surprise there and actually great value for money.

Gorgeous setting by the River Stour, well presented and delicious food with attentive staff. Separate vegan and vegetarian menu with two options for each course for each. Exceedingly poor gluten free options (even when notified in advance via the booking), no vegetarian gluten free options so ended up having two starters and being charged full price. Wedding on at the same time but not disturbed in any way. Ample parking.

Friendly, professional welcome, great attention by staff, no pressure.
All four courses were superb.
My only criticism - this is fine dining, but no fish cutlery was offered for the stone bass dish, and no dessert forks with the dessert spoons.
If it had been me having the fish I would have asked for fish cutlery, but it was my husband and he didn't want to ask.
I have strong views about letting standards drop, especially at this level.

Expensive, very expensive, but it is worth it. I think that this is almost at the standard of a Michelin star, but my wife (who knows far more about food than me) thinks that it is there already. The service is excellent but if it is to get that star there are just a few very very minor things to sort, notably remembering which guest ordered which dish. We will definitely return for another special occasion.

It was a first visit to the restaurant & we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. For mains we had the beef which was superb, cooked exactly how we like it. The staff were very friendly, would have given 5 stars but our dessert order didn't get put through, so bit of a wait. We didn't mind too much as they kindly supplied us with a free drink. Worth a visit, especially for those special occasions.

In one word: overpriced.
I want to stress out that I mean overpriced, not just expensive. We've been to expensive restaurants with my partner in the past and we had really high expectations for Talbooth. However, to charge £38 for some rabbit you must put a lot of knowledge in that plate and that simply wasn't there. Was it good? Absolutely. Did I like it? Yes! Was it any better than other rabbit I had somewhere else for £20? No.
I understand you pay for the location, for the service and for everything else but: location is nice, yes, especially if you dine outside next to the river it's honestly wonderful (if you're one of the lucky ones with the river view, I was sitting facing the wall so..), indoor looked just okay very old and elegant but nothing super fancy. Service was okay, just kind and professional.. I'd say as expected from a place like this so again nothing incredible.
There's ample parking but no signs so you just have to guess. The entrance is also right after a long curve with no signs to warn you so try to take it slow.
Going back to the food, everything was nice but hardly worth the price. The "ragu" that came with the lamb was pulled beef, not ragu. The grilled cabbage tasted like charcoal in some parts. The meat however was cooked perfectly.
All in all a nice experience but won't come back. It felt like the prices were high partially because of the quality and partially to keep the clientele within a certain bracket.

Incredible service at the Bordeaux Dinner. Can’t fault the attention to detail which helped create a very special atmosphere. Food was superb. How do they do it on such a scale? Well done.

As part of the milsoms group you know you will be in great hands. The grounds are looked after to the highest standard. Of course this is all handled by some amazing staff. Perfect venue just off the A12 for your dream wedding
