Great car very. Accommodated us at short notice, changed tables so we could breastfeed comfortably. Superb food and eat as much as you like. Would definitely return here.

A very pleasant carvery. It handled our party of 25 with smooth skill. The starter bar was excellent as was the carvery meat choice and roast potaoes and yorkshires. Vegetables rather overcooked for my taste. Pudding selection was very good and coffee was nice

We always go here when visiting our friends,for Sunday carvery lunch. We've been doing this for at least 12 years now, they live in Maldon and we live in Northamptonshire. We have never had a bad meal and would not want to go anywhere else a fab meal everytime, thank you to all who work at The New Times.

Disappointed staff did not wear masks staff also not very friendly,, ok so not rude. Will return as the food was good, as there was eleven of us the deserts ran out ! No one in my party complained. It was a bit strange that in these times where most pubs complain of lack of business, I felt they didn't want us there.. may be it was just me. But I'm not the only one to review this place in the same manner. To sum up Its glum!!!!

Really upset when we turned up to find that it was no longer a carvery. We had looked forward to it all day there was quite a bit of choice but all very dry meals mostly with chips. When our food was served the plates were cold and we all left some chips that also turned cold. Please bring back the carvery 6 days a week like it used to be.

Lovely garden with benches, the carvery was quite tasty and you can help yourself to more veg as and when. Friendly family atmosphere set in rural location. Will pop in again when in the area.

I've been coming here for 10 years now, with what started as family dinners but now happily come for Sunday roasts with my partner too. Over those 10 years the food has been consistently excellent. For the low price that you pay, you receive good quality food, good service and as big servings as you'd like. You can tell it's a local business and run with passion! They also do Christmas (etc.) meals, which include the quaint little touches. I recommend booking a day or more ahead for Sunday's as it can be very popular!

Friendly staff and cosy location. Went on Monday lunchtime so not too busy. The wife had fish pie (which she liked), while I had a tasty, well-filled. minced beef and onion pie - well worth £11 for the two. My brother & sister-in-law are over from Spain for a flying visit in a few weeks, and this is where they suggested we had the obligatory get-together (29 people in total), this time for the Carvery. Should be good.

I have not been to the new times for some years, it is a shame as it was all very old and shabby, it looked like it had not changed since I used to drink in there with my friends in the late nineties, we had the carvery and it was very bland, not a lot of choice in vegetables and what there was seemed to be boiled far to long. The waiting staff was very friendly and good at there job, so waiting staff 🌟🌟🌟🌟 cook/food🌟🌟 building 🌟.

We had Sunday roast here which was lovely very tasty, the meat was out of this world. The chef was also happy to sort a meal out for my vegan friend which she said was very tasty also. The decor needs a little update but staff were very friendly.

Carvery- superb. This place can do roast potatoes. Beef is very special. Decor- has not been touched for maybe 50 years, so is in a bit of a time warp. Not the point, and really rather charming. People come here for an incredible value for money carvery restaurant.

Passed the New Times many times before finally visiting today. This is excellent place to eat and drink, especially the Carvery, although other good menu items are available. Even on a busy day the service was good and food delivery prompt. Their kitchen is clearly we'll run to support the service. All at a very reasonable price. A good place to try if in Tiptree or passing through😊.

We have been to this place twice before and will certainly go back again. The first time we found it by accident and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the starters and the great carvery. The second time we took friends and they are usually very critical with food but said this was the best carvery they had been to and they would go again. Just wish it was open longer hours. Tiptree carvery is a fresh change from any of the big carvery chains. Yes it is like stepping back in time a little with the decor but that just adds to the character of the place. The starters of cold meats, roll mops & salad really gets the apatite going before a more home cooked style roast. It doesn't feel like the food is on a conveyer belt unlike the big chains. The deserts were just fantastic. The staff were rushed off their feet but still smiled as they came to the table. Only downside to me was walking through the bar full of locals to get to the restaurant.

There is a lovely starter bar, or soup if preferred. Main meal is a carvery (or alternatives). Selection of desserts. Cannot give 5 stars as the roast potatoes always let them down. Often have that "warmed up" taste, and even when fresh, are not tasty. I think they must roast them in water rather than in the near juices.

The food is good, it's not expensive, and all the staff are welcoming and friendly. Generally a great atmosphere all round. In response to Mark Richardson's comment, I doubt the carpet is 30 years old, and in any case I prefer to eat my food off a plate rather than a carpet.

This restraunt and pub has ample parking and, if the weather is kind a lovely beer garden. The only down side on the garden is that there are roads on two side so small children must be supervised. This also extends to a large pond in the garden. There are also several tables and seats available in the garden. Inside the decoration is dated but functionable. Staff are extremely helpful and always happy to chat and smile, even when rushed off their feet. The menu is clear and very reasonable. It doesn"t matter if you have the carvery on order from the menu, the food selection is very good as well as varied. Very recently I was there as just one in a party of 12. A good time had by all and not a single complaint or suggestion of a complaint. Looking forward to our next visit.

Went in to dine in as a family of four. The whole experience from start to finish is great. The staff was friendly and kind. The food can’t get better and the prices are fair for the portion size. We are definitely coming back.

A real surprise. Wasn't expecting much, with it being a pub with an indian restaurant but the meal was really good. It was empty, shame as the place is nicely decorated and quite inviting but the service food and cleanliness was very good and we had a really nice birthday lunch. The Beef Kalimirch is fist class. Looking forward to returning soon.
