Reviews of Vinyasa
V.
The food was delicious and fast served.
We had the garlic Naan TWICE, because it was so good!
Can recommend the Biryani with prawns!
P. !.
This was an excellent restaurant so good I visited twice, two days consecutively (I never do that). The food was great on both occasions. Don't let the portion size fool you. To start it doesn't look enough but when you finish it is more than enough. It is good service, good food and food value. Lived it. I particularly enjoyed the Bangladeshi meals rather than the more common "go to" dishes. Very much worth trying the Vinyasa specials. Iiked it My family liked it.
P. H.
The food and the service was excellent definitely worth a visit if you're in Edinburgh 😊
L. S.
Really flavorful and fragrant spices in all our dishes. Was a bit disappointed in the samosas, but everything else we had was really delicious. Very nice people as well.
S. O.
We visited Vinyasa whilst staying in Edinburgh, the food was delicious and the customer service was amazing.
Beautifully decorated and very clean. Would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to go there, probably the best food we have tasted and the staff were great fun, happy and amazing customer service. Thank you all
J. B.
4 of us were staying at the Travelodge across the road from this restaurant and decided to try it because of its proximity! What a choice, the food was fabulous, we'll cooked and tasty. The service was great and the staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
S. F.
Amazing food and amazing service. Never had a better curry and the servers were professional and welcoming. Lovely atmosphere, clean, also had an excellent wine selection.
G. B.
Great service and lovely restaurant. Staff were quick to serve and food was absolutely perfect, probably the nicest most flavoursome Indian I’ve ever had. Highly recommended.
V. T.
very good food, great portions as well - the garlic naan is amazing. the staff was so sweet and caring. would definitely come again!
k. k.
Fantastic food and service. I ordered the jalfrezi w chicken and garlic naan and it was some of the best Bengal/Indian food I have had. Staff were friendly and my food was ready right on time. Would give 6 stars if I could.
D. S.
First time I've used this restaurant for take away. Nice staff, but slightly vague about timings. Ordered a couple of tandoori dishes. Told they'd be ready in 15 mins. Turned up on time... It took another 15 mins to produce the food. On the whole the food was tasty. Lamb was a bit tough but chicken and sausage lovely. Prawn was quoted as part of the meal. Sadly there were two inedible shells with no meat. Ordered a plain naan. Sweet naan was included. Cost £22.50 and I can't say good value for the money.
K. F.
A game of 2 halfs. Walked in no one welcomed me. Then finally greeted me and sat me down. Strange service. The food though was fantastic. The shisk kebab and naga tikka were good. Then through the meal the service improved.
D. S.
Fantastic tasty Indian food, excellent service and friendly.
Really enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend.
N. S.
Visiting from Newcastle and was looking for somewhere nice to eat. Walked past this place by chance and thought I'd give it a try. Did not regret it. Food arrived quickly and the service was great. The Lamb Chops are unreal! Wings were also delicious. Not overly spiced like most places. Balanced flavoured and balanced spices. Highly recommended.

Wonderful food - visited both nights we were in Edinburgh - location great - just across road from Travelodge in St Marys Street
M. M.
Great Indian place that served 13 people very quickly. Food was great and prices was reasonable. I had the chicken pakora starter and lamb chops main and vegetable birini side.
M. C.
Delightful staff and owner, absolutely delicious food. Go here if you can! Thank you, friends.
T. D.
This is an excellent restaurant. We were just visiting for a few days. The reastuarant has just re-opened after being shut for a year. But the food was great, the service was great and reasonable value. Definitely worth trying this place the whole family enjoyed it..
D. F.
This is a gem of a restaurant in the center of town. They accepted us without a reservation on a busy Friday night, whipped up some fantastic vegetable pakoras and onion bhajis, lovely prawn, chicken and lamb curries for main, supported with piping hot peshwari and garlic naan - all in great speed and without fuss - a wonderful find in a very busy city
C. R.
A reqular visit to Vinyasa and they never disappoint, good food, we found the meals to be a little on the hot side, plenty of cold beer helped.
D. F.
Two problems with my main course largely due to misunderstanding between staff members. Quickly put right and to my satisfaction. Would visit again.
R. J.
Been there many times ..nice food good Service ...see you soon......
J. R.

Best restaurant. Really worth going here. Taste of Indian spices.
G. F.
The food was delicious. Friendly service.

We had a lovely takeaway from Vinyasa. They were very accommodating, we wanted items fro the main menu that weren't on the takeaway one but it was no problem. Delicious flavours. We will go back and eat in later this week. 😝
K. M.
Very friendly, very helpful, and very good food!
R. T.
Quite fancied a curry after a long day of sight seeing (don't ask why) and this place was top of the list having seen it everyday as we stayed across the road! Did not disappoint at all.
The kebabs were cooked to perfection and still very succulent. The curries were a very generous portion and did not skimp on the meat or flavour (which some do). Really loved their jalfrezi.
Service was very warm and friendly. Wish I'd considered a curry earlier in the trip as I would definitely come again.
A.
We eat alot of Indian food, We were not disappointed with vinyasa. The flavours were authentic and delicious, the service was quick and friendly. We loved it so much, we are going back again today ( we ate there yesterday!!) Thank you for a lovely meal :)
J. W.
Really lovely curry and experience at Vinyassa on a Sunday evening- it was quiet and not many diners but we didn't let that put us off (it was late on a Sunday in early March after all!)
The guys provided excellent service and were really attentive, were able to give us some great curry recommendations. curry portion size was perfect, the rices are a little on the small side but then we usually share so I would advise on a rice portion per person.
Shame no yogurt dip on the pickle tray but that really was our only minor critique. Definitely worth seeking out when in old town Edinburgh if you're a fan of a decent curry!
A. C.
Really impressed with the food here! Second time in the space of a couple months and was just as good as the first time! Would definitely recommend the lamb chops, my fave thing on the menu! Staff are so lovely and friendly, just what you need! Can’t wait to come back!
L. J.
Food was top notch, service was excellent.
We had a party of 9 as it was a work night out, throughout the entire evening staff were making conversation and ensuring we had drinks.
We shared food so got a good variety, even as a fussy eater everything was brilliant.
And at the end, considering how much food and drink we ordered, the bill was very reasonable.
S. V.
Nice colourful place very smart and friendly staff we were a party of 8 no problems whatsoever we had a few mis placed orders but correct efficiently
V. D.
Delicious, well prepared, excellent service, portions a bit small.
J. B.
Lovely food and attentive staff
J. A.
Was recommended this place by a friend and it definitely didn’t disappoint! Ordered the salmon curry as recommended by the staff who were very friendly and knowledgeable and it was brilliant. They had a lovely selection of vegetarian dishes and we ordered a sag paneer which was ridiculously flavoursome by our standards! (My wife is vegetarian and the number of different restaurants we’ve been to, she hasn’t enjoyed a sag paneer this much in a while!) can’t recommend enough and will definitely be back next time we are in Edinburgh!
A. C.
Delicious food, friendly waitstaff. Good portion size for travelers, since there won't be leftovers. A little pricey, but about what you'd expect in the heart of a city. Significantly cheaper if you order takeout. I highly recommend the Tarka Dhal.
P. M.
I extremely enjoyed my visit, the service was exceptional, very friendly team who make you feel welcomed and at home. The food was the best quality Indian food I have had in a long time. I will 100% be revisiting with family and friends soon and look forward to it.
D. M.
My good was the best curry I've ever tasted . Its put Cambridge to shame. I've not had a curry since after what we had with you. And the stuff was so friendly. Can't wait to visit again soon. Thank you so much for a lovely meal
S.
Highly recommend Vinyasa, staff are very friendly and there is no rush from you getting the menu to finishing your meal. They also don't frown on us single diners, I was made to feel very welcome and was not rushed even though on my own. The food is delicous and reasonably priced. A must visit, just off the Royal Mile.
S. P.
I tend not to write reviews.
I consider myself a bit of a curry connoisseur so whilst visiting Edinburgh I thought I would give Vinyasa a try.
We ordered the starters and mains. The tikka masala was very good indeed but the main reason for this review was my Chicken Balti.
Absolutely sensational. I often find under seasoning in many other Indian restaurants but this was perfect for me. Would recommend 100%. Th
D. G.
One of the best Currys I have ever had. Interior is nice and the service is excellent. A real gem in a city full of mediocre eating relying on passing trade. If you like a curry, you need to eat here.
S. M.
Good food, reasonably priced. Starter sizes were a little on the small size but the chana puri i had was great. Vegetarian section could have been bigger given the extensive meat options but what i had was great really good.
R.
In town for 4 days, ordered a Takeaway on last night. Super friendly staff, rapid delivery. Great menu and prices. Absolutely stunning food, will be our goto when we all come back! Epic.
C.
Great place for authentic SPICY Bengali and traditional Indian dishes, including veg or non veg. (Be sure to order a mild dish - a number offered - if you prefer mild) Really appreciated the hospitality of letting us quickly change our seat when a cosy window booth became available and on a Saturday night!
A.
I would have given four stars but I'm giving it five to balance out unjustified 1-star reviews! Went with my Dad and got a vegetarian set meal for 2, which cost £35. Not super cheap, sure, but the food was excellent- there were three dishes to choose from for the main course and the starters were decent too. Washed down with some £4.95, 660ml cobras, yum!
J. W.
Best chicken naga..ever. If you are anywhere close, go!
b. R.
we came to vinyasa more then three times last few months.Food always great . Service very friendly .My favourite curry in Edinburgh .see you soon.

Service was quick and staff were very polite and respectful. Food was delicious and exactly as described on menu. Portions were just the right size. Will visit agin, looking forward to it.

Outstanding! Went to many Indian restaurants in Edinburgh but this has to be the best! The service was amazing and the food was absolutely delicious. Definitely would recommend this restaraunt if your looking for a 5* experience!
J. M.
Amazing! Can’t rate the restaurant high enough. The food was delicious, the best Indian I’ve had in while and the staff were fab, very attentive, lovely atmosphere. Thank you guys
J. I.
Food is quite good, not top notch, but 7 out of 10. The service isn't too nice, hurried, cold, bland. Location is nice and the interior is clean. Food comes fast, but they also direct you out quite fast. Not many smiles from the staff here.
J. D.
Good Subcontinent Al restraunt with a good but not huge choice. Food was well cooked and presented. The serving staff were polite and efficient. A busy place too.
D. G.

had my first curry chicken bhuna since lockdown and it was fabulous...😍
M. S.
Delicious food and affordable on a student budget. Right next to my university residence hall too. My only complaint is that they are sometimes a little slow, but they always make up for with some free poppadom or beer!
K. B.

I would highly recommend this place amazing food and very friendly staff. The manager (Raj) was really friendly looked after us. Thank you
S. D. S.
My personal favourite is the chicken tikka and keema balti – grilled chicken, pot roasted with minced lamb, ginger, garlic and selected herbs and spices.
It’s fantastic and the combination of chicken and mince works an absolute treat.
The simple lamb and potato balti is also worth trying. It’s like a spicy, Indian version of Irish stew. Well done people
J. K.
Food was really tasty. Excellent choice on the menu. Good service.
S. M.
Excellent food, tasted delicious, service brilliant, even accommodated for a dish not on the menu! Would definitely recommend
R. B.
Fantastic food and outstanding service. My brother has a peanut allergy and they were extremely careful. I can't recommend this place enough.

The Vinyasa restaurant have recently launched a Monday Curry Club, where every 4 weeks they offer up a new selection of Indian and Bengali/Bangladeshi cuisine and we were kindly invited along and try out their dishes for May. After a day wandering around Edinburgh, it was good to nip down a quiet side street (just off the Royal Mile) and get away from the crowded streets. Inside the restaurant is modernly styled and brightly decorated so we had high hopes that the food would be just as fresh and stylish.
For £14.95 you get three courses, with a choice of two for the starters and a choice of three for the mains. I went for the Fiaza – lentil pakora. Crisp, not greasy at all like some pakora can be. Very light tasting. It was a little strange as I’m used to pakora with chunks of vegetable or meat. Ideal for a starter.
Mr D went for Shami Kebab, which is basically a burger of meat, chickpeas and spices. The two slices was a large portion, so good if you are hungry but too much for Mr D (and even me). The spices were very strong (but not hot) and overpowered the dish. We both thought grilling the burger would be in tune with our tastebuds. Chicken Saag – the king of meat. Mr D loved this. A good amount of spinach, tasty and tender melt-in-the-mouth chicken and full of flavour. Again the portion was a good size. Lamb with spices and baby potatoes. I love lamb curries and this one hit the spot again. Tender and almost fragile lamb pieces fell off the bone. The potatoes soaked in the spicy coating. A good balance of meat and potato in order to enjoy both parts.
We were recommended the Tarka Dhal to go with the lamb. It was a little too smooth for me, but Mr D loved it. The fried onions permeated the dhal and went well with the rice and chicken. Gulub Jamun for dessert – Thumbs up from both myself and Mr D, deliciously creamy ice cream and cardamom tasting Gulub’s completed a good meal.
Overall, friendly helpful service and good location, if you like meat on the bone then this is well worth the money for the meaty flavours and big portions (so big that we even had a doggy bag to take away with us and Mr Foodie had this for lunch the following day so he was very happy!). Although the spices used were strong, heat-wise the dishes were mild, so if you’re looking for something hot you may have to ask for extra spices or go for something from the regular menu. Recommend for a Monday night back-to-work cheer up.
P. B.
Pretty much the average Indian resteraunt. Food was fine, staff were fine, decor was fine. I won't remember anything about it in a month and I've already forgotten what I ate.
S. M. E. U.
Was visiting some friends at the Travelodge and we were recommended this restaurant by the hotel staff. What a great find. Nice trendy place. Great food. Deep recommend.

Having tried 2 more indian restaurants in Edinburgh, we settled for Vinyasa. Very tasty food and good service as well. If you are looking for good Indian food in and around royal mile, don't look elsewhere. And you folks staying in travelodge central, this restaurant is just opposite door for you. They even give take away.
A. v. W.
Food was good but not the best. The waiter was very sullen and unresponsive. Had to wave him down for bill and go to bar to pay as he wasn't paying any attention.
R. J.
I would highly recommend to anyone who likes curry, fantastic restaurant, food was excellent as was the service even during the very busy eat out to help out period.

(Translated) Very tasty food and very friendly service. It only took a few minutes from ordering to eating. It doesn't get any better than that. Absolutely fair in price.

(Translated) Good restaurant, despite not too sophisticated appearances. There is also a wide choice for vegetarians / vegans. Beware of spicy, I recommend checking with the waiter before ordering. The portion of rice is not abundant, it is only for one person. The main course is enough to be shared.

(Translated) Excellent restaurant offering quality dishes at an acceptable price. It is clear that Asian cuisine must be appreciated a priori in order to better appreciate the dishes offered. The staff is professional and kind.
