A good pub this. However, they missed 5 stars as we booked the Xmas menu online, a few days in advance. They didn't have half of this menu when they rang us 1 hour before we were booked. Just went to the bar to set up a tab, order drinks as they had the pre order. We had timed or visit nicely before the inundation. Brie wedges were nice, Korean chicken goujons good, steak lovely and hot if a teeny bit tough, onions soo much better than the flaming grill alternative. My wife's festive burger was fabulous, taking the best festive burger crown at this price point. I love a Sundae, even on a Thursdae, apologies to Niven and Pournelle for stealing there gag. The Cadburys one substitute on the festive menu was a good egg, the salted apple crumble was well average. Have to compliment the team who worked their socks off, and extremely efficient service from the kitchen too. Many thanks for a great value night out

We attended a 50th birthday for a family member, there were 25 of us and we were all really impressed with the level of service and quality of the meals. All meals were on our table at the same time within 30-40 minutes of ordering. This was a Saturday night and was busy due to a DJ being on at the other end of the pub. Which did not interfere with our conversations as could hardly hear him. Overall a great night. Many thanks to Becky and her team.

The atmosphere here is always great. Nearly always a good evening here. Location is great. Massive carpark. Wheelchair access and relatively priced drinks. The food is not great. Although the meals are cheap it doesn't excuse lack of taste. Staff are always friendly and on point.

Had a lovely meal as always, I love the crispy chilli beef! Staff were very friendly and helpful, my only criticism was how small the ice cream sundae was for the price (£4.60) and the honeycomb was missing. Definitely be back 😋

Genuine welcome from behind the bar. Ambience friendly. Breakfast tasty and great choice menu. Great place to catch up with family and friends. Breakfast prices are a bargain for what you get. Waiting staff friendly and helpful. Definitely I would recommend The Argosy in Derby.

Just been for breakfast.5/10 .had a sizler breakfast style .not the best sausage. was very burnt not mini hash browns but miny potatoes cubes eggs were not runny beans were cold .infact the whole brakfast was poor .

Food here is cheap and plentiful. We each had the jumbo mixed grill, which had steak, chicken, gammon, sausages and fried eggs along with onion rings, tomato and chips. Quite a plate full! There was quite a lot of liquid fat on the plate, and the chicken breast was a little dry. Can't complain, though, as we used a voucher for 50% off mains, which made the huge plate only £6 each. So not a venue for a special occasion or where you're trying to impress someone, but for a cheap and cheerful filling meal, this is the place.

So glad to see Shelley back, she makes us feel welcome every time we’re there, service with a smile is worth everything; especially when you’re dining in a large group like we do. We went for a birthday meal, & had all ages eating, from a one year old to 53year old & multiple orders paid for at the same table, the food all came out at the same time & was hot; which is why I can highly recommend.

Food was reasonably priced and was reasonably okay. Portions are a lot smaller than they used to be. Lost two stars due to the chef singing at the top of his voice in the kitchen right behind us. I love to see people having fun at their jobs but this was disturbing our family meal. The waitress then cleared the table even though someone in our party was still eating. This is a big no no for me and anyone else professional in the industry I would assume.

Great choices and good value. Sharron was smiling before I even got through the door - she was exceptional. It appeared they were short staffed - but the team - especially Sharron, managed to multi-task to get the meals out and the drinks served - all with a smile. Steaks were very tender.

When we family friends for birthday meal I really enjoying my vegan burger meal I never got a vegan pudding they ran out crossed fingers it be on the menu next time. Food was very hit and miss. The burger and American grill were fine, sides were good. Child's pizza was frozen cardboard and the fajitas were actually scorched onto the sizzler plate. The chef also seems to think a lump of unripened avocado is the same as quacamole.

I find this place 'Hit and Miss'. I have had some good meals and some not so good. The same goes for the service. Children can be a bit of a put- off at times also. Since this review, I have returned with a party of 20+ which was prearranged. I was really surprised and pleased how well the evening went. The service was quick and the food was excellent. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I have therefore upped my rating to 5. Well done Argosy.

The first meal out since lockdown, unfortunately it wasn't great. Booked in advance ✔ Got seated quickly ✔ Had to order & pay via App ✔ .... then it went downhill, rapidly. Took 30 mins for drinks to arrive... 45mins for food to arrive. Food arrived literally sizzling on a hot plate, tasted ok but overcooked in parts. Staff passed very occasionally, empty plates were constantly ignored. Ordered dessert & more drinks, again via the app. Took another 30mins to arrive, waitress hardly broke a smile when serving. Overall impression.... painfully slow service, food was pleasant when eventually received. Would I return? Sadly, no.

We drop in for a quick meal. Service was fine and they are following government guidelines, track and trace is being used, and it was busy. Food wise it is was ok, but the table as well as the menu was sticky! Staff were pleasant. Would I go again, probably not.

The only downside in my opinion is, the decor is getting very "tired and worn". Some seating is ripped and the gents toilets are quite grubby... Apart from that little gripe, we love it here :)

Restaurant was quiet for a Friday night but the bar was very busy, seemed quite surreal whilst walking back to get a drink, the change in atmosphere. There was a wedding dj on, it was a Friday so avoid if on a 1st date like I was! But food was delicious.

We were served by Tom (dressed as Chucky) and have to say his customer service was excellent, drinks served with a please and thank you, when we ordered our food came out quickly. Unfortunately a couple of things were missing but Tom sorted it with no questions and no fuss. The meal was very filling and tasted amazing. We were very pleased with our meal and would visit again. Arrived at 17:21 on 26/4/18 Was greeted and served by Arun,felt very welcome and he was extremely helpful asking if I would like to open a tab as I Was ordering drinks then food. I took his advice and did that. We ordered a child's meal(under 5yrs) which as we also ordered main meals only cost £1 bargain! We had the messy Mexican chicken burger..Arrived hot and was more than ample! Brilliant value. I also used vouchers which didn't work together but the lovely lady behind the bar promptly and without fuss sorted out for me which I appreciated. Lovely warm welcome,friendly people would deffinatly visit again. Great value for money too! Thankyou!

Came for breakfast today. Walked into a nice looking restaurant. Was met by a lovely lady sharon who welcomed us. Ordered our breakfast sat down only had to wait 10 minutes before it was ready. The food was ok nice and warm bacon had a little wired taste but think that was due to it being cooked on grill. The toast was like it had dried out on side for hours before making it into toast was little hard crispy toast. But after covering it in beans to soften it was ok. On the menu it said unlimited toast but we only was offered 2 slices. So clearly not unlimited as stated. Fault advertising there. The place had a lovely decor shame about the tables was abit sticky. Because there was a few minor issues I giving 3* .
