Excellent dining experience. Quiet and very accommodating. We were brought out multiple small servings of appetizers as the meal progressed to keep our appetites ready. The customer service was excellent! I appreciated the atmosphere of the restaurant and the lighting.

We messed up a reservation and this was 'second best' however if we go back to Edinburgh this would be first choice. The food, service and atmosphere was lovely and the staff were even nice enough to ask us if we wanted a coffee when we were last to leave. If I could give this place 6 stars I would.

If I could add another star to this review I would. We had a memorable experience at this restaurant, the food was excellent and the service was impeccable. We had the 3 course meal which was plenty starting with the scallops and the cauliflower dishes. We then had the beef filet and for dessert the rubarb tart and the cheese plate. I will definitely recommend and return for dinner at The Stockbridge.

A very atmospheric restaurant with only 14 tables, so quite intimate, with low volume background music and low lighting in the basement. We were served by the head waitress who was excellent throughout the evening. Took our drinks and food orders, corrects the owner when she brought the wrong beer, brought the bill without being asked and saw us out. The best service we have seen anywhere in the world and she’s Scottish too. The food was great from bread, amuse bouchée to starter through to dessert. A limited set menu but interesting Scottish produce.

Is really really good, from bread starter to finished everything cooked perfectly, I also like the way their dessert not overly sweet and have some sourness to balance make it very appetising even after full up. Definitely the best restaurant I had in Edinburgh .Value for money too. Will definitely come back for another day.

What a fabulous find! I can't believe we've not eaten here before. Just had the most wonderful 3 course meal for 2 with drinks and aperitifs for under £100. The service is excellent and it's all the other little additional extras that make it so special - delicious bread and oils, the amuse-bouche and pre-desserts - the attention to detail is incredible. The surroundings are tastefully decorated and additional safety measures are done with subtlety in mind We enjoyed it so much we've re-booked for another meal in a fortnight's time!

One of the best meals to be had in Edinburgh. The pork starter was extremely filling but tasted exceptional. Chicken and chorizo main was also delectable and a black seal rum gingerbeer to go with it. Lovely small intimate venue that deserves all 5 stars.

First proper meal out in what felt like a very long time and wanted to try somewhere we had never been to before. This was very much an excellent choice. I didn't come and get a meal. I got an experience. The atmosphere, professionalism and great service was top notch. The food was an absolute mind melting pleasure. It was portioned perfectly, locally sourced and created with precision and craftsmanship that I have never imagined. There is a minor wait for the food, but as the saying goes: you can't rush perfection. And that's what my night was here. It was perfect. Currently the COVID measures here are quite cleverly implemented in a safe, non intrusive addition of well positioned barriers. I felt safer here than anywhere else. All in all a fantastic end of my day. I'd give it 6/5 stars if I could and next time I'm up in Scotland I will certainly be back.

Booked our table for 18:00. The great service started as soon as we were shown to our table. We had the 3 course meal. Superbly cooked for. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and service. My wife and I have a lovely meal here. The staff were very accommodating and polite, and the food was delicious. The restaurant has a very relaxed and welcoming feel offset by the understated decor, all in all a very pleasurable experience.

Great food but overly complex 'fixed price' menu system and glacial service. Deserves all the praise for the menu and the quality of the food however the so called fixed price menu is no such thing. There are so many supplements involved that it's hard to achieve the advertised price unless you restrict yourself to half of the available menu. Why not just have an a la carte and let people decide for themselves?

I went there for San Valentine's day with my partner. I found the service impeccable in this small, cosy and quiet restaurant. The waitress even used a tissue to bring plates and cutlery without touching them. The dishes were amazing. The beef cheeks starter was a little basic but delicious. The sear with pawn spring rolls and risotto was an amazingly balanced mixture of flavors. Both venison and angus were perfectly cooked and delicious. The desserts (chocolate brûlée and plum crumble) were a little disappointing compared to the main dishes, but they were fine enough to keep up the final score. The price was quite high: 50 pounds each for three courses including wine, but it's worth for a special occasion

We absolutely loved this place. It was great from start to finish. It's prefect for a wee date night as it's cosy and lots of tables in corners to hide away at. The best thing for me was the cheese board. I've never been somewhere where you get 10 different types of cheese and the waitress being able to rhyme each and every one off. Service is great. We left here feeling like we'd eaten like kings.

Bit of an odd experience at dinner - staff were very friendly but comically disorganized and there was absolutely zero atmosphere in the restaurant because apparently their music system was broken. We could awkwardly hear the conversation of all the diners around us and felt we had to whisper the entire night. However the food was delicious and reasonably priced and as I said the staff were friendly and trying their best. So 4 stars after all.

The Stockbridge Restaurant is St Stephen Street’s secret (albeit a well known one) and as you descend the steps you enter a cosy, relaxing and welcoming space to sample the freshest products Scotland has to offer. We had a great meal and will certainly be returning to sample the next season’s delights.
