Reviews of Christies Scottish Tapas
M. G.
We went for a birthday dinner, 4 adults and a kid, with a bottle of wine, water, some more drinks, a burger for our son and 12 tapas we pay like £20 per person, what I strongly believe its amazing for the quality of the food and the service. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. We are very happy we celebrate the birthday at Christies 👌
As I said we had 3 tapas each and some chips, all the tapas looked AMAZING! Vegan and vegetarian tapas were great, Gnocchi and Spinach tapa was too cheesy for me but was good, truffle mushroom tapa was the best mushroom dish I ever had and the aubergine rolls was seriously good.
Our son's burger was handmade and his opinion was "this is the best burger ever" 😂
I will definitely be back!

Came in for breakfast recently. It's a lovely looking restaurant. Really clean and modern. Both staff members who served us couldn't have been nicer. Really friendly, helpful and polite. One of us had the full Scottish breakfast and it was good. Sadly, the vegan full Scottish breakfast wasn't great. There were items missing and other items there which weren't meant to be. The mushroom and 'bacon' were really overdone. The staff did try to sort it out but it was just a bit tasteless and dry. They did offer us free drinks, which we didn't take, but the gesture was appreciated.

This is an AMAZING place! Such great food, a beautifully decorated interior and great service. Not bad for price on most things too! Definitely coming back!

We popped in here after watching Top Gun (absolutely brilliant film a must see), at the Odeon, in the off chance we could get a table, we tried before on other occasions but it was too busy ( we recommend you book prior to going to guarantee a table). On this occasion we were successful and got a table, one of the 2 person tables in front of you as you go in. Our order was taken, the server did ask if we were familiar with the tapas way of eating, we were, but for those that aren't, each dish on the menu is a separate dish, so you can order different dishes and your partner can order other dishes which are then brought out to the table. Its up to you how many you want but we find 3 each is a nice number, this leaves room for pudding but if you are a large eater maybe 4 or 5 each would be better. There are other larger portion dishes such as burgers etc if you don't want tapas. The food that came out to the table was delicious and well made our only niggle was we thought the food could of been warmer as it went cold quite quickly at the table. The house chips were delicious and roasting hot ( the best house chips we have had at a restaurant). The tapas on the menu all had a Scottish twist which we thought was great and some of the names gave us a good laugh. Our table was a good size for 2 people and our 7 dishes fitted with enough room left to eat. Three of the dishes were on a rack which saved space on the table but some people might struggle to get the food off if you have hand movement problems. Our seat did get a draught when the door opened so if you like it warm ask for a table away from the door. The servers were polite, prompt and well presented. A great place to dine, give it a try, we will definitely go back.

Decent sized portions, three is enough to start with. Staff very friendly and attentive. Dessert was split between us, sticky toffee, was very nice. Different, can recommend visiting.

Has potential but...
Great concept, smart premises, 'funky' music & plenty of staff, though perhaps not always that efficient. We sat near the kitchen and saw our food site on the counter, for what seemed like 5 minutes, until one of the staff decided to bring it to our table! Well organised menu, attractively served plates, efficiently organised on a space efficient 3 tier stand - good so far. Quality of the food however varied. Some of the meat dishes were overcooked (pre cooked too far in advance I suspect) and rather dry, though lamb kababs were good, lots of potato in the fish cakes(!), generally no standout flavours and not particularly warm/hot (did not benefit from sitting on the serving counter!)
I would give it a bit of a break before came back.

Another family favourite with absolutely delicious food. Great, friendly service. Beautiful decor. We love the concept of the Scottish Tapas and let's the kids try loads of different things they wouldn't normally go for. We got my 5 year old the kids menu option but she ended up tucking into little bits from the rest of our dishes. The Mac and cheese goes really well with the red cabbage! Who knew?!

First time here, phoned and booked a table for 8 people last minute and they were quite accomodating. So I would say the layout and decor of the restaurant is nice and it's very clean which is always reassuring. The staff were ok, apart from one who, probably unintentionally, failed to see my attempt in getting her attention. Was still slightly frustrating but not a huge deal. The other staff were quite attentive and regularly checked to see if everything was ok with the food. The food was very nicely presented, we opted for tapas for the meal instead of the larger portions of other dishes available, nice to have options. Most of the food was tasty, I felt the lamb in the "Lamb Croquettes" and also the "Meatbaws" were quite bland, had to add more seasoning to enjoy it unfortunately. The sauces they came with were nice though. I also do like the choice of name for the meatballs 👏 The "Orkney Mac N Cheese Bites" were my favourite, the caramelised onions and rocket went really nice together. With regards to dessert, I had the "Crème Brulé", it was beautifully presented and tasty. I was slightly annoyed however at something, my son's ice cream was £1.50 and my daughter's "Selection of Arran Ice Cream" was £5.50, both which looked identical in both size and presentation, the only difference was my daughters which had one scoop of strawberry flavour and two vanilla. So I paid an extra £4 for a strawberry flavour replacement of the vanilla. Overall I think I will be back again as I did enjoy most of the food and the whole dining experience was mostly good. 👌
Friendly Suggestion: I would love to see the kitchen incorporate Stornoway Black Pudding into the menu, think it would go down a storm. Especially being a heavily Scottish themed restaurant.

A brilliant use of a Spanish concept for Scottish food. The restaurant is lovely inside and the staff were phenomenal, very welcoming, attentive and friendly. The food was brilliant and I even enjoyed some things I thought I wouldn't.
If I had to pick a fault we ordered 9 plates which all came at once, while this was entirely our choice and our fault but it might be worth asking if the customer wants them all at once or staggered. We ended up with a packed table and some of the food was cold by the time we got to it.
Will absolutely be back!

First visit with three friends.
Lovely restaurant and good choices. However, three of us ordered the smoked haddock bites, and there wasn’t a hint of smoked haddock or seasoning in them. More like potato cake in breadcrumbs unfortunately. We did point this out when meal was finished. The rest of the dishes we had were really good and wine and cocktails lovely. Price of the bites taken off the bill after querying the bill why they were still on which was appreciated.

Best breakfast in Dunfermline here without a doubt. Absolutely spot on. These guys are professionals. Restaurant spotless. Food to die for. Had a lunch & a breakfast so far. This is a new go to for us. Thank you 😊
R. J.
Came here for my partners birthday today first time and was really lovely. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful! We were served by Lee Christie who was so nice and attentive and chatty. Food was amazing, quick service and piping hot. Will definitely be back!
G. R.
The food was good, only let down by the rather dry and chewy pork belly. The staff were great….polite, attentive and helpful. The big let down was the bizarre decor. The feature panel wall, bar area, tables etc were all fine but the dazzling bright lighting, cheap looking artwork and complete overkill of tacky dried flower displays give it the air of a communal room in a care home. Wouldn’t be back for an evening visit without dark glasses.
D. B.
Having seen great reviews I was excited to try it. My youngest got a kids burger. It was good. The Mac and cheese was so overcooked that the pasta had lost it's structure. The venison meatballs were very dry and solid and the gravy was really gloopy. The prawn and chorizo was nice as was the fish and chips. The posh ham sandwich was okay. Service was friendly but not attentive. Bit hit and miss. It's better than the rest of the places in the park.
F. C.
Fantastic and inventive menu, incredible selection and brilliant service, was made to feel welcome by everyone this evening. Cannot recommend enough especially Flynn who served us.
W. M.
Wasn't really sure what Scottish tapas was before today, but oh my what fantastic food! Fast and attentive service made this a great choice for lunch. I can't wait to go back and try their regular menu.
g. h.
Great lunch with friends, good food and attentive staff, very reasonable costs
C. P.
Visited today as a group of five, so we ended up trying a fair bit of the menu, and loved every single tapa. Worked out at £20 each for the equivalent of three tapas and a drink each, which we thought was really reasonable for the quality of the food. We’ll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

It was my mums birthday and as a celebration we went to Christie's for some lunch! We entered and the server asks you if you booked(yes, no, ect, you know the drill). We got given a six person table as my sister, and my mums parents were coming too. The servers are very polite. We were getting a tapas and ordered 1 or 2 things per person because there were lots of us. They recommend up to 3 per person. Our food was delicious! The hoose Chips were especially good! The only problem we had was that we ordered our food and the first plates arrived forty minutes later. A little disappointing however I understand this could be for many reasons.(understaffed, big order ect.) Either way, main meal was AMAZING☺️ We them moved onto desert which was also brilliant but again, slow service, but considering we had no other plans, it didn't really matter too much. Other than those couple of small things, the restaurant is amazing and I'd recommend it! The aesthetic of the restaurant is very nice too!
D. D.
I have been to Christie's three times. Twice for breakfast & once for lunch. The breakfast food was tasty enough, but it was over priced. There are so many other places you can visit nearby (Dobbie's, Sterling's & Yellow wall cafe - naming a few) that provide equal taste but not as expensive. It felt particularly distasteful that they charged £3 per soft drink. The lunch was just ok. Although they had a deal on (3x dishes for £12) it just was disappointing. The food was not great. On the positive the staff were lovely and didn't need to queue. If you are going then i suggest you go for breakfast as that menu is less disappointing than the main.
G. W.
Impromptu lunch which was thoroughly enjoyable. Only went to check the menu outside to see if they did gluten free options.
Beautiful decor, lovely tapas (we shared 4 between 2 of us) and lovely friendly staff. We will be back.
I. P.
My wife and I enjoyed a lovely meal last Sunday in the restaurant. The staff were very attentive, without being overbearing, and add to the experience.
The food, 4 tapas and a main course were very good, but my favourite was the cranachan....... absolutely delightful 👍
i.
The food is fantastic - quality and presentation that you would expect from a restaurant charging twice the price. Friendly staff too. Our only gripe from our one visit is that it's a big echoey barn of a place, and between the noise of other diners, the music, the kitchen and the bar, it was hard to hear each other or the waiters. A little bit of thought put into soundproofing, and it would be perfect.
E. P.
Visited for a family birthday of 14 people. Staff were amazing right from the start and so welcoming. The food was incredible, particularly recommend the salmon duo and the duck. We'll be back!
C. M.
Have been in for breakfast twice and dinner once. I was slightly disappointed with the dinner (especially the irnbru wings and very little meat and overcooked)
However the breakfast is something else , proper quality meat , fresh and hot . The full Scottish is very good value for what you get. The pancakes and bacon with maple are also very tasty and filling.
Only little niggle is that the staff can be quite disengaged and unattentive
W. B.
We had a late dinner on Friday evening.
We ordered 6 tapas dishes and a side portion of truffle and parmesan fries.
The fries had to be sent back twice and we ended up having removed from the bill. They were very overcooked yet somehow also soggy. We also suspected the second bowl may have just been the first one shaken up a bit. The waitress who brought us the chips was not impressed when we declined the second bowl and made this very clear.
As for the main tapas dishes, they were all smaller than I’ve had at other tapas restaurants. The standard of the dishes varied.
The haggis bon bons and the Orkney cheddar macaroni bites were both excellent and can’t be faulted. The only thing was the macaroni bites just came with some red onions that had (I think) been pickled in red wine vinegar, as opposed to the stated red onion jam.
The beef stew was good but the dough ball was incredibly dry and I suspect had been sitting all evening.
The bruschetta topping was nice but the crostini was overdone and very hard.
The haddock bites were strong flavoured but there wasn’t enough of the pomegranate.
The four cheese croquettes were excellent and so was the spicy mayo that accompanied them.
Drinks wise we only had tap water because of a complete absence of Scottish soft drinks other than Irn Bru. No Bon Accord. No Alba Cola. No Rapscallion. No Walter Gregor mixers.
I was underwhelmed by the food overall. It’s bizarre to have a “Scottish” tapas place to have so many non-Scottish dishes on the menu. Yes, the produce will be Scottish, but the dishes overall weren’t. No Stornaway black pudding, only evidence of a few Scottish cheeses, no vegetarian haggis, no stovies, no lorne, no Arbroath smokies, no venison, no shortbread, no tablet, no Scottish soft drinks. Lots of quite standard tapas dishes without even a Scottish twist.
And not even a pan drop with the bill, a Fox’s Glacier Mint! I mean, come on.
The restaurant itself was very loud and echoing. Some softer furnishings would help and again, a more Scottish twist in the decor and better coordination of the colours used would be nice.
Overall I was disappointed. I can’t really see me returning despite our main waitress being really lovely and the dishes that were good being great. The whole experience was just lacking. I’d need to see a much more Scottish menu to be tempted back. As my friend who was with me put it, “it’s like a non-Scottish person has tried to do a Scottish menu”

Was a family meal for 5 of us. 1st visit to Christies. Staff on arrival were polite and very friendly. We were seated and our server Katie Mon was excellent with us. The food was delicious, we decided for the 5 of us to book in for breakfast tomorrow. Unfortunately they are privately booked out by a company for breakfast tomorrow. Will defo be visiting again and can only hope we get Katie Mon again to serve us. This young lady really needs recognition by the mamager and company of how lovely she really was. Thanks Katie xx

Had a lovely family meal for my dads birthday at Christie’s! Was out first time visiting and had lovely service and great food, was a nice atmosphere and staff were all great especially our waitress Katie!! Will definitely be back!

Arrived and seated quickly with our drinks order taken right away.
I opted for the full scottish breakfast.
My parnter opted for the steak on toast.
We shared the fruit compote and chantilly cream pancakes.
Our food was brought out to us in a timely manner however the smashed avocado was missing from my partners plate. When it was delivered it didnt add much anyway as like the rest of their meal it felt massively underseasoned. The steak was cooked well but lacked any depth of flavour due to underseasoning. the same could be said for the accompanying onions and mushrooms
The cooked breakfast was pleasant enough, as were the pancakes. The staff were very welcoming and the restaurant was nice.
C. N.
Visit here regularly for breakfast. Staff happy to accommodate special requests for extras or swaps.
Lovely decor, clean, nice staff and great food always presented well. Good GF, vegan and veggie options too.
H. F.
Just had a wee visit to Christies and we were treated so well we just wanted to thank you for your hospitality.
Our family live in Dunfermline and we were visiting but on this busy Friday night , we hadn't booked, and were awaiting a call from a family member who was arriving on a train from Liverpool. While in the queue we got the message to say she would be arriving in just over an hour. We thought we would have to miss the Christies experience. Table bookings were very full.
Thankfully your team and in particular Flynn who managed to set up a table that was just becoming available and assured us that food service would be fine.
We couldnt fault it, it was brilliant. All colleagues saw to us straight away. The food was flippin lovely, excellent haggis, neeps, cullen skink , belly pork, haggis balls and irn bru chicken wings....something we will never get in Liverpool. Thank you so much to your wonderful friendly team who were outstanding. Thanks
P. H.
Absolutely loved it. Son took me there and it was very tasty scottish food. We had the small sharing plates, but they also do ordinary meals.
R. R.
Beautiful food, with top-level presentation and superb service.
C. B.
Really lovely food and great service. This was my second visit and it was great. We had the Camembert, haggis bon bons, scallops, croquettes and it was all great. The chips are also amazing.
E. E.
Love this Restaurant, without doubt the best place to eat in Dunfermline. Food is excellent. Must try, Haggis Bon Bons, Irn Bru Chicken wings, Meat Baws, Duck rolls, Lamb Croquette. Staff always friendy. Next visit very soon.
c. g.
Amazing food and the nicest staff too. they were so pleasant and couldn’t do enough for us, it was so refreshing to see. Will be back here often.
M. A.
The staff were lovely.
The manager on the other hand, was helping put garnish onto the plates with no gloves on, I watched him rub his nose and bite his nail while doing this.
c. k.
Good quality food although we booked based on the menu that was advertised at the time but when we arrived they had changed to the Christmas menu which was not as good. The quality of the deserts was not great as they tasted like they had been bought in and not made fresh on site but overall it was good food
M. L. G.
Really enjoyed this for a change from the likes of nandos and pizza hut, the food was lovely the braised beef, the haggis Bon bons, fish and chips all amazing 👌if you go Mon - Thurs you get 3 dishes for £12 and most dishes really filling,.would definitely recommend 😋.
K. U.
We stopped in here on our way to Edinburgh airport from Aberdeen for some Tapas on New years day
Service was excellent as was the food
Recommend this any time .
G. T.
Was in for meals last night the food was nice however cause your sat near the door it doesn't stay warm very long ( so wee tip for any1 get a table away from the door) then a big Xmas table come in the servers come cleared our table asked if we wanted desert I said yes 30 mins later im still waiting for the menus ( and ended up going to McDonald's for a mcflurry ) because they were dealing with the big table we eventually had to go chasing somebody to get the bill £62 8 tapas things 1 cocktail 2 lager shandy would I go back mmmm possibly however I wouldn't rush
L. D.
Just been to Christie’s for the first time for our wedding anniversary and it was brilliant. The staff were all lovely and super friendly. The food was absolutely amazing. Everything was totally delicious especially the sticky toffee pudding. We will definitely be back. Thank you Christie’s ❤️❤️
J. S.
We were there Thursday evening. Good service, nice concept and a clean restaurant. Most of the food was good and some, especially the seafood was over cooked.
It won’t stop us from trying the restaurant again to try other things on the menu, just for the experience.
I. W. (. i. h. i. i.
First of all the food was braw and good quality, the restaurant set out well and relaxed and staff where all professional and attended to your needs
The only thing that did let it down in my opinion is there wasn't enough Scottish produce being used in both the drinks list and main menu. There is on Innes & Gunn lager and IPA draught. when there is plenty of other good Scottish brewerys out there.
K. J.
Love this place. Have visited in a number of times. First time I had to wait for food though. Maybe because it was a Sunday afternoon. Well worth a visit. Make sure you book
E. S.
What an absolute delight this place is. Food is fab and our waiter was really user friendly. I will definitely be back for seconds!
E. M.
Wonderful food. Everyone in our party enjoyed the flavour and concept behind Christies. It is a real asset to Dunfermline.
S. M.
A nice wee change from the usual chains in the area. A nice selection of fairly priced food. Friendly staff and nice vibe to the place
C. G.
Great food but the front of house look miserable and act very unprofessional, always talking to eachother at the bar rather than running food or checking on people
J. P.
Amazing night .
Food fantastic, service top class, what more can I say.
Looking for a different meal experience then here is the place to go.
Thank you so much Christies, we will return for a repeat experience. Xx
