Reviews of Smoke Stack

Another local one for us, this time we went out with our family and decided to go for some burgers and the like.
None to bad, service fine food was rather tasty and a good night was had by all.
Enjoyable.😁

Rating: 6/10
Food: nice steak if a little on the small side.
Price: reasonably priced.
Other: decor is pretty cool, wait staff were friendly.

Came across smoke stack during trip to the theatre, would highly recommend, nice friendly relaxed atmosphere. Had a flat iron steak sandwich 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 lovely staff too

Even tho they were short staffed' service was fast and food was delicious. Definitely be back soon. 5*

I've been a few times and honestly, I think the calamari is delicious, it's always been good, hot, well cooked, light and crispy. I think £7 is a bit expensive though.
This time we came on an itison deal we had been gifted, 2 burgers and a drink each. The Goats cheese starter was delicious, I was told. The burgers came out hot, the fries were fresh and crispy. I didn't think the burger had much taste if I'm honest, I've had better. If I was paying full price, I would find it expensive.
I was given a glass of beer, 2/3ds of a pint, which I really enjoyed, I asked what it was and was told Budvar, I ordered another glass and was given a large 500ml bottle! That stuff annoys me, be honest and open about what you are doing. Sneaky ways to charge people more is a really bad habit.
I find the Smoke Stack food OK, it's too expensive for what it is and seems to lack any identity. When you hear smoke stack, I think smoke chargrilled, josper cooked burgers, dirty fries, buffalo wings, oozy smoky mac n cheese. Not expensive burgers, an a la carte menu, chicken and haggis, slow cooked lamb shank? Find some identity, choose to do something and do it really well. If it wasn't an itison deal, I wouldn't come back, it's not good value, for me.

Attracted by the trading name this small establishment was both contemporary yet relaxed in it's decor. Welcomed in by the team for an early evening 'tea' we were treated to a fantastically tasty burger & fries at a great price. Well worth a visit.
A. V.
Loved it. Went with a large and the staff were super accomodating. Food is great and is a sage bet when in groups of.large numbers.
Lived up to their rep regarding steaks. The rib eye was delicious
K. Ó. C.
The waiter seems to despise vegans. Rolled his eyes at the request for oatmilk and was openly hostile. The food was fine and the waitress was pleasant.
F. A.
Delicious food, lovely staff, clean and nicely decorated
A. M.
Excellent for brunch or a lazy morning. We tried the chicken and haggis, the fish and chips and both were perfect. The coffee was also great which made us want to stay for a while longer than expected

Our second visit here, having breakfast.
Pleasant staff, efficient. Good service.
Nice to see the conscious choices to reduce environmental impact - from the story of the refurb through to the locally sourced ingredients.
Dairy alternatives available.
Will return again, recommend you give the place a try!

Whether it's burgers, salads or sandwiches, this is a cracking wee place on Broughton Street for a quick lunch. Taking a peak at other tables, I can definitely say I'll be trying to check out this places brunch options as well.
The menu itself is quite varied ranging from brunch, burgers and salads to Scottish beef steaks.
Staff are friendly and service is quick.
S. H.
A nice location and very friendly service. I had the burger and it was delicious. A bit pricey for what you get but it’s Edinburgh.
L. E.
My friends and I were visiting Edinburgh for new year's, and the owners of the restaurant told us about the place. And we sat down and ate, the food was really good and delicious. I had the vegetarian Haggis, neeps and tatties. For dessert I tried the cranachan. My friend had the pork Haggis and she loved it. The staff was very helpful and hospitable.
A. C.
Definitely a place you must go to while in Edinburgh. Went for a pre theatre meal and had the tomato basil soup and fish and chips. Was the best soup I've had in a while. Definitely will go back just for that if I can. The fish and chips were great as well. Not soggy like some places I've been too. The hostess was nice and pleasant and very accommodating as well. The price is right which makes it even better!
A. C.
Chicken and haggis was good, service was good - nice of them to provide tap water without asking.
Personally, I feel like vegetables should be included in the price when ordering a main meal.
T. W.
Always amazing food and great service here! I visit often for a meal before going to the nearby Playhouse Theatre. Would highly recommend!
F. C.
Ana made the whole experience an unforgettable moment. Good wines (white Malbec), cocktails and Gluten free beer! Good music. Chill vibes.
D. N.
We came for breakfast and really enjoyed our meal. The interior is very cool and they even have a decent bathroom with nice toiletries and towels. Good service.
S. R.
Had a good evening here on Saturday. The food was very tasty. I had the Calamari for starter and a burger for main. The Calamari was fresh and delicious.
Y. M.
This was a return trip to Smoke Stack, our second trip in fact. The steaks are great, cooked to perfection. The dip selection for the steaks are really good too, especially the whiskey sauce. The sides are quite nice too. Starters were really nice I enjoyed the pate and toast very much. We will return and we definitely recommend you try the restaurant.
J. L.
My partner and I had organised a trip to Edinburgh for our anniversary and I stumbled across the Smoke Stack. Our experience was absolutely fantastic, the staff should all get raises! We had such an amazing time, the food was faultless, perfect to say the least! If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Thank you to all the staff! You are amazing :)
S. C.
Great service ,great food
we had the sirloin cooked to perfection
couldn't fault in any way will pop back when in the area
C. T.
The service, food and ambience were all second to none. An absolute must visit if you are in the area!
K. A. M.
Friendly staff, nice ambiance,
Good variety of beers and cocktails.
On holiday....Ordered the chicken special and the boyfriend got the sirloin. Being a restaurant specializing in beef. I should have ordered beef...but I enjoyed the chicken..
M. C.
Great food. Excellent service from friendly and efficient staff.
Enjoyed our evening there.
Thanks guys
L. T.
Fast and sweet service and good food. The vegetarian haggis wellington was really a good experience for us. Everything was perfect
N. C.
Solid neighbourhood restaurant. Great calamari and decent steak sandwich. Nice casual atmosphere and good service
A. G.
The best soup of the day ever, sweet potato, ginger with a hint of chilli, absolutely delightful followed by an equally delicious avocado, bacon & chicken salad. Definitely needs a visit next time we're here in Edinburgh
O. K.
A bit pricey but the food you get for that money is fabulous. Cozy, close to the city centre
The place could be bigger so it could have more potential. But given the street layout it's hardly achievable.
Visit if you want to get stuffed with a delicious meal
T. C.
Amazing food great customer service enjoyed it all
M. J. S.
Great food and lovely service. Fast and accomodating.
M. W.
Probably the best burger I've ever had. Served hot and well filled, it was a real treat. My wife had a haloumi burger and said it was amazing. If I had to make one criticism, it would be that the fries were a little sparse and a few more would have been very welcomed. Really busy restaurant, so always better to book a table. Highly recommended
E.
Very lovely place, staff are very polite. Had a sticky toffee pudding which was absolutely delicious, hot chocolate was also very good. Would definitely reccomend this place for a chit chat with jazz music in the background. 5 stars is an understatement.
C. “. S. D.
Great food. Lovely service and decor. Bit of a Shame that a fly fell in my milkshake but no fault of their own.
M. H.
Lovely Scottish food, great atmosphere and friendly staff!
R. W.
A great place for a relaxed lunch or evening meal. Really good food. The calamari starter and sirloin steak made it a perfect meal. The German pale ale was refreshing, as was the Marlborough white. I also had to try one of the six whisky taster sets. A lovely way to end the meal.
G. G.
Great food, great service. We had the waffles and breakfast butties which were delicious.
Tables were distanced, staff all wore masks -we felt very safe and comfortable.
A. J.
Good steak and service, great white chocolate cheesecake!
M. R.
Had a good portion of Avocado salad for lunch and it was good.
T. W.
Liked this restaurant very much. A lovely attentive waitress who looked after us well . Good selection of food on offer served to us very quickly. Drinks prices on par with the majority of restaurants in Edinburgh. The food itself was well presented and tasted very nice. Would go back.
E. C.
Delicious waffles and milkshakes, very nice way to start the day!
R. L.
Bit a last minute opportunity to go the Lion King and luckily came across Smoke Stack on Broughton Street for a quick bite to eat. A lovely welcome, food was great, especially the banoffee pie. Service was excellent throughout. It didn't break the bank and we left full up and very happy. Would highly recommend.
M. T.
Great place for breakfast or lunch. Very nice people work here.
E. C.
Really nice food and plenty of it. We went for breakfast and the food came well presented and was really tasty. The prices were good too, £8.50 for a veggie breakfast and £9.50 for a normal one, both served with a side of toast. The staff were also really nice and approachable. 10/10 would recommend.
N. O.
Excellent quality of food. My burger was hot and my beer was cold. Relaxed and cool vibe. I would be careful with ordering dessert as they are huge. Like the rest of the food they are top quality. I would have given 5 stars but I hate it when they are full and I have to go elsewhere. I know I should book!
C. M.
Good atmosphere, staff are very friendly. Chicken fajitas are the best so delicious! Good sized portion. Also the salmon is also a favourite! It's nice to see what's on the board and try something different. Always recommend to friends and family. One of my favourite restaurants in Edinburgh
C. J. C.
Absolutely brilliant, best steak I've ever had! Great atmosphere, friendly relaxed staff that don't hound you, simple, delicious meals. Nice selection of bottled beers too, what more can you want? Not super cheap but more than worth the price considering the quality.
L. T.
What a find!
Popped into this place to see if there was a need to book for a meal in the evening. We were greeted by a charming young woman who was polite, friendly and helpful. We were informed a booking was advisable although she didn’t think it would be busy. The place was spotlessly clean with a casual but smart atmosphere.
Having exhausted our selves we arrived 4 hours early. Again another pleasant welcome, this time by an equally charming man who couldn’t have been more helpful.
I’m pretty wary of amid afternoon places for a meal because it’s quieter & often the chef is on a split shift and someone else ‘fills-in’.
Not so here.
The two ‘tasty-choice’ menus and blackboard specials were well explained and the order taken. The starter of fried Brie, served with summer fruit compote was beautifully cooked, not greasy and tasty.
As requested our scampi and one medium/rare fillet steak arrived - delicious in its taste & simplicity. My husband, well travelled and ‘fed’, thought the steak to be one of the most memorable he’d ever eaten. Both dishes were accompanied by especially gorgeous fries which had been hand-made on the premises.
Throughout, we were checked on, without bing pestered, to make sure we were happy.
The cooking and service were far superior to the ‘tasting menu’ in the four star hotel in which we were staying.
Highly recommended for quality of food, warmth and efficiency.
A real gem!
M. R.
Although the name suggests BBQ the restaurant is more a burger and steak place. Food was good but could do with a few things more on the menu to offer something more adventurous
R. H.
Friendly staff make this relaxing cafe something extra. Nice area, nice food and nice customers add to the interesting choice of menu. A good sign of a decent place is a slim straight forward menu and this place has it. I had a Richy special (waffles with salted bacon and maple syrup with whipped cream on top. My waffles were a creamy delight, i was gasping for more! so i got a coffee to calm down.
M. R.
Came in for a rather late dinner, super friendly and accommodating. Had the haggis which was outstanding! Very professional and friendly staff, food was spot on. Well priced for drinks and food offered. I can highly recommend this place.
A. K.
High quality food, simply prepared but full of flavors and perfectly cooked. We had a beef burger: chopped steak patty, low fat content but bursting with delicious savory flavor; and the steak and ale pie: absolutely melts in your mouth, accompanied by peak veggies. Friendly service, nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!
A. S.
Amazing burger, good quick service!
L. C.
Just amazing !!! Lovely waiters and on food side:
Start with the whisky tasting ‘subtile’, continue with great creamy mushroom soup!
After that The loch duart salmon : a killing!
The Beef Fillet with the whiskey sauce : you just reach the Heaven!
To finish, the chocolate brownie a delicatessen such as the sticky toffee pudding!
Overall a wonderful journey to the cooking pleasures
A.
Best Steak I have ever had easily.
The Sirloin was cooked to perfection with a slight smoky taste on the outside.
The Fillet Steak was tender and juicy, described as "heavenly".
We couldn't recommend this place more for steak lovers
J. G.
Great place to eat. Nice and relaxed. Went for my daughter's birthday. I sent my steak back as it wasn't the way I ordered it and they replaced it perfectly and were very helpful. I would go again for sure.
A. G.
Seriously one of the nicest steaks I've ever eaten, I am so glad I found this little gem. That staff here are so lovely and nothing is a trouble. Sad I couldn't get a shot in the photo booth (since I was solo) but it is such a great idea. It's lovely inside and very cozy but that steak! It was cooked to absolute perfection, juicy and tender and sooo tasty! I highly recommend getting some garlic butter with it (it makes it taste even better). I also had a dessert the special for that day and that was fantastic, can't quite remember what it was called but it was lemony goodness! Great for a pre playhouse meal, although they sadly don't offer the pre theatre menu during December. I will definitely be back here whenever I make it back to Edinburgh!
M. T.
Best ribs around, meet just falls of the bone. Delicious steak: nice and juicy, cooked perfectly!
Absolutely love this place. Would be 5 stars if it had comfortable seats instead of the metal ones.
C. V.
Sunday lunch with fantastic meat in Edinburgh. We are a family of 5 and amongst us we had rib-eye, sirloin, fillet, chicken salad and the smallest one had the ribs. Prepared to perfection and with great sauces. Drinks were perfect, from the IPA to the cider to the milkshake and smoothie. Highly recommend!
R. T.
Great honest food. On the ball servers and great red wine. Will be back 10/10
N. L.
Pleasant locale in a great spot, the food is simple but practical. Nice meat selections and they take great care in cooking the steaks, quantity is not too plentiful. This is painfully kbvious particularly with the haggis - that is a thin layer on a great presentation (presented like a flan with layers of haggis nips and tatties with a good whiskey sauce).
Prices are not cheap - but that is endemic of that part of.Wdinburgh
J. A.
Excellent place, with delicious meat (different cut, properly aged, coming from a caring butcher). The atmosphere is convivial, the personnel is extremely gentle and caring. We had a very good time there, and will come back in our next trip to Edinburgh.
T. P.
Popped in here for breakfast before a wedding in Edinburgh... don't normally order a 'full english' style breakfast but knew I needed to fill before the long day ahead and omg... this breakfast was absolutely perfect. So so so tasty and the service was quick and friendly. Very affordable prices, particularly considering what you get for it too! Would high recommend!!!
M. D. B.
I went there last year at dinner, I was looking for a burger; the place is very nice and the staff very kind! I ate that I think it's the better angus burger in my entire life! Very very good!
D. F.
Loved it, portion size huge, extremely tasty and great service. Very relaxed.
E. B.
Good to see Smoke Stack open again. Great service as usual.
P. M.
It's been open a long time now and for a good reason, they are good at what they do. The burgers are just the right amount of meat to bun and full of the flavour of the grill. The chips are chunky and homemade. Desserts are classics banoffi pie, sticky toffee pudding etc and again done really well compared to other places serving the standard 3663/Bidfood rubbish.
H. M.
The place was cozy the food was great. I ordered a steak which was made to perfection as well as all the other dishes ordered by my family like the salmon and pie. Our waitress justina was bubbly and so helpful, doing everything with a smile. I highly recommend you to try this place.
M. F.
Just a little off the beaten track, so seems quieter than the tourist places. A nice ambience and friendly staff, standard sort of food from burgers to steak to fish and chips. I had some battered shrimp tails with chilli sauce (a little heavily battered, but very acceptable), and a burger with cheese and bacon. Nothing to complain about, but just a bit...... average. Simple selection of wine and beers, but a pretty good espresso. Give it a try....
D. M.
Went here for breakfast with itison deal, we were late but they were very understanding. They have a great smoothie selection, standard breakfast options and several options for waffles breakfast which is good as it's a wee bit different. Restaurant is clean and well kept, service was great, we sat outside which was lovely except bit too close to cars going up and down broughton street.
W. S.
Fantastic food and plenty of it, great service from friendly staff. However vegetables aren't included with the meal so order them from the extras menue. I had lamb and can recommend it.
K. M.
I'm not 100% sure yet, but so far this place offers the best brunch in Edinburgh. I've yet to find anywhere better. Every dish I've had has been delightful here - although beware (and nearly lost a star) they can't serve alcohol (specifically their wonderful bloody mary) until 11am due to their licence. Not uncommon in the UK but a bit unexpected in Edinburgh. Still 5 stars, give these guys a go.
H. M.
The team here are absolutely awesome, can never do enough for you and MEGA welcoming. Food is incredible, we went back every morning and tried loads from their menu. Again the guys there are the best and when we come to Edinburgh again, we are heading straight to the Smoke Stack!
K. H.
Had brunch at Smoke Stack thanks to a voucher and really enjoyed our waffles and smoothies! The decor is stylish and the food was great; service could have been a bit cheerier but nothing major to complain about! Would def go again.
D. H.
Great meal and service, we highly recommend will definitely be back
D. S.
What a wonderful evening we had last Saturday. Justine with her enchanting smile worked so hard, along with the rest of the staff, to give all 17 of us a meal to remember. The food, wine, service and atmosphere were all excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend Smoke Stack.
G. Y.
Very nice for authentic Scottish breakfast! Very friendly staff - Katie was just delightful and made the visit exquisite - ask for her to wait for you.
J.
Delicious steak. It's hard for me to appreciate restaurant steak these days because unless it's top notch they're all very similar. But smoke stack is the best steak I've had since Peter Luger (1 michellin star steak house in NYC). I'm not saying they taste similar, but they're both equally unique and delicious. Definitely can't miss if you're in Edinburgh and love steak. Haggis with neeps and tatties was great too
A. A.
Came here for brunch when I was hungover and got steak (medium rare rump) & eggs - £12. Maybe my history of steak-eating is fairly limited, but to date this was the best steak I have ever tasted. I have dreams about this steak and I think about it regularly.
To be honest, I've seen a few decent places around London, I'm sure they all cook a great steak too, but they are all 4-5 times the cost. Would not leave Edinburgh without eating here
L. E.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere with delicious food 👍
C. L.
Great place if you are looking for gluten free options! The waffles are delicious!! So happy to have so much choice on the menu!!
Highly recommended! :)
B. W.
Simple, quality burger with homemade chips. Reasonably priced given the location. Beautiful space. Sticky toffee pudding has molasses = little bit bitter after bake.
S. B.
Amazing food and very friendly, smiley staff! Highly recommend the breakfast/brunch - especially the vegetarian breakfast. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the city.
R. P.
Great breakfast. Enjoyed the waffles. Good choice for brunch. Busy but didn't feel that way when seated. Service was quick considering how busy. Staff friendly.
H. W.
Cute and cozy little spot with nice staff and yummy food.
Neighborhood is cute and near little shops. There is some outdoor seating which is magic on a sunny day. I ordered this waffle with salmon and it was delicious!
D. P.
Obviously popular as it was packed. We were in the small side room - which had far too many tables and chairs for the space so that it was uncomfortable and noisy. Staff were attentive, but it was a bit expensive in my mind for the quality of the food - which only was OK.
L. M.
I came here for a pre-theatre meal deal (2 courses for £12 I think...)
I was chuffed with the vegetarian options and had soup and a salad. The other options seemed quite stodgy but all the food looked good.
The goats cheese salad was amazing, I highly recommend.
G. M.
Food was nice and price reasonable. Felt for a lunchtime the menu was limited. Would have been nice to have option like hot baguettes and sandwiches. Very close to playhouse theatre.
S. H.
Absolutely amazing. Super friendly staff and the food is sublime!
M. Q.
Place looks great, has a chilled feel about it.
The food choice was very nice, service was fast and very friendly, when the food arrived it look great and taste great. Will be back and will recommend to friends
A. L.
Had my first visit here in early March 2014 and wasn't disappointed. Friendly staff, a lovely ambiance and fantasticly hip surroundings. Service was incredibly speedy, with short waits in between courses which was impressive considering how busy the place was. The speed absolutely did not compromise the quality though.
We ordered chilli con carne nachos to share and both went with the 5oz beef burger. The meat in both courses was superb, incredibly succulent and fresh. Likewise the side dishes were all obviously handmade and the ingredients freshly sourced, which makes a nice change from the frozen veg you find in a lot of Edinburgh's more casual hotspots.
My partner had the banoffee pie, which he enjoyed but felt was a little overly deconstructed - it was whipped cream, atop whole banana pieces, atop a layer of toffee, atop biscuit. Although delicious, it was a little overwrought.
All in all a fantastic dinner with speedy service at a decent price point and in trendy surroundings. Would definitely recommend!
J. G.
We went for diner on a Sunday night with 4 other friends. The food was excellent, cheap and the waitress was very kind. I recommend the garlic bread and the mussels. Very good place indeed.
L. M.
Friendly and helpful staff good menu
G. H.
I Discovered Smoke Stack a couple of years ago after getting a voucher for brunch from one of the deal sites. My wife and I went had waffles and coffee all of which was very tasty. As we were getting near to finishing overheard the guy who appeared to be in charge having a loud rant to one of the waitresses about how he hated people coming in with vouchers because they never bought anything.
A little over a year later and a large group of around 12 of us went for brunch. Again Very tasty waffles, French toast and general cooked breakfast goodies. Sadly my wife got a bad mussel and was ill for a few days after. While this is bad luck and no fault of the restaurant it may be a while before we go back.
Although the Canadian bacon waffle is a thing of beauty
O. J.
I travel a lot with work so eat out more than I should, and this is hands down my favourite place in Edinburgh; simple but delicious food, friendly staff, great service, relaxed atmosphere, fair prices. What's not to love?
R. d. R.
Great food; hard to choose!
Kidfriendly.
C. B.
Breakfast was delicious but I couldn't go off menu and build my own, but the waitress was helpful and spun it so I could.have what I wanted and also it was a little pricey.
S. G.
Lovely little place. Delicious brunch and great service.
J. P.
First time I have been in although I have been living nearby for many years. Possibly because of the new look of the restaurant (you can see in from the outside). Very pleasant experience, good food, well priced and served with a smile. What else do you want. I will be back.
l. j.
Great staff, excellent burgers.

The Smoke Stack is a strategically placed eatery in the Broughton Street area of Edinburgh that caters for meat lovers, ideal for family brunch, business lunches (WiFi available and pretty strong too) & pre-theatre dinner.
My friends and I went there after a long day in a pretty ravenous state. I ordered the double burger plus bacon, jalapeños & Orkney Cheddar. The two patties were perfectly cooked, juicy and super tasty, a real treat!
My mates went through a home-made Steak & Ale Pie with mashed potatoes, green beans and julienne cut carrots and a Chicken Fajita with the usual attached paraphernalia.
The Steak & Ale Pie was subtle in flavour but with character and the Chicken Fajita was hot and spicy but with enough “room” so the hotness was not masquerading the main flavours.
All in all it was a very positive (and affordable) culinary experience.
The service was adequate and a bit aloof at times as more attention to detail (aka: what-is-happening-on-the-floor) was needed.
The place interiors are really cool with stripped stone all encapsulated with a retro-style approach. Will certainly pay them another visit!!!
M. G.
Excellent brunch, not too pricey with friendly staff in lovely surroundings. Hard to fault, with a few special treats on their menu!
G. H.
Popped in for brunch. Great service and lovely fresh food. Large glass if iced water was a nice touch too.
S. W.
Delicious Breakfasts, burgers and steaks. Beautiful restaurant, wonderful staff. The best experience.
E. T.
Tasty food and good atmosphere. Portions good size and fair choice on menu. A bit pricey but expect that for that part of town.
I. B.
Have been here several times but went for the three course £12 deal, great value and great food. The burgers are amazing and they care about the meat. Brilliant
S. A.
Great food and amazingly friendly staff. I stayed in Edinburgh for 7 days and at there at least 6 times because it felt so welcoming. I highly recommend it!
S. K.
Really nice stakes but very expensive & lacked on the rest of the place as it came with chips or a salad and chips were not great or stake chips and salad was tiny.
G. M.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the team were welcoming and attentive. Really good burger. Would definitely go back.
b. f.
Friendly staff, great cheesecake and burger but let down by frozen chips. Will definitely go back. Note: set lunch menu not available in Dec don't think they mention this on their website
O. H.
We booked the Scottish Dinner experience via Airbnb and had a great time. Good food, good drinks and an excellent host. Great event!
M. W.
Had a really late lunch here but service was still good! Fresh scampi fritters were amazing! And so was the Scottish pie!
B. A.
Just got back from dinner at this suggested steakhouse by our nearby hotel. Although steaks and accompanying sides were decent, the price paid was as a True Steakhouse- service average-cocktails average(martini)- ambiance average- food average--$$$ high!
S. d. M.
Great little bistro with a good menu, good coffee and good service. Avoid the crowds next door at "The Artisan"; coffee here is just as good, and you can actually get a table!
Z. S.
Great food! Burger, steak, pie, salads, everything was very tasty. Very friendly and motivated staff as well as reasonable prices.
M. A.
Good bacon and avo sandwich for breakfast! The avo wasn't evenly distributed on the sandwich so the edges were a little bare and dry. Or maybe the avo was just small. In either case it would have needed a bit more avo to get a 5 star rating.
D. S.
We stumbled upon the place by accident and went for a few starters followed by bacon waffles. We were pleasantly surprised how well everything got together. 5 stars, hands down the best place for brunch in Edinburgh. We'll be back to try the steaks!
O. M.
Open for breakfast. Fantastic real sausages from Crombies Butchers just up the street. As good as a buttie gets. Proper tea in a tea pot completed the simplest of meals. Well worth a visit.
R. S.
Good restaurant. Lovely staff. Super food.
P. C.
I just happened to be in the area and popped in for some brunch. Although the place ind of feels like a big steak place, they also happen to make a mean brunch. I had the waffles with huevos rancheros and they were delicious. I will def go back
G. J.
Perfect spot for breakfast, with a good range of options on the menu. Service was prompt and friendly. Keep up the good work.
K. M.
Great location with lovely outside area, unfortunately was closed when I was there so will have to go back when it’s open 😊
I. O. S.
Reasonably priced menu for breakfast, lunch & dinner. They serve well brewed coffee too! Would definitely recommend a visit!
S. L.
Good service, great prices, tasty food, wonderful desserts! Will definitely visit again. A nice relaxed feel to the place.
T. B.
Food was delicious and very reasonable prices. Very chilled atmosphere and friendly staff, will definitely be visiting again. X
J. M.
Very friendly & dedicated staff (we really like the staff)...comfortable ombience..good fresh food and my wife loves the "cajun chicken salad". We recommend you give it a go!
K. S.

This looked like a small "hole in the wall" place but had a great breakfast and was much bigger than it appeared from the outside. Would have gone back but wanted to try as many different places as possible.

Not bad but had us cramped into a small space near the window when there were other tables free throughout the duration of our stay.

Not much of a variety for vegetarians, and a note to say on the menu that you can't ask for any variations on the menu, so for breakfast, vegetarians are left with the full veggie breakfast or avocado on toast.
H. B.
Really tasty steaks and burgers and friendly staff. They also have a respectable sustainability policy which is nice to see.
H. P.

Service was okay, waitresses were polite. Food was okay overall. Do NOT get the Steak Frites, it's a tiny burnt bit of meat coated in salt with chips. All other steaks are well cooked and proper sized. Quite expensive but good quality.
