This place is honestly so lovely!! The staff were so friendly and recommended the best dishes and portion sized for our group. Every single item we ordered was so tasty, and arrived quickly and fresh and hot from the kitchen. Definitely will be back!!!

My husband and I love Spain. We often visit this country. We were in Lorentes for the first time. We ordered sangries, Iberian ham and cheese board and Paella. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed when we saw that we were served crackers instead of fresh bread and olive oil :( In each Spanish restaurant, guests start with bread and olive oil. As for Paella, it was very simple. No Spanish wines on the menu. The prices are very reasonable, the service is very nice.

Booked for 230 and requested a certain table. Both were met easily. Very friendly staff with a warm casual atmosphere. The menu and the prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant as the food is very tasty and out of the 4 dishes each we had I couldn't pick a favourite. I'll definitely return when in Derby again. 10/10

Enjoyed our tapas night earlier at Lorentes. Portions are generous so pick your favourite dishes and don’t over order. Had the half portion of jamon iberico (complimentary pieces of cheese) which were delicious. Jamon kind of melted your month. Chorizo in honey, potato bravas and padron peppers were decent. Not a massive fan of the croquetas as the fillings are too mushy for my person taste. Pork cheek was strongly recommended. Service was good and attentive.

Eat here for the second time last night and had an equally great experience as the first. Both times the service has been fantastic and the food was perfect both times. Lovely, well priced drinks and a great selection of food. The Cod bites and honey Chorizo are gorgeous, highly recommend. Every single time I've come to this restaurant the food has been exceptional with service that is second to none. A true gem in the jungle of closed units and failed business ventures of Derby. Great food, drink, knowledgeable and friendly service. Packed on a Monday night because it is sooo flippin good! Loved the sea water beer, house rioja, courgette parcel, black paella, lemon cream dessert.

This place is like a cafe but with restaurant quality food. Which we feel is a shame as if the cube and atmosphere was lifted then it would be really nice. We really enjoyed what we ate and the service was good. But a few candles around etc to lift the mood would have been nice. Sizes of the plates are not huge for the money, but the taste packs a punch. Also try the sangria.

We ordered takeaway via the Lotentes website to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was delivered on time and the quality was excellent. It wasn't quite as hot as if we'd ordered in the restaurant but that's to be expected with delivery. We were impressed and recommend it.

This is a small but cozy Spanish restaurant with friendly staff. The atmosphere is quite relaxed and the food is excellent. We started with delicious warm bread and then had six tapas dishes, five of which were vegetarian and they were all lovely. The wine was also very palatable. This restaurant was recommended to me by a Spanish colleague, so I though it must be worth a try! He was proved right. They squeezed a large party in, sort of last-minute and were very accommodating. The food sizes were explained to help with ordering and it was absolutely delicious. Plenty of traditional Spanish tapas dishes to choose from, and my friends, family and I thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Definitely worth the trip!

Popped in here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Great little Tapas bar with a good variety of tasty dishes. Didn't have it myself but the Paella (freshly cooked to order) looked lovely. Friendly and helpful staff. Definitely worth a visit.

This used to be our favourite place, however the last few trips have been average. Food is just not the same quality as before, lack of flavour in the paella and the lemon pudding just had no taste. From what I have heard they have opened a restaurant in Nottingham and all their efforts go into that now.

Visited for our first post-lockdown meal out. The measures taken to protect from covid 19 were excellent but unobtrusive and did not affect our enjoyment of the meal. The customers were all spaced apart despite the small venue. The tapas was amazing and we are looking forward to coming back again.

A very intimate, yet bustling tapas and cocktail bar. Good mix of tables, some with chairs, some higher with stools as well as a small bar. The decor is also very well done so as to appear cosy and interesting. The staff were very friendly and attentive despite how busy it was in there. We tried a lot of dishes and really struggled to decide what we liked best as they were all very good. They also came out of the kitchen without too much wait, yet spaced out enough we could enjoy eating without worrying things were getting cold.I didn't have a cocktail, so can't comment on the selection available. All in all a very enjoyable evening and definitely recommended. I would suggest booking though as this was very popular, even midweek. We ended up sitting at the bar as no tables were free, but that added to the charm and enjoyment of this meal.

Excellent Tapas at reasonable prices. Decent friendly service and a nice environment. Deservedly busy on a Monday night in Derby, so book ahead if possible. The bread is amazing, and most other dishes were very flavourful. The only one that was slightly disappointing was the Oxtail on Cauliflower purée, not unpleasant, but lacking the pinch of the other dishes. All three of the puddings on the menu were good, but the Creme Catalan was the standout.

Came here on a weekday evening for dinner and i have to say the food and service was outstanding. Beautifully cooked fresh ingredients and all in a timely manner. Staff were not only well mannered but very friendly and sociable. Only reason for 4 stars is the coffee i had with desert which was unfortunately overbrewed giving a bad taste and served in a single walled glass making it difficult to drink without burning the fingers.

This is a very good Spanish tapas restaurant in Friar Gate, Derby. We had a variety of tapas - mussels, tempura vegetables, pimento peppers, spanish meat plate, hake and really lovely bread. The service was exemplary and the wine we chose was fresh tasting and complemented the good brilliantly. Do go - there was a steady stream of people coming in and enjoying their visit. Busy but not detracting from the quality at all.

I’ve been to Spain and Portugal and I’m yet to find a tapas place as wonderful as this spot. The tortilla de patatas is fantastic, their specials are varied and excellent and the service is quick, friendly and helpful. Lovely wines but sometimes you need to get a table a few days in advance (or a week over busy periods). Everyone I’ve taken here has been impressed and it’s probably my favourite restaurant in the world!

I visited Lorentes with work on a lovely Friday afternoon. We had been recommended to try this and were looking for somewhere new to eat. I love all things Spanish and Lorentes is certainly a taste of Spain. The food was exquisite. The squid and lightly battered cod pieces were cooked to absolute perfection. The cheese board reminded me of Madrid and the wine was lovely. We were even given Spanish call cards to try and learn some Spanish. The staff member was very friendly and recommended food to suit our needs. I would recommend Lorentes to anyone, it is a quaint tapas bar with great Spanish food.

Solomillo de cerdo was dry, and the pork lacked flavor and cohesiveness with the rest of the dish. There should have been a unifying flavor amongst the goat cheese, caramelized onions, and pork. It all seemed to be separate. The chorizo was good. There wasn’t too much or too little grease. The croquettes needed a drizzle of balsamic or some kind of sauce.

This is as real as Spanish bars get outside of Spain. In fact, if you transplanted this bar to Madrid you wouldn't know it started life on Friar Gate! The entire establishment fits comfortably into the middle ground between bar and restaurant that we need to see more. Here informality is the key to enjoying food, friends and drink. (Translated) Spanish restaurant. It was early on Monday, but the seats were filled with reservations and we went to the counter seat. You can see that it is a popular store. But since it was a counter, I was asked to say, “Is it delicious?” On this day, squid ink paella to finish with several kinds of tapas together! All were delicious! Especially the rice grains of squid ink paella are solid, and it is fresh and delicious that is different from the texture eaten in Japan!
