Excellent service and tasty fish and chips. Not too crowded during day time but gets busy at night. Park at lidl on the opposite side to grab a quick meal. I love the curry sauce with my fish and chips

Fantastic fish and chip shop. Pleasant seating area, great tasting food and with menu options that are a twist on the usual. Best fish and chip shop I've been in for ages. Extremely fast service. You won't be disappointed.

We really like going here. Very tasty fish and chips. Well cooked. The service is good. The seating is comfortable and clean. It's a shame they stopped the healthy salmon and tuna options (rice and non-fried fish) they were really tasty. The children's options are fun ~ they love the bucket and spade they come in (which they can take home). 🐟 would recommend

Without doubt the best fish and chips in the area, super tasty and excellent service. Can eat in if so desire but only a small eating area. The decor and lighting is unusual. Parking is at the back of the shop.

Fantastic fish. Always so fresh and tender. Chips usually perfect but tonight some were lovely and fresh but almost half looked like they were sitting around for a long time, brown and soggy. Please consider chucking out the old nasties and serve your customers the fresh stuff to keep your 5 star rating!

Ordered Fish and Chips last night and disappointed with the service. First issue was that one meal ordered was missed. Had to wait an additional 10 minutes for this order to be prepared and then one item was not as ordered. On the plus side the fish was good as were the chips and sides.

My fave chippy! Lovely fresh food cooked to order and batter is always crisp, never soggy or overly greasy. Good portion sizes and cheaper than my local chippy. Will be going back!

We tried the shop on different times of the days, the fish is consistently good, the chips are consistently poor. Lots of chips bits, very small and hard. Two large chips convert into one medium. Very mixed impressions. Really a shame as fish is good.

It's becoming the norm to wait over the estimated time for your order. Tonight's order took over 50 minutes to prepare. Will we return? Yes but if the waiting time isn't sorted out it may sad to say be the last.

The food wasn't very hot. It tasted okay but the chips were not as good as we have had previously. I could find very little fish in my fish cake. There is a lot of wasted packaging. It is a warm and comfortable place to wait.

Consistently good fish and chips. The meal deals are cheap enough and while they are not the largest portions they fill a hole and are great quality. Staff are generally friendly and they seem to enjoy their work for the most part which always comes across well as a customer. Keep up the good work all at George's.

First time using the web to order food, ordered fish n chips and add 75p to go large which I did bit at checkout it was 80p so that was wrong. I collected them no problems. Got home n must say disappointed on the size of a large chips cus no way was it worth £8.30 for a fish n chips n very small caryon of pea's. Portion size not good, think I was given small not the extra I paid for. Was tasty though.

Lovely fish and chips! Very tasty and super hot - still hot when I got back to Alvaston. Really quick service. The large cod is very large but you get just the right amount of chips with it so it is not too much. Peas were good too...not watery and just the right amount.

Nice food. I must say it has improved through the years. The food is hot and fresh. I must say I think the food is overpriced for the normal menu but the smaller appetizer meals and the meals for around a pound are really good value for money. I haven't been disappointed at all in recent times. Quite a good chippy now and one you can enjoy.

I mean the food was good. I have no qualms with the flavour or cook of what I ordered, however, I take umbridge with the awful wait time. For 2 goujons and a small chips, I waited 35 minutes. I really can't understand how. Even cooked fresh it shouldn't have taken 35 minutes for it. Whilst I'm no complainer, it would have been nice for the staff members to acknowledge the wait time. I appreciate they're busy but I also didn't expect such a wait for a £3.25 spend. On the matter of price, again I'm satisfied. But I can't get over the wait time. I've eaten in restaurants to be served, fed and had time for desert in the same time. But alas, we cannot strive for perfection.

This fish and chip shop attempts to be upmarket and stylish yet the food served could be described as average. While the takeaway if frequently used by locals it is only, as far as i can tell, popular due to being in walking distance.

Still good quality but seems to be slipping a bit from previous consistently high standards. Haddock was the smallest I have ever had at George's and chips were not cooked freshly. Wooden cutlery and paper plates have always been a mistake.

Amazing taste to chips. All usuals as to be expected but plenty of new items on menu. No doubt there are plenty of traditionalists who want massive portions so they can maintain their huge waistlines but I far prefer quality over quantity. Would happily recommend to anyone.

We are in Georges Chellaston at the moment feeling very disappointed with our meals, this is the third time in a row that we have been given barely warm chips which were a mixture of old and fresh . On the other two occasions I have complained to the staff and they did replace them, however I don't feel they have learnt anything so this time we just haven't eaten them but felt I needed to make myself heard another way. Come on Georges pull your socks up A disappointed normally frequent customer.

The chips there are okay but once I got them and the were slightly raw so that's a slight waste of money like its not hard to cook them aha but yh the first things I got when it first opened was battered sausage and chips yet the sausage was the most disgusting thing I've ever tasted, it tasted like feet and smelt like it to so I only go there for chips yet once I got a battered fish small thing and it was swimming it salt and grease like ew Georges get ur facts right, I miss the old chip shop called Andrews there kebabs were peng tbh
