Reviews of Ga Ga Kitchen + Bar

Excellent meal! Their menu is designed for sharing although some dishes like the chicken burger aren't easy to share. Some sides are actually quite big, like the soy and ginger potatoes. Overall fantastic dishes and flavours and great atmosphere. Service was nice and friendly! Prices are reasonable for delicious food in generous portions.

Been here a couple of times now and can see why it won restaurant of the year! The food is incredible (and the drinks are too).
Every dish I've had has been great! If you love South East Asian flavours then you need to go here ASAP!

The Ga Ga as I understand it’s mainly a new innovative and creative Asian take on traditional Asian cuisine.
We ordered four dishes and two beverages. My favorite is ‘watermelon cooler’ with fresh watermelon, rosemary and citrus.
The main course were generally good, but as a person who has been to Sichuan many times and loves Sichuan food so much. I’d like to give some of my suggestions for dishes with the word ‘Sichuan’ on the menu.
Sichuan crinkle cut fries - firstly, for sure this fries are in very authentic shape, something I would eat in China. But it seems to have curry power added (not sure). Prawn toast, chilli oil, kewpie mayo - with respect, this chilli oil seems to only contain Lao Gan Ma.
We fully understand that we need to make some changes to our dishes to suit everyone’s tastes. But Sichuan represents the soul of Sichuan cuisine with its spicy, peppery, varied chillies, sesame oil, bean paste and many other seasonings.
Overall, Ga Ga is a restaurant worth visiting and we look forward to seeing more new food in the future.

Food is outstanding, the rice noodle salad and Nasi goreng are a must! It took me back to my visit to Bali. The interior design is beautiful, very warm. The staff are really attentive, overall a great experience and can't wait to go back.

I loved this place - it’s totally relaxed and a great place to stay awhile. We ordered quite a lot between four of us and every plate was excellent.
The prawn toast was aaamazing and I really enjoyed the nasi goreng. The cocktails were beautiful - each with a little twist to make them out of the ordinary.
The service was great - efficient and friendly.
I can’t wait to come back.
REVISIT EDIT:
Came back to Ga Ga a couple of weeks after my first visit and was very underwhelmed. The flavours weren’t great, the quality wasn’t as good (the second time the prawn toast looked like I could have made it myself with some Warburtons) and it wasn’t cheap either. I think there might be a staff turnover issue causing some issues but I’d think twice about rushing back.

Wow. Amazing food, unlike anything we've eaten before, this was one of our favourite meals in recent years. Food came out tapas style and we shared. Sweetcorn fritters and pork belly were especially awesome, but we loved everything. Friendly service and cocktails were lovely, too. It's the morning after and we're already thinking about going again.

I have been to this restaurant 4 times in the 2 months. Any of my family and friends who haven't been there, I''m making sure we get a visit in.
Recent visit with my sister and niece, and my sister said that she couldn't remember the last time she ate in a restaurant where every dish was 5 stars.
Very personable service and great chat from the bartender on duty. You could tell he was a master of his craft.
Lovely restaurant, super clean, and just a lovely vibe inside with the music as well. Whenever you host and take people out for dinner you like to think you are scoring Brownie points, so it makes me look good too!!
Ga Ga is showing off the best of Glasgow.

Great chilled out venue with really tasty small plates and a generally cool atmosphere.

After having gone to Julie's Kopitiam for many years we were eager to finally try her newest venture.
We went as a party of 8 and pretty much ordered everything from the menu. There wasn't a single dish we didn't enjoy.
Most of us were meat eaters but there were two vegetarians and one vegan among us. We were all equally happy, so it's a great place to go with a group of diverse eaters. Well, as long as you like rich Southeast-Asian flavours. Only a few dishes were spicy but all of them tasted really bold (I mean this in a good way). If you like rich Southeast-Asian food, though, you will probably be very happy.

Very tasty lunch, lots of interesting dishes all with great flavours. Will definitely go back and would thoroughly recommend. The Soy and Ginger potatoes, in particular, were epic and a big thumbs up for the Prawn Toast too.

Excellent food, lovely atmosphere.
We went as two vegetarians for dinner and were not disappointed. Highlights included the Rice Noodle Salad, the chickpea coconut Malaysian curry and the ginger potatoes (these are quite a big portion).

Staff were so lovely, perfect atmosphere to start a Saturday night yet still not too loud where you can’t hear each other. Food was amazing, generous portion sizes, they even threw in a complimentary dish. And cocktails were good too :) Thank you

Brilliant wee place and staff were so helpful for disability access. They will put a temp ramp out if you ask. Everything is on the level and a good disabled toilet.
Food was amazingly fresh, tasty and good portions. The chicken honey burger was to die for. The aubergine satay was delish and the chicken toast was moreish.
Will def go back as it's very disability friendly and good food.
Went to the thornwood after, was a great night.
M. K.
Absolutely delicious! Lovely atmosphere. Super friendly staff!

Popped in today for some lunch. First visit and we will definitely be back.
Staff were great, very knowledgeable and helpful.
Food was excellent with good size portions.

Fairly disappointed by this one. Had higher hopes. The menu doesn't make much sense. Very confused and lacks vision.
I had the rice noodle salad to start and the chicken sambal as a main.
Within our group, the food was served in a very disappointing manner. Starters arrived after mains and some members of the group receiving food after others had finished both plates. They did tell us it would arrive as ready but we still thought there may be some consistency to the order sequencing.
The chicken sambal is one of the most overpriced dishes I've eaten anywhere ever. A chicken leg with sambal paste over it and they referred to it as a main. The taste was very good but as a main, but it was very unfinished if it is to be referred to as a main dish. Even if I got the side of rice on time it wouldn't have worked. It was just too basic. Needs some thought as to how it can become a dish rather than a simple chicken leg on a plate.
The starter was very disappointing. Again basic without any real defining quality that would make me order that again. Also tried the fried chicken and I can safely say my wife makes it better. The crumb was burnt and far too hard... Someone else at the table said the same.
On the plus side, it is a beautiful venue with character and atmosphere but the food needs work. Yet another Glasgow restaurant that seems overhyped. I will say that I can see the potential here and some of our group had better luck with the pork belly dish. If they get serious about the shortcomings this could be a winner. I'll try again at a later date hoping they can make adjustments. All in all... Underwhelmed for now

There was a lot of hype surrounding the opening of this restaurant due to its links with Julie's Kopitiam and I really wanted to love it but it was just 'ok'. The service staff were really nice but one of the items was very late due to it having to be remade but I'm not really sure why this was. Two of us ordered the same dessert but only got one of them so I have to catch someone's attention to ask for another. This was on a pretty quiet Thursday evening.
The sweetcorn fritters were more like a pakora style and all of the accompanying sauces were too sweet. The coconut cake was nice but didn't really taste that coconut-ty apart from the toasted coconut on top. The caramel that came with it did taste like coconut which I was impressed with. I also had the chicken with mandarin sauce which was really tasty and the prawn toast was excellent.
(Forgot to take pics)
F. L.
Overall the taste of the dishes are good, staff are really friendly. But it is definitely overpriced. A single fried chicken leg dish with sambal on top is priced at £12 with no accompaniment or rice. My friend ordered nasi goreng with lardon and fried egg and i can't emphasize enough that "nasi goreng" originated from Indonesia and Malaysia which is a Muslim country that prohibited the consumption of pork. To add lardon into a nasi goreng is a bit disrespectful to the origin of the dish.
J. 1.
Incredible staff, great cocktails. However I must say very let down with the food. Having heard so much about here, chicken starters very dry and bland even with sauce, mains were good, but rather bland as well.
K.
Book well in advance! Food was fab, lots of choice, creative and very flavoursome. Cocktails lovely too
A. V.
Fun and delicious weeknight dining experience. Made a reservation for our group of six and it was a great spot to order shared style. I loved that our server was mindful about the amount of food we ordered so we didn't have food waste. Good options for vegetarians. Would go back!
E. C.
The place was buzzing on a sat night. Nice atmosphere and the staff are all absolutely lovely. Very helpful, giving u the sense they like being there. The plates are on a sharing mentality, everything for the middle. Loved the noodles salad, prawn toast and the beef sheen is to die for. Proper Asian cuisine but not too spicy or challenging. The wine list has orange and organic wines.. What else can I ask for?
A. M.
Tricky one as I was really looking forward to going as I love South Asian food. The restaurant looks great, well laid out and sure it would have a good atmosphere when busy. It was a rainy Tuesday night so not many people around anywhere
Service was very good, menu was just about the right size with good options, I would have been happy with anything.
The food is really good so don't get me wrong, great flavours but I was just a bit underwhelmed. My dish could have probably done with me asking it to be heated up more and the pork belly cooked a little bit longer but I feel like I'm splitting hairs a bit.
Was kinda torn on this one, would probably give it 3.5 stars but there is no such thing here and I've given other places not as good 4. Probably a 7 out of ten which feels less harsh than a 3 out of five which would definitely not be fair.
I think my expectations weren't quite matched but that's possibly more on me.
I would recommend it, would go back again and it was good value.
Sorry about the lack of tip, asked for it to be added to my card but looks like it didn't happen :-(
S. M.
Outstanding. Been on my go-to for a while and loved it.

Amazing food, served so fast even on a busy day. Super friendly staff, reasonable prices (portions are generous). Will come back again whenever I'm in Glasgow (just visiting) - what a gem.
G. M.
Really friendly staff and some really interesting SE Asian inspired fusion chicken recipes (say that three times fast!). Really enjoyed our meal.

Second time we’ve been this time taking a visitor from Australia and speaking so highly about GaGa and “it will be a great night out”.
Given the good experience we had when it first opened.
This time however different kettle of fish.
Service was non existent, having to ask for any sort of service.
Food was average this time round.
Really disappointed given first experience.
Used to recommend will no longer.
H. K.
Great vibe, fantastic menu and friendly service. Food v reasonably priced too. Definitely going back.

First visit to Ga ga, and they didn't dissapoint.
The service was attentivem but not intruding, and the food was smashing. Really enjoyed the nasi goreng and the hot dog.
Make sure you visit!
S. M.
Really great experience, food was amazing, the drinks were gorgeous and the staff attentive and friendly.
A. M.
4.5/5 - food is great, drinks are great, service is genuine and friendly.
My only critique is that some of the seating is not ideal, flimsy & rickety.
Absolutely worth a visit, struggling to see the issues others are having with the food? Have been here several times now and it's always been great.
J. C.
Fantastic food, great service and the sound track was on point.

Enjoyed a very pleasant evening meal and drinks at GaGa Kitchen + Bar. I live locally, so looking forward to coming back for a drink or a bite to eat.
Our party was vegetarian and ate very well, both smaller and larger plates. The staff were very knowledgeable about what dishes were suitable/could be adapted and the same for allergies. The food itself was absolutely delicious and there was a real diversity of flavours and foods on offer.
The drinks menu was also excellent although if I have one bit of feedback on this it's please have a paper version as well as/instead of a QR code! (The food menu was paper) The waitress was very quick to offer an iPad to read the drinks menu though.
Also want to give a shout out for the interior design - it is such a beautifully designed space, I felt like I was in an episode of Interior Design Masters. The only thing I would say about that though is it isn't immediately clear from the outside which door you are supposed to walk in through! So maybe a menu placed outside by the door might help on that front.
A. O.
Total professionalism from booking my table through to experiencing what can only be described as totally awesome food. The waitress who could talk me through the menu and advise me accordingly, also for my wine choice. I will most definitely visit again.
m. f.
Super friendly service, food really good. We usually go for a curry in the West end but our friend recommended this place, will definitely return, so different and enjoyable. Thank you!
M. J.
On the journey to amazing. Some really good food and some novel cocktails make this a must try. Some dishes were not quite on the mark but not far off. Will be back.
A. H.
Brilliant. Went in today with my sister, mum, missus and the kids. It was great, especially the beef, the kecap manis potatoes and the smacked cucumbers but it was all really good. Lots of flavour, well presented and good fun to share as a group. The decor and atmosphere is great, the staff were superb and all in all, we really loved it. Well done to all involved, a new favourite for us. Go, like as soon as you can.
G. A.
Amazing. One of the best I have ever tasted in glasgow. Well worth going out of the centre of town, menue has a dish for everyone, great cocktails and staff are lovely, will definitely be back
J. D.
We had a fantastic experience here. The service was attentive without being fussy, and Marc (one of the owners I believe) was very on the ball. Food was delicious.
K. A.

Very nice and welcoming staff.
Good selection of beers, will be back.

Great new bar in the wild West End. Heaps better than 6° North and almost as good as Velvet Elvis, if we're comparing.
Warm and welcoming with amazing pan-Asian food, dazzling cocktail range, wines aplenty and a growing selection of tap beers.
The staff are just great. Nothing is too much trouble and as easy going as you'd wish for.
This is the, much welcomed, new go-to place at the Thornwood end of Partick. Don't overdo the rush, though. I'll need a regular stool.
C. W.
The former 6°North taphouse has been tastefully redecorated into an invitingly casual southeast Asian restaurant.
While pricing seems a little on the high side given the emphasis on ordering two or three plates for sharing, portions are ample, and you'll regret not grabbing a couple of options when the food comes out.
Ground pork with basil and peppercorns is enticingly moreish and pairs with a rich but not sickly aubergine chop suey. Pork belly in red curry sauce is a melting, perfectly charred delight and a complete meal on its own, but get the watermelon noodle salad if you want to tame the heat a little, or just because it's a lunch in its own right. Absolutely order the smacked cucumbers; they're a crunchy revelation.
If you're not already in a food coma, the fresh, crispy banana fritters will get you there.
Draft beer range is limited, but the in-house session IPA is fruity and quenching. A variety of soft drinks are available, including Jarritos- get one if you miss the days when Barr's juice still had all the sugar content.

Pretty funky wee place, south east Asian influenced but for the western market, tasty, quick and plentiful. Sweet corn fritters were a surprising highlight!

Great meal! Lots of interesting flavours. Was it the best south Asian food I've ever eaten? No. But it was good.
