No chasing after haute cuisine on this venture and only non-bubbly comments will be offered. This was a cracking meal for any officianado of fish & chips. The food was brilliant,the atmosphere was truly relaxed and easy-going. I'm reliably informed that the ice-cream was primera ! For great food without any blitzkrieg on the wallet, Equi's would be very hard to beat.

Ate at the restaurant yesterday for fathers day. Food as usual excellent and icecream delicious, however to have the waitress bang the table and say I need this table in 5 mins as I have other customers was a bit off putting, hence the 4 stars and not the 5.

Lovely food. Nice clean restaurant and friendly, efficient staff and was very busy....that's a good advert in itself....I had fish and chips, bread and butter and tea followed with delicious ice cream. Such a big helping of main course couldn't finish it but managed the ice cream....what does that tell you....my friend had the same choice as I had and also very pleasantly surprised...... another extra five stars!! The whole bill came to way below £2 0 for pensioners meal!!! Including tip...very kindly paid for by my friend!!

Ok to sit in but very under staffed ,felt heart sorry for the poor girl left on her own to cope with a near full restaurant so that s how I have only 3 starred the eatery food is ok but need to wait as was only 1 person trying to cope and I must admit doing a great job under the circumstances .

Equi’s is well known and well liked in the Hamilton area; great fish and chip shop, fantastic ice creams and if you want to visit the restaurants adjacent to the shops best to book at busy times such as Sundays.

This place is great. Ok so started with a broad statement so let's break it down. Eat in option. Lots of tables and very clean all meals are cooked to order and arrive piping hot. Portion size is more than generous and if you leave hear hungry it's your own fault. Take away option. Yet again portion size is spot on. Food is tasty and hot. Price wise is very affordable. What is great about both of these options is the homemade coleslaw creamy and crunchy and surprisingly nice with a fish supper. The icecream counter is out of this world. Original flavours and a great selection we always treat ourselves to a three scoop pot when ever we visit.

Popped in 1 night as I could nit be bothered to cook, got a donner kebab asked for nothing on it. Went home and opened it up only to find it covered in sauce and salad. Went right back them explained what had happened and they gave me new 1 the way I asked for.

The food is always of a high quality here. You can sit in and it's reasonably priced for a huge fish and chips. The ice cream selection is great and it's amazing. The take out food is of the same high quality as the restaurant. Well worth a visit.

We have only used the take away for hot food and ice cream. Ice cream choice is amazing. Fish is nice, chips are ok. Disappointed that fritters are only available occasionally 😣 The counter staff are not friendly even tho we are regular customers they never make conversation with you and are reluctant to chat with you if you make conversation with them, and most of them look like they are unhappy to be there! It always very noisey and quite difficult to hear what they are asking you. They are always too fast to ask for payment before you have completed your order. Another minor gripe is that they are reluctant to fry fresh fish at request if you are having to wait for pizzas or what ever. The "ordering/waiting area, system" is a bit of a shambles at times as there is no proper system in place. I hope the management take feedback on board for a better customer servicec experience.

Great place and the food is amazing. If you are looking for something small, I would suggest sharing a meal as the portion sizes are on the larger size. Love that they do a senior citizens meal is great for my gran who doesn't eat a lot

Wonderful place full of memories. The ice cream is amazing and all made in house, so very fresh! I’ve always loved Equis and the very large variety of ice cream is mind boggling!

Generally pretty good chips but BAD BAD BAD management. The staff have obviously been instructed to get the money off you as soon as humanly possible, so every time you try to order they're telling you how much it is before you even finish the order. Seriously, it's like: "Can I have a half pizza and chips and..." "That's £3.50." "Sorry and a sausage sup..." "£7.20" "...per, oh and can I have a pickled onion with that?" Every other chip shop I go to charges you at the end, once your food is available. Here it's like they don't trust you not to flee the scene before your chips arrive. The worst thing about the Equi's approach is that by the time the food is ready, they've always forgotten about any extras like pickled onions or ice cream and you have to remind them. Apart from being annoying for the customers, it's also REALLY bad business. Because there's no time for the customer between ordering and having money demanded, there's no time to hang about the shop and decide that, hey, that ice cream looks good, I'll have a tub of that too. Pay attention Equi's owners - charge people at the end and you'll sell more stuff AND have less irritated customers!

Fish is recommended it's so fresh and crispy even better than any other Equi's it's made to order and not sitting about for a while going soggy , I drive past three shops that sell fish and chip to get to this one , Very nice friendly staff :)

Without doubt the best fish tea restaurant in Scotland and to cap it all for seniors there is a special £6-50 fish tea with all the trimmings . Unbelievable value for money and a fantastic service from the waitresses
