Reviews of Bubba Q
C. C.
We weren’t here for my birthday and it was very good. The restaurant itself is quite hidden and it has a great atmosphere inside. It also has quite a unique atmosphere. The service was pretty on point and staff were friendly. The menu is lengthy and so it was quite a struggle to decide on what to get. Thankfully, the waitress was quite helpful and in the end we opted for the sharing bbq platter (can’t remember the exact name). We were slightly worried that we wouldn’t be able to manage it all but it is certainly manageable for 2 hungry adults. We also got a couple of milkshakes, Cajun fries and tater tots. Firstly, the sharing platter was overall really nice. In particular, the pulled pork and ribs were delicious. The meet feel off the bone effortlessly and was very succulent. The chicken wings and beef brisket were also tasty. The sausages on the hand were very disappointing. Very dry and not very flavourful. This was surprising as all the other meat was nice. The chips were were basic and not my favourite. The cajun seasoning made them better. The tater tots pretty nice. Our milkshakes were pretty good but nothing special. We also liked that we got a selection of sauces at the table. We felt our meal was reasonably priced for what we got. Overall we enjoyed our visit and left feeling satisfied.

Popped to Edinburgh with a couple friends to grab lunch with their dogs. They were really friendly and the food was great. I got their home made iced tea and that was lovely as well.

Decent food, and served very quickly. Good menu variety. Prices probably a little steep for some of the menu but others were very well priced. Had the chilli beef nachos which was nice but needed to be a bit fresher. Girlfriend had southern fried chicken burger which was amazing! Cajun fries were brilliant!
R. S.
Lovely atmosphere,.just felt if we were back in New York, very friendly staff food was excellent, and a lovely little touch, was the birthday cheesecake with a candle🍰 rounded the night of with a smile 10 out of 10. Plus it reasonably priced 👍

Wonderfull food and really well priced! They sell the sauces that are available on the table as well!! Very polite staff and short waiting times despite us being walkins!
R. I.
Food was delicious! We tried the two meat plate and the dirty donut burger, which were both great! I had a bramble cocktail which was lovely!
K.
The ribs were amazing and just melted in your mouth! However, the sides could have been better seasoned. Still absolutely loved it!
L. E.
Lovely tasty food
Overcharged on the bill but only by 1.50 or something so didn’t really bring it up with the waitress. Food good though , great location and nice setting
K. F.
Great BBQ food very filling. Hot chicken wings were lovely & Highlander burger was top quality.

Everything about this experience was good, unfortunately apart from the food. Wings excellent, but nacho chips not great, avocado in guacamole not ripe, chips anaemic with very measly amount of cheese and pork on top. Drinks grand, staff very good, food just pretty average.
F. B.
Wings and beef brisket were amazing. Ribs weren't the best I have had but still nice. Service was excellent.

I had mixed feelings about this place. Staff was friendly and helpful, we ordered the big plate of assorted meats for a change, we usually order burgers. The meat was dry, full of sauce on top to make it look appealing. The whole ribs and sauseges were inedibleand we had to order a replacement, which was properly exchanged by the staff. The other meats were still dry but staff mentioned they were supposed to be that way, including the brisket, which was smoked for hours apparently. The replacement ribs and sauseges were ok. The Cajun fries and the onion rings were flawless and their iced tea was also good, but not as good as our other visits. I would say they are inconsistent, given our previous great experiences. Staff offered a generous discount at this time, given all the problems we have encountered.

Wow, what a find! Delicious wings? Check! Full flavoured barbequed meats? Yes! Burgers served between two doughnuts instead of a bread bap? Absolutely! All their sauces are homemade and you can buy bottles of them to boot. I can thoroughly recommend the Kansas BBQ for those that love mild and sweet flavours.

As a party of 6 we ate at Bubba Q on Saturday 6th October. The restaurant is on the Royal Mile and in a tourist hot spot so I was somewhat apprehensive about eating here. That may have had something to do with a really disappointing BBQ experience in Bedford the previous week at FatCap as well as under par Taco's the previous evening at El Cartel. Well, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the restaurant was busy but not crowded and noisy. The BBQ platter was very good with good flavours, textures and presentation. Everyone at the table was happy with their food and we left full and impressed. I would say the drinks menu could be improved. There were only two draught beers, Bud and Corona so as we didn't want those we went for bottle which at £5 was expensive for a 330ml. Perhaps have a draught IPA or Pale Ale on as well to avoid customers having to pay for expensive bottles may be an idea. All that being said, I would recommend Bubba Q for BBQ food in Edinburgh.

The food here is amazing. I had the pit master tray and was beaten by the amount of food on offer. Small place but well worth a visit if you're into BBQ food.

As an American who came across the pond from Alabama about 6 months ago, I had reservations about American style BBQ in Scotland. However, my family of 4, with 2 kids aged 3 & 6, were a bit exhausted after the train ride up (no nap due to the excitement), so we wanted someplace "safe" to eat that the kids wouldn't fuss over. Bubba Q fit the bill.
First, the ambiance. They have managed to successfully recreate an American style BBQ joint. If it weren't for the accents, you would be forgiven for thinking you had teleported to one of the southern cities in the States.
As for the food, I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised. Although it wasn't the best BBQ I have sampled, I have had much worse back in the States.
One quibble I and my wife have is that Europeans, Brits, and apparently, Scots have this misconception that American portion sizes are HUGE. And that any American style restaurant must have huge portions. This proves especially problematic when it comes to kids meals. The portions on each of my kids plates was better suited to an adult than a kid. Cut the portions in half, and avoid wasting food. I can't comment on the size of the adult entrees however, since we ordered the Pit Master platter, which was intended to be shared.
That quibble aside, the food was competent, if not exceptional. I could tell that there were two items that were keeping their Q from getting to the next level: 1 - it needed smoke. Specifically, it seemed like it was cooked in an oven rather than in a smoker or a pit. This being said, I realize that those probably aren't practical in Old Town, Royal Mile Edinburgh.
2- This one is probably the most important. The meat, especially the ribs, were cooked at too high of a heat and thus too fast. This made the meat a bit tougher than it should be, and definitely kept it from being fall off the bone delectable goodness. Lower the temp and lengthen the cooking time for better results.
But, as I said, for being in Edinburgh, Scotland instead of back home in the US, it was a very pleasant surprise. As such, I will give Bubba Q an extra star above what it would rate in the states, and rate it 4 stars.
M. L.
We enjoyed a American style BBQ meal here. We found a root beer weve never seen before and it had maple syrup as an ingredient, yummy. The pulled pork and ribs were authentic and there were two BBQ sauces, one vinegar and one tomato based. There were American license plates around as decor and we enjoyed finding our favorite states. The kids menu hit the spot for our younger travellers and the desserts we yummy.
h. 1.
Closest you can get to american bbq (it still isnt what your expecting if your from america like I am) but very good to say the least a little pricy but big plates will fill you up.
T. G.
Very nice place. You are immersed in the atmosphere of old Edinburgh. The kitchen is up to standard and most importantly the staff here is extremely kind and responsive. Who loves the moon must come here. I hadn't eaten more delicious pork in years. And the staff are not just kind. They should be an example of most of the restaurants in this city. Thank you for being there.
E. M.
Bubba Q wis quality man a mean, the food was really something different especially the donut burger and the shake wis good. Only flaw is the location isn't the best, a banged ma head a few times (am only 6ft) and the straw wis too short fir the cup. All and all nae bad 4/5

I and my girlfriend recently visited Edinburgh and decided to try this place as one of her friends recommended. We had the bbq plater which contains brisket, wings, pork ribs and pulled pork. The wings and pork ribs were cold and not so fresh, the brisket was very bland and only the pulled pork was nice. The service was good but the food quality could be better.
G. R.
Paid Bubba Q a visit for lunch and had the pitmaster tray. Was decent enough but definitely not mind blowing. Brisket was quite dry, as were the ribs. The sausages were quite meaty but equally on the dry side. Pulled pork was nice. Garlic fries were amazing but you don’t get much. Mac and cheese also really good. I feel like the place as a lot of potential but certainly at double the cost of a burger, I’m not sure id have the bbq meat again (although I still think it’s good value). I’ll be back to try the burgers, I’m a fan of the what the restaurant is out to achieve.
m. m.
Absolutely amazing! Lovely food and friendly staff.
C. W.
Loved food and atmosphere best place to eat on the royal mile
G.
Best ribs in town! Ordered takeaway food and it arrived piping hot. Highly recommended.
K. S.
Gorgeous food. Very attentive to children and portions we're generous
H. v.
Staff were so helpful and attentive with my allergies and really good allergens menu.
The food was INCREDIBLE, I had the inferno wings and were honestly the best wings I’ve ever had — fell off the bone, super juicy, proper good portion size and good amount of sauce 😛
Will DEF be back here with others, especially now I know how good they are with allergens :))
D.
Great service, quick and friendly. Delicious food what more could you ask for.
G. C.
One of the best burgers ive ever had.. cooked to perfection, quick service. Cool interior. Really cant say a bad word about the place.. just walked in and seated straight away. AWESOME
P. B.
So so good. Haven't been before but thought we'd give it a try. Really glad we did. Good choice of beer , really good prices for kids options and we loved our food. Would defo recommend
H. W.
We really enjoyed our visit to Bubba Q, restaurant was clean with quirky decor, staff were efficient and friendly. Good menu which we look forward to trying more dishes from after seeing how nice other people's food looked too as it came out.
S. Y.
I loved this place, went back right away to introduce it to my family! Great atmosphere with nostalgic music, food to die for and well worth the price! I ordered the platter and was stuffed, couldn’t finish it! Would definitely be going back just so I can try the other stuff on their menu
M. S.
If you're into your meat, this is the place to go. Ironically I'm a vegan but was able to eat a decent meal made up of sides. The review though is for my sister who said this was the best burger she'd had.
You'll have to go down some pretty steep and narrow stairs to get to the dining area so definitely something to consider. But amazing location a stone's throw away from Waverley station so perfect for a meal before jumping on the train 😎.
B. J.
Great menu, so many choices you feel like dinning here every day to try them all 😁 I had one of the BBQ platters and it was amazingly tasty. Portions are really generous and don't think it's too pricey for the quality/quantity served

We've been in Edinburgh for a week now, and I'm kinda done with Scottish pie, mash and fish and chips. We walked by Bubba Q last night, and my husband decided that he wanted to try it for lunch today. I was skeptical and told him that I didn't think it was going to be what he was expecting. Boy was I wrong!! BEST food we've had in Edinburgh! We got the 2 meat plate that gave us the choice between maybe 4 or 5 meats, fries and a side. We got the brisket, pulled pork, fries and mac n cheese. It was all outstanding! Every bite was heavenly! For $19, we were both so full we couldn't even finish the fries, let alone try the rocky road brownie we were hoping to finish with. They offer 4 different BBQ sauces, a sweet house sauce, a slightly spicier one, a mustardy SC sauce, and vinegary NC sauce. Better than City BBQ in my opinion......I just wish we'd found it before our last day!

It is great food and quality attention and cocktail are very amazing I well definitely be back.
A.
Absolutely amazing place, wonderful friendly service and hardly any waiting time for the food. Incredible.
P. C.
The fact that I tried to book a table here and there was no availability for over a week was a clue this was going to be something special.
Managed to get a walk in table instead (they keep some walk in tables free) and we were not disappointed! Good selection of drinks and the food on offer was from another planet. So tasty and so delicious! Independent places like this are a cut above even the best of chains. It's a shame I'm not local otherwise I would visit all the time.
If you are looking for delicious food in Edinburgh, Bubba Q is the place to go.

Walked in after 9pm after being rejected from Byron Burger. What a rare find this was. As the store was closing at 9.30pm we thought we would not be served but was accomodated. The service was very efficient. Burgers and sides were very tasty and accompanied with a nice diversity of soft drinks or beer. We really enjoyed sharing two different types of burgers and the waffles at the end were lovely. We will be back!
N. J.
Amazing food, drinks and decor. Service v friendly. Highly reccomend the chicken on waffles If you love a combo of sweet and salt food!
I. S.
Very good ‘dirty’ food in a brilliant atmosphere.
A great food and drinks menu with a lot of great food to offer. We had lots of beers, milk shakes, burgers and chicken wings and all were great!
The staff are also very friendly!
C. W.
Bubba Q is going for that family run American BBQ feel but instead it comes off as a passable TGI Fridays. The food was good, not mind-blowing, but tasty. There was a brilliant beer selection. What really let it down was the dozen flies buzzing incessantly next to our table and the aloof service. I wouldn't return.
S. C.
Brilliant meal, my husband and son had a sharing platter and I had chicken nachos bbq wings. All delicious. Good prices and friendly service. We will go again.
A. D.
Was a good atmosphere and experience but the overall food was avarage, I had a burger and the meat was dry and not really seasoned and I got the bacon and cheese fries and I expected to get loads as it was like £4-£5 for them but never got that many and they weren't worth it. It was alright but not worth the money and wouldn't go again.
K. F.
Excellent food, service and price, definitely worth a visit
G.
This was a Gem if a find... you have got to go here if you enjoy and amazing BBQ menu and love meat. I can’t say anymore than AMAZING I will go back every time I go to Edinburgh. The staff were great and good price as a bonus... big thumbs up. Loved it !!!
M. l.
Food was amazing. Staff were extremely friendly and service was very quick will definitely be back the next time we are visiting Edinburgh
M. G.
Stumbled upon Bubba Q whilst searching for an Edinburgh hamburgers place. Wow! First thing that hits you when you enter is the aroma of ribs and bbq - awesome. The place is pretty small and was very busy so booking is strongly suggested. 6 of us ate there : every one of us ate too much - it was so good. Didn't really notice the staff, but there were no problems with our order so they were obviously doing a great job. Had to take a picture of one of our group's doughnut burger! Yes, that's a jam doughnut on top.
G. G.
This is the place to go for great American food. Ordered the Chicken Stack with Mac & Cheese and it did not disappoint! What I liked is you could choose what fries you wanted (garlic, cheese, chilli etc..) and then could also choose a side of your choice. Lots of food options. The cocktails were ok. The only real criticism I have is it's quite a small setting and it got quite hot which isn't ideal when eating.
D. R.
I mean what can I say. The food here never disappoints!
S. M.
Bubba Q is the place to go to have a filling meaty meal. The food is cooked nicely giving all the meat a tender quality, and the sauces they are covered in are perfect for the range of meats that you can have.
The seating area feels cramped and people are on top of each other, but that would be the only complaint i would have of Bubba Q.
R. N.
It was nice enough used a voucher so we got good value. My food was decent, had the chicken platter, however wifes pulled pork was stone cold. Our wee boy had a kids meal which at £5 is excellent. Staff were good and sorted the cold food. Not sure I'd go back though.
A. F.
The atmosphere is cosy, the food is absolutely delicious. The spare ribs are huge! The fries are amazing. The root beer is not very good though. Just maple syrup flavor. Cream soda was good. Lemon ice tea was delicious.
R. W.
Food was fantastic. Serving size awesome (I'm 6'1" and about 230 lbs - completely satisfied). Staff polite. Price reasonable for the amount of food received, especially in England (a bit more expensive than Canada).
M. G. R.
We really enjoyed our food at Bubba Q - we had the donut burger & vegetarian burger (with added patty - so not so vegetarian haha) and we really have nothing bad to say. The milkshake and cocktail was amazing & the decor was very laid back and quite cool. Customer service was good and food came out quite quickly. Thank you. M from August Travel NZ.
P. B.
Was very impressed for a small venue tucked in between shop fronts just a door with the name on and down a set of stairs. The staff were great it was busy when we went and they spent a few moments try to get us a spot and I thought it would take a while to get served but they took the drinks and food and we were served in 15 minutes and it was very tasty would definitely recommend giving it a go if you are on the mile in Edinburgh
C. M.
Pork spare ribs are amazing! Size portions are big, come here hungry! Prices great, staff friendly. Gluten and dairy free options available. Noticed they do bottomless wings from £12 Sunday-Thursday. Will definitely be back for that!
K. K.
Edinburgh needed a place like this. There's a variety of burgers with slightly wacky modern twists. The portions are large. The restaurant itself is really cool! The staff are enthusiastic too. I'd go back to try the ribs.
A. P.
Food is fantastic, though the portions are large and I could barley finish. For the cost, the quality and portion is great. Service was quick and friendly. Would certainly recommend. Unfortunately no disabled access from what we can see and we ended up seated upstairs which was difficult for my pregnant wife, but they were apologetic and advised to book ahead in figure
J. D.
Well worth the money! The food tastes great...with a friendly vibe with great back ground music that isn't to loud, so you can hear your friends talk
J. H.
Another place where we ate on our stag weekend and I must say what a place! If you love real meat then this is the place. The brisket and chilli chips and chilli beans were just perfect. The meat just melted in your mouth, one of our drunken group ordered a portion of chicken hot wings and by god they are hot, you have been warned! Another one of the group had death by bacon and when you see the size of this meal you can see why! This place was fantastic even with us lot, 12 of us, they catered for all of us no bother and the copious amounts of beer just kept flowing. Brilliant place and the food exceptional. Prices are reasonable also so overall can't fault this place hence why I have given it 5 stars!
N. D.
It’s a popular place; but booking a table was super simple on the website. We definitely had eyes bigger than bellies syndrome & ordered too much for 2 of us! The service was super friendly, loved the garlic parmesan fries, but thought the sweet potato fries could do with some seasoning (heaps of smoked paprika & touches of ground coriander & mustard powder work really well btw). We had the Pit Boss feast & both agreed the burnt ends were the best part, all meats were tasty & cooked well, the sausages were lovely, & the wings were juicy but with crispy skin, although the pulled beef was a little dry; maybe needed more sauce. We didn’t finish it all & happily boxed up the leftovers to takeaway. Will return when next in Edinburgh.
S. S.
Absolutely fantastic food, service great, price good very happy with experience would recommend and go again if visiting Edinburgh again 👍
M. C.
Quick bite to eat here a couple of weeks ago. Great quick service and the food was lovely. Definitely visit again.
K. T.
A good place for meat lovers. This is an OK subterranean BBQ place, portion sizes were good and the food was tasty. I do wish they had a bitter in the drinks list, but the Boston Lager is OK. Unfortunately my benchmark for this type of restaurant is Red's True BBQ in Leeds, and BubbaQ isn't quite there yet. Its a little tight for space, but on the High St in Edinburgh that's to be expected. Food was good, and I'd have no issues at all if I hadn't eaten at Red's, so I'd say if you're a die hard carnivore, you'll love it. If you've tried a few BBQ places then like me it might not make your top 5. Still a good choice for a tasty feed in Edinburgh though.
p. s.
that's some serious BBQ restaurant!
pork and ribs are way above the scottish pub standard, fries and side dishes are not just for display, but actually good to eat.
but are the little details that makes this place stand out, such as unlimited sauce supply, decently clean tables and a full roll of kirchen paper on each for the messy eaters :)
M. G.
Excellent food, excellent service, reasonable prices!
J. K.
I loved this place!!!
J.
Average really. Food was warm, not hot. Sat us right by the kitchen/toilets when there were loads of free spaces. Prices are steep for what you can tell is takeaway food, but portions are big. £2.50 for a can of Fanta. Good music though.
S. T. (.
Staff were lovely and not overly attentive. Food was delicious and well worth the prices. Best mac and cheese I've had in a long while from a restaurant! The choice of bbq sauces at the table is a great idea too! Would definitely recommend dropping in here if you are around Edinburgh and want something "dirty" to eat.
R. K.
The meals are large portions, but good. Layout a bit cramped. Access is down some narrow stairs.
M. M.
Great service, food arrived quickly. Amazing burgers
I. M.
A burger made with doughnuts instead of a bun should not work, but it does. It really does.
H. S.
Delicious food, good selection of beers available with it. The hot dogs are cracking, they come loaded with toppings. Don't get a side unless you're starving! Cool atmosphere and a local foodie favourite, just a little expensive.
C.
Great service, BBQ as good as we've had in the US & as for Bubba's Waffle!!!
D. W.
Amazing food. Recommend the Waffle burger
T. V.
Tried to get in here on Tuesday evening but we hadn't booked and disappointingly for us, they had no availability. We returned Wednesday for a quick and easy lunch as we trotted around the city. Good food, swift service, good price. Glad we came back :)
B. T.
Amazing hotdog, I got the one with pulled pork and pickles. It also came with coleslaw which helped balance the meat. The entrance is small but when under it feels like a nice relaxing place with a mini bar. Would 100% recommend.
A. H.
I went there on my first night of my holiday weekend in Edinburgh and I absolutely adored it. Food was amazing, drinks were amazing, the waitress were the most friendly gals I've ever seen in a restaurant, the place had a really nice vibe.
I had the pull pork tacos with chips and Mac and Cheese and it was beautiful.
I will definitely come back when in Edinburgh
R. M.
Simply amazing. Great food and the music selection was absolutely perfect. Highly recommended.
d. p.
Fun BBQ place with loads of meaty options to choose from.
Unfortunately the BBQ choices are all a bit soggy as nothing has a bark or a smoke ring underneath.
Could definitely do with a bit of more heat in the smoker to build up a crust!
S. T.
Great food and super quick service! Recommend booking a table online before as very busy!
S. E.
Very good hot dogs at a decent price. Good size menu and would go back
D. C.
Great burgers and barbecued american food, the brisket beef with bacon fries and mac n cheese were a winning combination.
A. C.
Tasty food, large portions, friendly staff - what more needs to be said?
f.
If your in the area and hungry for a bite be sure to stop by but be sure to book a table when busy as the place is small and doesn’t have a huge amount of tables.
I cannot talk to the bbq as I came for one thing the dirty burger, hold the bun this bad boy is top n tailed with a iced ringed donut and maple syrup for days. Sure thing I got diabetuss but man it was worth it :)
T. G.
very fresh and pleasant food. The service is up to standard. always laugh and friendly. good and convenient parking parking
L. D.
American style food and milkshakes. Was an amazing dinner. The brisket was particularly moreish!!
F. B.
Service was really good and extremely quick. Atmosphere was lovely. Unfortunately the food wasn't up to an amazing standard and it did appear to all just be reheated and gave more of a fast food vibe judging from the quality of the food.
Not a bad place in the slightest, but don't have your hopes up for fresh American style barbeque food. Great if you want quick filling food.
L. S.
Good quality bbq food very tasty and we couldnt finish our portions.....very unusal for my partner!! Defo recommend for informal good grub.
R. D.
Best food in Edinburgh! Absolutely delicious. Discovered this on our last day of our holiday and wished we could come back more.
R. L.
Visited here during the fringe, hadn't booked but they were able to accommodate. Our server was absolutely lovely, she paid so much attention to our two year old, bringing him crayons and offered to keep our food hot while my husband changed the two year olds nappy. Food was 4*, service 5*!
L. B.
You are advised to book in advance, but they had seats upstairs. The waiters were very nice and the food was delicious. Portions are large. Price was very reasonable. Would go again.
G. E.
Great food at reasonable prices and friendly staff, well worth a visit if you're in the area!
R. S.
Great lunch time menu with very good prices. The ribs fell off the bones and the nachos were the best that I’ve had in a while with no skimping on the toppings. Definitely worth it to visit for the lunch time menu.
s. w.
Meat overload !!
It is a real American experience in Scotland.
Well done Bubba Q!!
m. h.
Waited a year to go and wasn't disappointed.
Incredibly tasty food and very polite staff
K. N.
Love it, hidden away in the Royal Mile it is quite the Gem. Being responsible I limit myself to once a month, otherwise I'd be stuffed every day. Makes me happy to go here.
M. G.
Burger was tasty, dirty spicy fries were awesome, would recommend for fast tasty food.
J. B.
Best BBQ in Edinburgh. Worth a visit if you love meat
C. M.
Couldnt believe the price of £18 for all of this. Genuine smoked meat and so tender. Best ribs ive had anywhere in the uk. Will come back.
d.
Amazing food, lovely little hidden away basement bbq food in Edinburgh. Great food good prices fabulous staff.
J. F.
Food, service and decor lovely.
Prices slightly out of range, but it is an old-town based restaurant.
A. P.
Excellent selection of great tasting food (with big servings) with fast and friendly service. Restaurant has a great atmosphere and is just small enough before it gets cramped. Love it.
N. S.
Great food, friendly staff and a good value lunch deal.
S. B.
The food here is bloody amazing! Tried plenty menu items throughout lockdown and all of them were super tasty so we had to try out the food in person! Visited today for my boyfriends 21st with some family and all of us loved the food, the cocktails were amazing too, tried 3 or 4 different ones myself and they were all very good! I had the chicken tacos and they were lovely, made even better by their Carolina sauce which I ended up buying a bottle of to take home as it was that good, some of the best hot sauce I've had! The staff were super attentive and made sure we never had empty glasses, can't praise them enough! Their burgers are delicious as well, this was our main lockdown takeaway fix! Highly recommend visiting here
D. D.
Amazing food great atmosphere staff where amazing and very friendly even had a photo with Eddie
F. B.
Excellent food and cocktails. Definitely worth a visit. Bbq smell goes round your heart.
A. M.
It's the best bbq I've had in Edinburgh . This was like a pork belly steak ontop of a rack of ribs.... amazing! Their sauces are great too!
M. A.
Amazing as always! Never a bad meal in this place! The baby back ribs were out of this world 😍 and there was more than enough for 2 of us! Xx
C. R.
Was ok. Had the sharing platter so got to try ribs, beef, chicken wings and sausages. You get a lot of meat for your money but I was expecting a little more from the other reviews.
M. V.
Average place, indeed very american with over extensive use of sugary sauces and no proper seasoning, which for the prices, it is just not justifies.
J. M.
Wow just wow food was amazing will defo go back ...
P. J.
Awesome food (and good portions!) and great service. Brisket just melts in the mouth.
C. P.
Not quite what we expecting. It's hard to get a smokehouse right and it largely comes down to the quality of the meat. Here it just lacked a distinctive style. Was quite bland and didn't really have a wow factor. Think of it more like Wheatherspoons for smoked meats. Solid service, a good range of beers but all together it's just not somehthing I'd ever come back for. The price also certainly did not reflect the food. Sorry but it's not a recommendation from us.
B. C.
Fantastic American Diner on the Royal Mile, there were 6 in my party, we all ordered something different and we were all very happy, the food is great, beer on tap (ask your waitress) and the service was first class.
I would highly recommend this place for everyone to try, it's great.
N. M.
Brilliant burgers, dogs and bbq. Visited two days in a row it was that good. The staff are friendly and fast. Food and drink good value. I work nearby and didn't know it was here. Now I know and will be back plenty!
G. W.
Great food and great staff. Took our 11 month old who has a milk allegy. There was nothing on the menu that he could eat. The lovely waitrees offered to cook a plain chicken breast (which was not on the menu). Very accommodating. We had pooped in during the day to book. They noticed we had two girls and had pre set the table with colouring pictures. Nothing special, but it's the little details that makes the difference. Food was lovely too. Would highly recommend.
K.
Not a 5 star restaurant but eat my fill and nice staff and drink .. atmosphere was good . Food wasn't absolutely 5 star tho .. thanks
P. N.
Great little place hidden gem in the Royal Mile. Tasty food reasonably priced.
C. M.
Really nice burgers, waitress was nice and friendly too.
C. R.
Nice big american food. Defo a place for a good meal. Sharing plater is defo enough for two
V. B.
Well worth a visit made to feel welcome by the staff food first class social distancing in place and temperature taken at the door keep up the good work
S. T.
It was good. Unfortunately when you've had bbq in the southern USA nothing quite measures up. Cool little place though.
H. Ó. L.
The best blue cheese burger I have ever had "black and blue". Would go there again. Sorry about the photo, the burger was so good I almost forgot to take a picture. 😄
L. L.
Amazing food, the special was so good! Great service as always, thank you!
S. L.
Excellent food and nice atmosphere. Brilliant location on the Royal Mile. Chicken waffle burger highly recommended.
S. G.
Great food and service . Will definitely be back
B. G.
It's pretty cramped in there, the chicken is a bit on the dry side - the brisket was tasty. It was okay for lunch.
P. Y.
Tasty ribs and wings. The chips are extraordinarily tasty as well, definitely worth the price.
B. T.
Amazing hotdog, I got the one with pulled pork and pickles. It also came with coleslaw which helped balance the meat. The entrance is small but when under it feels like a nice relaxing place with a mini bar. Would 100% recommend.
K. T.
A good place for meat lovers. This is an OK subterranean BBQ place, portion sizes were good and the food was tasty. I do wish they had a bitter in the drinks list, but the Boston Lager is OK. Unfortunately my benchmark for this type of …

Another place where we ate on our stag weekend and I must say what a place! If you love real meat then this is the place. The brisket and chilli chips and chilli beans were just perfect. The meat just melted in your mouth, one of our …

Delicious food and quick service! Definitely coming back!

A-mazing, one of the best grills in Scotland
M. A.
Amazing as always! Never a bad meal in this place! The baby back ribs were out of this world 😍 and there was more than enough for 2 of us! Xx

Great food and really nice people!
C. S.
Excellent as always. Fast friendly service, tasty food. Sign up to their mailing list and get money off as well!
R. L.
Unfortunately not the best bbq place in Edinburgh. Quite expensive for what it was and just generally quite average.
S. A.
I cannot express how much I loved this place!!! Amazing friendly and helpful staff! The BEST bbq you can buy. Couldn't recommend enough! Wish I could eat there more!
B. C.
Lovely American bbq food. If you are in Edinburgh they are a great place to eat.
J. W.
lots of delicious food and drink and a pretty good price. If you like bbq food and great service then this is the place for you.
F. D.
Amazing food, THE best milkshake I've ever had (sticky toffee pudding flavour) and very polite helpful staff. We'll definitely be back!!
K. T.
Absolutely fantastic..loved it..can't wait to go again thank you
G. F.
Loved the food here. Really nice selection of smoked meats. Ribs, burnt ends and fries were amazing. They have plenty of sauces from smoky to spicy.
The person serving us was really smily and happy which made it a better experience.
J. F.
Food, service and prices all spot on.
J. H.
We ate here the other day. We ordered the big sharing meat platter. We didn't expect the platter to be so big as it was specific so we also ordered coleslaw and Mac and cheese. It was way to much. Myself and my partner eat alot so if you are a group of 4 it's perfect to have with some extra sides but as a pair it was a lot. The food was super tasty as well as they had veggie options for other food types. The cocktails weren't over prices and we were more than happy to pay for the food. The waitress seemed to be the only one working which you could tell was annoying her and she seemed to be rushing us a little. However we still tipped as we felt bad as she seemed overwhelmed. (Night of the 16th December)
L. W.
Great staff Great food and great prices to match!
Laid back, family friendly casual dining. Will definitely be back!
N. B.
Tasty BBQ food. Great value when using an itison voucher
M. L.
Excellent big dishes. Great meat and sauces. Good service and they're happy to provide boxes to take leftovers home.
Only downside that brisket was a bit dry.
Good place for group meals on 10ish people, surely they can accommodate more as well if needed.
Multiple sharing platters available.
D. G.
Great BBQ! Shame they didn't have all beers available when we were there. Order the pitmaster! Great combo.
J. M.
As there isn’t a lot of bbq places in Edinburgh this place does hold the title of being the best, the prices are great and the portions are very fair. The sad thing, however, is that the food isn’t actually that good. The burnt ends were dry and the ribs didn’t have that much sauce on them. The Mac and cheese was good though!
K. G.
Lovely staff, cool decor and the food could not be faulted. Will be returning! The ribs were incredible!
M. R.
Raspberry mojito was amazing, so were the parmesan garlic fries.
L. R.
Had lovely meal here on visit to Edinburgh. Big portions so pleased we shared tacos to start and sliders for mains. Nice cocktails and very friendly staff.
S. P.
Brilliant menu and food tastes even better than it looks!
J. S.
Bubba Q wot a place it was the smell on the street that attractive us the smell of bbq it was unreal. So down the stairs we went well it did not disappoint the portion sizes r massive and the food taste so good. I definitely recommend that u try this place when in Edinburgh on the royal mile. As a family of four we were very happy
And the desserts r really good too.
R. P.
Food was great but the experience was rushed and expensive.
J. L.
Best meat plate I've had in an American diner, so huge with all the meats! I got the pit master tray but be warned, it's really huge!
A. G.
Went to bubbas on recent visit to Edinburgh and loved it good food great service friendly staff the only bad thing was being subjected to the BRO chat from table next to ours
S. P.
Truly delicious, one of the best places for ribs in Edinburgh, the meat just falls off the bone and the range of bbq sauces is mouthwateringly good. I'd truly recommend this place despite the slightly inconvenient location.
G. S.
Decided to try this place tonight as first glance at the menu it looks very appetising and the value for money is there.
To start with I had the Pitmaster tray, the pulled pork was actually really nice but couldve done with a BBQ sauce to take away from the slight dryness.
It comes with a third of baby ribs which the meat just fell right off the bone (which is what you're looking for) but i felt like there wasn't actually much seasoning on them and the sauce didnt seem to glaze the rack.
I enjoyed the haggis sausages which is a first time trying for myself but these were a treat!
As for the brisket burnt ends and pulled beef again they were nice but it seemed to lack a little flavour and in all honesty wasn't the warmest which was a bit dissapointing.
Onto the sides now I had the garlic parmasan fries which were the highlight of the meal, probably the best version of these that I've tried, lovely garlic sauce over them! (highly recommend if you do choose to go here).
Secondly I had the coleslaw which was very nice as well, had a sort of mustard taste through it, very authentic BBQ coleslaw.
All in all I'd give this place another go if I stayed in the area but unfortunately I was just visting, seen a few good reviews on the burgers and the menu does have quite a good bit of variety on it so it's worth a try.
S. N.
Oh!my! GOD!! I cannot put into words how absolutely devine this meal was!! The baby back ribs...jings!! Blue burger...((mic drop!!)) Chicken tenders...((gets on ma knees and prays to the chicken lawwwd above))
You guys are just amazing...I have never been a big meat eater... usually because I could bounce and slam dunk it...but this...so soft..so delicious..so tender...the only place I will be going to from now on..end of!!
G. G.
Nice staff and good food. Very American inspired!
K. G.
Great food and service
G. I.
Absolutely fantastic Southern style BBQ. Ribs that simply falls off the bones, brilliant!
In terms of service, they were friendly and did a good job.
Will definitely come back and recommend to any meat lovers.
Ps : Make a reservation as it's quite small and often fully booked
S. M.
Quick service but fun place to hang and I couldn't resist their doughnut burger - give it a try!!!
P. C.
Lovely little restaurant. Primarily American style food with burgers, but the food was lovely and definitely filling. They were able to accommodate our request for an early meal despite having a later booking and it being a Friday night. Staff were lovely and a great atmosphere with music which matched the venue well. Definitely worth a visit and not too expensive either.
N. R.
Was looking forward to a nice night out for the first date with my girlfriend of 2 years
Food was great and filled me up nicely
But unfortunately 2 so called men sitting next to us staring at my girlfriend eating and making her feel uncomfortable.
Then started staring at me trying to intimidate me I asked if there was a problem and told them to stop looking at us so they did and were laughing and talking in a foreign language then said "you want to fight me" in English not at me though but said it to his friend loud enough to hear.
We got the bill and started to leave and then they were saying wait outside and blew me kisses. Was rude and ruined the good atmosphere.
L. W.
Food was really good and wasn't as expensive as a lot of places in the royal mile
J. G.
We stumbled into Bubba Q well after 10:00PM on a Thursday night, starving. We'd just got to town and couldn't find another place to eat that wasn't pizza or noodles. I'm from Texas and was a little curious about Scottish BBQ but I've got to say that I was not disappointed. My wife and I both ordered two meat plates. She wasn't in love with the rib rub on her half rack of ribs but liked the pulled pork. I thought the pulled pork was pretty good too. I also had the brisket and enjoyed it as well. My overall impression is favorable. The sauces were good. The portions were huge and the beer was cold. All in all, I thought this was good BBQ, especially for being 5,000 miles from home.
J. D.
I'm from Southern Virginia and although it wasn't what I grew up with, it really hit the spot.
S. L.
I am from the US and have had plenty of BBQ. I won't say I'm an expert but I will say there are expectations that come with having had the real deal (s).
In this case, I would say the brisket is spot on or close enough.
The sauces are also spot on.
What wasn't so great were the fries (chips). No seasoning, very little flavor. This isn't what I expect from an American BBQ joint.
Atmosphere is nice and so is the wait staff.
A. B.
Delicious food and quick service! Definitely coming back!
J. M.
Great food with friendly staff and atmosphere.
J.
Nice selection of BBQ food and decent drink selection..had some wings, half rack of ribs, loaded fries and some corn. A lovely Paolozzi draft too. Service was great and covid measures felt well dealt with. Amazing value when you include covid mon-wed discount.. £20 a head roughly with drinks
L. J.
Love the food. Must try when you visit Edinburgh
A. H.
Decent price, good fit for fast food demand
A. G.
Liked this. Nice easy vibe and good food. Three of us had one sharing starter, a main each, and drinks which came out at £90 total. Big portions so no chance of stomaching any deserts. Popular place.
S. B.
We visited on Saturday 3rd July and it didn't disappoint, food was fantastic, drinks were flowing and the service was great, highly recommended
C. D.
Walls of old corrugated metal fencing and bench seats made from pallets is all you need when the food is the main attraction. Great portions sizes and great service. Visited during Covid-19 and although I wasn't asked my details for contact tracing on every table is instructions on how to compete this. Will be back.
M. D.
Great BBQ of high quality and more than enough food. I've tried a lot of their offerings and never been disappointed. My only criticism is they lack a good range of drinks, minimal draft beer choices and limited wine available. For BBQ lovers this place is a must.
A. P.
Fantastic place for food, great menu, food and prices. I was stuffed all day
A. T.
Great little place. Delicious food and good sized portions. Relatively inexpensive for this part of the city too. Kid and adult friendly. Keep you eyes peeled when looking for it though, it's right next to Jackson's Close on the Royal Mile.
j. r.
Super fast service, and the food is very good quality, they make really nice chips too which is surprisingly hard to find 😀
R. H.
Great chicken burger, cajun fries & salad. Quaint basement atmosphere replicating traditional U.S. southern BBQ restaurant. Good selection of BBQ entrees as well. Heavy metal music was out of character with the restaurant however the waitress was kind enough to turn down the volume.
I. W.
Good portion sizes. The meat on the platter was tender and well cooked but a bit lacking in flavour. Corn on the cob had so much butter that was completely unnecessary. Service was quick.
R. W.
The food is excellent, great value for your money. The only downside was the table I was offered, right beside the bar which smelt of chemicals and a weird candle they obviously lit to mask other smells. I can't fault the food though.
A. R.
Disappointed with the Big V burger which was quite soggy and lacked flavor. As ND the fries were just really potato-y and blacked flavor and salt. The burger with the "Moving Mountains" patty was delicious though! Just a bit too small. I wouldn't say it was worth the price despite it being quite reasonable.
P. W. (. P.
Where to start. Eh. Let's go with amazing. Just amazing. Food was beyond my expectations. Staff were friendly and had genuine smiles. Gents toilet was a tad tight. But the food by far makes up for it. Not been? Go!
E. 1.
Great little restaurant if you're craving something meaty. The onion rings and chips were great. Brisket was very well smoked, wings were nice, but the pulled pork was a little under seasoned for my taste. Best bbq restaurant in Edinburgh.
C. S.
Great beef brisket and the portions were huge! A good selection of beers to accompany our meals and the right type for barbecue food.
Access was a bit difficult as we had a pushchair, but they very kindly let us in through the fire exit so we could get the pushchair in without needing to lift it down the stairs of their regular entrance.
Would definitely revisit if we were visiting Edinburgh again; top stuff!
G. P.
What a little hidden jem of a place great food lovely people
S.
Good service and portion sizes. The food can't be considered BBQ in the American tradition. I think we had some roast beef on our platter, it definitely wasn't brisket. The food was a bit underseasoned and dry but worth a visit if you fancy filling up on meat.
C. F.
Had a voucher for here and wasn't dissapointed. Food portions were huge, we couldn't get near finishing everything included in the offer. Burger was really tasty and pulled pork delicious. Fries great too and range of homemade sauces to try. Will definately be back for more.
T. N.
Fantastic find. Really enjoyable and fast service
A.
Food and service was excellent. I ordered the burnt ends, which were delicious. The boss ordered a tasting plate of sorts and got nowhere near finishing it all. Our kids had the kids meals and they loved them.
N. K.
Very nice and cosy place to have American BBQ food. Bit pricey but i think its wort trying at least one and see yourself as well. Wings were absolutely spot on and also pulled pork meat. Good restaurant. Bit small in capacity and its underground. Overall worth going to try their food.
D. H.
A gem on the Royal MIle. It's easy to miss with a door front entrance to the restaurant one level down. Because of this it wasn't too busy. The food was excellent and service was very good. Prices were reasonable too with our family of four able to order meals and drinks for under 50 pounds, which is amazing value for the location. Highly recommend.
P. P.
Had the combo of ribs and wings, well worth it. Tasty and good value for money
A. N.
Generous portions, but food let us down. Got the nachos with pork, and the pork was dry and obviously cooked very ealrier or even the previous day. Very disappointing. Bacon strips also very dry and greasy. The burger patty as such was rubbery and flavourless.
Quick service though, and reasonable prices.
K. J.
Great BBQ... Recommend!
H. E.
We were visitors from Wales and only had 3 days in Edinburgh, but the place was that good that we ate there twice in 3 days. The place had so much character, was nice to meet the owners wife who served us as she went into great detail to explain what the name meant...if you want to know you've got to go there to find out! The food was fantastic, a great American diner from start to finish...plus they had Blue Moon beer....my favourite!! The table sauces were incredible! You must try them, really great atmosphere, great music, tasty TASTY food!! Great presentation as well on the food...you feel like your in the heart of Southern America! Thanks guys at Bubba Q, we look forward to coming again! Amy, Luke - Wales, Uk (Hound Effect)
N. M.
After a miscommunication about reservation time, staff bent over backwards to get us a table as soon as possible. The food was fantastic, reminds me so much of bbq in the states - the decor, the place settings, the presentation, it was great even down to the chunks of beef in the pit beans which gave them great smoky flavor. Staff was incredible, I'll definitely be going back to get another sticky toffee pudding shake!
A. W.
Brilliant food and great service will most definately be coming back here again on my next visit to edinburgh.
R. B.
Nice tasting food with good and varied BBQ flavours and friendly staff. Design inside is typical of current hipster styling with bare wood, exposed walls and metal work - it fits the BBQ restaurant well. It is a small but comfortable venue suited more to small group lunch dining. We were looking for a light bite and had a few starters and sides which were well cooked and the quality was good - better than some of the other BBQ places in the city. The larger meals coming out of the kitchen looked well portioned and well presented. I will come back again.
J. B.
This place is fantastic, the food is amazing!
Had the pit master platter, you get ribs, beef, pulled pork, wings, thighs and sausages + 2 sides! Opted for dynamite fries and Mac cheese! Food and staff are fantastic here. Highly recommended!
r.
Good food and service. A place I visit every time I'm in the city.
a. s.
Great place, great food and fab service. We'll definitely be back again family all enjoyed it..
S. G.
Ribs were dry and tough. Having lived in the United States for 5 years now I've tried a lot of great barbecue, so it's hard to live up to expectations. I was excited at the prospect of trying barbecue with Scottish pork, it's a shame it couldn't deliver. Otherwise, the atmosphere was great, side dishes were good and the beer was refreshing.
C. S.
Anything from the BBQ section of the menus is great, the burgers are a little underwhelming. The portions are more than adequate and if you have a starter and a main course you will have to find some way back up the stairs you came in down (mind your head). Very hipster decor, but that seems to be on trend for Edinburgh.
P. T.
Food was amazing.couldnt fault anything wish we got more.waiters were great felt very welcomed
R. G.
Absolutely loved this place - cosy, nice atmosphere and good music. The food was amazing, although there was only one vegetarian burger and one vegan burger on the menu. In the future I'd love to see more veggie options!
C. C.
Really tasty barbeque food, reasonably priced with huge portions. Chicken wings are ace, they're massive and super soft. My partner and I usually choose to share our sides as the portions are really big!
M. T.
Can't even begin to describe how great this place is. Not that good for a healthy meal but who cares. Great selection of burgers, amazing pulled pork and pretty decent hot dogs. You can also treat yourself to a can of root beer which is always a nice bonus. And please try a Dirty Donut. I know, burger in a donut sounds like an abomination, but paired with crisly bacon and maple syrup it's worth all the distress you will put your heart through while eating it. It's delicious. Especially with Bubba Q's own barbecue sauce. Just writing it makes me hungry and a bit jealous you will get to try it for the first time.
R. S.
Friendly staff, well priced, good authentic american food
D. R.
This place is fantastic! Amazing bbq meats (we had ribs and brisket), with loaded fries and sides. Huge portions too, we could barely finish! Would definitely come back.
J. W.
Nice food not the best bbq place I've been. Ribs and Wings are the best bet.
G. W.
Cool little underground place. Enjoyed the food. Got the meat platter as I couldn't decide on what to get.
The food was more than enough for two people.
Loved the ribs, and the spicy fries...I just wish they had hotter sauces ...
J. M.
The food is amazing. Large portions very affordable recommend highly. Staff friendly not rushed at all especially during Edinburgh Festival. Suggest you book to guarantee a good night.
T. M.
Really cosy little restaurant. Had wings for a starter with BBQ sauce which I thought was ok, kinda had to cover the wings with sauce myself. Then the two meat plate as a main, baby ribs and pulled pork. Didn't finish this, pulled pork wasn't really seasoned and ribs were ok, came to the table a bit lukewarm. The smothered fries and coleslaw is really good from here. The staff were absolutely lovely, also liked the interior decor.
S. G.
Solid BBQ joint. Had the ribs and the brisket, both good (but not amazing). Should have taken the membrane off the ribs though, I thought. Recommend the beans and the jalapeño fries as well. Service was really quick and friendly.
G. R.
Would recommend this place to anybody! If you're going to Edinburgh and love meat, then this is the place for you! Super cheap, amazing quality food and lovely staff! I had the beef brisket and it was hands down the best beef I've ever had in my life 😍 try it!
J. W.
Great food- donut burger- shockingly tasty, reasonable prices and lovely service. Definitely recommend 😊
S. M.
Really enjoyed the food here, no nonsense approach, messy eating is encouraged. The burgers were tasty, the milkshake I had was lush. I'd go back again if I lived anywhere near it.
R. S.
This place is seriously under marketed!
The food here is incredible... it is true to form American BBQ style food. No fuss but all the taste!!
I have never had meat like it!
I really recommend a trip. Here if you are visiting Edinburgh!
I am devastated to know that it will be more than 250 miles away when I am home :(
M. P.
Excellent food and a great atmosphere
l. J.
Love the food we ordered. We are gonna miss their delicious dirty dougnut and beef brisket. Friendly staff and vibrant environment. Must visit when you are in Edinburgh
T. E.
Lots of barbecue meat favourites - wings, ribs, brisket, bbq chicken, pulled pork, etc. Prices are reasonable for a royal mile place. Beer selection is centred on bland American brands. The restaurant is downstairs from the street, so I imagine wheelchair access is difficult.
l. r.
Good but not great meat, something lacking in the preparation I think. The brisket was good but I think could have done with marinating a little longer. Great selection of beers though.
g. l.
Very nice American diner....
M. H.
A-mazing, one of the best grills in Scotland
H. D.
Found this place just by st Giles cathedral, it's in a basement level and has a nice 'American diner' feel about it. The food is affordable and the portions are very generous. The service was good too, the staff efficient and friendly. Defiantly a good place to go to if you're travelling on a budget.
G. M.
Does what it does so so well! My wife and I stopped in for dinner, and the food was just fantastic. Really tasty bbq, the meat was all cooked so well, and the portion sizes were fantastic for the price. Couldn't recommend this place enough!
J. D.
Perfect place to eat hamburguers. They are delicious and very tasty. If you like chilly flavours you are in the perfect place! The place is very cozy and very very well decorated, and sometimes hard to see from the outside. We went one year ago, and was the best place we went to eat in all Edinbugh.
M. D.
Without the doubt the best burger i ever had.
Very good prices and excellent food quality. Top it up with most professional and friendly service and that's the description of Bubba Q.
Everything on the menu was just mouth-watering and I'm sure you'll find something for yourself over there.
It's a shame I can't give more than 5 stars here :)
P. G.
Nice hidden gem. Food is incredible and good price as well for what you get. Tasty burger with very nice sauce combinations.
Very tasty and soft pulled pork.
Definitely try it out.
L. W.
Great place for a bite with friends or family. Portions are plenty and prices are decent. Situated just off Royal Mile but easy enough to to find. Really enjoyed dining there. Staff is very nice and very helpful. Highly recommended.
M.
Tasty food served in generous portions and friendly, attentive staff make this place worth visiting. The decor is obviously a little bit quirky, but in my opinion comes across just a little bit cheap and tacky.
A. H.
I had the doughnut burger as it sounded too good to be passed up! I was surprised that the burger came sandwiched between 2 full doughnuts rather than one cut in half which made it look even more impressive!
I would say that it could do with a little more maple syrup to really make it worthwhile as I personally woo ldnt buy it again if I was to return.
Everything is rather expensive for what you get (£5 for quite a small milkshake) but everything was very tasty so I can't really fault it in that regard
B. w.
Love this place, great food and service. All very quickly served. Very near waverley station and right on The Royal Mile. The burgers and hot dogs are amazing. Great choice of wings with starters/sides.
E. C.
Really expensive for what you get its tasty but really? ... ripping of tourists is not good tho the rental location is probably the reason being on the royal mile. But waitress was not into smiling or conversation, always a bit of a sticking point that one .thank god she had arms to bring out the food or i would never have guessed why she was there !!
C. M. (.
Great food lovely staff.
N. B.
Food was great. Brisket was superb and inline with expectations. Dynamite fries are just that!! Portions are generous and staff were great and always on hand if anything was needed
D. A.
Really tasty food. Had a sharing plate between my husband and I and it was was HUGE! Everything on there was delicious. Great location and great service.
D. T.
Popped in on the off chance there was a table free and there was, lovely little place, great food plenty of it very tasty.
C. “. C.
Great menu and reasonably priced
J. H.
Competes well with the BBQ in the states. I tried the baby back ribs and chicken wings and it was very good. Also tried the macaroni and cheese and it was amazing!! Highly recommend this spot to all visitors of Edingburgh!
E. B. L. d. l. C.
Excellent music, fast and friendly service, and above all: delightful food. Highly recommended!
R. S.
It's BBQ, and one of the better ones in Edinburgh. Portions are pretty big. Still not a patch on any BBQ places I've been to in the US, so if you are an American tourist you probably won't agree with the 4 stars.
H. R.
Food was fantastic and portions were huge. First time ever we have not finished our food. Well worth a visit.
C. Y.
guilty pleasure if you need some flavour packed fries and meats. some things had too much oil/ butter/salt though which made the fries very flavorful but the corn on cob inedible (tasted like it was dunked in cheap melted butter yuck)
J. D.
Amazing food. We got a sharer platter deal which was superb. Staff where nice and service was good. Not a family place though. No baby changing facilities and down steep steps.
J. B.
Food was brilliant - very generous portion size, very quick and friendly service and extremely tasty! Would definitely recommend.
D. W.
Bubba Q has a bit of a late 90's/early 00's alternative music vibe to it that is not too instrusive, with a welcoming atmosphere. The food was good and the sauces very tasty. The Carolina southwest is highly recommended.
C.
This is what Edinburgh has needed! Outstanding food at a good price. Perfectly cooked ribs and brisket, delish coleslaw and tasty homemade sauces. Also excellent music and efficient, friendly staff. Only suggestion would be to also offer a hot sauce. Will defs be back.
R. E.
I love this restaurant! I visited twice for dinner in the five days that I was in Edinburgh - the food is great, I love the atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are wonderful.
A. O.
Winner ribs and wings!
Amazing desserts and solid cocktails.
Good variety of beer and super friendly staff!
Nuff said, go there! Don't sleep on this place!
🤤🍔🍗

tried for the first time last night and can certainly say i will 110% be back, Food was absolutely amazing and the portion sizes are brilliant. Staff are very friendly, In seated with a drink and food within 15 minutes. highly recommend.

A nice find on the Royal Mile. You can smell the meat smoking walking down the stairs.

Great portions, good choice and fair pricing. A starter and a main was enough to fill two of us and we thoroughly enjoyed it all. Unusual decoration, building site style and friendly staff. Highly recommend a visit
T. M.
Really good bbq food, not the biggest menu but a decent enough choice. If you're up for a challenge I would definitely recommend the pitmaster tray. Staff were quick and friendly and made sure everything was ok.
P. B.
Good attention from the waitress but the food so-so, especially since the ribs were reheated
M. G.
Amazing bbq sauces! Went for the pitmaster tray, enjoyed the variety of the meats. The food wasn't too hot and arrived quite fast so it might not have been made to order.
b. h.
Seriously good food and plenty of it don't hesitate dive in. 👍👌
J. L.
Meat lovers delight. Such well cooked dishes are great and love the service.
Don't be put off by the low key surroundings it's the service and food that counts.
D. L.
Me and my wife split the Pitmaster Platter (£25) and we both left stuffed. The food was great, and with a couple of beers even better. The only downside was the unfriendly staff that run the place.
D. K.
Pulled BBQ pork and Mac n cheese. I know they say the Scots have greasy food but I couldn't drink a pint after. Tastes amazing though and well worth not being able to drink for the rest of the night
P. M.
Great food, Big portions
M. C.
Great little restaurant food was great service also. One star knocked of as the chips weren't cooked enough as they were still hard! Ribs, brisket, pulled pork were all cooked to perfection👍
B. S.
Great meat quality! Very tasty!
Check out the wings
R. K.
A small underground meat heaven. The food here is fantastic, the prices are good. Their milkshakes are to die for. Highly recommended if you visit Edinburgh.
J. L.
Plenty of choice on the menu. Food arrived promptly. Kasia was a very attentive host. Extremely friendly. I highly recommend.
S. M. (.
Great place to meet and eat. Great portion sizes and good staff. No phone signal as it's in a basement so make your calls and texts beforehand.
C.
Best BBQ I've had in Edinburgh so far. Good choice and good quality. It has made it onto my limited list of lunch places.
J. B.
Pretty good BBQ. Need to book ahead at least in Summer of 21
D. R.
Great vibe, waiting staff and food. Reasonably priced too. I had the beef brisket, cheese fries and beans... and I'll definitely be going back again for it!
R. C.
The atmosphere was fine, and the service was good. The food was excellent and authentic American style BBQ. I'm a Texan and I know about these things. Recommended.
E.
It's alright, food is kinda bland, masked by an abundance of hot sauce. It is pretty busy tho so I understand that the kitchen staff have alot of their plate. See what I did there..
K. M.
Great food, reasonable prices, will definitely return.
A. B.
Bubba Q is great! They have lots of amazing BBQ meaty food to choose from.
They also have a few bottles of different types of BBQ Sauce so you can slather your dish in your fave sauce or dip your burger or chips into it. Mmm.
Was amazing, I reccomend the three peice chicken meal. Wings, chicken strips and pulled chicken. With a side and chips!
A. B.
Food was fantastic, staff were amazing, the tacos were great. Portions size are huge. Will return
W. S.

D. J.
Great food and service here. Went twice on a stag do and then went back a third time with friends. Good selection of drinks and lovely cold beers!
I. W.
The food and staff were nice, the value for money was shocking. I was charged £2.50 for a can of Dr Pepper and my £9 burger didn't come with any sides.
R. M.
Really can't fault this place. Lovely grub and fast friendly service. Particularly love the mixed sandwich (Pit Boy I think) as you get a bit of everything.
J. S.
Best burgers in town and that brisket mmmm.
L. s.
Great size portions again but disappointed at the quality of food this time, meat was very fatty and some of the food wasn't hot enough
T. S.
Good bbq, nice server's, cool atmosphere. Can't complain, prices are good for lunch too. Would recommend if you're on the royal mile.
D. S.

G. C.
Great food choices and local drinks! Big portions so you need to be hungry!
E. M.
Large portion and generally the meat was good however onion rings over cooked some burnt. Table right at door very draught every time door opened. People waiting on tables crowded behind.
V. A.
Food is good. Remember to check the prices as same thing on main menu is repeated on lunch menu, but considerably cheaper. Quite a few things been taken off lunch menu too...
e.
Great place with superb service. Fantastic food for reasonable price. Definitely place to go in Royal Mile.

Edinburgh City Centre prices, is the only reason for 4 stars. Food always great. But end up spending a small fortune.

Not the greatest place to eat but ok. Very expensive and the ribs weren't very warm. Quick service though and plenty of food

Top quality and Bubba's dirty box at £13.50 is great value.
S. M. (. S.
Was very good food! Only reason for a 4 instead of a 5 star is the portion size could have been bigger.
