Nice and friendly environment (although it can get a bit loud when it's really busy) with lovely staff, good food, cheap prices and big portions. Food quality is okay but you get what you pay for and you do get a lot, so no complaints there. The only downside is the toilet wasn't clean, the floor was completely soaked... And it wasn't something you'd like to smell during your meal. Overall it's a good place for a quick bite to eat.

Decided to try again after a mediocre meal last time, so glad we did, vast improvement, friendly staff, clean environment and a lovely 'big breakfast'. I'm usually a big eater but even I couldn't manage to eat it all, left the diner full and contented, will definately be back 👍

Just off the A12 at Marks Tey, this place is a Little Gem. Inside and outside seating with American Dining vibes. We had a breakfast and it was reasonably priced. Great milkshakes and good breakfasts.

Friendly staff, clean. Good selection of drinks, American based menu. My son had a pizza and it was big, with a great dough base and plenty of toppings. I had the New Yorker burger, it was large with plenty of fries. My wife had the vegetarian burger again large, and was told it tasted good. We will be going back 😀

Arranged a meet with our ladies petrolhead club yesterday, we arrived and parked up easily, we were greeted at the door and our details were taken for covid tracing before we could enter, food and drinks were ordered and we sat outside, the food arrived promptly and was generous in proportion and flavour! The venue is perfect for respectful car and bike meets, it is in a residential area so they request people leave as quietly as possible which we tried to do. Hopefully we can come back for more regular meets. The booking process was easy and the staff were all friendly and helpful upon arrival and throughout our visit!

Pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! Was a lovely atmosphere and prices and portion sizes were great! I was expecting quality of food to reflect on the price but they definitely didn’t! The quality of the food was amazing thoroughly enjoyed my meal and will be returning. Glass bottle cokes so you get that good taste not like other restaurants who serve watered down stuff! Also recommend their milkshakes! Will definitely be recommending to family and friends as a whole family could afford to eat here and walk out feeling satisfied and not robbed!

I attended the DCUK car meet on Easter Sunday. The venue was clean, tidy and the staff did a great job at keeping it like that throughout the day. All the staff gave an A star service. I was lucky enough to taste their burger, fries and milkshake which were delicious, highly recommend. In the photo here we are standing proud infront of the diner. I want to say a massive thank-you to the diner team for helping make the day enjoyable and for providing a safe place for us all. We will be back!!!

Found ourselves here by accident due to traffic problems, had an amazing burger and chips that we could barely finish. Great 50s feel and friendly staff, and the food is excellent value for money. Rumour has it they do a fabulous breakfast so I'll be back. Edit:. Went back yesterday for breakfast, small menu which is usually a sign that they will do what they do well. They didn't disappoint. A fine full English at a great price. One of our party had a very American bacon on waffles with maple syrup which I've always thought sounded like something a 9 year old would put together then regret but it was yummy.

What a lovely place! Heard good things but had never visited. Met a couple of chums for breakfast. We all had a brew and Eggs Benedict. Food was good, brew was good, service was friendly. My only comment would be dont try to squeeze 4 people in the booths on the left hand side.. The bill was staggering! I inadvertently paid for the whole table thinking i was paying for just myself. It was a steal. Will be returning very soon

Unbelievable food at a great price. I drove past the diner a few days ago and was determined to try it out. So glad I did. The burgers are excellent. The chicken nuggets really meaty and the onion rings to die for. Only a little moan. The fries are more like small chips rather than fries, but apart from that we loved it all. The interior is kitted out like a 60's dinner jukebox playing great music at a level loud enough to hear but not drown out a conversation. Milk shakes are great, ideally should be bigger as they are just superb. Friendly staff to boot makes it a place we will go back to again and again.

For months we have driven past the Diner and each time said we will stop to eat there one day, and tonight we did. We were made welcome and the service was attentive and prompt without being over powering. The menu has a lot of choice and we went for the milkshakes and burgers. Don’t be put off by photos of small basket of chips on the menu as you get loads. I chose the double burger and my wife and daughter chose the regular cheese burgers and we were maxed but the time we had finished. The burgers are meaty and flavoursome and not made of cheap processed meat. The staff were great and we had a chat after eats and they are doing a great job. If you are around Marks Tey in Essex, don’t just carry onto the A12 missing them, or if you are coming off the A12 at Marks Tey why not turn left at the roundabout and stop for a warm welcome and great food. We will be eating there again 👍🏼

Good value English breakfast, tasty just as expected, ate the lot. Homemade pancakes not good to be honest. Being a main feature on the breakfast menu hoped they would be much fluffier and not chewy. They forgot the drinks but made them fairly quick after we asked. Would come back for the fry up.

I have known this site for many years and for as long as I can remember there has been an eatery there. Other establishments around it may come and go (remember the Foodhall?). Although it has had a couple of re-incarnations, each one has been quite distinct. From the original "greasy spoon" café to its current guise of Americana, but the food has always been good. The current staff are very friendly and helpful, the menu is interesting, the decor is American classic even down to the jukebox. I enjoyed my burger and my colleague enjoyed their version of a chilli-dog with fries. Suffice to say "i will be back"

I have always found the diner food to be good, atmosphere nice - a reasonable place to go for an enjoyable meal However, I arranged for 10-12 friends to meet for breakfast on Sunday. Booking 2 tables of 6 , booking made 27 may for 4 July. My friends arrived to be told no booking was made and there were no tables the staff were very rude, but finally they sat my friends for breakfast and told them they had an hour and had to clear the table. There were no apology or attempt to appease the situation The Diner needs to 1. Close the Google/quantro booking facility. They are aware it doesn't work yet bookings can still be made through it 2.improve customer service skills I belong to a large ladies group in Essex, who meet regularly for brunch and they've just lost any future service with us which is a shame If you are thinking of going phone direct to book!

We visited the Bungalow Diner last weekend for breakfast with a few friends for breakfast. We were initially shocked that we had to go up and order our own food and didn't receive table service, although this was also a positive as it meant our group of friends didn't need to break down the receipt at the end of the meal. We found there was not much choice on the breakfast menu as some of our friends were hoping for. I, myself was happy with the Bungalow Breakfast that I received. Overall, I'd definitely return to the Bungalow Diner and would recommend it to others as long as you know that you have to go up to the counter to order and pay for your food in advance and that the Manu isn't as comprehensive as other restaurants.

The food was of an outstanding quality and the portions were very reasonable, it came in for just under £10 per person (drink and main). The wait staff was extremely friendly and other than missing extra coleslaw, service was perfect. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and despite it being his first day, he got most of our order correct. Definitely be coming back or ordering for takeaway! Definitely reccomend

Be prepared to be pleasantly surprised. I had the warm beef salad which was delicious. Jacket potato was lovely too. Hubby had burger and fries and he said they were the nicest fries he'd ever tasted (and trust me that man has eaten a LOT of fries!). Only downside we noted was jukebox kept cutting out and sometimes so loud you had to more or less shout over it. Mash, the owner, is lovely, friendly, kind and so attentive. For his staff, like him, nothing is too much trouble. Good good, reasonably priced and clean. Lovely! We'll be back for sure 😋

This was a quirky, cool looking place & had plenty of choice on the menu, with 3 fussy eaters who all found something to pick pretty quick, food was fresh & cooked perfect with affordable & reasonable pricing, the service was also faultless infact we were in & out in a good timely manner.. so why only 4 stars.. the only reason we dropped a star here was the menus themselves, there was 3 seperate sections to it & some double sided which meant for a table of 7 we had 21 of them to share about when we eventually worked out who had which one already we had more drinks ones than mains so ended up just sharing them anyway, personally I wouldn't take anything off the menu but perhaps a redesign of how these can be put together but that said if the menus are my only criticism then I'd say this place was well worth a visit & we would definitely go back!

A few weeks later, I drove past, recognised the place, and stopped in. Have eaten here many times, mostly breakfast. The food is competitively priced and the quality and portions are decent. The turn around time on the food after ordering has always pretty swift in my experience. The staff are friendly and attentive. They take card payments, though I believe that there is a low limit, but I haven't encountered this yet. (I maybe spend on average £6-10 depending on how fat I'm feeling that day) WC is a bit small, but facilities have always been in good shape whenever have needed them. Plenty of parking, right outside.

Have only ever visited for breakfasts, slightly overpriced for what you get but if you’re hungover and fancy a big fat greasy fry up this is definitely the place to go. The staff are always friendly and the car park is an ideal size. There are car shows on there occasionally too

Formerly The bungalow cafe, which i used to use as a youngster 20 years ago. After severel pints in the pub at Coggeshall about 6 of us used to roar out motorbikes to the cafe to have beans on toast.
