Lovely, family friendly cafe. Incredible portion sizes (we definitely ordered too much food, but this is our fault, not theirs🤣). We got the fajitas and a haggis, caramelised onion and cheddar ciabatta. Both were fantastic, onion rings and halloumi fries were also delicious. Great value, welcoming staff, will be coming back!

Just had an amazing breakfast and French toast with drinks with a friend here today. Super friendly staff, well timed, tasty and fresh food, served in welcoming surroundings. Had read some reviews claiming food not great, but was so pleased I went. So reasonably priced too, I can't get over how they weren't chocka block, as they absolutely deserve to be. Had great seating by the window, so got the lovely warm sun while watching the world go by. Would heartily recommend and will definitely be back! 😋

Lovely cafe just off the high Street. Solid middle of the road price point for tasty well presented spread. Portions are a good size and your kids will not be left wanting either with a nice range of the expected child friendly favorites. I've been with my blind partner and my disabled Dad. We were accommodated both times with grace and efficiency. Enough space to maneuver a standard mobility scooter or wheelchair. Never felt we were considered a problem. Highly recommended. Worth walking the extra distance from the beach for lunch.

A gem of a place for those with kids! The staff were so kind to my child and went the extra mile with his meal. I also noticed the other table that came in with their kids were kindly given a high chair for their daughter's doll. Clearly family orientated and welcome to all ages as there was a wide spectrum of people at the other tables. Food was simple and tasty with large portions for the prices. Cakes were particularly delicious. Highly recommend if you're visiting Portobello!

Honestly, aside from the latte this was kinda poor. I'd heard so many nice things too. First thing I noted was the pretty disgusting old looking aircon unit in the ceiling. Staff are nice and friendly. Could do with coffee training though. You're lost for anything beyond a cappuccino. As for the food. Their French toast is very bland and greasy. The full Scottish has beens splattered over everything with no possibility of isolating them. My main take away is that their chef is not trustworthy. Any chef who cuts a link sausage in half to cook it isn't confident in their ability to cook a sausage. You end up with 2 skinny overdone chipolatas instead of a nice sausage. Can't say I can see myself going back.

Absolutely fantastic service from all staff who are very welcoming and friendly. They adhere to all types of dietary requirements and if you don't know what to have they are happy to suggest something off the menu. I highly recommend the wraps or breakfasts 👌 Also loved seeing the staff out cleaning, using disinfectant, with the current situation going on. Can't wait to come back!!

Lovely food but poor service. Served a couple of tables who were sat after us. Conversations wi customers paying may be 'friendly' but it's not a good idea over a counter covered with food and crockery! Conversing with friends at the door whilst customers inside are waiting to have their orders taken!! The food was good. Poor customer service is easy to fix. Hopefully they do.

Can't get enough of this place. Been for breakfast; lunch and now dinner. (Not all on same day) and the experience just gets better and better. Food was fantastic. I ordered the prawn Marie rose as a starter and they're not shy with the prawns. Loaded with them who h was great. I then had the chicken supreme in mushroom sauce. Oh my God, melt in the mouth chicken. I am full as the portions are quite big but no complaints when the food is as tasty as that. Staff were top notch as usual. Friendly happy people working in a great little homely restaurants. Top marks again guys. Thank you for the lovely dinner.

Nearly full on a Thursday lunchtime. Options were varied, the portions were decent, and very reasonably priced. Service was top notch. Food arrived quickly. The deep fried haggis was particularly tasty, with excellent batter. Family friendly. Card payments not accepted, but there's a cash point a few mins away.

Place was busy, but it's fairly small so I wouldn't have expected them to seem so overwhelmed. We were sat at a dirty table which was cleared but not wiped. The staff were very nice, although the gent that kept popping over was maybe a bit much to deal with. We were halfway through our food before we got drinks, some of which never came at all. The food was fine, coffee was a bit on the weak side. A little tightening in some areas could drastically improve this little place

Came here with my fiance because our usual Porty brunch place was packed. What a lovely surprise! The main man had a full breakfast, and I had a french toast with bacon and maple syrup. OMG! It was amazing! The staff is friendly and the service is good. The decor is very basic, but neat and clean. They seemed to have a good selection of cakes, too. But couldn't possibly fit anything else in my stomach after that French toast. I wouldn't go if you are a big group, though, as the place is not so big.

20 of us had a meal here last night for my mother in laws 70th birthday and every single one of us thought the food was delicious & cooked to perfection!! This is a wonderful place: the food is always delicious and the service is friendly & prompt. It is a very popular place (unsurprisingly!) & the staff are great - even when it's so busy that they must be really stressed! Faultless in every way. Oh, and the value-for-money is unbeatable. Great for vegetarians, too.

I love this place because the staff are really friendly and helpful. They give a refill with coffee. I had the vegetarian breakfast. My friend had a smoothie. I think they give good value. I like to go there when in Portobello. Like many places there they do not object to dogs. There are a few seats outside too.

I went for the 11 Item breakfast for 6.95. it was ok. Personally I would have preferred less items (Potato Scone, Potato Cake, Fried Bread) and received better quality ingredients instead. The sausage seemed to be a low cost variety, the Haggis and black pudding weren't as good as some Scottish options and it all seemed like it had been cooked under a hot grill with some items precooked for speedy service. It was a nice atmosphere, very popular with locals 2 generations older than myself, and the service was pleasant and efficient.

Note this is a cafe/bistro and not a restaurant. The staff and food are excellent with great Scottish prices. Keith, the owner, leads with the banter, the more regular a customer the more risque the banter but always with good humour. We have been going here since it was on Portobello High Street and now that so many people have found it it can be difficult to get a seat. Go early and enjoy their breakfasts, continental or Scottish. Prices very good, ambiance great. My favourite breakfast place in Edinburgh

Love this little cafe/bistro. The food is good and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Great value 'all day breakfast!' and the french toast is yummy too! If I'm in the Portobello area, I always pop in. There's a seating area outside too, if the weather's ok, however, they have a canopy if it rains.

This café is in Bath Street just off the Portobello promenade. Being slightly off the seafront means it tends to be less busy than those nearer the beach. That is why we sought it out and there had been a recent good review in the Edinburgh Evening News. Please note that this place does NOT take card payments. You need to take cash and this condition is prominently displayed but when we were there a customer offered to pay by card which was politely declined. The customer was directed to an ATM at the top of the road. The food is tasty and very good value. We will be returning soon as it offers quality food at reasonable prices compared to some of the cafés on the front.

Really nice place, good food with friendly staff, the only let down is that the physical menu isn't the nicest looking or the clearest, there's loads of options but not written on the menu so you have to ask, but don't let that turn you off as the food there is tasty and comes as nice size portions at reasonable prices.

(Translated) A local restaurant I stopped by after coming to Portobello Beach with my dog❤️👍 Inside, the grandmothers were chatting over brunch, and the seats outside were quiet, so we ate haggis in the sunlight and had a cold beer with the groom! Crispy on the outside and slightly spicy on the inside, I ate two plates of delicious fried haggis on the spot. The lentil bacon soup and bread were delicious and healthy!! The chef is also very kind, and next time we come, we will try a delicious cheesecake dessert. I went to this place on my way to the Portobello beach with my two lovely dogs. My hubby and I loved the food, especially the Haggis fritters for lunch! 👍 Highly recommend! The Haggis was the best I ever tasted (the food was much better than London) so I came inside to thank the chef and she was so friendly as well as other staffs. Everyone made me feel like I'm at my sister's place.
