A really nice laid back atmosphere and friendly staff.

My sister and I went for vintage afternoon tea, which is no different from normal afternoon tea, which was very nice but whoever made the sandwiches forgot to spread the fillings to the edge of the bread, I hate eating dry bread. The waitress was lovely and very helpful. The man behind the bar was very laid back I asked for a portion of butter, and it took a wee while to get to me and he said something in another language and pointed at me really!! We enjoyed it the last time we were there but won't be rushing back.

Itchycoo is a friendly, modern place that serves a broad range of drinks and dishes. The staff have been friendly in my experiencing and provide sound recommendations. The noise can be a bit loud but it is a nice place for a casual drink with friends. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

I went with a friend for afternoon tea at Itchycoo, and it was fantastic with not only good cakes but also with cocktails, instead of tea! The cocktail list was lovely, and I couldn't decide between the Death by Chocolate or the Espresso Martini. The waiter helped me decide on the Death by Chocolate cocktail - it was fabulous, rich and decadent and definitely fit what I was looking for!
After the cocktails arrived, our cake tower was paraded out to us. It was a beautiful array and selection. I think it's a general feature that the sandwiches at an afternoon tea are usually a let-down. The vegetarian versions we had were fine, but nothing stood out. We then moved on to the scone tier. The scones were tasty, but could have been a bit more fluffy and fresh. Itchycoo did very well with the cakes, though, which are always meant to steal the show anyway (let's face it). We had a banoffee pie, a fruit pie, meringues and carrot cake. I liked them in that order, too, with the meringues and the carrot cake both being fabulous. I was a tad disappointed that there was nothing chocolate included in the cake range, but then again my Death by Chocolate cocktail helped make up for that!
The ambiance and decor was great, and it was fantastic and laid-back so we enjoyed staying on for several hours and chatting.

We were lucky enough to be asked to eat here as a friend is an Edinburgh foodie blogger. We arrived to be greeted by a friendly waitress who was knowledgeable about the menu and answered our questions happily.
I choose the soft shell crab for a starter as it's unusual to see this on a menu and after two years living in Asia I miss this dish. My dining companion chose the veal escalope. The starters came promptly and we tucked in with gusto. The soft shell crab could of been more crispy for me and the veal could of done with a slice of lemon or something to lift it, so we were a little disappointed with them.
The mains however were bang on, the chicken stuffed with haggis wrapped in ham was tasty and satisfying. The pork belly with air bags caused much hilarity as the air bags were a sprinkling of cheesy popcorn! This was very unusual and whilst it didn't work at all for my dining companion I thought they really have the dish a crunch. So the popcorn was promptly all flicked into my plate! Caught in the act by the waitress she found this very amusing!
The desserts were heavenly and I had a smorgasbord of chocolate milkshake served in a little expresso cup, a mini ice cream cone and a white chocolate blancmange. The cheese board was very generous and we had a lovely ruby port to accompany it.
Overall it was a lovely meal, but we both commented it's hard to get away from the fact this is a hotel restaurant. And with so many lovely destination restaurants on the Royal Mile it's a hard task to build a local clientele. But if you want to try something different in quiet relaxed surroundings this is worth a shot.

Lovely cocktails. Thoroughly recommend having tasted two of them Hic

Beautiful bar let down by its place within an international hotel brand.
Wine served in standard wine glasses, similar to other national chains. Service good, but nicer bars nearby.

Itchycoo Bar, not to be confused with Itchycoo Park, serve up cracking cocktails and have a menu which will no doubt appeal to everybody.
On our visit we thought that the salmon was sublime and the chicken and mango salad was scrumptious. We left feeling incredibly satisfied and made plans to re-visit during the Fringe as an escape from all the chaos (if possible).
You can't beat the location, half way up (or down) the Royal Mile, making it the perfect place to grab a bite no matter which direction you're heading in.

Decent hotel bar/restaurant. Only serving patrons of the hotel currently due to Covid restrictions

Itchycoo is a restaurant bar with a new food menu that focuses on fresh local produce. We started with deep-fried softshell crab and a mixed salad (featuring dried cranberries, walnuts, and blue cheese). For mains (which we both particularly enjoyed) it was pan fried sea bass and rump of lamb. Dessert was a dark chocolate tartlet and something called "munch" (which turned out to be many little tasty desserty things on a plate).
Many items on the menu can be ordered as either main or starter portions, which I thought was a lovely idea. I ended up having 2 starter-sized portions (for both courses), and it was more than enough to fill me up.
Oh, and they have a lot of cocktails. The cocktails, which are well-done classics for the most part, are about average-priced for the city. I've tried several, and I think the raspberry mojito is my favorite so far.
Service was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, if a tad slow at times.
Disappointments:
1) None of the vegetarian mains looked particularly exciting (though to be fair, I haven't tried them - perhaps they are absolutely thrilling to eat).
2) No local beers on tap. Would love to see these added someday - I could definitely see us spending a sunny afternoon at one of their outdoor tables on the Royal Mile sipping beer and people-watching.

We went to the Ichycoo bar for diner on a saturday night. The place is nice, cosy and modern (I like the cow skin on the back wall, it looks real even if it is only a wall paper ;)).
The service is detailed oriented and I like that they propose you their favourite items on the menu.
We order a 3 course diner with the soft shell crab and the king prawn and salmon for starter, the ribeye and pork belly for the mains and the dark chocolate tart and and the praline. I have to be honest, the food was ok but for the price, I thought there will be a wow factor. It was quite regular and there were some few cooking mistakes (pork belly served without crackelin?)
The wine was great. We ordered the Shiraz from the Barossa region in Australia and loved it.
Overall a nice diner but the cuisine is not up to my expectations

Really good burgers and friendly staff. Much calmer than the pubs on the other side of the street. A bit cold sitting directly under an airconditioner, bring a scarf. Really recommend it!!!
