A really lovely Restaurant right on the River. Very reasonable pricing with very tasty food. A personal welcome and respectful handshake from the owner/Manager. The Chefs cooking is the finest quality - fine dining standards - the last time I ate something this good was in Paris. A lovely outdoor seating area and a trendy fun interior with lights and also good music (the speakers are just right have that bass feel you would get in a Jazz Bar). Such a good evening. Highly recommend. 5 stars. A special mention to Sebana, Jane and George. All excellent. A quick helpful note: your website is currently down.

Great food at a reasonable price. Nice location. They had run out of several items, so I had fish & French fries because they'd run out of thick cut chips. My wife ordered a kebab which is served hanging from a hook. Not very practical for eating, but it's a very memorable way of serving it!

Great location and nice outside seating area overlooking the river in the middle of Durham centre. The burger I tried was very nice. The fries were crispy and tasty. Staff were attentive and welcoming with a smile on their faces which is nice to see :) Would definitely recommend 👍

We had some lovely drinks and food here, served by friendly staff and we are look forward to the Latin nights here on Tuesdays with salsa & bachata dancing and lessons it is fab!

What a great find this place was, situated by the bridge. There's lots of delicious food to try, and I went for the hanging kebabs. They're soft juicy and delicious. Being Greek I know a thing or two about kebabs and these are good kebabs. There's also a huge cocktail menu that was very tempting, but I decided on a beer. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. I definitely recommend this place and the kebabs.

Wonderfully unique restaurant. Hanging kebabs and the best burger in Durham hands down. I recommend ‘The Matador’. The guy behind the bar was also very attentive (and handsome!).

We had a wonderful time at 1920, I could not recommend this place more. It is perfect for a lovely evening filled with atmosphere and impeccable customer service. Within minutes of arriving we felt welcomed and the staff made a special effort to ensure we were attended to. 1920 is the place to go be it for dinner, drinks or special occasion. Came across this place while in Durham for a long weekend. Went in for a couple of cocktails on a Friday night and back in for dinner the following Sunday. Main reason for coming back was the lovely staff, in particular one young lady who was really welcoming - I think she might have been the manager!? Fantastic service on both occasions and highly recommend the Chicken Kababs, yummy!

What an amazing place, the food was fantastic. I could have ate my steak again as it taste amazing, chips were cooked just right with the skin lightly cook and inside fluffy and soft. 🌟 £10 steak — great value (but steak only, no fries or salad included). Other choices of steak are available but much more expensive. Also serves burgers, etc. 🌟 Food was delicious. Lovely desserts, recommend tiramisu. 🌟 A nice restaurant in Durham town center. Given the number of restaurants there is limited, this would be a top choice for decent lunch or dinner. 🌟 Great location — just near the old bridge & beautiful river view. Seats outside available. Service needs improvement. One server splashed a full glass of water on my friend. Very unpleasant moment. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Exceeded all expectations. Good quality furniture (including huge parasol to protect from sudden showers), professional yet friendly service for whom nothing was a trouble and superb food and drinks - refreshing lager and smooth, rich red wine. Meanwhile, the hanging kebabs were stunning - huge, tender chunks of meat, perfect halloumi and gorgeous paprika crispy fries. Can't fault it and can't wait to be back. So glad you survived lockdown!
