Nice and quiet place to eat even with a busy town centre. Clearly short of service staff but they're coping well. Food was meh at best. Cleanliness doesn't seem to be very high on the priority list and the floor was very sticky.

Our booking for 13 people at a restaurant was cancelled due to staffing issues with only 2 days notice, too late to book anywhere else. Some of the 13 were staying at the Premier Inn and the staff were incredibly accommodating for all 13 slightly(?!) drunk people. We were all in good spirits and Nikola in particular dealt with us very professionally. The service was efficient and the meals hit the spot. Those of the group that had breakfast the next day were equally satisfied with the spread on offer. We will definitely revisit the restaurant.

Friendliest staff I've ever encountered, non stop smiles and nothing is too much to ask. Full English breakfast was unlimited with continental options too. Car park right next to it which is convenient, just what I was looking for after a flight into DSA.

Massive thank you to the whole team that was working Thursday evening, ensuring my mums 75th Birthday meal was fantastic, the whole team made us feel welcome, due to the size of our party we were accomadated in a rear room great for privacy. Would highly recommend to anyone for a private function.

Services was good wrong meal was brought out fir my son so he had to wait for his food when it came because it was rushed the chicken was very greasy. I had the roast beef dinner could of done with veg being warmer as was only just warm. The beef was very tough I couldn't eat it all because of this. I would have told someone but it seemed like all staff had dissapereared once we were served. I know it was mother's day but to be honest it wasn't busy

I’ve stayed in the premier in for 4 night and used the Barley Twist for my breakfast and dinner every day during my stay. The team are fantastic! They all work so hard, they’re extremely polite and friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them! After my first evening I explained I needed gluten free, I never needed to let them know again, as soon as they saw me the allergen booklet was already in their hand, they always double checked what I’d ordered to make sure it was safe for me. If I needed to remove something to make it safe they offered something else in place of it. The food was delicious and was served in a timely manner. They are all very covid aware, the tables are set with cutlery however they remove it when you order and replace it with clean safe cutlery every time. The whole team have made my visit very pleasurable. Thank you!

Unfortunately the staff let this luncheon down, poor service .. I cannot express how important customer service is especially when you are offering food/services at this level in this market as there are so many companies at this price point that you can't afford to be blasé comments such as 'you get the drink in the glass it's served in' is just uncalled for Rude, and a general can't be bothered or don't care attitude! Hospitality look it up guys cos you failed on this day 😳🤣

Good restaurant to have your meal after a long day at work but very limited options for veggies which doesn't surprise me now in UK. The bar is awesome where you can sit relax have few drinks at peace, not to forget the bar staff is amazingly customer centric taking hospitality to newer heights.

Sampled the Christmas dinner. Yorkshire pudding was fine (although should never grace a Christmas dinner imo), turkey was fine, the pig in blanket was only half 'blanketed', gravy was fine, sprouts were fine, pease were fine, carrots were fine, stuffing tasted ok but was a pasty green colour??, roast potatoes looked lovely but the large one was still under done in the centre 🙄, roasted parsnips again looked lovely but the large ones were still raw in the middle😱. I also ordered a cauliflower cheese as a side. The sauce was a bit synthetic with a heavy flavour of bay and not very cheesy. The cauliflower was a bit on the firm side and why some manufacturers make their 'cauli cheese' with the tasteless mozzarella "cheese" heavens knows. 😱. No staff members visited our table to see how our food was.🙄. Average at best.

This was our first time out after a long period of isolation, we felt very safe and the staff were absolutely wonderful, very attentive without being pushy they couldn't have done enough for us and made us feel welcome. Food was good, limited by choice but what we had was sufficient. Thank you we will come again.

We came here after being refused from another restaurant due to having two pushchairs with babies, they managed to find our party two tables of 4 near each other (sticking to the Covid rules). Upon arrival nothing was too much bother for Sophie, her customer service was fantastic and we could not fault her. We was also served by another waitress but I did not get her name (I believe she may have been new and still training) again, fantastic! Both young ladies are a credit to your business and we will most definitely be coming back to eat with you again!

Very nice restaurant central to town centre. 3 of us had the small gammon & chips, the gammon was delicious but the chips could have been hotter, they were a little soggy for us. 1 had a dessert which was a huge portion. Pleasant & efficient staff.

What wonderful service at barley twist. I have also posted a review on trip advisor because it was that good! Me and my husband was served by a very polite waitress Caitlin who welcomed us and delivered great service. The Sunday lunch was great and I will definitely recommend it to family and friends! We come here quite often for breskfast...which we like very much. However this visit with a recommendation to friends, was a little disappointing. Plenty of breakfast on offer but could have done with being a lot hotter. Staff very helpful and said they would re-visit the issue...

Nice place to stop. Good food, pretty extensive menu and loads of meal deals. Uber friendly staff who are only too happy to help. Couple of drawbacks: tables are sometimes left uncleared for a period of time resulting in you having to either empty it yourself or moving to another table and sometimes an unnecessary wait at the bar even though the place is empty. (Lack of visible staff). Busy nights when the race meetings are being held at Doncaster Racecourse. All in all, a relaxing place with good food. Worth a visit.
