Never disappointed at The Kitchen! Friendly staff, cosy atmosphere and the live music adds something different to a usual cafe visit! Had my first pizza this time I visited and it was beautiful!

Had a great experience this Sunday morning at the kitchen saddler gate Derby. Full 5 stars all round. Service was great, food and drink was great and the atmosphere too, they have live music and encourage musicians to perform there. Thank you very much.

First time we’ve visited this cafe and were very impressed. The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is really chilled. Had the breakfast which was excellent and perfectly cooked. There was a wonderful guy playing guitar and singing which was great where else can you go for breakfast and get that? Thanks guys will be returning.

We went here with a Groupon deal for four people which cost £26 plus for a pizza and drink each. We were met by the staff and seated. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. We also spoke to the owner who told us about the history I little of the Kitchen and that he has been there for four years and looking to expand up to the first floor. The pizzas are made in a traditional pizza oven and tasted great. The beers are all bottled so no draught. The only criticism I would have is the sauces they use were cheap brands. Which I don't mind but they were dirty and could do with a clean or being replaced. But a great venue and would go again and felt relaxed here. So thank you to all the staff for a great evening. I just love this place. Mine must go every week, even if it is just for the coffee and digestive. My favourites from food are definitely pizza, that is must try. Very light, definitely unique and extremely tasty in the same time. Cevapi that is traditional balkanian style meat meal. Ask for the info when you go, and try them with ajvar, a balkanian dip made from peppers and aubergines. Another thing to try are home made deserts. Drink wise, my winner is strawberry daiquiri. Best cocktail in Derby ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The management and staff are professional but in the same time extremely friendly. Often there is live music that gives that extra atmosphere to make all together even more special. Definitely recommend.

I dropped in to have a coffee, but on entering, smelling the food and having a sense of calm about the place, I decided to get a menu and have some breakfast. The menu is small but concise and doesn't attempt to be an "everything to everyone" type of eatery. I had the veggie breakfast and it was delicious. Hash browns were fluffy yet crisp on the outside and the whole meal went down nicely. Table service was good although I wasn't too sure whether you pay at the table or at the counter. Food is cooked from fresh and you can tell when it comes out. My only slight negative was I didn't like the butter/spread used on the toast but this is a very minor point. Would definitely visit again and would recommend to all to have a visit. Breakfast and coffee for under a tenner.

Called in late in the afternoon just before they were closing. They said the main kitchen was closed but offered to do us Pizza's, adding that they were the best in Derby, and they were! Three really delicious pizzas later we left very happy. The staff were really lovely too. Very friendly and welcoming.

We came here just before Christmas. Such a relaxing atmosphere for us and the kids. Lots of food and drink to choose from. Everything was delicious and the music is great. Returned again today as per the kids request and exactly the same. Love coming here to chill, eat and singalong!

Had the most gorgeous dinner here last Saturday. The staff were so lovely - huge thanks to Lucy, Chris, Lana and Lisa! I love the Kitchen and it's my regular 'go to' place, if i'm hungry and have the time to go. The menu has a variety of healthy options, naughty treats and veggie options. Everyone in their makes you feel welcome and never makes you feel like you are too much trouble. We had checkbacks done on the food, which was good, as some places forget to do this or either they don't bother to do one at all.

Amazing Milkshakes, very good size with milk and ice cream rather than a ready made one you can find in some cafes. Girlfriend had the hazelnut latte and says she could really taste the coffee and hazelnut, very creamy and perfect for a winter's day. Would recommend.

We celebrated a family birthday at the kitchen yesterday evening and it was fabulous. We were a party of 45 and all of our meals were perfectly cooked, the whole place was decorated beautifully and the service great. Would definitely recommend.

Great place for breakfast/brunch serving good quality ingredients, in a nice atmosphere- can’t ask for much more! The eggs Benedict was excellent, and my friend tried the eggs on a flatbread, which was a bit different. My only comment was the menu was bit overly complicated with what you are allowed to add to breakfasts, and lots of different prices which made it a bit difficult to decipher!

Nice place on the whole. I found the avacado bagel from the breakfast menu to be very pleasant, the (optional) bacon served with this was crisp and salty, spot of for me as a detest bacon that's flabby and greasy. I have had a goats cheese pannini and various cakes from here in the past, these were all very tasty too. The cafe is table service, but its not super clear to me whether the expectation is to pay at the till or to wait for the bill to be brought over. Its not a big deal either way though. To be fair it was getting busy just as I was finishing up. Most importantly, the food is tasty and good quality. The menu seems to focus on flavour and quality, they pick a few things here and aim to do them well rather than try to please everyone with a million options. Wide variety of drinks, most of which are the "top end" versions of what they are (e.g. artisan fruit juice, not 25p a litre super market stuff). Prices are good value, its a touch more than your "branded" high street cafes and chains, but its far higher quality food and a pleasant atmosphere. I had a pot of tea, (delicious!) apple juice and a filling breakfast for about £12. To me that's affordable and I will happily return to eat here, particularly for weekend breakfast.

I have been there today with my partner for lunch. Very nice, cozy place with great food selection for a quick bite or a light lunch. The soups of the day one with spicy sweet potatoes and the other with mushroms were excellent as well as the burger. The pizza was good, not too big and made of a thin crust which makes it even lighter if you are looking for a light lunch and dont want to over eat. Most of all i liked the atmosphere: this is a small, family ran friendly place full of soul and character. You will feel it in the nice choice of furniture and pottery as well as the smiling faces of the owners who would come and chat with you at the table. Lastly, very clean place. I saw the waitresses properly cleaning and disinfecting the tables each time a customer left. Not a minor thing comparing to the majority of the places i have seen in UK. Highly recommended!!

Excellent. Very friendly and cheerful staff deliver brilliant food and drinks in what I would describe as the "quintessential cafe atmosphere" at affordable prices. My only issue is that once I've finished I want more of the same, but that's probably down to my own greediness rather than any lack on The Kitchen's part. Also, ask for some of The Kitchen's tomato chutney, it's truly excellent.

There are three places in the centre Derby where we regularly go for coffee because of the great homemade cakes. This is one of them. Good atmosphere for a chat on one of Derby's most picturesque and "buzzy" (yes, Derby!) streets in the city centre. Lovely staff. Inside or out and if it's too busy there's another good spot just across the road.
