I love jamon so I was excited to try the jamon bocadillos. I came 2 days in a row and unfortunately they were out of stock both days, so when I came the third day the owner gave me a sandwich on the house! Lovely sandwich and lovely owner, I will be going back next week for another!

It’s a place that serves typical Spanish tapas as tortilla, croquettes, Serrano ham. You can order also from the menu. Inside there is a shop corner to buy Spanish food and also the pan and the seasoning and spices to cook a perfect paella. For now it is byob and the staff is nice and competent. Try it!

I was meant to leave a good review a couple of months ago! Sorry for the delay... this is without a doubt the best Spanish restaurant in Edinburgh. I moved here from Spain 2 years ago. My partner and I miss Spain's food very much so we have been trying different restaurants here in Edinburgh. All of them have been pretty disappointing, except for this one! The service is great, and the food is just perfect. Delicious, fresh, authentic... The real thing! We were so happy to taste all those familiar flavours once again, thank you so much for your kindness and your amazing service and food. Will come back to get our jamón in Christmas!! A genuinely Spanish tapas cafe. I have only been once and had the taster menu... So this is based on very limited experience. The menu is limited but has a few interesting choices. I can't say the food set my taste buds tingling. I've had tapas in various places in Spain which either came free with drinks or cost very little with a huge range of choice... albeit from a few different bars. Prices in Black Hoof however were pretty high. On a high note they have a good range of high quality hams for sale. Bear in mind I've only been once.

Simple Spanish tapas done really well. The jamon are the star of the show, and the owner, Carlos really knows his jamon. Great selection, expertly cut so you can really appreciate their quality. A great wee find in Edinburgh, on a road that has a lot of interesting wee restaurants. Good wine selection, and a very good value wine by the glass. I lived in Spain until I was 5 years old and as I was walking into The Black Hoof this evening my memories of San Juan de Arbo came flooding back! We used to have a jamon leg hanging in our kitchen and my brother and I would beg Mum for another slice often! I only popped in and picked up some Iberico ham as I was passing but I will be travelling the 12 mile round trip again soon just to eat here.
