Reviews of Cail Bruich

Celebrated my birthday here back in January with the Chef’s Table Experience. Fabulous food prepared by an elite chef team. The whole experience lasted around 3 hours with 12 courses served including starters and dessert. The initial novelty wore off as the team kept cooking same dishes for all guests, however it was worthwhile to witness the orderly preparation of the whole process. Menu evolves over time so I would definitely recommend to revisit every other time.

Came here for a birthday treat, wasn't disappointed! Superb attention to detail and presentation, lovely knowledgeable staff, and a menu that thoughtfully highlighted a range of great ingredients. Unfortunately, I was driving so was unable to enjoy the wines with my meal, but would love to return to do so!

Went here for brothers birthday.
Food was special, each dish had its own story and the wine pairing/explanation of why they went with each dish was great.
Can't recommend this highly enough. Will be back.

This was our first visit to Cail Bruich. Food and service was excellent, what you'd expect from a Michelin star restaurant. Staff are very knowledgeable about the dishes they serve. We had the chefs tasting menu and was great. One thing that stopped it getting 5 stars was the manner in which a dessert was served, far from Michelin standard or any acceptable standard. This was dealt with at the time with a manager.

Fabulous taster menu at this stunning gem & newly crowned michelin star restaurant in Glasgows vibrant west end. Staff are well versed in in the superb ingredients and the enthusiasm for their craft is palpable. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommend you give it a visit.

The most delicious and delightful meal I have ever had. The staff were so friendly and informative that it was oa wonderful experience.

This is one of the best experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. The chef's table experience is phenomenal - the staff are so attentive, fun, and also know when to leave you to it. Watching the chefs at work is like paying to go to the theatre. The waiters even noticed which hands I held my cutlery in and automatically started laying them in "my" right position for me, without even asking. Attention to detail is amazing, food is just delicious. I can't recommend this enough. Just wow.

Yesterday was my first visit since Cail Bruich gained it's Michelin Star. So well deserved as we were served amazing food and wine in smart but relaxed surroundings by friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food was delicious and beautiful presented, served with great wines. Fergus the sommelier was very passionate and knowledgeable about the wines and did a really brilliant job of explaining why they were the ideal pairing for each dish. I would highly recommend and will definitely be back.

I've been coming to this restaurant for years but I've just had my first time back signed they gained their Michelin star and it did not disappoint. It was always my favourite restaurant in Glasgow but they have managed to exceed even themselves. It is pricey but worth the treat. Exceptional.
E. M.
We had the tasting menu with classic pairing. Every course with the wine pairing were utterly amazing every little bit of beautifully cooked and so thought about beautiful tasty food. The staff were amazing, profesional and so nice. We will definitely back one day. Thank you.

Cail Bruich has had a great kitchen for as long as I can remember, from way back last decade. Recently it was awarded a Michelin star - absolutely deserved. I went for the first time since it got its star on 26 January 2022 to celebrate my birthday with my wife and a friend. A superb evening. Service just so. The food exqusitely delicious and varied. It was a tasting menu. As treat to myself I chose the superior wine flight. As a wine nerd, absolute heaven! Fergus, the sommelier who looked after us, was not just knowledgeable but a pleaasure to have accompanying us through our wine journey. Other staff did the same for the food. Value for money is not really the question. It's what are you willing to spend (I appreciate there is also how much you have) to have one of life's experiences. If extraordinary dining is your thing, this is for you. No doubt, by any standards, anywhere.

We pick the seasonal menu (3 sets)
Which is perfect for, if you have more room, should try their taste menu.
- scallop is tender mixed with hearty garden sweetness
- grill sea bass perfect in perfect sauce
- must have their pitaschio ice-cream

Service was pretty faultless, very friendly and attentive, whilst remaining non intrusive. In fact it was great to people watch all the front of house staff work, as there was loads of little nods and nudges as they all worked superbly well together to deliver top class service.
The food... The food was great, we had the tasting menu, and all the courses were very good and a few of them exceptional. The canapés possibly outshone a few of the actual courses in places.
Slight criticisms that stopped this being a 5 star review, at times towards the end of the meal the gaps between courses slightly dragged. Not every course was exceptional, but im not sure if that is down to my expectation of a michellin starred restaurant or the chefs on the day/the menu. Its hard to remain totally objective on this point. With a tasting menu, there are always a couple of things you wouldnt usually order. Overall a really good dining experience, and really glad we went.

Had a really good time here tonight. Every dish is delicious and a piece of art! And thank you all for the special surprise for my birthday!
K. A. P.
Representative of exactly the kind of restaurant that is blowing stereotypes about food in the greater UK out of the water. You might not even recognize half the ingredients on the menu but go with it anyway, trust the staff - you won't be disappointed if you come with an open mind and a hungry belly.
A. T.
Cosy place, friendly staff, great for a romantic date or dinner for one (my case)... Choice of: a la carte menu or 2x tasting menus perfectly paired by the sommelier... Good quality produce and inventive dishes, perfectly executed...

This was our first time in Cail Bruich and it was fantastic.
Both food and drink were brilliant and it was delivered by super knowledgeable and attentive staff.
This is a well deserved Michelin Star and I would happily recommend it to anyone wanting a fine dining experience in Glasgow.
R. M.
Excellent restaurant in the west end of Glasgow. Friendly staff who are obviously passionate about their food and service. Would definitely recommend to foodie types.
I. A.
Exceptional food from the tasting menu, and service that cannot be beaten. Absolutely stunning thanks to all who made it happen.
I. C.
Absolutely perfect. Food , as expected, exquisitely presented and a taste sensation and the staff made the whole night extremely relaxed and enjoyable. Hope to return soon, bookings permitting. Cannot recommend highly enough and thoroughly deserves every plaudit received.
A. K.
Fantastic food, great wines, and a first class service. If you had to complain about one thing, it would be that you can’t book a table for months. It’s a special place and it belongs to Glasgow.
J. S.
Wow what a culinary experience. Hard to choose the best dish as they were all excellent, however the cheese course is unique & a great surprise so give it a try. Felt very safe & the service faultless just waiting to book another time. Well done to the whole team.
I. S.
Had an amazing lunch yesterday with my dear friends. Tasting menu amazing, impossible to pick a favourite. No superlative descriptive enough for this amazing experience. Chris and Fergus looked after us so well and made my 70th birthday an amazing experience. No wonder they are fully booked until September.

Never had such a difficult time getting a reservation in my life, but well worth it! Food was superb. One of the best desserts I have ever had and this is coming from someone with a massive sweet tooth. Really appreciated the attention to detail with the service and it didn't go unnoticed.
R. A.
We had a lovely dinner. There is a 3 or 4 course ala carte menu (though with several amuse bouche's more like 5) or multi course tasting menu - we did rhe former. Small, quiet place. I cab recommend the sweetbreads and the duck if the have them
L. D.
Phenomenal as promised ! Fantastic food and great service. Star-worthy indeed!
L. D.
Incredible experience. Had the tasting menu with paired wines and every morsal was a delight. Staff very friendly and attentive, couldn't fault it.
r. i.
Absolutely wonderful experience wanted to go to a Michelin star for 20 odd years wasn't disappointed Food and staff fantastic
R. C.
High on food, who needs alcohol! Late afternoon sitting for the tasting menu was such a treat. I love the consistantly good food and service provided by Cail Bruich, even through lockdown, and today they exceeded my expectations. The food has extra layers, not just in the flavours but in the cleverly constructed dishes that reveal elements only when you break through the surface. Each course is presented with it own unique plates and cutlery, making a feast for the eyes too. I would post pictures but that would spoil the experience 😊
F. E.
Michelin star well deserved. There is no good weekend without starting at Cail or Epicures.
J. M.
Exceptional good service, food was great! Staffs are so friendly.
A. R.
The food here is incredible. We had the 5 course tasting menu,a d each course was fantastic . Everyone both front of house and in the kitchen, were very friendly, and happy to explain what was happening. I cant wait to go back again, it can't happen soon enough
R. M.
Eat here last night. Absolutely amazing meal. Served by knowledgeable and friendly staff. Food and service comparable with any Michelin stared restaurant would be surprised if this place doesn't have at least one in the next year.
Interesting, intense, flavourful food well thought out with beautiful wine pairings. Could not be happier.
j. c.
As good as a 1 Michelin starred restaurant should be.
P. C.
Absolutely lovely meal. We took the Chef's Tasting Menu and it was a delight from start to finish. Great, attentive staff and a lovely place. Fab

Heard good things about this restaurant and decided to book a tasting lunch.
The food was well presented and the flavours were outstanding!
Great wines to go with superb food.
Michelin star quality without doubt.
R. R.
Chef's table, tasting menu with wine pairing.....sublime.
J. R.
Ate there today. The meal was a gift to my husband and I for our 60th birthday. Have NEVER left a negative review and am not about to do so now. 5 course tasting menu. Possibly think that it's been our best yet. Sea trout was delicious, as was the tomato course. Loved the pork . The lemon tart was to die for. Amazing staff and service. Cannot recommend highly enough. Must be on of the best place to eat .My favourite
N. A. Y.
Seriously tasty food and great service!
C. A.
I was in town and wanted to do a nice dinner with a friend. After a little research I found Cail Bruich and made a reservation for their seven course tasting menu. I was not disappointed. Creative dishes and flavors, perfectly executed. I chose the wine pairing and it made the dinner that much more special.the beet dish and sherry pairing were fantastic. Highlight of my trip to Glasgow. And the price is more than fair for the quality and service.
J. G.
Expect this restaurant to get its first Michelin star very soon, it's that good. Definitely the premier restaurant in Glasgow. The service is incredible and the food is outstanding. Make sure you treat yourself to the chef's bounty tasting menu. Cannot reccomend it highly enough and the price is far more affordable than many similar tasting menu experiences.
B. F.
Good food, nice atmosphere, friendly staffs.
S. M.
By far the best meal we have experienced in Glasgow and we should have provided a positive review much much earlier. We had a wonderful dinner pared with different wines , on our anniversary. Staff were highly skilled in all our departments- cooking, customer service and knowledge on wine paring.
The apple soufflé was brilliant and so was the duck other than everything else!
g. j.
Great service and really lovely food. The portions were more than enough for sharing plates, the prices were decent and there was a good selection of dishes. The venison carpaccio, tequila cured trout and duck curry deserve special mention. Will definitely be back.
K. A.
Lovely surprise visiting this delightful dining experience. Taster menu was varied and delicious. Staff were very friendly and attentive and explained each course to enhance the expectation. Did not disappoint.
M. R.
Been a number of times over the years - it anything the food has gotten better and better. Staff are always friendly and happy to help, creating a welcoming atmosphere.
R.
The best restaurant in Glasgow. Hands down. It's expensive, but worth every single penny. The tasting menu is the way to go. They offer a 5 or 8 course menu with optional paired wines. Along with the wines you receive a short history of the wine. An absolutely wonderful experience. Staff are all friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. Wonderful restaurant.
P. G.
10 of us went to Cail Bruich for a 25th Wedding Anniversary. The food was great and the service was excellent. Very knowledgeable staff for wine selection and information on the cheese board. Couldn't fault anything. Will definitely be back.
P. M.
Lovely quirky little place with a fab seasonal menu. However being told you had been sat at a rubbish table before we had even seen the table was a bit off putting. My meal was fantastic but my partner had the beef and it wasn't that impressive. It was nice but not the amazing that you would expect from a place like this.
A. N.
The food here was delicious i could not fault any of it and the service was great however. The length of time between courses was not acceptable. We waited almost an hour to get our first course and we did not leave the restaraunt until 3 hours after we had arrived. On top of that their mark up on alcohol is ridiculous. I accept that profit needs to be made but how do you justify £30 for a bottle of wine i can pick up at any supermarket for a fiver, and £25 four a large bottle of beer which you can get for £4. I have eaten in Michelin star restaraunts for less money, lastly there was 4 of us and we had to sit apart as the could not do a tabled for 4. ( Weird ) i enjoyed the food on my first visit however my first visit will be my last.
B. B.
We were gifted a tasting menu by our beautiful children. Meal didn't disappoint, food and wine flight were delicious, staff friendly and knowledgeable. Service excellent and not rushed, just the way we like it. Excellent restaurant, our first but not last visit. Thank you.
m. j.
Nice intimate restaurant friendly staff excellent quality food on the set menu for £40 just a bit unsure/disappointed in the starter of the veal sweat bread other than that a very nice dining experience
t. h.
Staff super friendly and attentive. The food was beautifully presented and we enjoyed trying dishes we wouldn't normally go for. Would definitely return. Special shout to Simon who was the perfect host.
O. Z.
One of the best restaurants I've ever been! We had a seasonal menu of 3 courses with wine pairing, and it was a culinary journey too fine and elaborate to call it a dinner. I especially remember the scallops from the first course, paired with strawberries and elderflower to create the most delicious dish! The wine matching was perfect, even for my partner, who likes very dry wines and ended up having a desert wine😃(The sommelier was no less fascinating with his explanations than the wines themselves). And the attention of the staff to the smallest details - they leave the water bottles on the bar counter not to cram the tables with them. And small perks you get before the food starts coming. Place for the food lovers!
k. z.
Great tasting menu! Lovely atmosphere nicely done interior very good quality food, especially the cod lion, beetroot dish and oyster dish is nice too! Happy dinning experience in Glasgow.
R. S.
Amazing gastronomic evening superb service was increadable , and we were very privileged to be at the chef's table. Thank you one and all. Would highly recommend for that special night, or lunch, or just because you can .
L. M.
From both the bays of France and the northern coasts of Scotland, there's innovative and excellent food to be found at Cail Bruich. The focus at the table was on the generous plates, from a menu that was both hearty and delicate. There were seaweeds far from the north subtly featuring in a unique vegetarian dish, but you can also choose a roast crown of chicken if that's your fancy.
Looking to the tidy bright entrance of the kitchen will detract from your experience at the table, as that's what makes visiting Cail Bruich great. I hope it stays both reliable and daring for celebrations, special meals, and showcases of their tasting menus: next time I visit will be for just that.
G. P.
Make a reservation, forget about the cost, and tuck into a culinary adventure with a pairing. This is first class food and service. Reasonable portion control and artful presentation. We splurged on the tasting menu and were totally pleased with each dish. Goal!
i. b.
Excellent restaurant in the West end of Glasgow offering vegan, vegetarian, gluten free options. Staff very knowledgeable, each course exceptional and sommelier a great help with choice. Well done chefs. Will be back.
P. S.
The new bar bites menu is fantastic! Service is perfect, by the glass wine list is very good as well. The pickles, bread, pig’s head (trust me), and duck confit were outstanding! We’ll be back!
G. J.
Excellent food and service Dined here with my wife and really enjoyed it. The food was excellent as well as the service. We took the tasting menu which was splendid. I really liked the taste and combination, especially the sea trout and the venison. Gets full rating by me but ofcourse when you get excellent food and service you have to pay a bit. It is not cheap but not overpriced in my opinion. Very good choice for fine dining.
B. M.
Top level quality dining. Attention to detail is superb yet not overly formal. My wife is gluten intolerant and we'd let them know in advance. They adjusted the set menu to suit without lowering quality or flavour.
N. C.
Restaurant food is good, not brilliant and the overall experience is disappointing.”
We have been to this place a few times. A two course meal is expensive however the experience is special as they will often provide a small taster 'compliment' between courses. The taster menu at £60 per head minimum is a rip off; So, this does not include filtered tap water which was charged at £4/ head. Nor does it include teas or coffees so out goes Scottish hospitality. THE WORST part is the slowness of service. You certainly do not need 2.5 hours to serve a pre-prepared SET MENU unless staff are wholly incompetent. The waiting staff comprised of two very dry and unemotive staff. A young dark bearded chap who will smile on the customers prompt by '1st smile'. He does however have a nice manner about him. A burly red headed gentleman who serves the meals thus introducing each course in his dulcet tones which you strain to understand. He is not engaging and made the experience (on all three occasions we visited) monotonous. The dishes are flavoursome, however they are over-seasoned. The price is way too high. Remember, this restaurant is at the 'bad end' of Gt Western Rd (lower rateable value than Byres Rd). I am sorry to say that this place lacks atmosphere and the prices are no less than extortion. I assure you, they have a sell by date and there is no point in becoming a patron here unless you plan to make a mere 4 visits a year to experience their l
G. F.
Tasting menu on a different level to any other restaurant been to in Glasgow. Although doesn't sound a lot, by end was more than content. Every dish spot on, personally scallops were the star but duck and halibut perfectly cooked.
S. M.
How does Cail Bruich not have a Michelin star?! The courses are delicious and have a lot of unusual flavour combinations. Excellent wine pairings curated by a knowledgeable and passionate somm. There are a lot of rare fine wines by the glass which are reasonably priced too. Will be returning next time I’m in town.
J. C.
Fantastic food and service! We had the tasting menu and every course was impeccably cooked and presented. Thank you!
A. W.
This is probably our 10th visit to Cail Bruich. They never fail to surprise us with their inventive combinations of flavour and texture. When we occasionally visit other top end restaurants Cail Bruich is always the benchmark and nowhere else has ever reached their level. Wild garlic butter with sourdough bread and consomme, trout tartare with horseradish, silky cod with asparagus and Jersey Royals were among the amazing dishes we had from their tasting menu. Cail Bruich is a real gastronomic experience, it may seem expensive but we have always left feeling that we had great value for money. Looking forward to number 11.
J. M.
Tasting menu for two with matched wines for me as I wasn't driving home. One of the courses was lamb, which is one of the few things I just can't eat. This wasn't a problem and the restaurant suggested an alternative option of deliciously tender beef.
If we lived in the West End, I think we'd be very regular visitors here!
E. J.
Incredible cuisine full of interesting flavours. Excellent wine-pairings.
J. M.
This place is absolutely amazing! Can't fault it one bit. The attention to detail is exquisite the taste is faultless. I've read about how pricey some people find it but for me you only get what you pay for and this place won't leave you feeeling out of pocket! The staff are also very attentive and helpful nothing is to much......of you like good food, a good atmosphere then this place is ideal! A personal favourite of mine is the sea trout......finished with a delightful cheeseboard. If I stayed in the area I would use regularly but anytime I am in he area for work I always make sure I fit it a visit. See you soon guys
D. M.
Incredible fresh tasting menus, consistently excellent, with an equally considered and high quality bar service. Absolutely top notch food and drink, with exceptional service. Can't recommend more.
D. P.
Undoubtedly the best dining experience to be had in Glasgow. The attention to detail both in the cooking and the front of house setup is exceptional. Beautiful food, intimate and cosy dining room, and great service team. Thank you!
L. B.
Friendly attentive kind staff free snacks while you wait on courses I had 3 delicious high quality snacks with 3 course meals all high quality prepared... I cant stop saying that enough because it's so rare to find in Glasgow the same... Cozy atmosphere
Quite cheap considering the quality the service and how much you get :-) I was super happy to find this place and I will be back. Why spend half the price on junk food when you can spend on highest quality and service and leave feeling taken care of happier satisfied and healthier :-) Worth every penny
Can't highly recommend enough
There's not another place like this in Glasgow
Thank you staff
S. M.
Awesome. If Michelin did stars in Glasgow, Cail Bruich would have one. Genuinely passionate staff add to the experience and if you appreciate food, wine and art, this is food fusion heaven.
C. M.
Amazing food and very attentive staff. Lovely experience with each dish described and will offer a wine to match each course if you would prefer.
N. R.
In all honesty without doubt the best meal i have ever had in my life. I will warn you though its not cheap here. We spent £160 here last time for 3 people. But worth every penny. The tastes are just absolutely beautiful. They also bring out a few tasters before the meals that you have chosen which are lovely and a great start.
All of these appetisers taste out of this world! They also have an soft drink with like strawberry and ginger ale or something and i can promise you, if you have 1, you will want more! (I had 4) they just taste so amazing and are non alcohol as i was driving.
When it came to the starter, i had the scallops, and they were to die for! They are by far the best scallops i have had in my life, and ive had many before! The main with lamb had these absolutely beautiul flavours, the lamb was cooked perfectly as i asked for. Was a beautiful main.
Then when it comes to dessert now thats a whole new story! I had this chocolate tart with cherry sorbet. First bite was just the tart and it was good but nothing special. But as soon as you mix in all those flavours from the cherry sorbet and the cherries! Oh my god! Probably one of the best desserts ive had too.
Definetly going back to try the other dishes they have! Would happily go back to even have the same meal again as it was beautiful!
Highly recommend coming here. But be sure to book in advance! They are very very full and dont have alot of tables.
G. R.
Excellent range of tasty dishes, carefully prepared. Enthusiastic staff who are friendly and knowledgeable about the food they serve. Interesting wine list!
M. B.

M. L.
This was our first visit to Cail Bruich and were very impressed by the interesting menu, portion size - just right -,attentive staff without being overbearing. The canapes were delicious as was the amuse-bouche. Good judgement all round! We are telling everyone we know and can't wait to come back!
I. M.
Best meal I've eaten in Glasgow. Been to the gannet, 111 by Nico, straivagin, chip etc and this is the best. Maybe not the roomiest for seats though but food and service amazing
S. C.
Pleasant and attentive staff. Went for seasonal menu with matching wine. Lamb was tremendous. Small restaurant but still ability to feel intimate.
D. L. &. P. H.

Outstanding Scottish food served with care and precision. Superb tasting menu and matching wines with sensible prices are well worth going for

Really excellent and personal service, with great thought having gone into the construction and mix of flavours of each dish. The butter that tasted of bacon rolls was extraordinary.
