Reviews of Paradise Palms
T. W.
Really liked this place! It has good cocktails and local beers.
The food is great too!
I feel its a pop up kitchen as you order food from a QR code on the table via a website.
All the food is vegan but you can add dairy cheese if you want.
Couple of down sides. If you get seated in the main middle room the seats and tables are far too small. I'm 5 foot 7 and struggled to fit in the space provided.
Service was a bit slow and the table wasn't ready for 20mins but this was on a Saturday night but none of this really impacted on a great night.
S.
A cool and quirky place with tasty burgers and lots of drinks to choose from. I don't know if others have experienced this or if we just missed it, but we didn't realize fries were included with the burgers... so we ordered both burgers and a dirty fries each. Which was a lot of food! 😂 But everything was delicious.
D. M.
Ordered a lucky chicken burger and a rib sandwich with a side of slaw and fries salted with cheese.
Both burgers were delicious and the slaw was pretty good.
The fries were dry and unsalted with burnt/ dry cheese on top (would pass on these)
Burgers on point!
A. M. D.
Really cool place and atmosphere! Amazing vegan food - very very big portions! Be warned! Don't let your eyes make you order all the food: you won't be able to finish it! My favourites were the buffalo cauliflower and the Mac and cheese! So so good! My partner preferred the dirty chili fries.
R. J. E.
To be honest, a moving mountains burger would have been better than the chicken option. The service was very slow - we always had to ask to get served. Great vibe, good cocktails.
A. H.
Really good, hearty food and extensive drinks selection. It’s unusual to find more substantial food and BBQ style food that is vegetarian/vegan, and was really impressed with their renditions. The buffalo cauliflower in particular is delicious - though tastes more similar to orange chicken. Was a little on the expensive end of food/drinks, but given the unique setting and the creativity put into their menu I would say it’s definitely worth it.
K.
This place easily has some of the best food in Edinburgh! I loved being able to order a buckfast cocktail, that is definitely a first for me! All I would say is that I wish it was 100% vegan but I love that default setting is vegan and you have to ask for this to be made with dairy. I will be going back every time I visit Edinburgh
V. C.
Great vegan restaurant! The mains are on the larger side, so if you eat a lot, you’re in luck.
Food took a long time to arrive, but I think it’s bad luck on the day we went.
Overall, I recommend this place to vegans and non-vegans!
R. C.
BANGING place! Decoration is great, the lighting makes the while vibe go up... Cocktails were tasty and the food comes in huge portions and is very good. It's always nice to not have to worry about what's vegan, but as a pescatarian I appreciated the option to get dairy cheese 😁 will defo bring veggie friends there when they visit.
J. D.
Great vibe and strong tasty cocktails. It was great to see so many female staff members and managers running a venue too! Am hoping to come back for a drag show or event soon. A really good place to have a night out with friends.
C.
Can't believe this place is all vegetarian! Food was really good and pretty filling. The inside is quirky and fun and feels very comfortable to be at. The drink selection is good though I didn't see any mocktails currently on the menu. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower and the bbq platter. The Buffalo cauliflower was incredible and felt like eating light boneless wings. The sauce on it tasted closer to orange chicken though. The BBQ plate imitated bbq meat dishes but tastes great as it's own dish. Overall great vibes and would go to try vegetarian imitations of southern dishes.

This place is just phenomenal, very forward thinking bar right in the heart of Edinburgh, the interior decor is what you will consider weird in a good way, you will be lost in thought trying to figure out what is going on 🙂. I will say it is most LGBT friendly, food menu seems great though i didn't get to taste the food. They have a huge selection of drinks. The bar is situated around the Edinburgh University and it is a good place for students and tourists alike. The bar has both indoor and outdoor sitting.
D. M.
Lovely staff and amazing vegan junk food, perfect for a night out drinking. The ribs were incredible, just wish you could order them in different combinations. Only slight negative was that the drinks was quite slow (about 20 mins) but maybe it was just busier than expected. Overall a great time!
T. M.
The food was very good.
The reason I give 3 stars only :
-You have to order your food online, you don't have the option to customise your food.
- Communal bathroom.
-Cigarette smoke from outside
L. W.
Gorgeous vegan food with a decent cocktail menu. Fun decor and friendly staff.
J. J.
Really nice drinks, loved the buffalo cauliflower! Got a free birthday drink which was super nice!! 🥳
A. H.
Very friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Delicious vegan food - the box with the vegan ribs and chicken was a great portion size - I had to take some home with me in a takeaway box. Would recommend!
F. L. J.
Outstanding vegan restaurant. You wouldn't believe it is vegan at all.
J. O.
Nice and friendly ambiance! Great music selection! The best piña colada I had in my life.
C. M.
Food was wonderful. So many great flavors and a great choice. Service was meh. At best
P. M.
Came to paradise palms as they have vegan cocktails. I ordered a buckfast Daiquiri and vegan pina colada which were both very nice. Staff were friendly,I would come here again.
L. D. (. A.
What a fun and eccentric place. The decor is mad but amazing, the music they play and create is really special and my favourite thing is their restaurant - the luckily pig. Such SUCH good food.
J. P.
Came for food Sunday evening after not being able to get a seat on Saturday as it was full, and now I can see why!
The place has a great atmosphere, staff were so friendly, the food was unbelievable and the portions sizes were healthy! The drinks were pretty decent too!
We had 2 of the bbq platters, expecting the potions sizes to be relatively small considering it was only £13.50, We ordered 2 extra sides.
We couldn't finish it all but the food was so nice!
Would highly recommended this place! But make sure you book because understanbly, it fills up quickly😂
D. M.
This restaurant had great food and service. I had the vegetarian burger and it was amazing, it tasted just like a regular burger. Has a great vibe and the perfect place to have dinner with friends.
J. S.
Amazing! Great for foodies.
We tried the Mac and Cheese, BBQ burger, loaded chilli chips, cauliflower and frickles.
Recommend the cocktails too, especially the Bramble and Belafonte.
G. M.
I've been to Palms a few times over the years, but only dined there recently. The food was incredible and even as an omnivore and card-carrying meat-lover I'd definitely come back for more of their vegan offerings. The wait-staff and doorman were friendly and helpful, the service was quick, and Palms use technology to allow you to order and pay from your table via a smartphone, which makes for a great dining experience. Plus... tunes galore! 😂
G. B.
The food was great! I got the BBQ platter and the seitan steak was delicious! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Whole menu is vegan
B. B.
Given this is all veggie food I applaud them. The chilli cheese fries were delicious. The southern friend seitan was nice but I have had better seitan - this tasted a bit stuffing like perhaps because of all the herbs in the batter mix. The portion sizes are big, atmosphere was fun and lively even during the day
V. D.
Anyone that thinks vegan/vegetarian food is bland and tasteless needs to eat here. Great flavors and textures, well prepared, excellent service in a funky/cool atmosphere, nifty place to hangout. Their white Russian rocks, never had one with nutmeg, delicious!
M. K.
Delicious vegan and vegetarian food, very nice comfort food, good drinks. Atmosphere is really nice. I can't recommend it enough 💖😍
K. T.
Wow this place is a bonkers!! Amazing little find for veggie and vegan lovers the food menu is off the hook. Staff are really helpful and super friendly the lovely waitress even wrote out her top vegan places list to eat out in Edinburgh.
You must go!!!! Cocktails are great too.
P. K.
Delicious food in a quirky relaxed atmosphere, lovely staff and prompt service. Just need to state fries come with burgers on the menu as ordered extra sides of fries through the QR code when it wasn’t needed.
V. L.
Fun place with lovely and filling vegan food! The whole menu is 100% plant based. The decor is quite unique, staff is very friendly.
Portions are big!
C. L.
My girlfriend and I aren't vegetarians, but the menu looked delicious so we wanted to check it out. First of all the place is decorated beautifully. Food was on point and the beer selection was great. I feel bad we can't remember our server's name (blonde), but she was very kind and helpful. Will recommend it to anyone I know visiting Edinburgh!
L. C.
If there were 10 stars they would get 11. From the minute we walked in the door to the minute we left we were made to feel welcome. We ordered Piña Coladas, Vegan burger, Cauliflower Bites, Chips and Nachos (Yes there was only two of us). They were overly accommodating with our dietary requirement which made us feel normal. Really great atmosphere, décor was quirky and well thought out, it was great! The only problem is to get there we have to drive 2 hours in the car and a flight from London! 😂 Thank you so much we had a wonderful one week wedding anniversary thanks to this bunch of lovely people.
L. F.
The best vegan food I've had. Dirty but doesn't leave you feeling sick. Espresso martini perfectly balanced. Service was surprisingly fast given how busy it was. Very relaxed vibe and highly recommend. A must, if you're in Edinburgh.
J. C.
Alot of choice on the menu and we did order alot, all of which was fantastic. Will definitely be back to try the little we didn't order today! Great service all round.
L. J.
Really good vegetarian food, good service. The decor of whole place was a bit cluttered and chaotic for my taste. The first time we tried to visit there were no tables available and it was very crowded and noisy. The pinball machine was especially noisy, right next to the door. On our second visit, when we actually ate there, it was much calmer. The "fish" burger could have been a bit firmer for my taste. The sides were the star of the show, especially the collard greens (which was just as much collards as broccoli) and the buffalo cauliflower. All in all, really enjoyable vegetarian comfort food.
P. D.
This place comes down to your taste.
Although,personally I liked it.
Bit of a uni bar with a vegetarian menu, but the place is latex back, the music is cool and the staff are friendly.
Don’t expect anything ultra hip... but I wouldn’t want that. Just an honest bar with some quirky furniture and a younger, artier crowd
J. B.
We’ve eaten here loads of times and the food is great but the recent price changes make it a struggle to justify.
A burger with all of the sides will run you almost £20.00, prices on the app are different to the menu on the website currently.
J. S.
This place is absolutely fantastic I’ve never been to a restaurant/bar like this one. The food was absolutely gorgeous, best I’ve had in Edinburgh and there was a fabulous show going on as we arrived! We were able to get a sneak peak while we waited for our food and I must say they looked like they were having so much fun it was very enjoyable to watch! Table service was a little bit slow but we didn’t mind as we were occupied and entertained while we waited! Will definitely be back here during my next stay in Edinburgh.
C.
Delicious appetizers (cauliflower in buffalo sauce) and reasonably priced drinks. However the special “broccoli tacos” wasn’t filling at all and for the price of about 7 quid it was overpriced for the portion.
The wait staff was excellent and very attentive. We had one in particular who was very kind and quick. Would recommend others to visit overall.
l.
Super yummy, shared two of the burgers and loved them both!! Easy online ordering and all veggie/vegan, ideal 😎😋😋
A. S.
Went here after a lil walk up Arthur's Seat, got the vegan munchie box which for £13 is super reasonable seeing how much we got. Didn't love the food as felt the seitan kebab, cauliflower wings and seitan chicken wings needed more flavour and spice. However the deep fried pickles were absolutely amazing, would get it again just for them.
A.
A vegetarians paradise!
I absolutely loved the food here!I heard so much buzz from this place over the years and although it is right next door to the Edinburgh Uni main campus, I only managed to go recently, but I will definitely be going back soon.
Everything on the menu is vegetarian and a lot of options can be made vegan too! I recommend the dirty fries, but I need to try a few more things because it was so tasty! Really good price for what you get as well :P
The staff were really friendly and super helpful. I loved all the wacky decor that they had on the walls especially the ceiling of teddy bears above the bar. If in Edinburgh definitely check this place out :)
D. M.
Not the first time we've been here and won't be the last. Delicious vegetarian food in a quirky restaurant with friendly staff. The "meatballs" were a particularly pleasant surprise, would definitely recommend. My only disappointment was that they've stopped selling their tropical bitter which I quite enjoyed last time. Will be back!
B. B.
Amazing atmosphere and delicious food!
The many options for gluten free & vegan were wonderful. The cocktails are fabulous and I can’t wait for my next visit.
The nachos are HUGE and awesome.
E. N.
Amazing vegan food. They have lots to choose from. Great place to eat, Highly recommend. Great service.
L. R.
I'm sitting on the chair contemplating life, after having had the best burger in the whole UK, wondering how will I eat anything else after this experience. Honestly, the food is exceptional, worth travelling from anywhere to try it.
A. G.
The stuffed animals are what first caught my eye at Paradise Palms, they line the ceiling, probably close to 100 of the fluffy creatures. It's a good mix here between lively and chill, at least on a Thursday night. I found it to be a younger crowd, 20's and 30's. Some good booth style setting for groups.
J. L.
Amazing place. Interior design is super cool and good food and drinks. Staff could be a bit more attentive but I wasn't in a hurry. :P
J. N.
The most amazing vegan and vegetarian food I have devoured. Portions where of good size and the atmosphere was fantastic. I'll be returning soon 🙂
E. R.
Lovely atmosphere ,friendly staff yummy food. Only difficulty was ordering online using the app but that's because I'm a bit rubbish at technology. I did manage it in the end Yeah for me......
D. K.
Great vegan meals and cocktails. Our carnivore guest even rated the burger as one of the best irrespective of whether an animal suffered. Friendly staff in a relaxed atmosphere.
B. C.
My go-to place to eat out, I drag all my friends here when they visit. And they’re always grateful afterwards :)
S. E. E.
Wow!!!
Vegan food at its finest and amazing, fun drinks! Yes they are expensive but they are made with such amazing ingredients and love! Can't wait to return soon! The decor is just sublime also. Great atmosphere! Loved everything about it. Would highly recommend
K. E.
My friend visited and recommended it for the range of vegan food available. Myself to and my partner arrived around for late dinner. It was quite busy but it was a Friday night. The service was ok but we did get forgot about for 30mins before ordering drinks. The aesthetic is amazingly quirky and fun.
I would definitely visit again. For both cocktails and food.
G. J.
Great Little bar/restaurant! Great interior and great food and cocktails!. Tables were kinda low down, so made leaning over eating a burger and chips troublesome but otherwise a great location.
S. E.
VERY nice staff and the burger was sooo delicious!! Vegan food heaven! ❤️ I'll definitely visit you again, when I'm back in Edinburgh!!
J. B.
came in for the free fairy lights, stayed in for the free leftovers I scavenged from other people’s tables when they weren’t looking. I got slapped twice but it was worth it. If you are bereft of food or drink this is the place for you.
C. M.
My girlfriend and I visited Paradise Palms in June as we were attempting to find vegetarian eateries for myself. The food was full of flavour which we both adored, as well as the cocktails being relatively value for money as well as tasty. The environment was super amicable and friendly. The staff were amazing with us as well when we accidentally had duplicate orders due to online ordering by offering us a full refund (which was unexpected due it being our mistake) and were able to rectify the situation quickly. Thank you!
I. B.
Delicious vegan food and cocktails. The staff were friendly and approachable. Dog friendly!
C. A.
This place is super trendy and can get really busy during lunch dinner. Be prepared to wait since it's smallish.
The food is all amazing, but the staff is pretty inattentive so you're going to be waiting awhile for everything. It's worth the wait.
J. H.
Absolutely awesome venue! Great vegan food.
Staff were very friendly and approachable.
Food was served in a timely manner and taste great.
We are vegans and this place was easy to find.
They offer discounts for students too.
V. V.
We had such a good time. Food was absolutely amazing!!! Loved it! So easy to be vegan there <3 and staff are super friendly and cool. 5 out of 5 xoxo
I. G. (.
Went for a wedding reception here. It was such a fun venue for it. Nice crowd, great staff, excellent atmosphere.
A. D.
The best vegan/veggie food I have ever eaten. Great decor and staff. If I didn't live in cornwall I'd be a regular
M. C.
"the best pina colada I've ever had" - my fiancée
C. F.
Vegan people; come, eat, drink, be happy. This place serves the best, "vegan soul food". Absolutely fantastic and the service was 5 Stars alone! Eat the Po'boy; delicious!
M. D.
Great spot delicious food, good drink selection. Rock n roll bogs. Defo check this place out. Yumma :)
D. P.
Meat eaters who complain that veggie food isn't filling should come here. The portions are huge. Really good value for money.
A. W.
Nice vegetarian restaurant. Lots of seats. Was fine for our order but it got a bit busy and would say probably understaffed for a Sunday as only one guy taking orders and behind the bar. Very interesting decor and good food. My gf had the bean chilli that she really liked. I had seitan and thought the bites were a bit too big and not the best seitan I've had. Was quite expensive for what you get. Maybe needs to be a bit cheaper and a few more options. All in all would recommend but few things to change before we visit again.
R. W.
Definitely one of my favs in the city. Friendly staff, veggie and vegan comfort food, chilled surroundings
D. B.
Didn’t try the food but what an awesome place for drinks!
Fabulous cocktails (loved the Zombie) such cool and chill atmosphere and the food looked so good that if I had more time I would go back to try it.
Also friendly staff :)
When I come back to Edinburgh this is gonna be a sure stop, all the cocktails looked awesome!
E. K.
Cool interior with amazing cocktails and food. We came back twice! Be aware that their kitchen isn’t open all night but we were still able to get our food order in.
Vegan and vegetarian friendly
K. S.
Loved the vegan food. Not all of it is vegan though but at least they don't serve meat :)
E. M.
Great place, love the aesthetics, friendly staff gender neutral toilets! :)
W. o. F.
I love this place from deco, staff and drinks. The bartender Sam was so helpful and made some epic cocktails that were not on the menu as well.
A. B.
A really great selection of vegetarian/vegan food that is generally too labor intensive to make at home. The concept is based on soul food, po-boys and fried seitan nuggets being very obviously American South inspired. We shared the burger, jackfruit tostadas, and southern fried seitan.
My personal favourite were the tostadas; they definitely looked kind of like carnitas tacos but the jackfruit texture was much much more tender and almost melted in my mouth. The burger was not as chewy as I expected, and the fried seitan kind of felt like eating deep friend bread? They were definitely tasty! Not exactly a substitute for meat-eaters out there, but if you're vegan and craving this specific kind of food, it definitely hits the spot.
The service was fine, I personally did not experience any issue and our server wad very nice about giving us recommendations. Food came up pretty quick too, although it was not very busy either. I would definitely go again!
H. M.
The food is amazing. Fabulous vegetarian dishes that are really hard to tell apart from their meaty counterparts. Love the decor too. And the drinks. Everything.
U. A.
If you’re after some Vegan/Vegetarian food whilst in Edinburgh, make sure to visit Paradise Palms! We came around 6.15pm on December 28th so it was still quite busy, but we were lucky enough to get a table straight away. Their drink menu is massive, with lots of options for vegan cocktails. I opted for a Piña Colada which was served in a fun Tiki glass
For food, we ordered 2 portions of nachos, Seitan Fillets, A bean burger (topped with chilli), and a portion of Fully Loaded Fries. Believe me when I say, our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. The portions were absolutely massive! We couldn’t finish the nachos, but luckily the staff can package your left overs to take home.
Everything from the decor, the food and most importantly the staff make it completely understandable why this place is so busy and why you may have to wait a while, but it is so worth it!
A. N.
Well worth a visit. Superb atmosphere, staff and creative hub for many of Edinburghs musicians and artists.
E. R.
Best vegan food in town with really nice seating options. One time I was sat out in the sun , another I was in a cushioned and cozy backroom with some cool red lighting. So good I still go after I stopped being vegan.
J. D.
Wow what a emotional rollercoaster. The first cocktail I ordered was supposed to be sweet and fruity according to the waiter but turned out to be neither (sour and bitter at best). After I complained the waiter told me that there was nothing he could do about it and it should be sweet (as if it's my fault for not liking it). After I asked another waiter for the bill she told me they would make me another cocktail on the house if i'd like to try, which turned out super nice. Otherwise nice atmosphere. Only one toilet out of four worked though.
S.
Didn't realize it was fully egan before going ( I am vegan/veggie) but omg the food was so delicious and our server was lovely :)
C. L.
Such a lovely quirky place. We only came for drinks, which I have to say were great. The rum punch was really strong, I’m used to watered down fruity cocktails so this was definitely worth the money. We wanted to go again for the food but sadly they were booked. The next time I am in Edinburgh I will definitely be back.
_.
Such a unique restaurant/and bar that caters towards those with dietary restrictions immensely. Also jackfruit fries and sour beer were to die for!
Love from another Canadian!
M. B.
The food and drinks here were unreal! Great atmosphere and friendly staff too 👍 will definitely be visiting again
D. F. P.
The place has always been good. However, it has lost a bit of its essence taking the dancefloor down and setting up tables instead. Obviously, this is not their fault, but new Covid restrictions'.
Anyway, nice place for a pre-drink before going clubbing
J. G.
Nice vegan comfort food. Good beer. Wait was a bit on the long side. Hence only 4 stars. Still recommended.
C. B.
Very cool bar in the centre of Edinburgh. More for young people
J. F.
Incredible food, amazing rum selection, great atmosphere, and friendly staff.
S. T.
Possibly our favourite place to eat/drink in Edinburgh. Quirky, niche, relaxed with an impressive drinks and food menu, definitely something a bit different, in the best way possible.
T.
I didn't even know this place was entirely vegetarian/vegan until I looked at the menu and tried to spot the vegan options! I had the Lucky Nachos with three been chilli, which were delicious, especially the guacamole. The fries were beyond tasty, I only wish I had gotten some aioli with them. Also shockingly amazing where the cocktails! We had a delicious Sloe Gin Fizz and a Lady Garden, and I'd say it's worth coming back, even just for the cocktails!
W. P.
amazing place! perfect atmosphere, great drinks selection, always tasty vegan food! at the moment, they also provide easy to use app for making orders! will definitely come back each time i’m in edinburgh!
F. M.
Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurant and Bar. Great plate of food at sensible price. Friendly service. Exotoc surroundings. I'll be back
S. D.
Very nice place. Super friendly and helpful staff and tasty food. It was our very first vegan food experience but we will definitely come back for more!
J. J.
Superfriendly, funny staff, food was delicious and HotToddy? lovely warm drink, would drink a pint. Young atmosphere and cool interior as well exterior.
S. S.
Great cocktails and dining options. Do not expect to hold a conversation in this place after 9pm , the music is too loud for no reason at all.
N. B.
Superb food, and they make some mean cocktails.
a.
Great vegan and veggie food at reasonable prices, good beer, interesting decor theme, very chill atmosphere.
The vast majority of the menu is vegan, with a couple of veggie options, with a decidedly Caribbean twist. Not your usual falafel and hummus wraps here. Oh no. Pulled BBQ jackfruit nachos, sweet potato chilli, southern fried halloumi. And all of it very tasty. Spicy, but not hot, rather flavourful. An absolute breath of fresh air in a world of bean burgers.
The decor is a cross between 70s soul and 20s chic. The music predominantly soul. Very chilled, very smooth.
The service was top notch, and while it was a small thing I liked that we got a jug of water when we sat down. Also loved the pineapple in my house bitter.
Y. W.
Very nice atmosphere but a bit expensive for the amount of drink you get. Bus if your a student there are good discounts.
D. S.
Awesome place for a drink or food. Great vibe and cool deco throughout. The place offers great Vegan and veggie food.
K. H.
Great little veggie/vegan restaurant. Laid back atmosphere and lovely food. Relaxed and comfortable. We enjoyed ourselves!
A. H.
Excellent food, groovy atmosphere, reasonable prices.
H. P.
The food was epic!!!! We had the Mac and Cheese and the Dirty Chipotle fries and the potato salad. All of them were some of the best we've tried! The service was excellent too. The food came very fast!
M. W.
This was the best service experience I have had since being in Scotland. To the Australian waitress- 10/10! You made what was already a great experience even better. Will defintiley return
I. C.
Decent food (all vegetarian). A very good selection of drinks and cocktails. Always very busy so service can be quite slow.
A. D.
wonderful atmosphere and very good food! i would suggest to change a bit the hot dog tho, in particular the sauces, in order to make it more similar to the non-vegan one. i’d love to come back!
M. P.
Great vegan and veggie food. We had the chipotle Mac and cheese, buffalo cauliflower, cheesy chips and the BBQ platter which had southern fried ‘chicken’, sticky ‘ribs’, coleslaw, fried pickles (oh my god!) and potato salad. I don’t know what they did to the sticky ribs but I would happily eat them for the rest of my life!
Staff were friendly, venue was very covid secure and the drinks were nice too.
Definitely not one to miss!
D. R.
Amazing food, both vegan and vegetarian options. Would advise to book as even on a Thursday afternoon around 4/5pm we had to sit outside. Would visit again!
B. W.
Top quality service I felt like I was welcomed as a family. The food was epic! The place has very nice vibes about it. Highly recommend!
F. E.
Such a nice place, nice mocktails and the fried pickles, amazing!
Z. K.
The best night in Edinburgh hands down!
It's my happy place.
Lovely staff and great tuuuuuunes.
Can't wait to get back!
J. S.
Deliciously flavourful vegan food done right and a great service staff. I was very impressed with my visit.
I. B.
Best vegan burger I've ever had and a wide array of cocktails!
J. G.
Amazing vegan food. Im not vegan but completely forgot the food wasnt vegan half way through. The prices are also really good!
B. C.
This place is so freaking good! Staff friendly and chatty, food unreal. Go for the chilli loaded fries... you won’t be disappointed!
S. P.
Lovely atmosphere. The max and cheese was so good!
K. B.
Fun place and creative ambiance. The staff are extremely nice and helpful. I also like that they are open before most pubs in the area.
A. R.
Delicious vegan food, excellent atmosphere, very good service!
Is a must if you are in Edinburgh. This place has everything!
V. H.
Understandably there seemed to be reduce menu but still plenty to choose from and after a couple of (must try) buckfast daiquiri had forgotten what I meant to go there for. The absolute winner for me was the attentive/no intrusive friendly staff.
B. R.
Great loaded fries with lots of flavour and brilliant service. Only marked down to 4 as they lacked a bit of variance in texture
S. M.

Amazing food and cocktails, love the vibe inside 10/10

Oh my goodness, where do I start!
This place has redefined my star giving because it deserves 6stars and means I really should edit a few, places and remove the odd star. But ehhh, who has the time and they were given fairly according to my experiences thus far. (yes I said thus far.)
The food was vegitastic awesome. Any meatatarian would be pleasantly surprised as they wouldn't leave feeling like they missed out on a good feed up.
Grab your someone someone and head on over there, you are missing out on a real treat if you have not sampled their menu.
In other news the drinks were fine and the service friendly and warm. Due to covid it wasn't as personal as I'm sure it usually is, but they were helpful and did ask if everything was fine... It was more than fine it was awesome.

I have never had nicer food in my 24 years on this earth I will never be the same again
A. C.
Food is always fantastic here! Definitely recommend.
H. K.
Generous portions of tasty veggie and vegan junk food, with loads of options. Lots of seitan on the menu, the seitan meatballs were good, but I wasn't too impressed with the Southern fried seitan. A good selection of cocktails available too, and everything is reasonably priced.

Beautiful place with a great vibe. The dirty fries are delicious! All table service and order via your phone so service is super quick.
P. E.
Yum! The staff were very friendly, the food was delicious, and lots of options. Some of the cocktails were a wee bit expensive, but overall good! The burger was great, the Mac and cheese was very very rich and so I would probably suggest ordering to share or getting a small size.
Fries were very good! Tables were a bit squished together. Lots of cool music and that kind of thing.
L. E.
On arrival at the restaurant we were met with cheerful, kind & friendly staff. Lovely varied choice from the menu. Our various meals and drinks were all excellent quality and the service throughout was top class! Highly recommended!
F. S.
Wonderful vegetarian / vegan restaurant! You can have most of the vegetarian options in vegan as well, you can decide when you order it. The food was delicious, I had the nachos. Friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere with all the plants.mwide range of cocktails to choose. They have gender neutral toilets (urinal and toilets separated). I really do like the idea of it.
M. B.
Best veggie/vegan burgers in Edinburgh!! And the BBQ cauliflower also was amazing. Cocktails are a bit expensive but very tasty.
M. a. H. T.
Tring to be something it's not. Should really focus on a variety of vegetarian foods, rather than being a meat burger joint alternative. However, nice environment and the food was OK if not a tad expensive for the portion sizes.
A. W.
There's always a nice bit of buzz in here and plenty to drink. Food is served too.. the decor is a bit busy for some tastes but staff are decent.
T. T.
Chilli bowl and Pina Colada were our favorites, also has rly nice cozy vibes inside
S. G.
One of the best vegan spots in Edinburgh 🌟♥️
K. S.
Nachos and Mac n cheese were fantastic. Funky, unique and a must while in Edinburgh.
D. G.
Good selection of beers and cocktails and staff were nice
r. m.
Loved this place. Vibe and decor was nice. Excellent food as well!
J. B.
Sweet bar, excellent music, good vegetarian options. The staff are great. More dancing would be great!
L. H.
The place is incredibly colourful and vibrant. A great atmosphere all around! The food was also very good, with plenty of options for vegans. Sadly, the service let it down. It felt like the waitress did not want to be there and did not want us to give her any more work. I wanted some drinks and sauces on a couple of occasions, but she would only appear in the eating area when serving food, and would immediately leave whilst (what felt like) avoiding eye contact. Only a minor problem though.
D. M.
Excellent vegan soul food served in a really nice setting.
We visited on a Tuesday lunchtime and the place was quite busy and as a group of three veggies and a vegan it was lovely being able to order anything off the menu. For my partner who is vegan it was even nicer that nearly every dish has a vegan alternative to cheese and that the server pointed it out (even the burger roll).
We had the to-fish burger, the southern fried halloumi and the meatballs and gravy dirty fries. They were all excellent (although I'm sure I gained half a stone in weight just looking at them).
Good place highly recommended.
F. R.
The food, drinks and vibes are on point. Definitely get the buffalo cauliflower! It's a thing of beauty and I'd go just for that but I'll also take any of the cocktails anyday!
D. H.
We absolutely love the food here and have been several times before but on this occasion it wasn't the best. The food was delicious as always no issues there. However we initially tried to book over the phone for 5 of us for my boyfriend's birthday and were told parties of 6 booking only, that's fine. When we arrived there were only 3 of us in the end but there were two booths free and my boyfriend had a big birthday badge on. We were however seated at a small table for 4, fine we figured the booths were booked but then a group of 3 walked straight in and sat themselves at one of the booths. There were no questions asked of them and they were allowed to stay in the booth. Throughout of meal the other booth remained empty. We didn't feel like we could ask the staff to move us as they were very busy however the fact that we weren't even offered that space in the first place with a birthday boy in tow did put a dampener on things. We had our meals and left to get drinks elsewhere as at this point we were a bit soured by the experience. Not the same atmosphere and service during the evening (Monday) it seems which is a shame for such an awesome place.
J. M.
Great food and drinks and unique decor
S. W.
The food here is so good I had to order a second and third main course!
Everything is veggie and a huge range of vegan options too, alongside a diverse and interesting drinks menu makes for a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Additionally staff are friendly and attentive and the décor is pretty interesting. I would highly recommend to anyone!
A. R.
Loved it. Really quirky place, with quirky people. The decor is great, there's teddies hanging off the ceiling and old cameras, mannequins with cool outfits on. Really different and the drinks were good too. The music was excellent, would be good if there was a dance floor actually but it's quite small so probably not enough space for one. People just dance where they can. It's a really cool place, one of my favourites in Edinburgh.
E. W.
Absolute divine cocktails! Wow! Atmosphere is also so much fun, will recommend to anyone who heads to Edinburgh😍
C. M.
Nice wee place with some nice Vegan grub, we didn't book and were very lucky to get a table. Nice staff and most of the food was good, only thing I would say was the fries with non meat meatballs needed to have more fries there was hardly any there and we likes the fries!! Also we are not fans of the seitan fried chicken tried it a few times in different places and we want to like it but it never lives up to the expectations. Like I said rest of the grub was great and worth a visit.
A. D.
I introduced a few of my friends to vegetarianism there. The food is fantastic!
Moreover, this place is great for a night out, they serve good cocktails and play some nice disco house music. However it is quite small and tend to be quite crowded...
M. M.
This place was just amazing! Awesome place, nice service and the food was delicious! It's worth going to Edinburgh just for the food
M. A.
Go for the cocktails if you can. Great LGBT+ friendly place. Loved the vibe.
K.
The vegetarian/vegan food served is tasty. We had the jackfruit loaded fries which were quite a big portion- definitely a meal on its own- and a burger. The vegan burger came with a small coleslaw on the side and no fries. The burger was okay, but quite tough - there was lots of contrasting flavours. Visited during the Fringe and the place is always busy - due to good food and cocktails and atmosphere most likely. But when it came to service, the place seemed severely understaffed. I love the Bloody Mary’s in this place, but this time I received one that hadn’t been tasted - it was pure Tabasco and undrinkable, but the barman was kind enough to take it back and take it off our bill.
Great atmosphere and cocktails. Wish there was more staff or was better organised.
M. K.
The atmosphere was great and the food was amazing. Probably the best vegan restaurant my partner and I have ever been to!
A.
Used to love this place but the crowd seems to have changed a bit (mostly trendy student types) and drinks are all really expensive. Bring back the cheap cocktail list! Usually decent music though and the food has been great every time.
M. W.
Some of the best vegan fare I've had in Edinburgh
J.
This was a great wee place, full of veggie and vegan options to choose from. Between us, we had the Mac and cheese which was amazingly flavoursome, and the black bean burger which was very tasty. We also had some ice-cream for dessert. Altogether a great find.
G. A.
It's better to eat in Paradise [Palms] than to reign in Hell!
Absolutely amazing food, super generous portions. Hope the staff know that whatever else is going on with them they made my day with their service and cooking.
Couldn't say much about the decor or music etc because as soon as the food arrived I was transfixed on eating.
Nice chirpy graffiti in the loos too!
Thank you so much for a wonderful, abundant lunch... thanks for having the sun come out onto your outdoor seating... menu so good I *almost* pity the carnivores and homophobes who exclude themselves
K. C.
Eclectic spot with a great energy! The vegan food is delicious, and even surprised meat eaters. We stayed in the the attached AirBnb and the owner was very welcoming and sweet. Hey gave us a bottle of prosecco for our new years celebrations, and made sure there was food in the kitchen in case we were hungry. I'd definitely return.
M. H.
Cruelty-free soul food with a fantastic drinks menu - what’s not to love? Food came to the table piping hot. Portion sizes are hearty (2-3 small plates per person is probably enough, not the 4 I ordered!) and staff were super friendly. New fave spot!
D. V.
Great burger, however didn't like as much the southern fried "chicken". It was a bit bland, it would have been better as a starter than a main. Unusual decoration and friendly staff.
J. S.
Really nice place! Services was good! My carnivore friend super enjoyed it, which surprised me. The chicken Seitan was nice, but just a little too salty. The buffalo califlower wings should be made into unlimited! Could eat them all day! Really enjoyed it
D. M. (.
Great atmosphere and lovely food/cocktails
A. M.
Great drinks and food in this eclectic bar. The food was good value, really tasty and a welcome change from the gourmet burger trend. I had thai chicken skewers and my husband had the ninja buns. The drinks were great and I loved the decor, there was lots to look at. My only complaint was my wine was served in a tumbler.
f. k.
Love this place. Great cocktails the best vegan food in Edinburgh
N. N.
Very good vegetarian food, with plenty of vegan options. Inside was decorated with fairy lights, disco balls, and various oddities such as a typewriter stuck to the wall. The most noticeable thing when walking in are the multitude of cuddly toys attached to the ceiling above the bar. Our server was very friendly and helpful, even moving the table so that we could all sit together in comfort. The only downside was that the place was utterly mobbed, but seeing as we were in Edinburgh on a Saturday night, that's only to be expected.
s.
Very cool place in the old town of Edinburgh with delicious food and great options, I wish I could come back and try them all.
K. W.
Some of the best vegan ‘junk food’ I’ve had. If I could have tried everything from the menu I would have - the Mac and cheese, buffalo cauliflower and jackfruit nachos were amazing! The atmosphere of the place is very cool too and the staff seemed very helpful which was a plus. Will definitely be going back when I’m in Edinburgh!
C. A.
A great place for cocktails!! I love the decor, the staff is amazing and their fried pickles are to die for !! Would never recommend enough!!
C. W.
The food here is incredible, even if you're not a vegetarian I highly recommend it. Especially the meatball sub! Overall atmosphere is pretty cool too. Service was fine, the only issue was that it took around 45 minutes for our food to arrive, and it wasn't that busy! Would have been 5 stars if the food arrived quicker!
D. K.
I came here after handing in my dissertation. It was the best pint and grub I've ever eaten.
Normally, still worth a visit for the retro decor and good selection of drinks. Great atmosphere. Nice on a sunny summer's day sitting outside and soaking in the festival buzz.
A. Z.
Second time in Edinburgh, second time I stopped here for a bite. We're vegans and even though everything on the menu is veggie they can make it 100% vegan. Food is great, staff is friendly, cocktails are spot on, place is cosy and intimate, especially if you dine next to the fireplace.
If going again to Edinburgh I will definitely visiting it again.
It's indeed became an unmissable stop for me!
G. C.
Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Stopped for lunch on a Sunday with baby. Very comfortably accomadated, great service. Wonderful veggie and vegan options! With a good beer selection.
Great place with great character, looking forward to going back.
A. G.
I've been in the Paradise Palms with my partner for dinner. We had deep fried pickles, Mac and cheese and jackfruit fries (all vegan).
The interior is very nice and interesting. I like the dish selection - most of them sounded very interesting, like the deep fried pickles that we just had to try! The food was good but not the greatest. The Mac and cheese for me was missing some flavour - I ate way better in some other places. The staff was very friendly
b.
It's not really my scene but my friend is vegan and insisted on going!
It was fringe time when we were here so it was very busy and noisy but the food was ready fairly quickly and tasted pretty good! - My vegan friend certainly loved it.
Cool selection of drinks as well as a homebrew.
We had ordered something that didn't arrive but the staff offered to make it or to take it off the bill so no problems!
The only thing I would say if your planning on going is have a back up place just incase as they had to turn a few people away due to no tables!
K. W.
Long wait for food but went as a walk in on a Saturday so to be expected. Decor is great. Drinks selection is staggering and bar staff took time to make recommendations despite how busy it was! Food was fantastic. Very cool little spot
L. W.
Paradise Palms is striking - it really does that whole velvet grunge thing well. It's a bit hipster-come-louche with all the sensual rich colours, foliage, and... bunting. The bar area seems somewhat separate from the dining area, which with its brighter lights is a little less appealing, despite the charm of the typewriter-displayed menu. When I was there on my own for a quick bite to eat, staff were chatty and pleasant. It's nice to finish a meal and disappear into the depths of the room.
Of the meals, I've tried a tofu "ninja bun" burger, teriyaki marinated tofu in a steamed bun. They're not terribly expensive and so not huge, but more filling than they look, and a decent (and to Edinburgh, pretty unique) lunch or in-between solid snack.
Cocktails are nice and again, reasonably priced, although given the popularity of the place, you might have a little bit of a wait. It's worth reserving a table if you're with a group.
The first time I was there, the set-up of a complicated looking vintage-style-over-usability DJ booth behind our table was ongoing, and we left because it was so distracting - bright torch light being shone from a phone directly into my friend's face for five minutes wasn't the vibe we were looking for on a Friday night.
But, overall, I think I like it, and I'll be back to try it out again.
K. B.
This is one of the cutest and kitschiest bars in all of Edinburgh. You’ll get the greatest espresso martini in the entire city while staring up at a ceiling covered in stuffed animals and funky lampshades, with good music pumping in the background. Not particularly cheap but with martinis around £10 that’s about normal for Edinburgh, and the quality is top notch. Definitely a good stop and of my favourite cocktail bars in Edinburgh!
T. L.
Paradise Palms has decor that makes me feel a bit like I'm at a circus when inside. It is a good new addition to the area and serves the normal beers but also has a wide range of cocktails, starting at £3.50 and they're pretty good especially considering the prices.
I've been in twice with colleagues and it's been a good place to accommodate a group of about ten of us. The first time we were seated in the back, though, and they were a bit odd and said we could only be served food if we say in the front although there were no seats left up there. They have a full kitchen and now serve Ninja Buns which I've previously tried at markets and are great. I'll have to come back for food sometime, but be careful that I'm sitting in the right area I guess!
I. M.
We’re here on vacation from the US and this was an amazing experience! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was very nice. We had the Jerk jackfruit fries and Mac and cheese as a side. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a vegetarian restaurant with food this good. Highly recommend, wish I could give more than 5 stars!
T. H.
Absolutely loved this place! The food is better than expected and the portion sizes are exceptional. In other words, perfect value for money.
Would highly recommend this place to any Vegan/Vegetarian!
P. C.
Love Paradise Palms, and not only because it is close to work. This unassuming bar is like a treasure cove, full of quirky details and amazing drinks. Staff is usually super friendly and if you fancy some food they have good vegetarian and vegan options. Fries are nice!
A. B.
Not great but not bad. Onion rings were very bland. Sandwich was bland. Service was great. Fringe show being performed behind the curtain was...a bit annoying? It's hard to pull of good vegan food and this place is average to above average. I'm pickier than most so the average person probably loves this place.
M. E.
Great looking venue, a place to visit. Standard prices and good DJs smoothing a night out. Unfortunately haven't tried their food, but vodka and soda is on spot. Get busy at times and wait at the bar can be a bit upsetting, however staff noticeably doing their best. Smoking area outside, great location in the city.
k. h.
It is a nice quirky place! Everywhere you look you see something different! Think they might have been having bad day when I was in! There was something black in my fruit cider, I was given no cutlery for my food and they forgot one of my friends sides however, they were very apologetic & my drink was replaced & cutlery brought quickly! I'm not a vegetarian or vegan & this was first time I been to an exclusively vegetarian/vegan restaurant! The food was ok although it wasn't normally what I would go for!
D. D.
Great ambience, quirky decor, extensive drinks menu and good veggie/vegan food :)
N. M.
The food is amazing & the atmosphere is great but it is really let down by the waiting staff. I went in alone on a Monday afternoon. It wasn't busy but stood waiting ages to be seated. The waitress, Laura, either had a personal dislike for me or the fact I was alone, or just couldn't be ar*ed that day & ignored me. Called her colleague over for service. She served others yet left me with no cutlery when she dropped off my food. Recommend the food & have not had a problem with staff here before but be prepared for blah service.
Update: Have come back months later. Laura pulled out all the stops (I got the same waitress). It was mad busy and all the staff were stretched yet service & food were both great. Dont know if it was because she knew id left a negative for her before or if she was just on form. Friendly chat too. Thanks Laura.
M. D.
One of my fave local spots, love the environment and staff are always so lovely - food is unreal, mac and cheese is a personal favourite.
S.
As a meat eater, I'm very impressed. The food was lovely. Service was great and I liked the cocktail I had. The meatball dirty fries are highly recommended
S. C.
Visited during the festival which meant it was busy, but the wait at the bar wasn't too bad. The wait for food was pretty lengthy, but they did warn us in advance. Food offered is all veggie, plus plenty of vegan options, if thats something that appeals. Had some pretty standard fries and nachos. Loved the decor and it felt nice and warm and cosy inside away from the rain.
K.
The dishes we had (Southern fried halloumni & seitan, cauliflower wings) were good but nothing mind-blowing to be honest. Unfortunately, we found that the ice cream at the end was not good. The texture except for the salted caramel one was poor and just not that exciting in general. We wouldn‘t come back here for dinner. Although, it seems like a good place to get drinks.
L. N.
Such a lovely vibe in this restaurant on our visit last weekend, so much so that we went back for a 2nd meal there during our stay. Food is SO nice & reasonably priced. Great drink selection. Very friendly staff!
A. R.
Love the vibe in this place - it's a bit dive bar meets Twin Peaks - which is a good thing obviously. A lot of interesting bits and pieces to see inthe decor - a lot of thought has obviously gone into making it a cool place to hang out. Great range of really individual cocktails and the food menu is really unique - fish and chip tacos! Doesn't sound like it should work but it does! Delicious!
T. R.
Very reluctantly giving a bad review to a vegan restaurant, especially one with such a wonderful vibe. I've been twice and both times I've been shocked by the service. Sticky table, we asked for it to be wiped and the server gave us a snidy look. Waited forever for our meals. I ordered the hot dog with extra sauerkraut (like an extra £2 or something) and it was NOT Sauerkraut! It was vinegary red cabbage, and it was a ridiculously tiny portion, like a spoonful. I want to love this place because of its vibe and menu and all, but I've just been very disappointed. Hope they can improve on this.
K. R.
Great concept but needs a bit of work on execution. Service was really wonky with giant periods of time where no one got attention, followed by one server checkin gin and 30 seconds later a different server checking in. Saw a lot of tables get frustrated and go to the bar to order food and drink after talking to people about their slow service. Also saw a lot of servers hanging around dancing with each other and on phones rather than helping guests.
The food was OK. Execution pretty mediocre like undercooked Seitan that was raw and chewy inside, and flavors that could have been more interesting and less soggy. A great chef or managing chef would work wonders in the place.
It looks cool inside, reminds me of my old haunts in the LES/NYC. Someone great like Chef Suzi/Plant Based Gourmet would rock it out of the park there.
P. I.
Great vibe. The food was very good. They have the best cauliflower wings I’ve ever had.
S. K.
All the food here is vegiterian, and had the option to go vegan. There is no option to add any meat so keep that in mind when going. You can get main dishes between 7 to 12 pounds. The place has a really nice vibe and atmosphere, good selection of beers and other drinks, and food is decent too.
N. S.
My favourite bar in Edinburgh. I love it's quirkiness & you can get a mean White Russian cocktail plus Margarita there. Excellent music policy & some amazing dj's have played there including Justin Robertson, Davie Millar & Ed Mahon etc. The drinks aren't cheap but it's worth it & they serve nice vegan food. Highly recommend
T. J. C.
Incredible. The food. The atmosphere. The service. I go every time I'm in Edinburgh.
T. H.
Good vegan burger and nice vibe 👍🏻
L. G.
Great cocktails, however a little disappointed with their 'frickles' that everyone raves about. Very greasy and more batter than actual pickle.
M. M.
I was so happy and excited to come here but I ended up disappointed. The restaurant and the service is perfect I have nothing to say but the food... It was nothing special and quite dry. Also the portions were huge and I'm someone who eats a lot.
G. D.
We hadn't realised that this was a vegetarian restaurant and my party nearly left. However, at the end everyone had really enjoyed their dishes and were glad we stayed. I would only say we felt there was perhaps a little too much salt in some dishes. But otherwise loved it.
L. J.
Proper quality vegan/vegetarian dining. A group of 8 of us visited this spot, only one being vegan. Our plates were spotless by the end of the night and glasses were too. Best espresso martini I had in Edinburgh.
E. F.
Chilli. Cheese. Fries.
Best chilli cheese fries ever... And the helping was huge!
Well setup for social distancing, with kind, friendly staff and a completely automated service. Tables have QR codes which include the table number. Ingenious!
S. H.
Interesting and delicious selection of vegetarian and vegan food, good cocktails. Was really busy when we visited and it seems like a local hotspot, so difficult to order food and find a table. Slightly on the expensive side though.
n. p.
Excellent food/drinks place. Also has a very good vegan option here - the tofu bun. Great atmosphere and drinks, very friendly staff. Need to get back in order to load some coins into the arcade game unit.
A. B.
Really cool vibe and decor. Staring at the hanging dolls can fill 20mins on its own if you're bored of conversation. Drinks are about on par for Edinburgh, with some nice cocktails on offer. Food is 100% vegan and really tasty, even to a meat eater like myself. Again food is really well priced for a nice lunch. They even have an arcade machine in the basement, although I've never played. A must try for vegans and general hipsters alike.
k. f.
Can't fault it at all I'm so full and the portions are good but probably normal size it's just so filling that a small amount does the job. My problem is it's too good to not finish. Who ever said vegan food is bland needs to get here and try the food. Yum yum yum
S. H.
Really good cocktails, a shame they're overpriced and that they don't even fill up the already miniscule glasses. Waitress was rude when we were there last time, so we left and went somewhere else after one drink. In short, a nice place to visit for one drink if you can afford it but then find somewhere else with a similar atmosphere where you'll get what you pay for.
f.
Very nice vegan and vegetarian dishes. Friendly and attentive waiting and bar staff. Pleasant ambience. An enjoyable experience. The seitan 'meatballs' dish was delicious! Recommended.
P. B.
The Mac and cheese here is out of this world. And did I mention the cocktails? The Rosemary julep was amazing! Really friendly bar staff, laid back vibe, great music and cool decor. My new favourite Edinburgh bar!
S.
This place really is amazing!
It attracts a lot of people, and especially many of the people I see on the bus.
Quite a lot are pretty much defaults here, but I do get quite a Royale feeling here from time to time.
10/10, would recommend, especially if you find something Epic in the chests on the top of the hotel!
M. S.
For a vegetarian / vegan place they do good dishes. I think they need to sorry out the beer list a bit though. Ordered the pale ale it was a sour pale, very different then the style expected.
B. H.
I love the decor and the veggie food is amazing! We had veggie hotdogs and you could hardly tell it wasn't real (I'm not a veggie)! Food did take a wee bit longer to come because it's cooked fresh so not somewhere to go if you're in a rush!
L. W.
The cutest vegan/vegetarian bad and restaurant. Fab cocktails. Must try the Buckfast daquiri
J. L.
Lovely staff, great food! Deep fried halloumi is excellent and the meatballs and seitan are both really nice too. If you're vegetarian and in Edinburgh, do not miss this place!!!
L. S.
Cute, eclectic bar. Very different to it's previous incarnations. We went during the day for a quick bite - very reasonably priced soft tacos although there was a bit of scrimping on the filling. Think it'd be fun in the evening.
J. B.
Brilliant vegetarian food, some of the best I've had in a long time. The vibes or the bar is amazing and cozy! Ordered online, was fast and easy
S. Y.
The "Ninja Bun" menu is gone! Paradise Palm's has a new menu "The Lucky Pig", which is a completely vegetarian and vegan friendly menu.
Picking our meals was very difficult, due to the fantastic options available! The Mac and Cheese is amazing as well as the tempura vegetables.
The decor is very casual and friendly, giving a laid back feeling. A range of cocktails and beers, which will cater for everyone.
The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating who are more than happy to give their advice when navigating menu.
s. d.
No photos, but had some lovely food and a few beers with my missus, lovely vegetarian food. I had chilli fries and she had Southern fried seitan. Both great, affordable and friendly service as well

Awesome food selection and great drinks. Really fun and busy decor. A must if you're visiting Edinburgh, even if it's for a drink.

Again another fav place open again and glad it is. I've DJed in here, drank and eaten. Great place. Love going here

Great burger, however didn't like as much the southern fried "chicken". It was a bit bland, it would have been better as a starter than a main. Unusual decoration and friendly staff.
D. K.
Very nice room with 2 shared bathrooms and large kitchen area with refrigerator. Best part is location, very close to Royal Mile, around the corner from the National Museum of Scotland and in the heart of the Edinburgh fringe festival. Above a very busy but friendly pub called Paradise Palms. Would stay again.

Amazing food, gentle staff, dog friendly, and nice environment. Super recommend!
J. P.
Good to have a restaurant to be serving all veg food (and which is not just lentils and rice). The food we ordered was very tasty. Staff very frìendly, but not very accurate. A large glass of wine brought rather than small. And Lapsang Souchong tea delivered rather than Earl Grey! In staff defence, however, it was a busy afternoon mid festival.
M. R.
Really really good and I totally recommend it! The food was totally delicious and the price was not too expensive.
We saw the restaurant while we were looking for lunch and we got lucky that we spotted it. Will come here again when I am next time in Edinburgh.
Z. R.
Had the nachos and a great gin cocktail - really nice atmosphere and delicious food.
H. D. K.
Great place to go and have a drink and a quick bite! Only vegetarian and vegan choices in the menu though. Good selection of drinks. It's a cheerful and friendly place and I highly recommend it!
L.
Awesome food selection and great drinks. Really fun and busy decor. A must if you're visiting Edinburgh, even if it's for a drink.

Every dish we tried was amazing - really great vegetarian / vegan fast food. Halloumi was the best I’ve had so far, and also highly recommend the meatballs with chips.

I visited for a noon time lunch. The restaurant was quite empty at the time. The interior has a pleasant tropical decor. The staff forgot my appetizer, but it still appeared on my final bill. After clearing up the confusion they did remove the forgotten food from my bill.
Z. M.
Excellent - as a non-vegetarian/vegan I didn't feel the menu was lacking at all, as you do with some places! Wide range of dishes, good quality ingredients and a great atmosphere
K. H.
The cauliflower wings are amazing! The best I've had, and they are somehow breaded and gluten free. They stay crispy even with the delicious sauces.
M. D.
Brilliant atmosphere, and great lighting. With a full vegetarian and vegan menu too! Had the veg Mac and cheese and honestly couldn't tell there was no cheese in it, as a non vegan I was CRAZY impressed!!
C. M.
My favourite place in Edinburgh to eat veg food! I just love it!
J. M.
Delicious vegan food, the buffalo cauliflower wings are to die for!
M. K.
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our night out here. Great drinks in a 'tropical' atmosphere. Almost like in Miami! Highly recommended! Will definitely come back!
E. V.
Really cool atmosphere inside, definitely recommend for getting some drinks!
L. C.
this place is super quirky. i'm probably not hipster enough to hang here, but it feels a bit 1920s / hawaii which is fun. the bar staff were friendly and the cocktails we tried were all pretty good (the higher place - peachy prosecco goodness was the winner) the music seemed a bit loud but the night we were in it was quite jazz based which became a talking point so it was all good.
J. R.
Lovely place, great vegan pancakes! Great staff and very friendly.
K. a. H.
Amazing vegan/veggie food and great drinks! Try the dirty fries (the 'meatball' ones were mindblowing). Great vibe and fun decorations make this place a fun one to hang in for dinner or pre drinks :D
J. M.
What a place! What. A. Place.
If you haven't been, do yourself a favour... You won't regret it.
Thanks for a great night. Fabulous food. Amazing drinks.

I have to say the service was absolutely brilliant but unfortunately the food didn’t live up to expectations. Every dish we ordered was totally bland and lacking in flavour which is a real shame.
B. G.
Terrific place with such a big variety! With a cheerful and friendly atmosphere, it can surely classify as a hotspot locale of the city! With great prices and succulent food!
F. P.
Absolute best restaurant/bar in Edinburgh! Love the atmosphere, the staff and the food/drinks
J. L.
Awesome place! An unusual surprise in the heart of Edinburgh! Drinks are great, decor is well thought out and it’s a lovely fun atmosphere.
H. Y.
Delicious vegan junk food, fun atmosphere and quirky decor. Perfect if you're a really hungry vegan looking for some comfort food and a comfortable seat!
E. A.
Amazing food (recommend the seitan bits), drinks are great, staff are so nice and welcoming, I love the weird quirky decor. Would definitely go again.
T. C.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food, the cauliflower hot wings were awesome.
S. S.
Quirky place with very cheerful, interesting decoration. Food is all veggie and can be made vegan. They had an extensive drinks menu as well
A. D.
Really good vegan and veggie food. Some of the best in Edinburgh. Lovely cocktails, can get quite busy. Good prices and friendly staff
s. m.
The burgers aren't just "great for a vegan burger" they're great full stop! Definetly visit this place and don't forget the dirty fries!
A. O.
Absolutely lovely food and good atmosphere. I would give it 5 start in a heartbeat if they would just stop being silly and go 100%Vegan already! But definitely worth the visit👌
B.
Delicious vegan food with such a vibing atmosphere. Great find and really filling. Had the jackfruit loaded fries - try it and you won't regret!
B. R.
Lovely decor, a pinball machine, delicious chili cheese fries and creative drinks. What else could you ask for?
A. B.
Oh how we partied while the rest of Edinburgh ground to a snowbound halt. Enthusiastic skilled barstaff, welcome committee(doorpersons) and clientele all very appropriate to their positions. If you want to have fun, come here.
L. S.
The tastiest vegetarian food I've had in a long time. Drinks menu is good too. Lovely Kitsch atmosphere too. I love it here.
A. B.
Delicious food! I love the completely veggie and vegan menu. Had a buckfast daiquiri which is actually really yummy!
B. G.
Such a quarky little bar! From the aloha shirts and stuffed animals on the ceiling, to the stuffed boar behind the bar. There's never a dull moment. Great staff, and a fun crowd.
W. M.
No1 for cocktails, they have it just right, delicious and fun. It's a great place to relax - love the booths and there's plenty to catch your eye with the class meets kitsch decor.
G. M.
Paradise Palms is indeed an oasis in the city centre South-side. I love the style & feel of it inside (& out for that matter). Dark & loungy with glittering lights & a myriad of trinkets to catch your eye, it's a Bohemian Aladdin's Cave. They are now rocking a new food menu which is fairly small & concentrated, but awesome. The Black Bean burger with a side of fries & side salad will fill your belly, as will the considerable portion of Chipotle Mac 'n' Cheese, so don't be scared that a veggie menu won't satisfy you (as I was, being a meat-eater!). Decent draught ales & beers are standard & the cocktails are amazing. Check it out...
N. J.
Very nice staff, great vegan / veggie food x
M. L.
PLASTIC STRAWS
cocktails were nice but they still use plastic straws. nice decor and service
L. G.
Amazing vegan options!
Really good food and great service too
K. W.
Amazing food, drinks, staff and atmosphere.
A. R.
The place is very nice, it has cozy places to sit.The staff is great, almost all of them have nice moustaches and are very kind and easygoing. They serve cocktails from Mojito with Gin to Mezcal :) And it has good prices.
J. F.
Great atmosphere and you're welcome to eat anywhere if the restaurant section in front is busy. Drinks are a bit expensive, really good selection of food options.
J. M.
Nice friendly vegetarian vegan bar restaurant close to university .....teddy bears hanging from ceiling!
m.
Fantastic food and reasonably priced. We went twice over our 2 days in Edinburgh. Lots of seating choice too.
C. S.
Another valiant attempt to make something happen on that cursed stretch of Lothian Street, but this one's a bit different.
Rather than blindly trying to capitalise on a current trend or target any particular demographic, this venture is firmly showing its eggs among many baskets. It's a cocktail bar, it's a venue for live music and cabaret, it's a family friendly eaterie... and rather than doing all these things by half it seems to be working it. The range of clientele is remarkable - as are the selections of gins, rums, tequilas etc - and the cocktails and food are interestingly varied and not overpriced.
M. L.
Great vegetarian and vegan food, love that it doubles ups an LGBT+ bar. Cocktails are great, lovely atmosphere and quirky decor
P. M.
every time I come to Edinburgh I go there for lunch. Super!
B. S.
The food was simply excellent. Atmosphere fantastic. Also has a pinball machine: Ripley's Believe It or Not. (Low tilt threshold)
A. W.
Amazing staff, and LGBTQ+ friendly (frankly that shouldn't be a selling point but that's the society we live in) amazing drinks as well!
P. S.
Really nice friendly atmosphere. Good food selection for a non veggie like me. Probably a bit spicy for some.
S. M.
Highly recommend to go there and order a wee selection of sides to share with your friends. Very flavourful and it doesn't taste like vegan food at all!
K. B.
Relaxed, tucked away tiki full of weird trickets and wonderful cocktails. Cheap prices, great vegetarian food (try the nachos) good relaxing music.
If you want a tiki bar that takes you away from the outside world this is the place. So many tiki bars forget that this is the whole point of tiki... They have not.
The staff are really welcoming and knowledgeable but not intrusive in anyway. We were lucky enough to stay above this delightful bar on a Airbnb vibe so got 30% off which made a well priced bar a BARgain.
One thing I would say is that while the decor is truly tiki... The hanging army of plush cuddly toys that covers parts of the ceiling is towards the weird end of the scale...
R. V.
I was recommended Paradise Palms as a potential venue for a former Ninjatune artist, who I manage, by a well-known Edinburgh resident (contrary to other Edinburgh music venues), and I couldnt have been more happier in the way Aaron and Davie facilitated the Scottish leg of a UK tour on 1 December. They went above and beyond the call of duty in ensuring my artist, her husband and daughter were fully looked after. There arent many who would when it comes to live music event management etc, but Aaron and Davie, I thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. Ema has since, sung your praises and we collectively, couldn't have been more grateful to you all. Please stay in touch and I know Ema would love to return to Paradise Palms, in the future!
M. T.
I love this place. Great food and cool atmosphere. If you're after vegetarian and vegan options - this is a right choice for you.
J. A.
Excellent vegan food that was very filling, with good music and decor. A good range of cocktails to enjoy and a very nice introduction to Edinburgh.
M. O. A. T.
Best spot to land. No joke. The loot is perfect, the rifts help me escape the storm and the vending machines are just epic. 5 stars, would drop again!
W. M.
Staff work heroically to ensure nobody in this busy bar goes thirsty. Tasty and interesting menu. Great cocktails. Highly recommend a visit.
E. R.
Best veggie/vegan food I’ve had.
D. S.
Great veggie food selection. The interior design of the place is wild and clashing - I love it. Friendly staff!
P. H.
Cool decor and nice staff. Some drinks are a bit small for the price but especially with the students discount it's great.
K. A.
Really cool venue serving fantastic vegetarian and vegan food. The drinks menu is amazing also, especially the mai tai!
A. P.
Friendly staff and nice selection of vegan and vegetarian food.

We came here for the veggie junk food and we weren't disappointed. (Except that they forgot my friend's halloumi.) Would definitely pay another visit.
J. B.
Absolutely fabulous. Great cocktails and wonderful, guilt -free, tasty foid. Very reasonable prices too!
J. S.
Very friendly staff and amazing food. I particularly enjoyed the corn fritters with crunch slaw and the lucky nachos. A very laidback, tropical atmosphere.
J.
Very nice place, I like the hotel which spawns me a decent amount of loot. Sometimes I will come out with a handful of kills, full shield and a golden scar. Would recommend :)
G. x.
Vegetarian and Vegan dining with most of the menu being vegan. This place is usually busy so be prepared for wee wait. But there is Also a bar to have drink at while waiting.
O. A.
Incredible vegan food, very good drinks and the atmosphere transforms to a more tropical place. Highly recommend!
D. N.

L. E.
Good choice of veggie food and tasty cocktails. Zombie cocktail not as tasty as other bars but food tasty. Service good. Bit tight for space.
N. F.
Quirky bar, full of character. Friendly staff, good food - soft-dough ninja-buns with a variety of fillings (a little on the small side, but really tasty).
J. S.
Love the Sharing cocktails, had some sharing sides too at a very reasonable price. Staff are friendly and always up for a chat!
C. G.

K. D.
Lively! Music for dancing! Kaleidoscopic decor! A great place to head to before going out, ... or if you can't decide if you're in the mood for dancing or not ;)
O. L.
Very kitsch! Food is sometimes great, but the quality of said food is inconsistent, and the cocktails are pretty steep (considering they are 75% ice).
I. K.
The food and drink is quite good but don’t expect a fast service. Always left waiting ages for our order to be taken and then again on the bill.
C. W. m.
Great food, good portions, reasonably price and friendly service. This is our 5th time, consistently good.
L. E.

Vegetarisch, vegan, good food and friendly poeple. If you like shabby style it's a nice place. It could be a litte more clean.
P. M.
The fried seitan dish was quite dry. The service was good but food took ages to come.
F. A.

N. S.
Quirky aesthetic, delicious dirty vegan food
J. D. C.
OK for food and cocktails
K. H.
Maybe suffering a little from trying to be all things to all people, it seems a little disjointed. Is it a dive bar? A cocktail bar? Somewhere to be seen? Perhaps. Deserves some plaudits for not trying to plough the same furrow in a slightly neglected area of Edinburgh's drinking scene.
J. M.
The food is awesome and the bar is really cool. Downsides are the drinks are a little expensive and the food stops pretty early.
G. A.
Cool music, friendly vibes, quirky decor, excellent veggie food. An oasis in Edinburgh city centre.
C. C.
Great Vegan food, but long wait for a table and can't pre-book
J. M.
